Is piano keyboard in GarageBand being reversed?

I just got my piano today and started my very first piano lesson on GarageBand. I've never had any experience with piano before so please excuse me if the question sounds too dump for you
I notice that the GarageBand piano starts with 3 black keys, then 2 black keys, etc. starting from the left to right, which is completely opposite to mine. I googled some piano image and finds all of them similar to mine.
Is the GarageBand keyboard being reversed? Why did they do that? I find it to be very counter intuitive. Is there anyway I can change it to make it looks the same as mine?
Some information: Mac OS 10.6, Pinao technics SX-PR51.
Thank you,

It is not reversed, it is showings a diffenerent section of the keyboard - shifted a fifth down, so the bass keys will start with "F" and not with "C" like your keyboard. Actually, I prefer it this way when playing in C scale. Then I frequently need a note below the C and this makes it easier to play.
Your keyboard starts at the fifth white key to the right.

  • Connecting an old piano keyboard to garageband

I have an "old" Yamaha (PSR-280) electric piano/keyboard which we bought
around (I would guess) 12 years ago.
On the back of my mac (near to all the USB sockets) there are two round plug holes,
one with a headphone symbol and the other with a symbol of a circle with two
triangular arrows pointing into this circle,
Out of all the sockets I would GUESS that this would be the only one that MAY serve
for the connection to the piano keyboard!??
The PIANO has two basic round plug holes
(larger but similar to those on the mac) that say: "phones/output" and the other "sustain"
Then there are two other round sockets that each have 5 pinholes that are termed
"MIDI - IN - OUT" (apologies for my lack of knowledge in naming the plug types)
At this stage I just wanted to know if its worth even trying to connect it to garageband on my mac
before trying to hunt down all the necessary cables and adaptors etc to make it possible
or whether I am wasting my time??
    Any advice very welcome
    Thank you

Thanks for your response the other day...
I tried connecting with a cable but no sound comes through.
I went to "sound" in system preferences and the sound meter
seemed to indicate that something was going through because
the meter would jump whenever I hit a key on the piano. I also noticed
that the the meter would stay lit for a couple of seconds each time I hit
a note so even if the sound was coming through I suspect I would have
the same problems with notes getting "stuck" as the person with the post below

Thanks isteveus, I will keep persevering...

  • Which piano keyboard works best with GarageBand?

I just got a MacBook Pro and am looking to get a piano keyboard to use with GarageBand. I would like for it to be able to be played without hooking it up to my computer. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Fletcher

the best way to do this would be to write down the features you're looking for, and check out a local music store so that you can see what looks and feels good to you (keeping in mind the factors I mentioned above for compatibility)
If that's just not an option, you might take a look at this 88 key stage piano or this 'Premium' stage piano
Disclaimer: I have not personally used either one, and I'm not a piano player (though I have a 49e controller that I've very happy with), but this is a good brand that is also well known around here for being Mac Friendly

  • Where are piano lessons on GarageBand? They are on my MacBook but now that I have downloaded it on my nephew's iPad it doesn't exist!

Where are piano lessons on GarageBand? They are on my MacBook and my nephew loved it and we assumed that it was all part of Garageband but now that I have downloaded GarageBand  on my nephew's iPad, the lessons don't show up.
Many thanks for any insights or where to find these tutorials with "Tim".

GarageBand for iOS is a different app and does not have all the features of the desktop version. I could be wrong, but I don't believe that the iOS app has those lessons.

  • Resounding note with a MIDI keyboard in GarageBand

    Hi everyone!
I am having a problem with a resounding note with a MIDI keyboard in GarageBand. I am running the following:
    GarageBand Version: 10.0.2
    Keyboard: Korg PA50
Macbook Pro 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
    16 GB of RAM
    OSX 10.9.4
What happens is when I am recording, one note (could be an Eb, could be a G, the note changes each time) continues to sound after I have stopped recoding and taken off the sustain pedal and my fingers off the keyboard. It happens for virtual instruments that don’t even sustain using the sustain pedal such as an organ. The solution to this is to select a different virtual instrument and reselect the one I was using. This is not great especially in the middle of recording.
If anyone has any ideas, that would be much appreciated! If you need any extra info, please ask!
    Thanks for your time!

To anyone with this issue, I have resolved it. I was using a third party USB-MIDI cable. I bought a new proper one for $65 (NZ Dollar) and have had no problems since. Hope this helps!

  • F.05 -   why the entries are being reversed even though I did not tick the

    Hi,
Please advice why the entries are being reversed even though I did not tick the reversal button in F.05.
Your assitance is very much appreciated.

    Hi,
It is a standard SAP procedure by which the revaluation entries are automatically reversed. If you do not want to reverse the revaluation entries, you will have to Activate Delat Logic for the Valuation Area. SPRO Path is Financial Accounting (New)--> General Ledger Accounting (New) > Periodic Processing> Valuate --> Activate Delta Logic.
Once you activate this Delta Logic, at the time of fc valuation, you will get the check box for Annual or Mid Term revalation will come. If you select the annual option, the automatic reversal will not happen.

  • Help with connecting iPad 2 to Motif xs keyboard using GarageBand.?

I have an iPad 2. I recently bought the iPad camera connection kit from amazon because I heard you can connect your iPad to a music keyboard with GarageBand. I have a Yamaha motif xs 8. When I connect my keyboard with a midi USB to the iPad.. Nothing happens. Can anybody help with this, and am I missing something in order to make this work???

It worked for me no problem but I'm using an ES Rack and the dude on the video I think was using an ES. It maybe the XS is wired differently. Your best option is still getting a piece like IK Multimedia's iRig Midi. It connects from the iPad dock to actual midi cables and is way more flexible if your using multiple devices.

  • Using Yamaha Keyboard with GarageBand

Tried my Yamaha keyboard with GarageBand for the first time. To my amazement, it worked. However:
Cant' seem to get the volume up (on the Yamaha Keyboard). Checked all the volume settings, including the iMac's System Preferences, GarageBand volume settings but it's still relatively "soft."
I'm using a USB 2.0 15-ft. cable. Could the length of the cable have anything to do with this. Would a shorter USB 2.0 cable.........say 4-ft. ...... make a difference?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions

don't think I have some of the features to control
sound you suggest. (GB's Track Fader? Master Volume
    Fader? "Generator" settings. "Pencil" icon.)
You have all these things. Each track has a fader (volume control), and at the bottom right of the window is the Master Fader (volume Control). Select a track and open Track Info ("i"nfo) icon), click details, and the pencil icon to the right of the Generator PopUp menu.
preferences, it does not show that USB port as a line
    in......
Because it is NOT a line in. MIDI ≠ Audio.
just internal mic and audio line in
    As it should be.
I don't understand why, when going to the audio
settings........both on Mac audio preferences and
GarageBand..........it doesn't show that USB as an
    audio line in.
    Because MIDI ≠ Audio
Also tried with Sound Studio...........a music
recording application that came with my iMac when I
purchased it a couple of years ago. It has worked
with the Mac's audio line in and with the internal
mic.........but doesn't pick up anything from the
    keyboard via USB cable in.
Because there is no Audio to pick up. MIDI ≠ Audio.
Could the length of my USB cable have anything to do
with this? I am using a 15-ft. USB 2.0 cable.
    No.

  • I have a Yamaha DGX220 Piano Keyboard Does anyone of you out there experience the same problem?

I have a Yamaha DGX220 Piano Keyboard and I have downloaded their driver. After downloading and installing there is no interfacing with the computer, it doesn't recognize the Yamaha Midi driver.
Does anyone of you out there experience the same problem? I have downloaded the Mavericks OS.. The Yamaha company thinks there is a bug within Mavericks that causes this no connection issue.

    Hi,
Would you explain what remote MIDI sequencer is?
Your keyboard has a bulit-in Music recording device. This is actually a buiti-in digital MIDI music sequencer. It can also, output through the MIDI connectors the MIDI sequence to either software on a computer or other external MIDI devices like dedicated sound modules or computer software sound modules or software sequencers
I use both software MIDI music software sequencers and a dedicated hardware MIDI music recording sequencer in my system.
Dedicated digital MIDI hardwaremusic sequencers do the same things as the bulit-in sequencer on your keyboard and computer software music recording sequencing.
Digital MIDI music sequencers DO NOT RECORD SOUNDS.
They record things like what keys are pressed on the musical keyboard, how much key sensitivity and pressure was applied, other parameters like if you change the pitch of the keyboard up and down by half steps, the sound number and sound bank number, records pedal information, records wheel and pitch bend wheel information, records other MIDI active button  controller information, etc.
Basically, keyboard sequencers, hardware sequencers and software sequencers record the performance nuances of your playing and NOT the actual sounds that you are hearing.

  • Record the voices built into Yamaha keyboard onto Garageband

I've successfully connected my Yamaha keyboard to record the Software instruments in Garageband.
Conversely, how do I record the voices built into my Yamaha keyboard onto Garageband?
    Thanks.

    1. Plug the Line-Out of the keyboard into the line-in on your computer
    2. Create a New Basic Track
    3. Press record.
    4. There is no 4

  • HT2693 Downloaded the piano keyboard app and will not work at all...also no sound.  This app only.    Refund??

I downloaded the piano keyboard app....will not work at all....the screen comes up but no a tigon when trying to use...also no sound.

Try a couple of basic troubleshooting steps,
Quit the app completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Delete the app and reinstall. You will not have to pay for it again as long as you use the same Apple ID that you bought it with. Hold down on the icon until it jiggles, then tap the X on the icon to delete the app. Tap the home button to stop the apps from jiggling. Go back to the App Store purchased tab and download the app again.

I'm using an iPad camera connection kit and a MIDI to USB cable to interface a MIDI keyboard with GarageBand. It works flawlessly... until I use the sustain pedal. Once the pedal is depressed while playing a given note, from then on, the pedal itself plays the note every time it is depressed. It's not the keyboard or the pedal. I've tried others. That leaves the app or the connection between the iPad and the keyboard. I find it hard to believe I'm the only person who is experiencing this problem. Anyone have a fix?

Yes.  There are a ton of write-ups on how to do the connections.   I connect my m-audio Keystation 61 es through the CCK to my iPad and use GarageBand to control it.  Some keyboards require a powered USB hub to make things work.  I use a belkin 4 port hub in my own setup.   Here is a link to tested / verified keyboards that work via the CCK:  http://iosmidi.com/devices/

  • Does the Roll Up Piano work with Garageband?

Hi - wondering if anyone out there has experience with any of the 'roll-up' pianos out there on the market? Here's the cheapest one I could find:
    http://www.mwave.com.au/newAU/mwaveAU/productdetail.asp?sku=49080041
...which also has USB, though there's very little (read: non-existent) info regarding whether it will work with a MIDI app. In my case I'm just interested in Garageband to begin with, then maybe something better later on.
I know these are nowhere near as good as a real keyboard, but I'm not interested in being the next mozart, I just want to dabble now and then and the idea of rolling the keyboard up and stashing it away sounds great, as space is at a premium at my place (plus the idea of an input device that's bigger than the computer doesn't seem right)!
There are other models on the 'net which have a standard MIDI port, but I was hoping to avoid a USB->MIDI adapter...
    Ahy feedback/help welcome!

I do live in the wonderful land of Oz.
The roll-up capability intrigued me mainly because of space. I could whack it in a drawer or between books on my bookshelf when not in use...and it would only be occasional use, not daily or even weekly. Probably in short stints when I use GB for a short project.
In the meantime I also found this one:
    http://www.hecsaninc.com/pro.html
...it has a MIDI connection, so I assume I'd just need a USB->MIDI adapter. There are several other ones floating around, from what I understand they're all the same but have slightly different branding. It would be good to find one locally to play with one but they're so cheap I might just buy one and see how I go.

  • Piano Keyboard pedal

Hello, I have hooked up me Yamaha midi-keyboard to my iMac and started recording. The only problem ive encountered so far is adding pedal to my piano tracks. As I don't have a pedal for my keyboard I tried to do it digitally. +(I'm not entirely sure about the word in english, pedal: extending the sound of each note, i'm sure you get my point).+ Is this possible to add digitally in garageband? Or do I need to buy a physical pedal for my keyboard? Thanks in advance

If you open the Piano roll you will see 4 menu's in the left side bar. The top one called 'View' has an option to modify/add sustain to your MIDI notes. Have you tried this?

  • Why doesnt it play the synthesized sounds from my Keyboard in garageband

why wont garageband play all my cool sound effects from my keyboard? Its just outputing the grand piano. and I can then change it using the preset sound effects in Garageband but how do i directly record the sounds from my Keyboard?

    Andronikosxx wrote:
so your saying to plug the audio cable into the Phones/Output area of the keyboard into the headphones of the MAC?
Be sure to re-read those instructions. You don't go into the Mac's headphone jack as that is an output. You need to connect to the Mac's line-in (which, on mine, is right next to the headphone jack).
