How is this a LabVIEW question?
Talk to Allen-Bradley since they apparently own the rights to the Rslinx software.

  • Is it possible to create a control file without the datafiles

    Hi All,
Is it possible to create a control file without the datafiles?
on any OS or DB version
    regards,
    sachin

    if I understand properly:
    - you have a script to recreate the controlfile
    - you have all of your database files backed up except your controlfiles
This should work as this is how we sometimes refresh dev databases:
    1) restore the copies of the database files
    2) recreate the controlfile
    3) recover the database files to the desired point in time (if hot backup or archivelogs are available, otherwise, it would be as of the time of the backup)
    4) add temp files to temporary tablespace(s)
The simpler solution would be to backup your controlfile at the same time as your datafiles (RMAN or o/s copy).
I hope I understood your question properly.

  • Is it possible to re-install iWork 09 without the physical CD?

I bought iWork 09 two years ago from an Apple store in the UK but have since moved abroad to Australia.
I installed the software on my MacBook (late 2008 model) but have since had to replace the hard drive so it is no longer installed.
Is it possible to re-install iWork 09 without needing to pay to re-download it from the App store? I have the serial numbers and barcodes but not the physical disc with me.
    Thanks

The physical DVD required no serial number. If you have lost that yes you will need to buy the M.A.S version with the consolation that it is cheap here and can be installed on all your Macs at no extra charge.
If you have a serial number it is possible you bought the downloadable version, in which case use that to install and use the serial number when prompted.

  • Possible to play Movie in Logic without the sequence playing too?

In Digital Performer, you can un-lock (un-sync) the Movie window so that you can click on its Quicktime Play button and play it independently from the sequence. This way you can experiment with different start times for the music for other parts of the film you're working on. It looks like this is not possible in Logic 8. The Movie window is ALWAYS playing when the sequence is playing, and you cannot play the Movie by itself just to watch it alone. Is there a way around this?

    O.K.
Before you go ahead I would suggest you make a copy of your iDVD application as a backup just in case anything goes wrong. Also make sure it's not running.
Next right-click on the iDVD app and choose "Show Package Contents" - it will open just like a folder.
The theme resides in this location:
    iDVD/Contents/Resources/20TransparentBlack.theme
The theme files are packages just as the application itself so right-click it and go to:
    20TransparentBlack.theme/Contents/Resources/MenuBackground.pox/Contents/Material/
    Inside there's a TIFF file
    CB7F3266-25EA-11D8-9A70-000393AE67F4.tif
That's the one that needs to be edited; open it in PS Elements.
The next step requires you to access the image's alpha channel, not sure if that's possible in Elements but here it goes.
The alpha channel should look greyish, that's because it half-transparent. Select all (Apple-A) and fill the channel with pure black, that will make it totally transparent so it won't show anymore.
Save the file, close it and also close all open iDVD folders.
Start iDVD by double-clicking - the theme should now appear without the black band.
One word of caution: I only applied this modification very recently and haven't used the theme yet to actually burn a DVD so you might want to keep a copy of the original in a safe location.
    Cheers Martin
PS: here are some tutorials on customizing iDVD 3 although I think the principles still apply to iDVD 4:

  • What are the Grid Control basic features  (without the licensed packages)

    Hi everyone,
I'm all new to OEM Grid Control and I've been asked to write a document that sums up and explains all the OEM features (Database ones only).
The reason I created this thread is because I have a problem doing that. Indeed, Oracle insists on their licensed packages in their documentation and doesn't make very clear what's available without any of those packages.
I've been looking for some other documentation than Oracle one but without much success.
I really have to know the features available without those packages because I've been asked to determine whether or not Diagnostic Pack, Tuning Pack and Configuration pack are necessary (i.e If we have to purchase the licenses)
So could anyone tell me precisely what's available without those packages or link me some sources I could use?
Thank you very much in advance
    Olivier

    Hi Erika,
Unfortunately, it appears to be true: to be able to get notifications and alerts, you need to have the Diagnostics Pack license. Reference the following document: Oracle Enterprise Manager Licensing Information 10g Release 4 (10.2.0.4.0) Chapter 2: Enterprise Database Management:
The Diagnostics Pack includes the following features, which you can use after purchasing a license for the Diagnostics Pack.
    Automatic Workload Repository
    Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor (ADDM)
    Performance monitoring (database and host)
Event notifications: notification methods, rules, and schedules
...In the document that you have cited, I think that "standard" and "out of the box" simply mean that Oracle has these alerts and notifications preconfigured for you when you install the software. But to actually use them, you need to have the appropriate license.

  • Possible to turn on a macbook without the power button?

Basically, the power button on a macbook is connected to the keyboard and the mouse pad, and the connector is now broken. I managed to use the hard drive in a mates laptop and schedule it to turn on at a specific time but im guessing the clock might not be completely accurate so i might have to wait a while. Is it at all possible to power up one of these machines without using the power button?
    Thanks

To wake up your MacBook via an ethernet connection, you could probably adapt what is explained here (he page also list utilities that can be used on OSX and Windows to send the so-called "magic packet" to a computer):

  • Running an EXE from LABVIEW without the 'cmd' window showing

    Hi,
I am currently using the 'system exec.vi' in a LabVIEW application to open files in external executables (mainly Windows Explorer, Acrobat Reader and Word).  This actually works fine and while my application is fairly sleek (even if I do say so myself) I am annoyed by the cmd window that momentarily appears each time I use the 'system exec.vi'.
Is there any way to disable this window?  Or maybe there is another way of opening the files altogether?
I am using LabVIEW 8.0 on Windows XP Pro.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thankyou for your comments...
I do buy LV as part of a developer suite so could use the toolkit you mentioned.  While PDF's and Word docs are the main files I open they are not the only.  I guess I could open different file types different ways.  I just hoped there was a better all round way to do it.
As far as Windows Explorer goes...  My application is a file manager targetted directly at the file structures we use for developing functional test applications.  The application handles all the file management requirements (i.e. WIP Backups, deploying, zipping/archiving etc) and its an added feature that you can 'explore' a given folder directly from the application.  The general idea is that all our developers create systems using the same structure and approach.

Have you looked at the VI in vi.lib\Platform\browser.llb\Open a Document on Disk.vi. It opens the document passed in according to its file ending and attempts to communicate with the target application through DDE if possible before using the command line. Even then I have not seen a cmd window popup so far.

  • Is It Possible to Hide Applications on PPC Without the Icon Color Fade

I use Apple + H to hide applications when i'm not using them but i'd like it for the icon not to change to a faded version of itself when i hide it. I know on my Intel Mac Mini it doesn't change the icon but i was wondering if it was possible on my iBook to have the same no-icon-change happen.

Are you talking about the Dock icon for the app? If so, it doesn't do that here. Create a new admin user account, log into it, and see if the problem's gone. If so, then something's amiss with your Dock settings. If not, then it's system-wide and you might consider reinstalling the 10.4.2 COMBO update or, better yet, the 10.4.8 COMBO update.

  • Is it possible to use a cRIO controller without the FPGA backplane?

Obviously, I'm talking about the modular units (cRIO9014 or 9025) and not the all-in-one models. If we have no IO/FPGA requirements for an application, can we just use the controller by itself? I realize this isn't the most optimum use of this hardware, but we are dealing with a requirement.
    Thanks,
    Chris
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Chris,
    yes, you can.
You're limited to the in/outs of the controller itself (USER switch, USER LED, LAN-Port, maybe RS232), but you can run the controller on it's own...

  • How to install eLearning Suite silently without the license agreement prompt

I was able to install the eLearning Suite 1.0 by following the guideline "How to install Captivate Silently".  I used the "setup --mode=silent --deploymentFile=install.xml" method, and that worked except one thing.  Adobe Air prompted for a License Agreement, and I also got a demo screen pop up.  How do I supress these two pop ups when using the silent mode setup?  I know how to do this for Captivate, but folder structures are different in eLearning Suite.
    Thanks.

    Bob,
Let me know if this summary is correct:
    1. If possible allways let Vista install apps in default directories.
    2. Adobe apps and their newer versions are by default installed in new directories (except for Acrobat). For example CS4 MC would be installed as a completely seperate entity from CS 3 MC. Another example, eLearning Suite 4 would be installed as a completely seperate entity from CS 3 MC. Therefore all settings in each newly installed application need to be set up. Does each application then have its own unique data directory structure?
    3. Since each Suite is a separate entity each license is seperate. This avoids cross license issues between different Suites.
    4. If a user allways wants the same (latest) version of an application to load then one must manually uninstall old versions in the other Suites.
For example, as a default install eLearning Suite 4 would be a completely seperate entity from CS 3 MC. The user would then delete the following older CS3 applications (as the newer versions are in eLearning Suite 4):
    Photoshop CS3 Extended
    Flash CS3 Professional
    Dreamweaver CS3
    Soundbooth CS3
Except for Acrobat as the default install would have updated the CS3 version.

  • Can I install Windows 7 without the disk?

I can download Windows 7 through my college, so I won't get the disk, is it possible to install through Boot Camp without the 7 disk?

They are both right. Hatter's reply would be perfect if you were at a college or university that provides Windows 7 to students through a site license. Some schools provide the physical media - a bootable installer DVD. Other schools provide a download of a special installer package usually in the form of a Windows executable - filename.EXE. Unfortunately, you cannot use it on a Mac. You have to run it on a Windows computer in order to extract the ISO disc image. Some schools can just provide you with the ISO disc image. Once you have the ISO image on your Mac you can burn it to a blank DVD-R that can be used to install Windows 7 on your Boot Camp partition.
An alternative to Boot Camp is to use Parallels, or VM Fusion, or VirtualBox to create a virtualization of Windows on the Mac that runs concurrently with OS X. You also have the advantage that VM software will install Windows from the ISO disc image instead of needing it burned to a DVD. VirtualBox is freeware.
