Hi all,
About 1 million documents stored in a BLOB column. My requirement is to be able to add in a Report
a preview picture of the file in the BLOB, like print preview. The best solution might be a snapshot of the first 10 rows ...just to understand type of document and Title

This is what I am doing.
1. I have created a push button.
2. I have selected the system action as hyperlink
3. I have provided the following url for test in the hyperlink : "http://www.google.com"
4. Saved, compiled and deployed but the button doesn't show any behavior when clicked.
Am I missing something?

I cannot open all email attachment files(pdf, doc, etc) in Mail on my New IPad. I installed all viewer apps but I am not able to click and hold to select the option of viewer apps to open the files. I dont get the "open with" option when I click on the arrow in the menu bar. I can open attachment files on G-mail website from Safari though. It is really ridiculous that I cannot open the files from Apple Mail app! What's wrong with it!!

We cannot possible know what's wrong with it. But we can offer suggestions that might help.
Try resetting the iPad - its like rebooting a computer.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This might help as well.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again

Files, PDF-docs, attached to my email, Macbook Pro, are missing

The files, PDF-docs, that I attach to my mail, Macbook Pro OS 10.7.5., are missing when the receiver opens the mail.
In this case the receiver is a MS Windows/Office user.
Weird problem! Any idea for how to solv this?

i have the same issue, i do not want to use Microsoft outlook, i want to use mac mail.
i have a PST file which its size is around 18 GB, i used PST Converter PRO, but it converted the PST file to a folder contans subfolder and files, the size of these folders are 68 MB.
i tired to import this new folder to mac mail, it was giving a message that will be discplayed under folder name "Import", but unfortunately, there was nothing added.

I've currently been working on loading many external binary files (PDF) into BLOB column. After some digging, I learn that the SQL*LOADER can be used to load data from external files into table. I also got help from another forummate mentioning to use PL/SQL procedure to do so. Since I have not done anything like this before. So, my question is what is the simple approach needed to upload PDF files into a table(there is only one table containing BLOB column in my database). In addition, the LOBs can not be query-able, I wanted to list the contents of the LOBs column to make sure that I did successfully upload data into the database. How can I do that?. I do need your help. Please direct me step by step how to do so. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I have 199 emails in gmail to be saved to a file. I do not use the Mail app on the iBook. I found a way to use a gmail gadget, but it would mean going into each and every email and saving as a document.

If you're syncing the documents from iBooks to your computer using iTunes, you can just sync them onto your new iPad the same way.
If you don't feel the need to use iBooks, you can use a cloud storage app like Dropbox or a file management app like Goodreader.

Linking to local files (PDFs, Docs) from Flash - for CD Rom

Hi all,
I've been struggling for a couple of days with this one issue
- any help or advice greatly appreciated.
I'm creating a CD Rom using flash (will ultimately compile it
as an exe) and on this CD Rom will be several PDFs and Word docs
that need to be linked to. Are there any rules or specific criteria
for doing this? I've been trying a simple getURL and it absolutely
won't work (the file path gets jumbled up).
Any suggestions?
I'm working in CS3, using AS2.

Is it possible to select multiple files on the W8.1U1's SEARCH RESULTS window page? For instance, if 10 CPP files are found by the seraching mechanism, can I select all 10 files and have them open in Visual Studio at once?

sorry in advance for what probably is a dumb question with a
simple solution.
i realize i can preview images in the assets panel-- but is
it possible to preview image files while in the files panel
instead?
i have a lot of images organized within folders in the files
panel-- so it's easier there to locate and visulalize an image--
than scrolling down the long list in the assets panel.

Hello,
I don't believe there is a way to view images in the files
panel.
However, there's a quick way to see them if you're using
Windows.
Select your image folder in the Files Panel.
Right click and choose "Explore".
It opens a window where you can see all the images in that
folder.
It's much faster than scrolling through the assets, clicking
the file names
and reading the paths to know where they are.
This is very handy whether you have image folders in
different directories
(for organization and cleaner img src paths in the pages
within the
directory) or if you just dump them all in a folder in the
root.
On my wishlist: Hover over the image name in the files panel
and a small
box, like a tool tip, displays the image.
Maybe someday.

Preview "breaks" my pdf files

I am working on a remote directory, mounted with sshfs. I create pdf files in this directory with pdflatex.
Whenever I open a pdf file (made with pdflatex) using preview, it creates a dot-underscore file that is apparently "broken:"
If I close preview, then try to reopen the file again, preview says "file.pdf is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the trash".
However, if I delete the dot-underscore file, I can open the file fine with preview (although it will again create a "broken" dot-underscore file).
I should note that the pdf files I create can be read just fine by all types of viewers - they are for a class I teach and students read them with all sorts of devices and operating systems.

You can delete the attributes in the Terminal with:
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine filename
Or from a whole directory with:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine diretoryName
I'm not sure why Preview is adding these to existing files. There are loads of pages about how Apple's quarantine system works, though.

Upload of a test file (PDF or Office)

Is there a possibility to upload a file (pdf or office) to a Netweaver System (Abap 7.02) via browser without doing (too much) customizing?
I just need it for testing a Virus-Scanner, no Business szenrio is needed. Maybe there is a sicf Service for Testing?

For a variety of reasons, mostly related to security, the iOS operating system limits what can be done with respect to file uploading and downloading. But whenever you encounter a limitation like this always think, "There must be an app for this."

Convert multiple files (word docs) to multiple pdf

Hi,
Is there a script I can use in batch processing to convert about 1500 word documents into pdf? I know it's possible to convert multiple files into one pdf, but this is no good to me. Doing these conversions one by one is going to take forever!
I've tried selecting a few documents at a time and then selecting "convert to pdf" from the right-click menu, but each one requires that you tell it where to save, and then opens the file when it is done.
I need to convert Word files on a regular basis for work, and could really use a batch process for this with so many to do!
I have Acrobat 7 Pro (version 7.1.0) on XP Pro SP 2 at work, and Acrobat 8 Pro (Version 8.1.2) on XP Pro SP 3 at home.
If there is anyway it's possible to do this via a batch process I would really appreciate knowing how!!

I have Acrobat 9 Pro. I can batch convert Word docs to PDFs by doing this:
1. Open Acrobat Pro. Click File > Create PDF > Batch Create Multiple Files...
2. A window will open prompting you to add files. Click Add Files > Add Files... OR Add Folders... If adding a folder, navigate to it, and click OK to add it to the list. You can also select a bunch of files and drag & drop them into the Add Files window.
3. Once you have all the files listed that you want to convert, click OK. A new window called Output Options will open. In this window, select your preferred settings. For me, I want all the new PDFs to have the same filename and be in the same folder as the Word docs, so I choose these settings:
4. Click OK, and then the batch process will begin running. You will see Word opening and closing. However, you won't have to click Save or anything. You can run it unattended. The process takes a little while, so I usually set up a batch to run, then go to lunch. Once finished, you should have all your new PDFs:

Obviously, you are talking about the mail app, so force close the mail app and reset your iPad. If that fails, reset all settings.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.

1013 File Adpter pick .pdf, .doc files and make it available in Worklist

I am using 10.1.3 version. I have a file adapter that polss on a directory and picks up any file dropped in the folder can doc, pdf. I have a Human Task that a user looks at a file and then APPROVE or REJECT or if possible make changes to a file too.
Now how do I pick-up a file using File Adapter and make it available in Human Task (Worklist). I did look at DocumentReview Sample but it accepts some URL as a parameter but in my case I want to have a file i.e. pdf, doc etc. How can I handle this. Any help is appreciated.

I can add the converted document to PDF as a attachment to the XDP form in the workspace.
I am strugling now with that envelope (the XDP), cant render it to PDF and than workspace enable it. I will have a look around the web because it will be there. One question is can I control permitions on the attachment? I want just read only permitions.
