Is PS3's XrossMediaBar interface possible in Flash?

I'm interested in recreating the flowing waves in the background.
They are curvy lines with an outer glow, slowly waving independently and blending together.
Is this even possible in Flash 10+?

I would say it is all doable in Flash, though the part that I'd be wary of would be animating the folks in the chairs... a smooth animation could be costly in file size, and I don't know what to recommend for creating that animation. I haven't dealt much with video, but I know that you can interupt a currently playing video to play another based on a small project I did.

I know a flashed 7800 gtx is available for a late g5, but wondering if an 8800 gtx can be flashed to do the same.

Not possible to flash because there's no open firmware image to flash with. You'd have to write the FCode from scratch. And since the 8800 is a different generation from the 7800 for which a rom image is available, the changes in the rom will very likely be non-trivial (i.e. not just changing some ids).
However, I've recently read that the hackintosh folks are using so called Injectors in order to use normal PC cards without EFI firmware. As far as I understand, the situation is very similar to using a PC card in a g5. You'd lose the OF screens, but once the OS X driver gets control, it should be business as usual. I'd be interested in hearing whether anyone has pursued this strategy on the ppc macs?

AS2: Synchronous MDN request but no synchronous interface possible?

in our AS2 scenario with the Seeburger Adapter we request the MDN synchronously and we also would like to use a synchronous interface for this.
But obvisouly this is not possible as you have to create a separate sender communication channel for reports and a sender agreement (where I have to use an outbound or abs interface).
Is there really no way to use a synchronous interface for that scenario as we need to get the response back synchronously for handling in integration server.

So basically my idea was to use a synchronous send step in the integration process and then call a proxy when we have received the MDN.
Even when you use sync MDN with report protocol, you can send message to Integration Engine and process further. You should be able to use this message in BPM also and then it could be sent to receiver proxy.
the SAP sender wants to be notified in case there was a transmission problem and this can only be handled automatically with a synchronous interface.
If you are already using BPM in your scenario, then use of sync scenario is no longer a limitation. You can try correlating the MDN with the AS2 request message.

Is this possible - Import Flash swf which then imports an external swf

Hi,
I was wondering if it's possible to (as the title says) to import an swf which itself imports an external swf?
Explanation - I've got an scrollbar created in flash...and to keep it tidy i've created the scroll 'content' as another swf which is imported into the scrollbar swf.
Whenever i publish/render the project the scroll bar appears but the content does not.
Is it possible to do this?
Captivate > imports flash > which imports external swf

Yes that shouldn't be a problem at all. You probably won't be able to see it working when you preview the project from within Captivate but if you publish it and manually copy/paste the external swf to the publish directory, it should work just fine.

I have a client that needs a CDrom with data update
capabilities.
I've never have done something similar, but I thought some
like this could
(or not!) be done:

has this capability as it is made for web mainly.

It depends also on what you call "Flash". If that's a full fledged Flash applet, with ActionScript code and such, I remain on my position. Although I believe there are some attempts to do a Flash reader in pure Java, it might be something to search for.
If that's just reading .flv movies, the MediaPlayer can do that.

Recording a series of mouse clicks possible with Flash?

I am having a go at developing a drum machine and I have a collection of buttons that play audio.
Is there a piece of code, or somewhere I can search to record a series of mouse clicks, ideally against a timer that I could then play back?
I have no idea if this is possible (I am sure it is) or what to search for.

you can record mouse clicks but timing in flash is approximate so may not be suitable for what you want.
you can use getTimer() to record the number of ms that have transpired since your app started. and you can use mouse click listeners to record when the mouse is clicked.

Is it possible for Flash Remoting to do this?

I was wondering if it is at all possible to program a Flash
site for Flash Remoting and use a database on another server? Of
course we have access to the server and could place and script
there to use the database.

Safari and Firefox Problems... possibly with flash plugin.

A couple days ago out of nowhere Firefox was crashing whenever i went to... well, most websites. Most noticeably Youtube and Tumblr. So I downloaded the newest versions of firefox and a plugin that was out of date, and the Flash plugin. It still crashed-- nothing changed.
So I moved on to Safari, it didnt crash when i went onto those sites. but i get a pop up message all the time, especially on those sites...

thats the message.. theres a lot more. But that makes me think its something wrong with the Flash plugin. Maybe the same thing is wrong with Firefox...
I have tried uninstalling with the uninstaller from the adobe website and reinstalling.

No, the old album list view is not an option in iTunes 11...
You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
If you still feel the need to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and supporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

Is this possible in flash?

I have been mostly programming in java and new to flash. I am designing a web based webcam/video application. I need following functionality. Can this be done in flash? For the purposes of this discussions, the application is basically many to many webcam based video chat.
1) blurring of the webcam video on remote computer. Meaning the other person will see your stream blurred. Will I be able to achieve this by just low frame rate transmission? that way I can save the bandwidth as well? or I will have to use special effects in the flash. I do not want to have a blank window during inactive time. There is some value for the blurred motion in my application design.
2) when the user on remote computer wishes to chat with you then he/she will either move the cursor on the flash player or click a buttton to activate the chat. This will create some kind The activation basically takes the blurring away. Then the regular video chat begins.

try:
1) can you assign a "variable" to the size attribute? like
mclip.size=myvariable;
and then changing it?
2) can you use something to "record" the current size of the
"inside movie clip" like StoringVariable=this.size;
and then call it again later?
3)can you siply not "reassign" the size two times?
like for one "button click:
on (release)
movieclipparent.size=something;
movieclipinside.size=something else;
I think its definitely possible...
Have a look at the Keyword "_parent" or "this" for example...
or "_root.moviclip.movieclip"

Transparent Artboard Possible in Flash 8?

I am working on a site at the moment and I need the artboard
to be transparent as the site itself it's completely rectangle (i
have one corner which is curved off). The reason i need the
artboard to be transparent is because the html background is going
to be a photograph and not a solid colour so i can't fill in the
areas i want to be cut off with the same colour.
