  • Uninstalling Quicktime Preview for Windows

Hi. I bought an iPod some days ago and was gonna install iTunes. As the installation proceeded right at the end this shows up:
"This installer cannot upgrade the Preview of Quicktime 7 for Windows. You must first remove it." or something like that as I am Swedish.
I have uninstalled everything I could that had something with Quicktime to do, I have cleaned the registry and also searched for 'Quicktime' and removed everything there.
Though still I cannot install either iTunes or QuickTime.
    Appreciate answers.

QuickTime for windows error -2048 has been consistant for many moons. With not opening file formats that are not supported. Unlikely caused by a battery or camera...

  • How to contact developer support for QuickTime SDK for Windows

I have been trying to find a number to contact developer support regarding an issue with QuickTime SDK for Windows.

I always ended up with AppleCare support and they directed me to this page http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3459#discussions which has broken links..
If someone has contacted them before please let me know.
Thank you very much in advance.

  • QuickTime SDK for Windows for Rez.exe

YAHSHUA YHWH GOD BLESS you, Where can i download QuickTime SDK for Windows so i can get the Rez.exe resource editor?

    Hello again
We figured out a way to access the texture, which made it possible for us to do a simple deinterlace by removing every second line of the output.
By converting to a surface we where able to copy data to a new surface which we could lock...
Probably not the fastest most elegant way - but it seems to work alright

  • Quicktime Pro for Windows

I bought Quicktime Pro for windows because of the beautiful advertisement. It had to be possible to convert every video into every format possible.
I tried to convert several mpg en mov files (from Sony camera) into mp4 and 3GP. Playing of these mpg and mov- files in QT is not a problem, even with audio. So it doesn't seem a codec problem. But after exporting these files into other format, there is no audio anymore.
If I change a mov or mpg file and save it in the same file-format, audio is not corrupted.
What is it that I do wrong?
    Dell Inspiron 9300   Windows XP

QT does not export sound from muxed mpeg files: QT Mpeg Limitations. This freeware should do the trick: Mpeg StreamClip
If the mpegs in question are mpeg-2 you will need to buy the mpeg2playbackcomponent from Apple ($20 US). Note that these programs will not work with encrypted Hollywood movies.

  • How to transfer Quicktime Pro for windows to mac?

My step-father recently purchased quicktime pro for windows. Oddly enough he received his new iMac about a week later. While trying to activate Quicktime Pro on his mac he realized that pro purchased for windows will only work on windows. Is there anyway to transfer the purchase to mac?

Sorry, you (he) have to buy a separate license for QT Pro for Mac.

  • Text tracks no longer visible in Quicktime Pro for Windows 7.7.2?

I opened a text track in Quicktime Pro 7.7.2, and none of the text was visible. I verified with a text track that I know used to work a few months ago, and it also was not visible.
I rolled back to Quicktime Pro 7.6 for Windows, and re-opened the files, and they worked again. Has anyone else encountered this issue? I know the 7.7.2 update involved a security patch to the way text tracks were handled.
    Thanks.

    I love computers.
Have managed to fix this already. Been working the issue for a few days now, and a few minutes after writing the above post I decided to reset the Time Capsule to factory default settings.
After entering all my details again (used same network names, passwords etc) the Time Capsule was rebooted. When it came back on line - guess what? Yep, the MyBook WD drive is now visibile. I can connect via the network from my other machines to the drive, and iTunes is back.
So - thought I would post my resolution in case it helps others.

  • Command line Quicktime encoding for windows?

I think you can script quicktime to encode on the Mac using applescript, but can you do the samething for windows?
    Maybe something like:
    c:\quicktime.exe /profile /inputfile /outputfile
and viola! Out comes my encoded files!
I'd love to automate my encoding process but I can't seem to find a way to do it.

  • Troubles with Tunes (+ QuickTime) 6 for Windows

Impossible to update to, install or reinstall the latest version of iTunes (+ Quicktime).
I always receive the following error messages:
    - with iTunesSetup, the InstallShield Wizard gives:
    - when repairing => error -3
    - when removing + reinstalling => error -3
and afterwards restarting iTunes => error - 2093
    - with QuickTimeInstaller, the Installshield Wizard gives:
    - when installing => error - 1603
So, I don't succeed to reinstall both programs iTunes and QuickTime and I have no longer access to my music.
Who can solve this problem. Wherefore thanks in advance.
    Eve

Eve, you win HANDS DOWN for the funkiest name that I have ever witnessed!!!!
I hope that I can come through for you after you blew me away with that moniker! Here is a post that I added two weeks ago. It includes a solution that worked for me. I hope that it works for you! Good luck.
    Hey troubled Podheads,
I was one of the legion with problems in downloading iTunes6 and QT7 for Windows until I tried something (I must say that I am not a pc wizard and I don't know the technical reasons for why the following worked, it just did! So if there are any pc geeks out there, be sure to chime in). Anyway, this is what I did. First uninstall QuickTime if you do have it on your pc. If not, just go to the next step:
Go to START, then RUN. Type in regedit and then click OK. Your REGISTRY EDITOR should open. You should see HKEYLOCALMACHINE in the scroll down menu on the left, with a small box to its left. Make sure that the inside of the box has a negative sign - this will open up the next set of subfolders. Next, make sure that the subfolder, SOFTWARE, has a negative sign in the small box to its left. Next, make sure that there is a negative sign in the box next to the subfolder entitled, Apple Computer, Inc. You'll see at least three subfolders: iPod, iTunes and QuickTime. Click once on the QuickTime folder until it is highlighted and then delete it. You will be asked if you want to delete QuickTime and its subfolders. Click ok and then close out the Registry Editor.
Next, download the stand alone QuickTime 7 at this link (you may have to cut and paste this link to open this website):
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html
When you download the stand alone QT7, you may get a couple of error messages (I did), but if you repeatedly click ok (like I did), the QT7 player should load with no problems.
Again, I am no pc geek, but this worked for me and I have gained access to iTunes6 (with video capacity) and my complete library is intact. Nothing like trial and error!! Good luck -- I hope this works for all of you frustrated Podheads out there!

  • Quicktime Pro for Windows crashes after flattening file

I'm running QuickTime Pro 7.7.1 for Windows.  A few weeks ago, I opened an M4V file, cut out some segments, and invoked "Save As" a quicktime .MOV file.  Given the option to save as a "reference" movie or a "self contained" movie, I chose "reference" movie.  Said "reference" movie plays exactly as I intended, as long as the original M4V file is present.  Today I wanted to eliminate that requirement, so I opened the reference movie and saved it again to a new .MOV file, this time choosing the "self contained" option.  A "flattening movie" dialog appeared, and when it got to 100%, Quicktime crashed!
I tried the same experiment, one running Windows XP Pro and one running Windows 7 Pro, and got the same result each time.  What can I do now?

I haven't [yet] tried it with other M4V files, but I will and get back to you.
BTW, after it crashed, I restarted QuickTime and opened the newly-created "self contained" movie and it seemed to play OK,  So despite the inconvenience of having to restart, the crash didn't seem to affect the end product of my work.

  • Quicktime 7 for windows will not install.

I know that all videos on apple.com require the latest version of quicktime, so I follow the links to the download page. I download quicktime 7 for XP or Vista. When I run the program installer, it tells me I must either 'repair' or 'remove' quicktime. I click repair and i suposedly repairs it. After it tells me quicktime was successfuly installed, so I returns to the apple.com website (after having to close it whilst downloading) and click on the video I wish to view, but it says I must install quicktime 7 to veiw these videos. Please help, I must have downloaded quicktime 30 times and it still doesn't work. Any advice would help, so please get back to me.

im having the same problems, i must have installed it 20 times too! please help

  • How do I get Quicktime Pro for Windows to save audio files?

No matter what I do QTP for Windows only saves .mov files. I am trying to create a new audio recording but the only file type I can save is movies. I bought this product specifically to try and migrate old cassette music to itunes. Any clues as to how I should go about it?

Have you tried Audio Capture software? This is dead easy on a Mac, plug it in and use something like SoundFlower (free) or Audio Hijack Pro to grab the sound.
If you have registered QT Pro you should get:
Menu > File > Export (Options): a wide range of formats
May I ask why you are doing this? Unless the tape version is unique, you should avoid recording from old tape as it is the worst of all worlds. The quality is bad and changing it to digital is not going to make it better even with a lot of editing.
Just bite the bullet and get CDs (which you can easily save to digital from iTunes) or buy the digital version directly. That way is much less painful and you have something you may actually want to listen to.

  • Looking for experience of QuickTime API for Windows

    Hello,
I have an application which calls the QuickTime JAVA API provided by Apple.
Every time I'm trying to update to a new QuickTime version (for example to QT 7.6.1), I got compatibility problems.
It seems the API have not been changed since 2003.
Is there an alternate way that to connect to QT from the Apple java API ?
Is there a good soul around there to share his/her experience with me ?
    Thanks
    Gege

You should ask your questions on the Quicktime Java API mailing list:
    http://lists.apple.com/mailman/listinfo/quicktime-java
Though it is almost equally unsupported by its originators as JMF, QTJ does work for 90% of what it promises rather than just 10. I'm sure people on the mentioned list can help you out. Usually mpg - and millions of other formats - work just fine in Quicktime java.
