Is Rational Test Manager (or Rational Test Robot) certified?

Hello colleagues and SAP users,
I hope this is the right forum to ask.
Here in Italy, a client of ours is conducting its own internal test (that it wants us to evaluate) using the Rational Team Test suite, and more specifically Rational Test Manager to run the tests, and Rational Test Robot to log the results.
I would like to know it those programs are certified by SAP, as I didn't found them in any note.
More in general, I'd be very grateful if you could explain to me how to discover whether a given product is SAP-certified or not.
Thank you so much everybody
Marco Baiocco

Dear Marco,
In general, anyone can search for certified products on our online product directory at http://www.sap.com/softwarepartnerdir/. The directory can be browsed by company name or searched by product keyword/category.
For your specific query, Rational has only one product certified by SAP i.e. "Rational Test ERP Extension I". You can find more about the product at http://www50.sap.com/softwarepartnerdir/companyname/company.asp?partnerid=20932. This integration was certified in 1998/1999 and so is valid upto SAP R/3 4.5 only. For latest SAP releases, they need to come for re-certification.
We are not aware of relationship between "Rational Test ERP Extension I" and other products as mentioned by you.
Hope the above clarifies.

  • Does SAP test and certify MII against the latest operating system patches?

    Does SAP test and certify MII against the latest operating system patches?

    If by latest OS patches you mean - does SAP retest MII every time MS puts out a new patch or critical update, then the answer would be no (probably not overly surprising).
    This would be more impacted in 11.5 because of IIS and the only-Windows operating system, but with v12.x and the platform/OS combinations supported by NetWeaver, MII is really abstracted from the O/S through NetWeaver so that would be the angle to pursue with regard to re-testing and validation.  I most assuredly cannot speak to the validation process for NetWeaver pertaining to operating system patches and updates, but I would assume OS service pack levels would be dealt with according to release cycles, but it would be very reactive for every patch that comes along for each of the operating systems in the matrix (http://service.sap.com/pam).

  • Ideas for tension and compression test stand

    Hello,
    I currently work for a company that manufactures weigh scale
    devices.  A majority of the devices are either patient weight
    scales ( the kind you stand on at the doctors ) or a tension load cell
    (displays patient weight when on a lifter).  Typically the devices
    can weigh up to 1000lbs full scale.
    My job usually consists of performing engineering test / evaluation of
    these devices.  A majority of the testing involves me slinging
    massive amounts of weight all day…  I usually have to do
    repeatability testing, linearity runs (ascending / descending),
    etc.    Currently this technique is purely physical… I
    am looking for ideas to make it a LabView controlled technique that is
    relatively CHEAP.
    Desired:
    1) Relatively accurate (at 1000 lbs) accurate AND REPEATABLE to 0.05 lbs
    2) Once at a particular load it must remain stable to 0.00 lbs ( sometimes air compression devices oscillate)
    3) Can be configured for tension loads or compression loads  (can be manual to configure)
    4) Automation – Would like to run either tension testing OR compression
    testing but to be able to just walk away and have the system
    automagically perform the repeatability/linearity runs, etc.
    Ideas so  far:
    A) A lever arm whose fulcrum point changes based on a linear motor and a known load.
    B  Some kind of linear motor that can be securely mounted
    vertically:  would have to have various types of attachments to
    configure tension / compression testing.
    I haven’t even begun to research linear motors… I don’t even know if they are appropriate or not for the application.
    Any brainstorming ideas would be greatly appreciated
    Thank you for your time

    Personally, I would not try to reinvent the wheel. First to enter my mind is compressive/tensile testing with off-the-shelf equipment from Instron or similar manufacturer. They have highly capable automation/data collection software too. Not cheap as you wanted, but precise, repeatable, traceable, and pretty much out of the box solution, less custom fixturing. Realize you request 0.005% repeatability at 1000lbs full scale, keep in mind the time, cost, and labor you may incur trying to design, build, test, and certify an in-house built solution.
    If not, maybe you can get some ideas by looking at how such equipment works.
    Voice-coil mass drivers may be a means to apply forces.
    May the force be with you

  • JDK for Remote Manager

    Hello,
    I'm facing a problem here, l'd be grateful if someone could help me.
    I'm trying to install Remote Manager in an environment that has Windows Server 2003 64-bits as the OS and Intel Xeon as a processor. The objective is to make Oracle Identity Manager to connect to Microsoft Exchange 2007.
    In Oracle Documentation I found the following instruction:
    "f Microsoft Exchange 2007 is running on 64-bit Microsoft Windows Server, then you must install the 64-bit version of JDK 1.4.2_15 or JDK 1.5 before you install the Remote Manager."
    Here is the link for the documentation: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11223_01/doc.910/e11198/deploy.htm#BGBDIEAE
    The problem is that both versions of JDK don't offer support for Xeon processors and just JDK 1.6 can be installed on architecture x64. (Windows)
    Here is the link for Sun Website wich shows the supported architectures for JDK 1.5: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/system-configurations.html
    And for JDK 1.4.2_15: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/system-configurations.html
    Does anyone had this problem ever? Hope I can find some help in here.
    Regards,
    Richard

    The remote manager is has not been certified with JDK 1.6.
    This basically leaves you with two choices:
    1. Install JDK 1.6 and see if the remote manager runs. If so you have to make the decision of either running an uncertified configuration or try to force Oracle to certify this JDK.
    2. Wait until Oracle certifies JDK 1.6
    I would recommend trying to install JDK 1.6 and run a full set of tests. Then make the decision on if you want to go to production or not.
    Best regards

  • Doing Shift-End using Robot class

    I am trying to use the Robot class to do a Shift-End in order to select the text in a window from the cursor to the end of the line. However, the following code only moves the cursor to the end of the line without selecting the text.
    robot.keyPress(KeyEvent.VK_SHIFT);
    robot.keyPress(KeyEvent.VK_END);
    robot.keyRelease(KeyEvent.VK_END);
    robot.keyRelease(KeyEvent.VK_SHIFT);
    Note that I have been able to make the following code work. So the problem with the code above does not seem to be with the Shift key per se or with the ordering of the statements.
    robot.keyPress(KeyEvent.VK_SHIFT);
    robot.keyPress(KeyEvent.VK_A);
    robot.keyRelease(KeyEvent.VK_A);
    robot.keyRelease(KeyEvent.VK_SHIFT);
    Any idea how to make the Shift-End work? I am using an XP PC.

    My ENTIRE code follows. Not surprisingly, the shiftEnd.actionPerformed gets a nullPointerException during execution. And being new to Java, I get the feeling I might be missing a whole bunch of stuff. For example, do I need to register for events? Do I need to generate a shift-End ActionEvent somehow? It is only the last 4 lines that are at issue here. Everything down to that point accomplishes what I want, i.e., position the mouse in a text window in the upper right-hand corner of my screen, move the cursor to the top of that window, then go down 5 lines. At that point, I want to do the shift-End to select all text in the line.

    robot.keyPress(KeyEvent.VK_DOWN);
    robot.keyRelease(KeyEvent.VK_DOWN);
    robot.delay(1000);
    // Do a shift End
    KeyStroke keyStroke = KeyStroke.getKeyStroke(KeyEvent.VK_END,KeyEvent.VK_SHIFT);
    JTextField textComponent = new JTextField("String");

  • Can captivate work with windows application automate tools

    Hi,
    I am assigned a task to create demos of some web
    applications, I do not want to run the application then click and
    input manually and am willing to use some windows automate tools to
    record my action first, then capture the screen while doing
    automation playback.
    I've recorded some actions with rational robot, but the
    playback is freezed while Captivate is recording. If I stop
    Captivate recording, the automation continues flawlessly.
    So my question is whether captivate can work with windows
    automation tools, if rational robot is not the choice, can anyone
    give me some suggestions?
    Thanks very much!

    Hi, Larry,
    Rational robot is a general-purpose test automation tool (
    http://www.ibm.com/software/awdtools/tester/robot/index.html).
    It can be used to record user input (mouse clicks, keystrokes,
    etc.) and automatically plays back scripts that emulate user
    actions interacting with the GUI of applications under test.
    There are many other applications doing the same work,
    including this one which is written by myself :-) (
    http://swat.sourceforge.net).
    Using Captivate with automation tools is an ideal way to
    create application demos because the automation scripts can be
    easily created. stored and edited. Once I created an automation
    script, It can be played as many times as I want.
    My purpose is to create demos in the following steps:
    1) record user actions interacting with the GUI by an
    automation tool;
    2) edit automation scripts manually to modify something (ie.
    time interval between some actions)
    3) start captivate recording;
    4) use the automation tool to play back automation scripts
    and record the screen by Captivate
    5) edit the demo with Captivate
    6) finish
    But it seems that Captivate is incompatible with all of the
    automation tools I've tested (not only Captivate, Turbodemo,
    TechSmith Camtasia Studio are also incompatible). The automation
    playback is freezed while Captivate is recording. If I stop
    Captivate recording, the playback continues flawlessly.
    I guess it's something related to windows events processing.
    As you can figure out, the automation tools need to capture all the
    windows events generated by target applications, it looks like
    Captivate also captures some windows events of the target
    application and it prevents automation tools from receiving those
    events, so the automation playback is freezed.
    Thanks for you reply and I am looking forward for soon
    hearing from you.

  • Merge InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop together?

    Wouldn’t it be great to have everything you need in one app?
    Actually, there are currently some applications like this.
    Take a look at DAWs. They deal with recorded audio (similar to bitmap) and MIDI (like vector) at the same time.
    And if you are looking for a visual stuff you can check SideFX Houdini. They have several contexts for dealing with the data: 3d models (sops), various input data (chops), compositing context (you can do image color correction, layering etc.), shader context, programming, rendering contexts etc. And you can have each of them any place you want. This + the fully procedural approach makes Houdini one of its kind application that gives you endless possibilities to build complex effects, models and animations. You can even build your own tools, like city generating assets (as seen in Inception or 2012 movies). You can even write music and manipulate robots in this app (if you want to).
    So it is totally possible to fuse those apps together. Certainly it is a huge amount of work. But think of it: you now have to install Phantasm to apply Curves or Hue/Saturation in Illustrator, you have inner shadow in InDesign and Photoshop but not in Illustrator, you have good Paragraph and Character styles in InDesign but half-assed in PS and Illustrator, also grids, object styles, link management and so on. Wouldn’t it be great to have everything at once? Like in Houdini? You choose image and you can do what can be done with raster, you choose text and context changes to show what can be done with text. I’ve been dreaming about it for years.

    Hi, Dov:
    On Mac OS X and Windows, it's possible to easily switch from one OPEN/ACTIVE/RUNNING application to another, with a simple keystroke shortcut.
    So, in a sense, the tools are in one's toolbelt, ready for use, now. Or, from another view, the tools are in the equivalent of a Swiss Army Knife (SAK,) but not quite. Actually, it's usually awkward to switch from one SAK tool to another - depending on where they're located on the SAK body, some combinations of tools can be open at the same time. For example, the corkscrew, awl, or Phillips screwdriver can be open on the back, while a file, scissor, or eating utensil can be open on one or the other end of the front. The user can orient the SAK one way or another to use an open tool. A few tools can be removed, like the tweezer and toothpick, so there's a tad more flexibility.
    The multiple Creative Suite applications can be open at the same time. However, if the computer lacks sufficient resources, there's an awkward delay in switching from one application to another, while resources scramble to meet the users' requests.
    Perhaps the understood but unstated wish is that the tools were more-efficiently integrated, so that switching from one set of functions to another within an integrated application, would demand less from the resources, compared to the current model of switching from one standalone application to another.
    It's a fascinating wish. However, wish with care. Some SAKs used to have lifetime warranties. "If it breaks, we'll replace it." The problem is that when the broken item is returned, the user is without all the tools during the replacement. In the integrated-application model, the analog is when a bug hits, fixing it will require testing the complement of integrated applications to verify that the fix didn't break something somewhere else. Hence, users may be stuck with the buggy version longer, before a fix can be developed, tested, and certified.
    As hardware continues becoming ever-more powerful, eventually, pauses due to switching among independent applications will be less and less annoying.

  • How can I use a 3rd party XML parser such as xerces with OC4J ?

    Hi all tech experts,
    I am using Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) and i have
    installed Portal and Wireless and OracleAS Infrastructure on the same
    computer.
    i tried all the solutions on this thread
    Use of Xerces Parser in out application with Oracle App Server 9.0.4
    but still fighting.
    I have also posted this query on OTN on following thread
    How can I use a 3rd party XML parser such as xerces with OC4J?
    but no reply....
    Please help me on this issue.
    Since OC4J is preconfigured to use the Oracle XML parser which is xmlparserv2.jar.
    i have read the following article which states that
    OC4J is preconfigured to use the Oracle XML parser. The Oracle XML parser is fully JAXP 1.1 compatible and will serve the needs of applications which require JAXP functionality. This approach does not require the download, installation, and configuration of additional XML parsers.
    The Oracle XML parser (xmlparserv2.jar) is configured to load as a system level library of OC4J through it's inclusion as an entry in the Class-Path entry of the oc4j.jar Manifest.mf file. This results in the Oracle XML parser being used for all common deployment and packaging situations. You are not permitted to modify the Manifest.mf file of oc4j.jar.
    It must be noted that configuring OC4J to run with any additional XML parser or JDBC library is not a supported configuration. We do know customers who have managed to successfully replace the system level XML parser and the Oracle JDBC drivers that ship with the product, but we do not support this type of configuration due to the possibility of unexpected system behavior and system errors that might occur from replacing the tested and certified libraries.
    If you absolutely must use an additional XML parser such as xerces, then you have to start OC4J such that the xerces.jar file is loaded at a level above the OC4J system classpath. This can be accomplished using the -Xbootclasspath flag of the JRE.
    i have also run the following command
    java -Xbootclasspath/a:d:\xerces\xerces.jar -jar oc4j.jar
    but no success.
    How could i utilize my jar's like xerces.jar and xalan.jar for parsing instead of OC4J in-built parser ?
    All reply will be highly appreciated.
    Thnx in advance to all.

  • Time control in loops

    Hello!
    I try to make a real-time program run with a more or less constant speed in an iteration.
    Lets say at beginning of the loop "A", there should be "X" milliseconds when loop reach "B".
    The execution time of the code between A and B, may vary.
    I want the time to be quite constant.
    Any sugestions how to handle that?
