Is registration for MS Office 2011 transferable?

Greetins Mac Users,
I have recently found out that my  Harddisk S.M.A.R.T. status is failing.
I recently visited the Mac repair here in my country.
We don't have an Apple store but we do have PowerMac Center, an authorize reseller and repair center.
According to them, I have to reinstall MS Office again after they install the new hard drive and the latest Mac OS mountain lion.
Do I need to buy a new MS Office?
Technically, I have the same Mac just different Harddisk.
Thank you so much for your help.

Greetings Mac User & frequent replier Lowluster,
Unfortunately, now I don't know if this is correct but, because I didn't back up before the PowerMac Center told me that I couldn't use Time Machine now since the file might be corrupted.
They might be right though cause just this weekend I updated Itunes from version 10.5 to version 11.1 and when I tried to use Verify Disk Permissions in the Disk Utility program my new installation of itunes had lots of errors.
I'm not into fluent with computer harward or software so I am asking a lot of questions.
Thank you all for your replies and patience.

  • So when I installed the most recent updates for microsoft office 2011 for mac, my ical info disappeared.  Still have the info on my Office calendar but it's no longer on ical.  It's also been removed from my phone.  How can I get outlook to sync with ical

When I installed the recent updates for Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac, my iCal calendar was wiped out, as was the calendar on my iPhone.  I'd rather use iCal than Office and was attempting to phase Office out altogether.  Now, all of my information is on the Office calendar but not iCal.  The iCloud version of my iCal calendar is not up to date.  In any event, I couldn't figure out how to send that info to the iCal on my mac or my phone.  How can I sync my Office calendar info to iCal?  If that's not possible, how can I get my Office calendar to sync with my iPhone?  All of my sync services are set up in iTunes and on my phone.  This happened to me once before and I spent hours on the phone with Apple and on the web trying to work it out.  I NEED MY CALENDAR!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!

As that's not an Apple product, you may get more help by using Microsoft's Office for Mac forums:

The other concern I have is that Office 2011 requires an Intel-based Mac and you posted in the older iMac (pre-Intel or "PPC") forums. If you have an Intel-based iMac (Apple menu > About this Mac..." will say "Intel" if you do) then I think you'll get faster and more accurate ansers to other questiosn in the Apple forums for newer iMacs here:

  • My new iMac 10.7.3 rejects the installation disc for Microsoft Office 2011. What shall I do?

My new iMac 10.7.3 rejects the installation disc for Microsoft Office 2011. What shall I do?

A little more description would help. What exactly do you mean by Rejects the disc? Does the DVD drive eject the disc shortly after inserting it?
Does the Office installer say something, like can't install on this Mac?
If the Office disc is ejected shortly after insertion try cleaning the disc. Try another DVD disc of any type to see if it is the Office DVD or if the drive ejects all discs.
If it ejects all DVD or CD discs then the drive is bad and you ned to Return your new Mac fro a Full Refund and then buy another NEW unit.

  • Symbols for Microsoft office 2011

I am trying to prepare documents in GUJARATI & DEVNAGRI languages.  I have office 2011.  How do I type compound words containing half alphabets?

As Office is not an Apple product, I strongly recommend asking in the Microsoft Office:Mac forums here:

  • Is Apple dropping iWork for Microsoft Office 2011?

I was implying that iWork was going to get shelved like Appleworks was so that Microsoft could further Office 2011 since its still mainstay but also I've not heard anything about a new iWork - hence the question.
When did Apple ever pre-announce anything?

  • Where can I find the product key for Microsoft Office 2011 that I purchased on line?

I upgraded my MacBook Pro to the Maverick operating system and now I have to enter the product key when I try to open MS Word, Excel or Powerpoint.  Where can I find the product key in my mac?

Yet another example as to why you should always purchase software on disk whenever possible.

  • Does Time Machine/Migration Assistant successfully transfer software licenses for Microsoft Office and Adobe?

I have a MacBook that I purchased in late 2007.  It's been very good to me over the years.  However, I'm been having various minor issues, and tonight I noticed that the screen goes to black at about 45° as I'm closing my laptop.  In other situations I'd try to fix this myself, but right now I'm a Peace Corps Volunteer in rural South America and have limited access to the right tools, much less replacement parts.  So instead I'm taking it as a sign that my trustworthy companion is about to give up the ghost and I should get a new computer now, instead of completely running this one into the ground and potentially losing important documents, photos, &c.
My question is simple:  Does Time Machine and/or Migration Assistant successfully transfer licenses for Microsoft Office 2011 and for Adobe software?
My software installation disks are in a box in a basement in the United States.  And since I'm not quite sure which box it is (last summer I did not see the need to label my own boxes), I'm not going to ask some unsuspecting friend or family member to dig through all my posessions to find an alphanumeric code or two, especially if I can just transfer/migrate the license without it.
    Many thanks.

Try the combo update on the old machine.

If the 2 computers have the correct cable connections, try the Target Disk Mode.

  • Unable to install MS-Office 2011 Update 14.1.4 on 10.6.8

    Hello,
I've got some trouble installing the actual available Update 14.1.4 for my Office 2011-Home and Student Editon.
When I try to install I receive the Error-Message "Office 2011 14.1.4 cannot be installed on this volume. For this Software, Mac-OS Version 10.5.8 or higher is required".
(Similar Problem during install the actual update for also installed Office 2008: "Cannot be installed, Mac OS 10.4.11 or higher...")
    I am confused.
In asked at Microsoft "Support" (ha, ha ha ..) and
1st) received a Email containing the Software AppleJack which fixed some minor  issues, Installing of the Update still does not work
2nd) received an Email from Microsoft "...cannot help you, there is an error in the Operating System, pls contact Apple."
    I am confused again...
The popup "About this Mac" shows the correct version 10.6.8, Update does not find anything to be installed.
This f*cking software from redmond is the only piece of software making some trouble, all other applications wors quite well.
    any hints?
My iMac (C2D 2.66, 4 GB RAM, Early 2008) is running under 10.6.8, all available Updates from Apple are installed, there are no hacks, no partitions, no Preview-Versions of Anything ... it is a plain vanilla iMac.
(Sorry 4 bad english, writing from germany...)
    Thanks!

  • My shortcut not working in Mac Office 2011

    Hi all,
As attched pic, I don't have the shortcut description on right in my mac office 2011. It makes me can't copy or paste at all, even can't do the "select all"...etc. It bothers me awhile, hop someone familiar the setting for Mac Office 2011 can help me out. thanks in advance for the help

Run the affected program and select Customize Keyboard from the Tools menu. In the dialog box that appears select the Edit menu in the left window pane and in the larger one to the right scroll down to EditCopy - you'll find EditPaste etc nearby. I expect you'll find that under the EditCopy shortcuts there on the Customize Keyboard dialog that you won't see Command C. You can add it by moving down to the Add Shortcut box and typing a Command C.

  • Mircosoft Office 2011 updated in french not english

I uploaded the newest update for microsoft office 2011 and in loaded my templates in french not english, how to change to english?  Selecting a template to use, it will type in english.
    Thank you,

Hi David & anyone else reading this,
I've discovered that the issue seems to now only relate to the grouping, not the date files itself. Screenshot below shows the dates and the incorrect grouping headers.
Date Last Opened is somehow fixed (before the 10.10.1 update, potentially with an Office update), however, the grouping still shows most files last opened in the "2001" category. Could it be that in the background in the file system multiple "Date last opened" are kept and used? Is there any way to rebuild this?

  • Office 2011 doesn't working properly on OS X Mavericks

Well, I have a MacBook Pro 15 inch retina display with 2.3 GHz quad core and 8GB of RAM + 256GB Flash memory. Since i am a school boy and need an office application, I bought a genuine Microsoft office 2011 for Mac version 14.0.0.0 software. After I upgraded my OS X from Mountain Lion to Mavericks, my powerpoint's slideshow feature always crashed whenever I started the slide show. I've already reinstall my office software and it still doesn't work out my problem. Could anyone of you help me?

The version of Office for Mac (Office 2011) is the same in O365 as what you have. You simply need to update.
    Install these updaters:
Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 Service Pack 1 (14.1.0)
Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 14.4.3 Update (requires 14.1.0 or newer)
(Restart after the 14.1.0 and again after running 14.4.3 updater.)
    Microsoft Autoupdater (MAU) 2.3.6 Download
Microsoft Error Reporting for Mac 2.2.9  Download
(Note for the MAU and MERP updaters you do NOT have to restart after updating_
    Install Basics
Not only should Safari be quit but all browsers and hidden Microsoft processes like the Microsoft Database daemon and SyncServicesAgent.
    Log Out/In
Log out under the Apple in the Menu bar
Log in and hold down the Shift key (this disables all startup items including the hidden ones)
    Why Restart?
The Restart after updater will force a file that stores the version info to update. This should happen automatically but sometimes it doesn't. The next updater will fail and you will have to re-install Office. The restart is a quick step that will save time in the long term.

  • Can I download office 2011 using Lion

I am unable to download office 2011 as the webpage will not open.
The box for the software says Safari 5 is required.
Can I download with safari 6?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

You can download the trial version here. Scratch that, wrong link. That one's for downloading Office 2011 if you don't have an optical drive, like the newest iMacs.
Edit: I can't locate the trial version on Microsoft's site. It can be download from other sites, such as SoftPedia. Depends on how much you trust the source.

  • Office 2011 email accounts.

Does anyone know how to migrate the information from Office 2007 to 2011? I used .rge but it did not transfer all the email accounts.
    Thanks,

Have any of you deleted your old Entourage data since using Outlook with Office 2011?
I've kept it around initially, just in case there was any problem in Outlook that would cause me to think I need to go back to Entourage. But otherwise, no, you don't need it anymore.
I'm happy to hear that Outlook for Mac:Office 2011 is a text file and not a database.
Sort of. The emails themselves are now broken into individual files. There still is a database, but it's used for less important information. A reviewer in Macworld magazine noted that his 4.5 GB Entourage database is now 500 MB, once all the emails were extracted to individual files for Outlook. Not sure what would still take up a half gig of "less important" info. My Outlook database is now 27 MB, down from Entourage's 37. Took a look at it with Text Wrangler and it's mostly unreadable binary data.
Does this mean that the emails will be more portable -- meaning more retrievable from other programs in the future, the way the emails in Mail are?
Supposedly. Time Machine, for example, should only have to back up new emails and not the entire database file every time. Can't verify that though since I don't use TM for my backups.

  • WGM Settings + Office 2011

    Hi Guys,
    Just a few issues working on Macbook/iMac 10.6 Clients with AD/OD on using 10.6 Server & Server 2008 R2.
So Far have 2 Groups called #osx_staff and #osx_students and #AllComputers
At first had custom PLIST and used the GUI for preferences for each Group and all was working fine.
Since Playing around with WGM Settings for #osx_staff all of a sudden now when logged in as a domain user associated to the osx_staff group no longer gets preferences. Dock settings are lost at first only had 2 dock items and sometimes just get system dock and no longer get the user dock.
Any ideas how to troubleshoot or fix? Or do i need to remove preferences for osx_staff and start again? how can i find out if its a conflict?
Now for the Office 2011 issues.
Have been testing Office 2011 using network home directories on the MacBooks and iMacs.
    First 3 issues had was
First Run Wizard and etc..Fixed this using Office PLIST configuration
Next 2 issues was unable to save .DOC files to user's homedirectory as well on exit it cannot save default global template.
To resolve these issues used Folder Re-direction and made sure ~/library/caches, ~/documents/microsoft user data and ~/library/application support/microsoft/office/templates where pointed to local harddrive and not using the network home directory.
Question I have is this the way to resolve these issues? as somehow cannot get them to work on network homedirectories. Always get freezing on first run and the above error messages using network homedirectories.
When using the Plist files as well noticed with WGM not just for Office 2011 and some other settings don't apply properly until the second login for that user? Any ideas what that happens?
    Thanks
    Hope someone can help
    Regards,
    Shane
