Is resurfacing or recoating the display possible?

I have a lot of streak marks on my 23" that seem to have come from wiping it. Is there any way to get an LCD monitor resurfaced or recoated?
Oddly enough I have always used the correct monitor cloths/solution for his monitor. The streaks are very appearant when when shoeing dark or black on the screen; especially when the monitor is off.

Hi Tangier,
These could either be streak marks (which can be caused by impurities in either the cloth or the solution) or fine scratch marks (which can be caused by an overly dirty cloth, or too much dust on the surface when cleaning commenced).
If they are streaks, they should be removeable using careful application of proper cloths and solutions. If they are scratches, then a polishing system may be more appropriate. Some users have even employed non-gel toothpaste for extra deep scratches.
There are no resurfacing or recoating technologies that I know of - some of the cleaning kits do leave a protective film, though.
Here's a good catalogue of screen cleaning/polishing products:

    Does anyone know if it is possible to change the display in week view to show all 24 hours per day for those of us that work irregular hours.
    Also is it possible to have all of the 'all day' entries showing, not just 3.5 of them.
    The app Week Cal HD was the perfect calendar until Apple removed it so could they please offer the same facilities that it offered.

  • It is possible to change the display from a macbook pro

    I have a late 2011 macbook pro 15", it is possible to do an update to the display? Like change it for one with more resolution.

    Yes, there is a company that switches apple computer displays.  The one I have heard a lot about removes your screen, and puts on a touch screen display.  It essentially turns it into a mac version of the windows computers that have a screen that flips around and lays flat for easy writing.  I cannot remember the name of the company but I will look around for it.  Just search around on google.  But to be honest it is probabaly cheaper to buy a new mac then to have the display swtiched.  If I remeber correctly its about $1000.  I will keep you updated!

    OK, well I would go with what Apple says in writing but if you want to take a trip to visit the Genius Bar that won't hurt.
    Good luck, I'm 99% certain  you will find I was correct but please let us know.

    Is it possible to change the display order of Apple TV applications on my home screen?  i.e. move Watch ESPN toward the top, move the WSJ to the bottom, etc.  That way you won't have to scroll all the way down to the bottom to access an applicaton you use most often.

    Yes. Just select and hold until the app starts to jiggle and then you can move it.

    Is it possible to use an iMac as the display for a Mac mini?

    iMacs late 2009 or newer can be used in Target display
    mode.  Any older, no can do.
    The only other way is via network Screen Sharing or
    some otherVPN network like solution.  The issue here
    though is that video performance will be pretty severely
    hampered.

  • DV7 - 1020us: Removal of the Front Plastic/Glass Cover of the display. Is it possible?

    Hi.I have a Pavilion DV7 - 1020US Somehow, and i don't know how, some particles of dust probably, are between the glass protection and the lcd.Before you say it's dead pixels... No, it's not dead pixels, it's really some kind of dust or anything like... anyway, regardless of the cause, i want to disassemble the display AND take off the LCD screen. I managed to remove most of the parts following this Maintance and service manual for the DV7 Series, found along some others at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3754328 But in this manual, starting at page 76 and following the steps from 1 to 24 (As the manual says, steps 25 and beyond refers to models equiped with brightview display, mine seems to be the AntiGlare thing), there's no explanation in how to remove the LCD Screen... The lcd Screen is protected in the front by some glass or plastic thing, and i found no way to remove it... I already searched the forum, and the solution posted here mentions a link that open just a HP's blank page... Anyway in the same thread, the user m5tech replies this: "The video did not show the removal of the LCD Screen. The LCD is glued to the edges of the LCD front cover.(...)"So It seems that the video solution in this thread shows the same procedures that's in the manual i mentioned. Searching over the net, i found nothing that explains how to completely disassemble the display...I only find things like this good tutorial, but as mentioned on the manual above, this is another display model for the same notebook model, mine disassembles from the back, and the bezel can not be removed that way... So let's forget what's the point of doing this, what's the cause of the problem...I just want to entirely remove the LCD screen and replace it, how do i do this?Is it possible for this model? if it helps or just for curiosity, here is some images of how is the Display disassembled at the most i could do... Front (it's possible to see the particles too)Back (All possible until now removed: Display enclosure or Back Cover, Webcam/Microphone Module, Downside Bezel, Display inverter and the Hinges.  I really hope that someone knows how to remove the lcd screen.Please help me, i will be very thankful!!!

    Hi,I'm having the same problem, 2 yrs later. I did get the back off.  In the HP Maintenance Manual, it appears they may have grouped the dis-assembly for both types: with bezel, without bezel (mine).   I took out the front bottom screws (behind the rubber plugs).  One screw was missing (found it inside).  After the 2 screws are out, it took some gentle prying of the back lid to release it.   I used the edge of a pocket knife just inside the plastic, rotated it to bite, using the side of the knife to nudge the back cover up.  I did this all along the bottom, being careful not to go to far in and cut something.  I also used a small flat tip screwdriver to keep the space open between the front & back panels.  It took a while but it did release. The entire back cover is lined with clips.  The bottom ones are different as they allow the back to slide up...about 3/16''.  Once you slide it up, it stops.  (*** Careful...the logo cable is attached) The back can then be pulled up to disconnect the cable. I found my model number on the back like some of the links showed.  I included the links I used to piece this together.  Thanks for the info and start point. I'm going to order the LCD and go from there. Kozzy7 http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3754328 http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?SearchText=FF214UA http://www.blisscomputers.net/hp-pavilion-dv7-1020us-laptop-lcd-screen-17-wxga.aspx http://www.smartmicrousa.com/HP_PAVILION_500841-001_LCD_SCREEN.aspx?gclid=CJyXueD98bsCFaxr7AodMH4Ajw

  • Possible to close the display without turning in to Safe Sleep???

    Does anyone know if its possible to close the display without turning into sasfe sleep???
    It would be useful while working with the a big externel dispay like the cinema display.
    thanks
    macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Actually, I don't think you need to have it plugged in.
    This: "You can use your MacBook in lid closed mode if the computer is connected to an external display, keyboard, and mouse."

  • Please help: I want to mirror my MacBook pro with my HDTV.  I realize I need to switch on my Mirroring Icon BUT I cannot find the icon on my menu bar or in the Display section of my System preferences.  Is it possible to get the Icon on my screen somehow?

    I want to mirror my MacBook Pro's screen to my HDTV.  I had it at one time by clicking the Mirror Icon on my upper menu bar but I do not have it any more?
    What am I missing?  In the System Perferences the display menu seems incomplete.  There is no where in there to set my MacBook Pro to mirroring.
    Can someone please help me?
    I would apprecate any help I get.
    Thanks

    The mirroring selection is in the "Arrangement" tab and only shows up on the MacBook Pro LCD, not the external display.

  • Is it possible to increase the size of everything on the display (All fonts, icons, menu bars, etc) at once without changing the screen resolution?

    I have a user with a new 27" Mac who is very.... specific... with how she wants things.  She says she needs the displayed size of everything on her computer increased as everything is too small.  I tried changing the resolution to 1920x1080, which she stated was around the size she wants, but this will not work for her since things aren't crystal clear and she says it hurts her eyes to view it like this.
    I come from a Windows background so I assumed there would be a way to simply increase the display size of everything in one shot.  If not, what hoops will I need to jump through to have this adjusted for every application on the machine?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    OS X doesn't have a UI size increase ability like what you expect on Windows, it's been a long complaint of Mac users for ages, but Apple simply refuses to listen.

    I have a web browser solution here, the other opiton is to use a scroll wheel/head mouse and a Universal Access "control" key to press while scolling with the mouse up and down to zoom in/out where the mouse is pointed or some other trackpad etc arrangement.

  • Is it possible to change the display value of a domain-based attribute?

    Hello,
    I've selected a domain-based attribute for one of the leaf member attributes in the same entity, aka parent id, since it's a self-referencing entity.  However, I cannot find a way to display anything but the code value in the drop-down (see below).
    Is there a way to change the display value so that I can choose the attribute from the entity from which I want the user to choose? In other words, I would like to display the hierarchy name instead of the code, which is really just the primary id.
    Thanks in advance!
    Ben Lezin

    1. In the explorer page, settings dialog, you can change the display format to show only name.
    2. We cannot use other freeform attribute as DisplayFormat, rather than Code Name. So there are 2 option here:
    a. Remove HierarchyName attribute and just use Name attribute. In the next release, we will allow give Name, Code attribute a displayname, so you can give Name display name as "HierarchyName" in the SQL Vnext release.
    b. Make a Business Rule to update Name when HierarchyName is changed.

  • Is it possible to use an iPad as the display for Mac Mini?

    Can an iPad 2 be used as the monitor on a Mac mini? Either by using Air Display or by cabling?

    Yes !
    You can use iPad as the display for your mac mini. but it will be your secondary display .. i.e. you need to have a primary display other that iPad.
    use teamviwer for that.

  • Re: [iPlanet-JATO] How to skip the display of a row in a TiledView ?

    Syam--
    I am having problems in skiping the display of a row in a Tiled
    view. I have a customer search results page. Each customer has an
    associated type.While displaying the search results, I should skip the
    customer record from display, if the associated type falls in certain
    categories.
    What I want to tell is, the comment(saying this is equivalent of
    repeated_onbeforerowdisplayevent) and placement of the
    onbeforerowdisplayevent handler(NetD) code in nextTile() method is
    confusing.Agreed. We used to have a seperate row display event, but removed it
    because it was extraneous.
    I did not find an equivalent way of doing this in JATO ? Can
    someone tell me how to do this?There are a couple of options. First, you could write a scriptlet in your
    JSP inside the tiled view tag that would check the status of the row and
    just skip the HTML output for that row if it matched your criterion. The
    other possibility is to override the nextTile() method to do an additional
    super.nextTile() call if the row isn't to be displayed. For example,
    something like this:
    public boolean nextTile()
    boolean result=super.nextTile();
    if (result && isHiddenRow())
    // Skip an extra row
    result=super.nextTile();
    return result;

    I have a PowerBook G4 with a non-functioning monitor.  It used to work with an external monitor, but I reinstalled the OS, which cleared the display preferences and now when I restart it won't detect the external monitor. This means I can't use the computer anymore. How do I fix? I tried using the Command+F2 keyboard shortcut, but it doesnt' work.  It's possible that since I reinstalled the OS, it still needs to be set up, so there's only a welcome screen (but since I can't see it I'm not sure).

    There is no limit to the number of times you can re-install Office on the same computer.
    You can activate by telephone:

  • Is there a way to view video via the display AND TV out at the same time?

    Is there a way to display the video output for supported apps on the display as well as through the TV out at the same time? To explain my setup briefly, I'd like to have the front seat passenger in my vehicle be able to hold the iPad and watch video while the A/V cable runs through the car system and displays on the ceiling mounted TV for the back passengers.
    As of right now, it seems as though it will only allow for one display at a time, and in this case, only showing video through the TV out. I don't know if the iPad has the processing power to mirror outputs to the display and the TV out at the same time, though I imagine that it should.
    So, does anyone have any ideas on how to make this possible, if it's possible at all?
    Thanks in advance.
