IS-Retail: Material description in MM41and MM42 transactions

Hi,
I'm not able to see the material description in the basic data view, in transaction MM41 and MM42.
I have already inserted the field MAKT-MAKTX as a mandatory field(OMSR & OMS9), but i still can't see him.
Somebody can help me?

Hi Pedro,
This field is mandatory by defaul for MM01 and MM02t. Therefore, you should't carry out any change in IMG settings.
In your IMG settings i.e. transaction code OMSR , please ensure that above settings once again.
Same data applicable for MM41 and MM42 transactions too.

Sitting here and reading your crisp question (after I've locked your even more crisper question), it's very difficult to suggest you to do anything.
Firstly, we need to know why you need to delete the Material Description from a standard transaction. If this is a Business requirement, only your Business know why this is needed - Im sure you have no clue about it either.
Secondly, we need to know if this is a requirement that has been handed down to you by your Functional Consultant, or if it's a figment of your own imagination.
Thirdly, we want to know why your Functional Consultant (if any) has not suggested you a suitable suggestion, especially when a "fresher" abap is behind the controls.
Fourthly, please tell us why you are not ready to contact SAP and seek their advice.

RF transaction material description display

Hi all i have troubles with RF transactions because all the materials are displaying only few characters not the full description-so if i have two very similar materials:
Matnr - Maktx
1110024 - barrel for water fuel large - blue
1110124 - barrel for water fuel large - white
on rf i see only the part "barrel for water fue" for example
and i cat even see if its large,not to mention color!
how can i solve this?

One thing is not clear from your thread that whether you are using the Custom RF transaction or Standard RF transaction
If you are using custom RF transaction then you need to ask you development team to activate the scrollable field in the screen so that you can scroll towards right to check the full description or
he can introduce another line to display the full Material description but this depend on your requirement and only your Technical team help on this.
As far as Standard RF transaction are concern it is not advisable to make change in the standard screen hence ask the developer to copy the screen and make the change (activate the scroll button or add a new field to display the full text),
TO check the list of RF transaction you can goto
SPRO ----LE------Mobile date entry----Define Menu management
you can find a list of RF transaction which are assigned against your warehouse

Display mode for Material Description in MM02 for Partucular User/UsrGroup

Dear friends,
I required to set: Display mode for Material Description in MM02. (Configured thruu2019 Maintain field selection to data screen)
For Particular User / User group, it should be Change mode. How to achive this. Please advice.

I don't think you can realize it, because in SAP system there are 6 influncing factors:
Material Type
Plant
Industry sector
Transaction
Procurement indicator
SAP Delivery
Field selection is controlled by field references. You can assign field references to the influencing factors material type, plant, and industry sector in Customizing. SAP maintains the assignment of the field reference to the transaction codes, to the procurement types, and for the SAP delivery. You cannot change this assignment of these field references in Customizing.
So from my point of view, you can't use the factors of material type, plant and industry sector to distinguish different users' authorization.

Routine for Material Description in language DE instead of EN in report o/p

Hi all,
We need to display material description/text in terms of DE language insted of EN at o/p the report.
It's a masterdata(0material) info object.There are many fields at report level,Only for this perticular field text only they want in DE language,remaining all in EN only.
How can we do langualge translations in BI.How can we achive this?
If any body implimented with routines plz share the information.

Please follow these steps :
go to RSA1-> Translation ->infoobject ->select object ->Create a piece list for Translation ->Create a Object List Go to transaction LXE_MASTER. In the evaluations tab, choose Object List->in the object List dialog box, choose create option ->Assign the Piece List->Generate the Object List.->
Schedule the background job which will generate the object list
Once the job for generating the object list is finished, please go to se63 ->Check your Default settings ->select Source Language and Target Language ->
Access your personal work list ->Enter target Language texts for BI objects in the Worklist ->Run the program RSO_AFTER_TRANSLATION ->Verify the translation in the respective object maintenance screen.

Hi,
   Transaction variant will be a good option for you. Go to SHD0 transaction and create a new transaction variant for MM02. Maintain the material description field as "output only" and save the variant.
    Please note that you have to maintain the variant with material description as output only for all the material master views.
   You can assign the variant to all required users, who doesnt want to change the material description, then create a variant group and assign accordingly.

ps: i tried with batch input recording method too. but there ,after execution all the rows are filled with the first line of data from the source file. so a failure again.

Material Description not showing in the internal goods and services catalog

Hello All,
I have replicated materials from backend. They have all been successfully replicated and I can see everything in COMMPR01. But when we create a shopping cart using the internal catalog only the material number and system show up. We are on SRN server 5.5 support pack 15. Any help will be really appreciated.

Hi Donna,
Check, if you have description in correct language.
For example:
If you replicate materials with English names (description only in english) and you login to the SRM using for example Italian, the description of the material will be empty.
There is a Description table in COMMPR01 transaction on the General tab (bottom of the screen).

Screen Display Language of Material Descriptions in PO vs Output Documents

Greetings Experts,
We have the requirement to display material descriptions in purchase order screens as well as other screens in language dictated by user setting and not the business partner preference. Currently, when we log on as user with English language setting and create purchase order for vendor with a Korean language setting, the material description in the screen is displayed in Korean. So it appears that system ignores the UI preference and displays the material description in the vendor's language/comunication preference. We see this same behavior in other SAP transactions as well. Is there a way for display language for material description to be dictated by user logon preference while retaining ability to output documents that are required in vendor's preferred language?

The material description will come from the material master record, so whic language you are entering in the material master it automatically pick to the purchasing documents.
If you need material description in different language you can do this in material master itself goto additional data and maintain there.

Material Description getting truncated in LI04 print

Hi All,
When we print Physical Inventory document in LI04 and using standard report RLLI0400 the system takes on 20 char in material description and truncates rest of the description.
However SAP given Note 538759 - Modif.note to extend material Desc. in report RLLI0400, which is a modification note to allow a 40 char description to be displayed.
We have carried out the correction as per this note still system is printing only 20 chars, did any one used this note, or any subsequent notes are required. Pl let me know.
We are using ECC - 6.0.

R/3 Material description not replicating in SRM CC-Hubwoo

In SRM, use Transaction SM30
Go to Table - COMCHIERARCHY_
Amend the setting so that the following is checked:
Transfer 60 Character Description
This will now ensure that the 60 character material group description is replicated to SRM.
The OSS note (455949) SAP has given us long back works around CRM customizing path.
*To access it in SRM use SM30 on COMCHIERARCHY to use long description instead of short one.*_
Use
In R/3 system - T023T has short description (20 char) and long description ( 60 char ).
The description in SRM COMM_CATEGORYT has 80 char length.
