  • If there ever was a NEW update for iMovie, will iMovie have the ability to burn projects onto a Blu-Ray disc so that customers don't have to pay for additional software like Final Cut Pro or Roxio Toast Titanium/Pro?

It would be helpful for those who are familier with iMovie to use Blu-Ray discs for burning and playing back their iMovie projects in HD. However, iMovie '11 doesn't have that special feature yet. I hear that 'Final Cut Pro X,' 'Roxio Toast 11 Titanium' and 'Roxio Toast 11 Pro' can copy projects like iMovie onto Blu-Ray, but it would take long periods of time to do that. Professional software, like FCP X and Toast, can be pricey.
I'm hoping that iMovie '11 will burn projects onto Blu-Ray, but will that ever come true?

Will iBlu-Ray be an upgrade? OR and update of iDVD?
If it's an upgrade, then that means you'd still pay for it from the Mac App Store. I wish it would only cost between $20-40.
If it's a free update of iDVD, but with the new name, that would be better than to go out and pay for things!!!
However, external Blu-ray recorders would still be required if you were going to burn an iMovie project onto a blu-ray disc.
Is there a way to put in a request for 'iBlu-Ray?'

  • Using Roxio Toast Titanium with 550 PowerBook

    Hello eveyone.
I recently installed Tiger and am now on V. 10.4.7
My PB has no cd or dvd burner so about 3 years ago, I bought a burner and installed Roxio Toast Titanium 5.1.2. All went OK - until Tiger.
After the Tiger install, I can't get my Toast to open. This means I can use my burner - an ez quest connected with firewire - to burn a cd from iTunes but I cannot burn any of my iPhoto pics.
Anyone had a similar problem? How do I fix it?? Should I just buy and install the latest from Roxio - their Media 8 I think?
    Any help would be great!

Ouch! Well, at least you know you should have.
Is reparing perms a big thing?
It's a big thing in that it needs to get done, say like changing your oil. But like the oil, it's not a big thing to do.
Can I go wrong and make things worse?
    I can't even imagine how. It's a normal, supposed-to-be performed thing.
Open Applications:Utilities:Disk Utility, select your HD on the left side, click on Repair Permissions at the bottom, wait a few minutes until it's finished, quit DU, and you're all set.
Also, I'd guess that you don't run Background Maintenance; I'd strongly recommend it (I like MacJanitor because it's so easy and it's freeware).
Not to worry, this all normal/routine stuff.

  • TS4498 Is music created in logic pro compatible with the logic pro x ? for instance if you have created something in logic pro and wont to add or tweak it a bit is that possible?

Is music created in logic pro compatible with the logic pro x ? for instance if you have created something in logic pro and want to add or tweak it, is that possible? I suppose you would need the original logic folder?

Yes it is more or less compatible, except the use of 32 bit plugins, which is prohibited from now on. So although you're able to open Logic projects as far as down to v5 I believe, it is advisable to remain for 'adding and tweaking' in your pre LPX environment.
    Have a nice day!

  • Is my mac pro compatible with mountain lion?

Is my mac pro compatible with mountain lion/ 2 x 2.66 Ghz Dual core processors?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
    William

And FBDIMMs which use to cost $300+ for 8GB can now be had for... 2 x $34.
    I paid $300 2 x 512MB August 2006,, then 2 x 1GB $400 March '07
So as long as you only need 16GB you are safe, it is when you need 4GB, or the rare 8GB FBDIMM and 32GB or more, that yes, time to part ways and get a system that supports cheaper DDR3.
Except, right now, 10.8.2 'broke' support for more than 64GB and there were people depending on and using 96GB.  Or that more than 48GB also 'broke' the Apple Pro RAID card; a card that still does not support 3TB drives. 10.8.2 does though provide support for more current Nvidia cards (10.7.4 also showed support just not for GTX 6xx series). 3rd party graphic support has always been a weakness, until now.
Apple Mac Pro is a workstation. Except when it is not. It is still not clear how they missed these things.
What 32-bit EFI won't get you is 64-bit kernel mode and abilty to fully use more powerful graphic cards or memory addresses for a single process beyond 4GB or graphic card support with more than 2GB (and 2GB use to always fail in OS X in the past).

  • Video recorded in QT Pro-compatible with FCP?

Is a video recorded in QT Pro compatible with FCP?
I was getting errors earlier today importing QT video clips recorded in QT Pro.
FCP said "unknown file type" and wouldn't import it.
I tried different decks, different footage, all to no avail.
Drag and drop, file>Import, neither worked.
I never tried this before and was surprised.
It's not that it needed rendering, it just wouldn't import.
QT was set to use the native format of the recording device.
FCP was set to DV NTSC easy set up.
    OS 10.4.7, QT 7.1.2, FCP 5.0.4.
    Thanks,
    Richard

    Now this is strange.
I just downloaded Live Capture Plus to try it out.
It captures the same tape from the same deck with the same settings as I tried in QT.
Imports perfectly into FCP 5.1.1 No problems whatsoever.
Both clips have identical settings in the info pane of QT Pro:
    DV/DVCPRO - NTSC, 720 x 480 (640 x 480), Millions
    16-bit Integer (Big Endian), Stereo (L R), 48.000 kHz
    29.97
    640 x 480 pixels
Yet the QT clip will not import into FCP with an "unknown file" error.
    Why?
    Thanks
    Richard

  • Roxio Toast Titanium 6.1 cannot see superdrive in MacBook Pro 17"

    Hi Folks,
My superdrive worked perfectly fine with Toast Titanium 6.1, burning Cd's,Dvd's,dual layer Dvd's without any issues.
But just recently Toast has informed me that it cannot find a recorder.
here is the details of my superdrive as listed by System Profiler:
    MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-85J:
    Firmware Revision: FAV1
    Interconnect: ATAPI
    Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipped/Supported)
    Cache: 2048 KB
    Reads DVD: Yes
    CD-Write: -R, -RW
    DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +RW, +R DL
    Burn Underrun Protection CD: Yes
    Burn Underrun Protection DVD: Yes
    Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, DVD-DAO
    Media:
    Media Type: CD-ROM
    Blank: No
    Erasable: No
    Overwritable: No
    Appendable: No
I am currently trying to get Roxio suipport to resolve the issue but no luck so far.
I have uninstalled & re-installed the Toast software, repaired permissions, the works but stiil Toast cannot see the Superdrive.
The only thing I can think of is I installed a recent firmware update for the MacBook Pro & maybe that had something to do with it.
I also don't think that updating to the latest version of Toast 8 will resolve the issue either.
Remember that the Superdrive was working just fine with Toast.
I have searced the froums & apple support documents to no avail.
The Toast site is not much help either.
Anybody have any ideas or a similar problem.
    Thanks
    fargione

    My problem has been solved!
I have carried out a complete re-install of the Os & I am right back up to OS 10.4.10.
Al the available updates have been installed & Toast 6.1.1 works just fine & sees the superdrive without any problems.
I think I have worked out what caused Toast to break.
Sometime back I was advised to run an app called Monolingual.
It is a utility that removes unecessary language resources from the os & reclaims disk space.
My advice is to live with the extra language's & avoid Monolingual.
Once again thank you all for your help.

  • Toast Titanium Pro 10 and Snow Leopard

  • MacBook Pro compatible with 3G iPod (five-button)????

Any chance that my 3G iPod (the one with four buttons and the wheel) will be compatible with my new MacBook Pro? I'd have to at least buy a Firewire 400 to Firewire 800 converter. But there's no point in buying one if the iPod won't otherwise be compatible.
    Your thoughts??

I can't see why it wouldn't be compatible, yes all new iPods and the like are now USB. But that was a move to encompass the world of Windows computers which tend not to have FW ports.
The main problem I see is the iPod cable has a FW400 plug on it so you need a FW400 socket to plug it into. A FW800 to FW400 cable won't be much use as that is just plug to plug. You would then need a FW Hub to plug into so that you can then plug the iPod cable into that. Or if you have something like a like an external FW drive they usually have a couple of sockets on them. So you could use a FW800 to FW400 to connect the drive and then plug the iPod into the drives other FW400 socket.
I did a very quick search but did not come up with a FW800 plug to FW400 socket, they may exist somewhere?
    Sorry I can't help further.

  • 694D Pro compatible with PIII 1GHz ???

    have a 694D Pro Ver 1.0  (MS6321) Board.
CPU Support page on the Website says  PIII 1GHz is OK.
BUT the table shows it has a 100 MHz FSB which is WRONG!   The SLOT1  PIII 1G has a 100 MHZ FSB.  The Socket370  PIII 1G has a 133 FSB.
The manual indicates the board is compatible with 133 Mhz FSB processors.  The CPU Support page seems to indicate that all the Tualatin series processors are not compatible.  It appears that all processors with 133 FSB which have a speed > 1 Ghz are all Tualatins and are not compatible.  Is that because of the 133 FSB or something else about the Tualatin series?   Will the 1G Coppermine work because it is not Tualatin even though it has a 133 FSB?
My real concern is will the PIII 1GHz 133 MHz FSB work on this board?  Is this the fastest CPU that will run (reliably) on this board?
dazed and confused    (THANKS FOR YOUR HELP! ) )

Both Slot1 and FCPGA PIII's were available at both 1.0Ghz/133 and 1.0GHz/100. link
A Coppermine PIII 1.0GHz/133 (or two of them that are identical) will work on the 694D.
Tulatin's use 1.5V and have a different BUS specification and pin assignment than Coppermine so a Tulatin won't even post on the 694D.

  • Is New Mac Pro Compatible with Logic X

Im interested in getting the new mac pro. Is this compatible with Logic X plugins does anyone have it yet working with Logic pro. I have a Mac Pro 3.33ghz 6 core. Is this 10 times better or just a little. I already have good SSD drive so loading and streaming samples is lightning fast.
    thanks

hi i have another question i don't know if anyone knows. in Logic X when I pen the mixing board the scrolling lags for a second and stutters lags for a couple of movements then it scrolls back and forth normally. but when I shrink the arrange window with the mixer to a smaller size it gets faster as I shrink the screen.
I have a HP 30" monitor hooked up by dual DVI cable. 60hz refresh rate. A GTX-680 2g Video Card.
My friedn has a imac 27" i7. I have a mac pro 3.33ghz 6 core. His mixing board does not lag. also copiny plugins is slow on mine. his did not lag.
is this because my monitor is older and using dvi insted of hdmi or thinderbolt?

  • Soundtrack Pro compatible with Final Cut Express?

I have Final Cut Express 4 installed and installed Logic Studio. Soundtrack Pro and Compressor did not install. Are these programs not compatible with FC Express?

    From the Apogee website:
"Duet features two superb microphone inputs, each with phantom power and up to 75dB of gain. With Duet, you can record a pristine vocal track while playing your guitar or keyboard, stereo mic your acoustic or even capture a live concert."
    http://www.apogeedigital.com/products/duet.php
It's ideal target audience would be laptop users in need of a high-quality, but very portable audio interface for Logic.

  • Are Distributed Forms created in Acrobat XI Pro compatible with Response Forms in Acrobat X Pro?

I want to be able to use distributed forms (created in Acrobat XI Pro) that I have received back through email with Acrobat X Pro.  That is, I want to be able to import the form information that is being sent back to me into a response form in Acrobat X Pro. Is this kind of "forward-compatible" issue possible?
Or, since I created the distributed forms in Acrobat XI Pro, can I only import data from those forms in an appropriate response from in Acrobat XI Pro?
    Thanks!

The distribution technique for email, network folder, or internal server haven't changed between Acrobat X and XI so you should be able to do this; however, it won't be managed through Tracker because you're distributing the form through different programs.
