Is Safari the problem?  upload problems after Leopard install...

I installed maximum ram and leopard 10.5 on my old emac and it runs great. I had problems uploading photos to ebay, and attachments to emails, so I installed ilife hoping the upgrade would fix the problem. Nope, when I attempt to upload, the icon just spins and spins, on and on. Could this be a Safari problem? Very frustrated, totally stumped.

I'm not sure how to link to the iPhoto post thread that help me solve my upload problem. But it is solved. I had to resize the jpeg pic files to 640x320 because my files were way to big. Thanks Old Toad!

  • Fan  problem after Leopard install

PowerMac Dual G5 - after Leopard install, fan between hard drive and optical drive revved up like the computer was going to blast off, faster and faster until I powered down by holding down the power button. Leopard seems to be working fine, but with the fan continuing to go at high speed at all times. I've tried reboot, reinstall, pull plug for a few minutes, remove CMOS battery, and zap PRAM, all to no avail. I haven't put the panel cover back on yet, and that may work, but I won't have time to mess with it for a few days and hope for some insight before I try that.Ideas?

Problem went away. Must have been a ghost in the machine.

  • HP LaserJet 1000 problem after Leopard install

Anyone else have a problem printing after the Leopard install?
My printer and driver was recognized but I can't print. When I watch the print queue it say there are errors and fails.
Since HP never made a driver for this printer, I was using a Zenographics driver that worked great. That is, until I upgraded.
I unplugged the USB and power cords, and removed the printer from System Preferences. After plugging everything back in and adding the printer again, the printer seemed like it wanted to print, but still didn't work.
    Please help.

Thank you for your answers. I was hoping someone would reply.
HP LJ 1000 is a great printer and I figured a few people had to have one. It is unfortunate as this printer hardly ever needed the toner changed, and I used it as my main printer. I swear I only changed toner four times in the last five years!
I looked everywhere for a driver and found nothing. HP said they had no updated driver for the Mac (as they told me a year ago, too) and they were not going to create one.
My final solution was to give up my printer to a good neighbor for $50 for her pc.
I researched printers from the Apple store and decided to go with the very Mac friendly HP Laserjet 1022:
    http://store.apple.com/AppleStore/WebObjects/EducationIndividualCustom.woa/94340 03/wa/PSLID?mco=CC919B84&fnode=home/shopmac/macaccessories/printers&nplm=TC976LL/A&wosid=gG2dihO9R0Mg29v6f901bEeWNf2
Hopefully it will be a good printer. After returning the new toner I bought for the LJ1000, I thought Staples would have it in stock. However, after trying three different stores, it seems the best way to get a Mac-friendly printer is to go online.
I hope I helped you out as well.
    Again, thank you.

  • Safari no longer loads bookmarks after Leopard installed

I've recently upgraded to Leopard but since the upgrade I can no longer get to my bookmarks in Safari. I suspected that the file containing the bookmark info may have become corrupt, but after importing the file into Firefox, the bookmarks work fine. The problem seems definitely with Safari. Anybody experiencing the same problem? Any solutions?

Use Pacifist to re-install Safari part of Leopard.

  • IMac PPC script problems after Leopard install

    Help please:
Hardware - iMac PPC 1.25GB system memory 80GB hard disc
Was running Tiger (fully updated) OK with no problems except hard disc getting full.
Did two things - upgraded to Leopard then moved iTunes content (about 38GB) to external hard drive (with hindsight realise should have moved the music first and done a clean install). I've got the external drive partitioned with Time Machine backing up to one volume and iTunes on the other. All seems to be working OK.
PROBLEM - can't run lots of third party software which previously ran OK eg Open Office (even after reinstall), Onyx, Real Player. Getting messages such as:
    "<<script>> doesn't understand the <<event earsffdr>> message (-1708)"
A search suggests this may have happened cos the hard disc got too full at one point - or maybe it was the Leopard upgrade.
I've tried repairing permissions, PRAM zap, general clean-up etc. but no joy.
Should I reinstall Tiger as an "archive and install"? Or could I try doing that with Leopard so I can keep Time Machine? Or is this an excuse to buy a shiny new iMac?
    Thanks for helping a newb.

why ould you reinstall Tiger with archive and install?! that will not work well. if you try reinstalling anything it should be leopard. do an archive and install of leopard. you'll have to restart TM backups but that's the only downside.

  • Screen Problems after Leopard install.

When I first installed Leopard, I got a black screen full scrolling white text after only 10min of use.
I did a clean install and that problem is gone, but I'm still getting very odd screen problems. The Apple logo and translucent part of the menu bar go away at times and it freezes some times too.
I was wondering if any other iMac G4 users have had these problems... ???

I believe the default settings for labels and text in Finder windows, if that's what you mean, is 12 point. You you can change font size through View Options. Text sizes for menus, etc. is fixed; I don't know what the size is specifically. For Firefox, text size for web pages is specified by the web site generally, but you can change the size Firefox will default to in the Firefox Content preferences.
I hope I've answered the question you were asking. Regards.

  • Imac G5 Sound problems after Leopard install

Hi All, This is my first post and I hope someone can help. I have just installed Leopard and on restart I now have no sound on any applications. I am also having some problems with my Netgear wireless router as the wireless card drops the connection on ocassions.

I am having the same problem but it's periodic. One day I went to work with some video and there was no sound so I hit the sound button on my powerbook, assuming I just had the sound turned off and the icon came up on my screen with the universal cicle with a slash through it indicating no sound. It was like this for a couple fo days and then all the sudden one morning my laptop "spoke up" by telling me the time. It has done that 2 additional times since there.
Any ideas why? It never did this prior to Leopard.

  • Resolution Problems after Leopard Install....MacBook screen too small?!

Everything from Safari, Firefox, iTunes, Pages have been affected. After installing Leopard it seems that my Macbook's 13 inch screen is too small instead of it automatically formatting the information. Even my Dashboard after installing Leopard had to be cleaned up because the previous Widgets were covering the entire screen. I'm including a link to a picture of "Creating a new Pages document from the Template chooser" to show you what I mean. Do I really have to reinstall Leopard to fix this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Terrible sleep problems after Leopard install

I just installed leopard on Thursday. Now, if I let my MBP go to sleep with the lid open (from the power setting), and I try to wake it by holding down the spacebar i get some serious issues. the screen comes on right away, but it is completely frozen. I have no cursor, no buttons work, the clock is stuck on the time the MBP went to sleep. If i close the lid, the screen just stays on. the thing is totally dead. i have to hold the power button to shut it down. it comes back up fine, everything smooth and no issues at all
then, I closed the lid so it could sleep overnight, and when i opened the screen in the morning, it took a long time to wake up. it just sat there with a black screen for a while and then finally woke. then everything was choppy. the mouse moved across the screen in 5-6 big "jumps" and the bouncing dock icons were not smooth. nothing was smooth. i was getting like, 1 FPS. programs opened slowly too. i restarted it and now it seems fine.
also, it is taking longer to restart than Tiger. mostly because it takes longer to shut down. tiger shut down almost instantly, but leopard is taking a few seconds.
I did a clean erase and install BTW.
has anyone else experienced this issue? what are some general things I can do to try to fix it? this is my first mac, and I've only had it for about a month, so I don't know many troubleshooting actions.
    thanks

I installed Leopard on Thursday as well. It worked fine yesterday and it was restarted a couple times since installation. I usually just close the computer's lid and put it away. I typically run on battery until I get the warning and then plug in (4.5 hours) I left it on charge last night and thought I'd put it into sleep by closing the lid. This morning when I went to use it, the battery was charged but it wasn't on. I had to press the power button and wait for it to boot. Once it booted, everything seemed to be fine. I did a shut down before taking it to work. When I went to use it at work, I booted it up on battery (which was at 99% after boot) and I used it for a while. I left the lid open idle for about half an hour and went back. Pressing the space bar brought the screen up but it was locked up. The clock was stuck at the wrong time, the cursor would move, but the keyboard did nothing and I couldn't click at all. I had to step away for about five minutes, came back, and dashboard was up. (I'd pressed F12) It wasn't scrolling smoothly in Finder (icon, list, column view) and Safari and Mail hung so I restarted. By this time, my battery was at 54% which seemed reasonable. Everything seemed fine and I closed the lid to standby. I went back to it three quarters of an hour later and it would not wake from standby. Pressing the power button did nothing. I plugged in and I started it up to discover it was a bit warm and my battery was at 0%. I worked on it for two hours or so and the battery was almost fully charged. I closed the lid to put it in sleep and put it in my bag. I took it home and went to use it an hour later and it was burning hot out of the bag. I've had it since March and it's never been that hot no matter what I've been doing. The battery was totally depleted and I turned it on and the fans ran at high speed for about twenty minutes. I could tell there was CPU throttling as scrolling was rather sluggish again. There was no abnormal CPU activity and it has cooled off to a reasonable level after about half an hour on. I didn't have any power/sleep issues in Tiger and everything was just fine before I did the upgrade.

  • New problem after Leopard  install

I used Boot Camp a while back (twice actually) when I had Tiger and it always worked fine. I upgraded to Leopard yesterday (I had to perform a clean install) and now Windows will no longer boot. When I click on the Windows partition in the Boot Camp menu it goes to the black screen like it normally would and instead of booting up it says "error loading operating system." Is there anyway to boot up Windows without having to completely reinstall it?

Anyone? Or will I have to reinstall Windows and all of my stuff?

  • The Whine Is back After Leopard Install

I cant believe what I am hearing ! The mosquito-like whine is back after installing Leopard on my MBP 17.
    Anyone else getting this ?

Yeah, i think some of you are right. Leopard does run cooler as compared to Tiger.
But i just can't imagine, why does Apple re-create a problem that they have already solved in Tiger!?
I'm getting tired of the tiny mosquito noise. Does anyone know whether can i bring my Macbook to Apple for a fix (or exchange..) ?

About 5 or 6X, My iMac has had wake up problems after I installed LION.  The screen wakes but the trackpad or mouse are frozen.  I have to do a hard shut down (pressing the power button) for system to work correctly.  When I power on the Mac, then everything functions.  NEVER had this issue with Safari!

  • Absolutely nothing will mount after leopard install

hey everyone. ive seen that this has been brought up a few times but i dont think ive read an answer to solve the problem.
when i installed leopard on dec.28 nothing since then will mount. no digital camera, no hard drive, no ipod, etc. nothing will mount. i have no idea what to do and would love some idea, so if anyone does have a solution, i would love it. thank you.

I've installed Leopard over 50 times on the same Mac Pro. Each install repeated the same way except one. Re-start got me to the purple screen and nothing would mount. I re-started after a while and everything was back to normal. I had to disconnect the firewire drive I used to make all my Leopard installs. It was a firewire drive which I had low confidence in and was testing it out to see if problems occurred which did.
Was your install similar. A device external attached?

  • Kodak 5500 - cannot print after Leopard install

Just want to throw this printer into the list of printers that do not work after Leopard install. I get a raster stream error. I have reinstalled Kodak software; deleted and readded printer, etc, etc,. Still now printing. Scanning works fine though!

Much to my surprise, I received a reply from Kodak a mere few hours after emailing them on Sunday morning. They advised me that a new version of their all-in-one printer software (1.2.0 Release 3) for Leopard will be available on the web on Monday, October 29th.
