Is Satellite 2430-101 compatible with 100GB HDD?

Dear fellows,
I've bought right now a Hitachi Travelstar 7K100, 100G HDD.
Can I use this HDD with my Toshiba 2430-101 notebook? Has anyone made experiences with this combination?
With best regards,
Jarek

Hi Jimi,
well, i speak polish, i was born in Poland, but I have been living in Germany since 1984. :)
I've ordered now HITACHI Travelstar E7K100 60GB HDD 7200rpm 8MB Cache 2,5Z". I hope, it will work. Additionally I spoke with the Toshiba Support. The call agent has said, I've got the possibility to buy an official hardware bundle from Toshiba. It could choose between a 100GB or 120GB HDD and I would get a BIOS Update to get the HDD started. And I can imagine it would be very expensive. The call agent will inform me later, how much it would cost. In my opinion, it's not obliging to get the BIOS update for bigger hard discs just in conjuction with an expensive harddisc bundle.
Furthermore I come to know that Toshiba supports officially 60GB HDD. So, I've ordered now my Hitachi and I'll see, if everything gonna be alright.
With best regards,
Jaroslaw Minorowicz

  • Satellite 2430-101: USB 2.0 External HDD problem

    Hallo Everybody,
I have Toshiba satellite 2430-101. I recently bought external 40GB hard disk. When I connected to my toshiba usb hub, it says it exceeds the limit of power suppy and I need to detach the external hard disc. When I read from recent questions, somebody suggested to uncheck the power options to the usb hub, but still it says the same. Are they anybody to help me.
    Regards
    Sri

    Hello Sri
Has the USB hub own power supply? If yes I hope that you have tested it with and without power supply.
Can you use HDD if you connect it directly to the Satellite notebook?

  • Is Satellite U400-10T compatible with Win XP

    Hello ,
i want to buy one Satellite U400-10T and I want to know it this model is compatible with Windows XP .
It' seems that on the Toshiba site, some drivers are present but it's all the drivers needed?
    A+
    Jean Marc

Of course its compatible why shouldnt it be???
The Satellite U400-10T seems to belong to the PSU40E series.
This series is listed on the Toshiba European driver page and ALL XP drivers are available
So you ask if all drivers are needed???
Well, of course you dont need to install everything from the page, but if you want to use all notebook features then all drivers and tools would be necessary!!!
Never fear ;) you will be able to install the XP on this notebook and it should run trouble free too ;)

  • Satellite M30: Replace DVD with additional HDD?

    Hello!
As my Satellite M30-642 doesn't offer a modular bay to switch drives and as I got an additional DVD writer for USB which I can use I am thinking of trying an experiment: removal of DVD drive and replacing it with an additional HDD/SSD.
As the SSDs are very light weight, have no moving parts and do not necessarily require screws to be installed and as the DVD slot delivers IDE and power connector this could work. The SSD needs to be placed inside an old and modified slimline cd-rom to ensure that the modification isn't visible and the notebook is safe from dust etc.
Has anyone tried something like that before? Are there any solutions to buy for Sat M30 (model year 2004)?
    Cheers, obreitfelder

    Hi
As far as I know the Sat M30 doesnt support the slim select bay and therefore you cannot use such adaptor instead of the CD/DVD drive.
    Sorry this is not possible

  • Is bluetooth headset BH-101 compatible with Nokia ...

I have a Nokia 6300 phone and a BH-101 bluetooth headset. The problem is that when i take a call through the bluetooth headset, the person at other end hears an echo of his own voice. I checked and didnt find the BH-101 headset under the compatible headsets for the Nokia 6300.Also, my phone has a old firmware (6.6), the latest one available being 7.21
So, is the echo problem due to the firmware or is it due to the compatibility issue???
Some one please tell me .....
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

No it is a common problem recently bought a BH-101 for my Nokia 6220 and everyone i spoke to on my phone complained of the echo. I took the BD-101 back and received a free replacement but it still echo'ed.
Yesterday i received a new Nokia N85. Still the same problem!
What is Nokia doing about this? Nothing!

    Hi
The wireless is optional in this unit. So you can upgrade this notebook with a mni PCI wireless LAN card 802.11.
Please consult your Toshiba service partner for installation of a wireless card. If you open the notebook by yourself so you loose the warranty.

  • Satellite 2430-101 Keyboad issue (Button "|")

    Hi
    the button which prints "<" , ">" and "|" doesn't work properly.
I use Winxp Pro and I installed all drivers provided on the Toshiba homepage which are related to the touchpad or the keyboard.
a friend of mine has the same problem, I think he has an A40-xxx, with the same case like my laptop.
can anyone tell me how to fix this button? I need it for programming ...

There was an issue with Toshiba models having this issue. It's only happens with a select few keys that stop working and do not function even if you replace the Motherboard or Keyboard. There is a file that has to be downloaded and installed. Basically a patch for the keyboard driver. ATM I do not have a clue even as to where to find it, but if you manage to find it and install it, the problem should go away.

  • 2430-101 stops at Toshiba-Logo (BIOS-Setup/Boot-Selection produce deadloop)

    Hello there.
I have a really serious problem with my Satellite 2430-101:
The system stops on boot after reaching the TOSHIBA-Logo. Pressing F2/F12-keys pops up the common waiting messages ("entering BIOS-Setup"/"entering Boot-Device-Selection-Menu ..."), but then the system hangs up in a deadloop (you can hear the fan rotating after some seconds). Rebooting the system with Ctrl+Alt+Del works perfectly but as soon as it reaches
This is what happened before the last shutdown:
I simply rebooted the system (OS: Novell/SUSE Linux 9.3, Kernel 2.4.xxx) and the usual shutdown messages appeared. Then there were some strange messages, looking like BIOS-outputs (I'm sure these were no Linux-messages) - I can only remember something about "PXE boot" and that it was an error message. After waiting a while (about 15 minutes) I rebooted manually by holding down the power-button.
I tried unplugging anything that was connected to the system (inlcuding ModularBay-devices) - with no results. I use the old BIOS 1.10 because there are no BIOS-updates for the 2430-101 available in the downlads (maybe this was the problem). I also tried to take out the hdd - even without harddisk the system shows the same behaviour (so the hdd isn't the problem)...
I hope anyone can help me with this, because I need my laptop for my work...
    thank you

    Hi Rico,
It is highly unlikely that your CPU has been damaged by just shutting down the system. However, it does seem likely that you have some problem with your motherboard which is preventing the system from completing the boot process.
You could isolate individual components to confirm that they are not implicated in the problem, e.g. remove the CD-ROM, Hdd etc. The system should still boot to the point where the removed device is needed. You could also try re-seating you RAM to make sure that there is no problem there. If you have 2 ram cards try removing each in turn to isolate them as a possible cause.
Failing all of the above, I suspect a trip to you nearest Service Partner is called for.
    best of luck

  • Satellite A300-1G5 - Can I change HDD place?

    Hi everyone;
I have this laptop : [Toshiba Satallite A300 - 1G5|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=EU&com.broadvis ion.session.new=Yes&PRODUCT_ID=1055589] . it has the standard specification no upgrades.
I was thinking if it possible to move the HDD from its place (which on the left side of the laptop) to the right side of the laptop, since my model can have 2 separate HDD. This idea came to my mind because of the fact that the CPU ( cooling module ) is actually is on the left side as well as HDD. As everybody knows , CPU generate the most heat of the laptop, so I was thinking I can reduce heat by moving the HDD to right side (where its only contain the DVD drive). A matter of fact, the left side of the laptop is always hotter than the right side.
So, is there any body agree on that? Will the HDD fit on the right side ? If so, can u people help me on how I can move the HDD to the right side?
    thanks in advance ..

    Hi
Theoretically you can exchange the HDD and you can put in into the second HDD slot. It makes no difference if the computer boots from SATA1 port or SATA2 port.
But the interesting thing is that my girlfriend has Satellite A300 too but with 2 HDDs. Now I have looked into both HDD slots and the point is that the HDD chassis to fix it in the notebook (silver chassis) are different. That means you need the HDD chassis for the second slot.
You can get if from an authorized service provider.
Furthermore if your notebook is getting hot you should clean it. I do it every 3 months and always Im wondering how much dust come out.
I hope I could help you a little bit.

  • Satellite L20-101: I think 667Mhz module runs only with 266 Mhz

    Hello,
    I have purchased 2x 1024MB DDR2-RAM for my L20-101.
First I tried 533MHz but the notebook didn't work with them, so I bought the
    667 MHz version.
CPU-Z says that the FSB:DRAM-ratio is 1:2 so both are actually running with just 266 MHz.
I've updated the BIOS with the latest version from the Toshiba-homepage, but nothing changed.
    So finally my questions:
    1. Maybe CPU-Z is wrong (I don't think so...), are there any other good programms to check the memory parameters?
    2. If the values shown in the programm are correct: Where can I change the value for the ratio? Is there any possibility to see more than the few settings in BIOS or is it a jumper setting?
    Thanks for your help

    Hi
First of all its important to mention that the Satellite L20-101 supports an FSB of 533 MHz.
    So the DDR2-400/533 256MB (PA3389U-1M25) and DDR2-400/533 512MB (PA3412U-1M51) memory modules should work and are 100% compatible!
If you will use the 667Mhz module, it will run only at 533Mhz because of the limitation of front side bus.
Furthermore I think you have misunderstood something.
These are DD2 modules and therefore the CPU-Z recognizes the modules speed as 266 MHz (2x266 = 532Mhz)
So everything seems to be ok!
PS; You can also use the other tool called Everest home edition. Its a freeware and very useful to run a system and hardware diagnosis

  • Which hdds are compatible with hp pavilion dv6700t cto entertainment notebook pc (out of warranty)

I recently purchased a Seagate momentus as replacement http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148591 thinking it would be compatible but when i tried to replace
the connections(interface) was not compatible with the laptop. Is there an adapter to resolve this problem?
if not which hdds are compatible?

    Hi,
If you have the original HDD, check that there is not a black plastic adapter that you can pull off the old drive and fit to the new one.

  • I've got a late 2009 mac mini with a 320gb hard drive and I want to upgrade it to a 1tb drive or bigger. What HDDs are compatible with my mini?

I've got a late 2009 mac mini with a 320gb hard drive and I want to upgrade it to a 1tb drive or bigger. What HDDs are compatible with my mini?
Because of the price I'm not interested in solid state drives, unless of course you want to send me $1,000.
I've already got external drives but I take my mini back and forth to work and don't want to carry those drives with me.
I'm not interested in buying a laptop. My mini works great so why waste $1,000 or more when I can buy a 1 to 3 TB hdd for under $300 and have exactly what I want. My late 2009 Mac Mini with a large hdd.
I went to Crucial's website and they can't tell me what drives fit my Mac Mini. That's where I got my ram (8GB). I'm ONLY interested in name brand quality HDDs.

The limiting factor in your 2009 mini is the max 9.5mm drive thickness.
One of the largest capacity 2.5" drives that meets this criteria is the HGST (formerly Hitachi) at 1.5GB
Any reputable SATA HDD you can find that is not thicker then this 9.5mm will work.

  • Satellite M70-354 - Is the mainboard compatible with another one?

    Hello guys,
I have to replace the mainboard of a Toshiba Satellite M70-354 PSM70E.
The inbuild mainboard is a K000033860, so is it compatible with any PSM70E mainboard avayable (K000XXXXXX)?
    Thanks for any help
    5urprise

    Hi
I think you should ask this question an authorized service provider. I mean here its an user to user forum and nobody can check which mainboards fit in which notebooks.
The technicians can order all spare parts and so I think they should know if this mainboard also fit in Satellite M70.
By the way, here you can search for the nearest authorized service provider:

  • Is this HDD compatible with my T60 2623-A24?

    Hi everyone!
I'm wondering if this ThinkPad 250GB 7200 rpm FDE Serial ATA Hard Drive
(http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:item.detail?...) offered at the Lenovo website is compatible with my Lenovo T60 Model 2623-A24?

    Please advise me accordingly.
    Thanks!

Maximum warranty that any HD manufacturer was offering was 5 years by Seagate, however even that has stopped as of this year. Now it's 3 years, as is with the majority of other HD manufacturers.
I have a Seagate 320GB/7200rpm in my T60p and love it.
