Is "Scalable WordPress" broken?

Hello,
We are evaluating Azure for WordPress hosting for a prospective client. They run a very large WordPress sites and we think Scalable WordPress will be right fit for them - http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/partners/wordpress/scalablewordpress/
However, from last 3 days, I am not able to create a web app based on it. Every attempt gets killed in the middle.
I tried to follow every step mentioned here - http://azure.microsoft.com/blog/2014/09/15/how-to-host-a-scalable-and-optimized-wordpress-for-azure-in-minutes/ but the web app just fails to create without any error or warning.
I tried Azure VM as well as standard WordPress http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/partners/wordpress/wordpress/ and they all worked nicely.
But I think real value of Azure as PaaS is in using something like - http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/partners/wordpress/scalablewordpress/
If for some reason Scalable WordPress is broken or deprecated, please let us know so we can direct our efforts towards manual-scaling setup.
Any inputs about on this issue will be helpful as we are trying Azure for the first time.

For scalable wordpress, MySQL Database requires a credit card to be associated with the subscription.
Additionally, MySQL Database is not available in certain regions and cannot be created by users who have an Enterprise Agreement or by co-admins.
This application supports only the STANDARD tier of Websites and the other pricing tiers including SHARED , BASIC and FREE are not available for this application.
You can only choose storage account that use the same subscription as the other resources (Website, Database). Storage accounts from different subscription will be disabled.

I've been having Constant failures in setting up scalable wordpress with no luck on finding a fix.
Update ClearDB database failed is the most common issue, with Update deployment being the second issue. I though maybe it had to do with Azure changes over the last few months (beta portal), but have yet to successfully deploy a site.

Cannot create scalable WordPress site in new portal

i am able to step through the wizard successfully but when i get to the end the "create" button is grayed out. Also the Subscription label is showing "loading".

WordPress on Azure slow

I set up scalable WordPress and I followed these steps:

As far as I know, the initial response time is very slow, please try to enable Always On in azure portal, As soon as your Azure Website is marked as Always On, the site will remains in a running states. There are some common performance factors we need

Dreamweaver invisible code in CSS cause broken themes in Wordpress?

I would appreciate if someone could comment or test this as it's driving me nuts. Apparently Dreamweaver inserts some invisible code or is using some other non-standard way how it saves the CSS file that cause raw text from CSS file to be displayed under available themes in Wordpress 2.7.1. Try to open any style.css from any Wordpress theme in Dreamweaver, add something to it and save it. Check that theme under Appearance, could you see raw text and broken CSS? To fix broken I've re saved the CSS using TexMate. I'm using Dreamweaver CS4, Build 4117 on Mac 10.5.6

Actually the problem is with wordpress and how it 'wraps' the css into the template (its none standard).

CS5.5 and WordPress Multisite

So, I upgraded from my CS4 to CS5.5 last week. I've extremely excited about the Live View / Inspector aspect of editing my php and WordPress projects. I'm running this on a suped up win 7 box. I deleted/uninstalled my old xampp setup and downloaded a new one. I'm going to have a Solr search engine for a WordPress Multisite blog/directory when I'm all done. So, I spent the time to also set up tomcat and get an instance of Solr running on my local machine. (not that this is important, but shows I'm not a complete beginner).
I've followed the tutorials on setting up WordPress to be able to do the testing server, live view and editing. Everything works fine on a new single blog install (I started a brand new one just to check and to do the Lynda.com tutorials, which are working just fine.) But, when I go to the Multisite Sub-Blog and set up the discovery of the related links DW gives me a whopping 4 files that are linked. I can follow the links on the live view pages, but the dynamic linking files are not showing up in the top toolbar? I can't jump over to the header.php file and then back to the index.php file, because they are not finding all of the linking php files.
As, I mentioned, it's a multisite only problem, becuase it's working on a single blog install just fine. I thought maybe it was because of the addressing, the testing folder was different from the root website. So, I edited the vhosts.conf file and hosts file to add a specific testing domain name and there was no change except that I don't get the error anymore when I set up the testing server that the site url of "/" doesn't match the one I had that was "/mydirectory/".
This was an older site that was set up in Dreamweaver that I just kept changing all of the local testing environment stuff, but the link to the remote server was still active. So, I thought that might be causing the trouble because it was going out to that server to try to follow some of the dynamically linked pages. So, I completely deleted everything and started over with a fresh Site with just the Testing server set up, fresh wordpress, fresh evreything. I am able to discover the related links in the file right up to when I turn on multisite in a sub-directory install and the whole discovery of related links wigs out.
If you look at the http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network I checked the dynamic links at each step. It worked turning on Multisite and going to network setup, but as soon as I entered the code in the wp-config.php file for defining a multisite and added the .htaccess file then the whole thing breaks.
I'm sure it has to do with how the path is loaded somehow dynamically, but as many people that there are running this combo, of Dreamweaver 5.5 and trying to work on Wordpress, and maybe a Multisite install since it's so much easier in 3.0+ I was surprised that there was nothing on the web about this issue.

The WordPress Multisite does use mod rewrite in .htaccess. The contents of that are found in the link I provided on setting up a WordPress Multisite install found at WordPress.org. As each of the sub-blogs require the use of elements and data from the main site and structure to draw the pages I do not think that setting up each sub-blog as it’s own site definition would work. It would still have issues finding the relating files. I guess, if someone figured out how to use Dreamweaver on a blog hosted at wordpress.com to edit themes and such that would probably flow to solving this issue as well.
Since this is on a Development XAMPP server on my own machine, if I put the .htaccess code in my httpd.conf file instead would that make a difference? Or is it the mod rewrite that is the issue no matter where it resides?
I basically decided to set up each sub-blog as a completely separate “site” for now since all I’m sync’ing is the theme folders anyways at that point and all I was truly after was the Live View / Inspector for making the layout changes. When I did that though and activated all the plugins that I’m using I noticed some issues with file discovery as well. I saw in one of the tutorials that there was a way to link a style.css file manually for “design” prior to uploading the site. Is there anything inside of Dreamweaver that would allow us to manually add the necessary php file for the finder. I’m pretty sure that it’s getting stuck at the line that is saying (dirname(__FILE__) . “wp-load.php” or something like that (off the top of my head). Once that relative file would be found my guess is that it would discover all the other ones? Or there is an issue with the ABSPATH variable being set early on in the WordPress installation.
At this point I’ve tried a dozen different ways to get this to work and it’s obviously broken. Since it’s so prevalent (I think a lot of the posts I read had this also as a multisite drupal/joomla issue as well) that it would be something worth figuring out how to provide a work around.

How do I edit a WordPress site in Dreamweaver?

I found a pretty good article on how to install WordPress to a localhost and run a site made locally on a test server through Dreamweaver (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/dw_wordpress_pt1.html), but it leaves a lot unanswered. Like...
1. Okay, now I've built a WordPress site locally, how do I upload it to my webserver?
(When I upload it to my ftp, it's broken. I suspect that this is because the scripting is set to work on my localhost MySQL & phpMyAdmin and not my webserver's)
2. If I already have a WordPress site up on my webserver, can I download it to my localhost server so I can edit in Dreamweaver and my local machine, and then upload it later to my webserver?

i am only new at dreamweaver...however, i have spent quite some time with Wordpress and Joomla website building.
Plese note... In an effort to explain my thoughts (which if left in their original state...only make sense to me really) i use the term "articles" below very loosely as Wordpress is not just a blogg platform anymore.
The two platforms serve different purposes. Wordpress is a publishing platform...Dreamweaver is a design program. Dreamweaver on its own, would be a very slow and cumbersome way of publishing articles on a Wordpress site. Dreamweaver on its own, is oriented towards creating the entire Wordpress CMS itself...not the "dynamic content" that goes on the Wordpress Site (dynamic meaning published information that is regularly being added/edited/deleted) .
What you really should be asking is, "how can i edit/develop Wordpress themes in Dreamweaver?" Now that, Dreamweaver can do.
Just slightly off topic, have you thought about building your websites using Adobe Muse instead. Its much faster and a lot simpler to use than dreamweaver and a great drag and drop design interface! Almost no coding required. You wold not be using Wordpress of course, and the content isnt dynamic, but Muse is soooo easy to build sites with!
Could i make a suggestion that i myself have undertaken...Purchase a monthly Adobe Creative Cloud plan(to get access to a heap of Adobe CC programs) + $39US/month Lynda.com tutorial package.
Even if you just use the lynda training for a single month only (you only pay by the month as you go)...you will learn an enormous amount about the Dreamweaver, Muse, Wordpress...and a huge number of other programs.

Switch from iWeb to WordPress?

          A week ago I asked about alternatives to iWeb for blogging on this forum.
One suggestion received from Roddy was to consider software created by
RageSW called iWeb to WordPress.
I did explore this and chose to try it.
Specifically, I paid $120 for one year's webhosting services.
This included provision of a domain and installation of WordPress
at my new website.
          My reaction so far is mixed for the following reasons:
1. My current weblog, a health-related blog, consists of a welcome page,
which is fixed, and four pages on which I place posts to diverse audiences
every few months as appropriate to the on-going health story.
2. In WordPress terms, these four pages are considered four separate blogs.
3. When iWebtoWrdPrs is used on the files published to a local folder, they
must be broken into four separate blogs. The result was that all 28 posts
from my four pages wound up in one WrdPrs blog.
4. To separate these back into "four groups", I chose the names of my iWeb
pages to create four WordPress "categories", which can be displayed in the
blog page sidebar. Then, I assigned each post to its related category.
I consider this marginally satisfactory and certainly neither elegant, nor
user-friendly.
5. The navigation menu at the top of the page looks like the one iWeb
produces, but it accommodates several fixed pages and one blog page
with all the posts. This seems to make sense for commercial entities;
for me it seems clumsy and rigid.
6. To use the software one must be using iWeb3.0.x.
7. On the plus side, the staff at RageSW have been very responsive and
helpful.
          In the short term I will continue using iWeb; my MobileMe subscription
runs thru next June. RageSW also offers hosting for iWeb publishing if you
want to experiment with your own domain. There are many tutorials on
WordPress available on-line and a good support community. Maybe I'll find

Yes, if you have purchased both a domain name and hosting, then it is your server - so I have a domain name registered with hosting space from HostExcellence and that is my server space.
WordPress.org can only be loaded onto a server/hosting space as it is seen as one of the Content Management Systems's similar to Joomla and Drupal. For this you need server space and a database and most hosting companies have automatic loading of something like WordPress.org onto the sever - you just click on install and it will all be loaded onto the server for you along with the database needed.
The difference between the WordPress.org is that as it is installed directly on your server, then it is linked directly to your own domain name so the url will be http://www.domain.com/Blog or http://www.domain.com/WordPress. The last name depends on how you choose to install it on your sever. I have 2 blogs using WordPress.org on my server and the domain names for both are http://www.domain.com/Blog.
With my other host, I wanted to create the whole website using WordPress, so I installed WordPress directly onto the server, so now, when you enter my domain name direclty the whole WordPress site comes up.
WordPress.org has more templates available for it and you can customise it a little more, but the great thing is that it is installed on your server directly, so no messing around with the url http://www.name.wordpress.com. It is on your own server rather than that of WordPress.

QuickTime X doesn't playback video properly in WordPress site

I have a WordPress site and I use QuickTime for the videos on the site. I use the MakeRefMovie application to direct people to one of two movies, one formatted for computers (H.264 .mov file), the second movie file for iPhone (.m4v file).
The problem is that when I hit the page with Snow Leopard and QuickTime X the video controls on screen don't work, I have to hit the spacebar to play the video.
The answer is NOT for me to install QuickTime 7 as I need to have a solution for others visiting my website. And if anybody has a new Mac or is running Snow Leopard and only QuickTime X then it appears to them that my videos are broken as they can't be played.
I could probably set the attribute to autoplay but then the user has no way to stop the video as the video controls onscreen are inoperable.

Yep. Just as you say when viewed using Safari and Snow Leopard. Controls don't work. Nor does clicking on the player window because of the "kioskmode" tag code.
I'm not an html expert and have never used WordPress but it appears that some object is "covering" the entire area of the video preventing any mouse click.
I turned on the "Develop" tools found in Safari (Advanced preferences) and took a deeper look at your page elements (right click on the page). It reports an improperly closed embed tag or a "non matching" tag error (I don't know which).
If you open your link using Safari and slowly double click right next (right side) to the video you'll see the phantom outline that is covering the video (and the controls).
If it were my page I'd use more "modern" html code (the embed tag is dead) and an "external" (another server) method of delivering the javascript code for QuickTime files:

I am the owner of this podcast & I have been experiencing issues with trying to get iTunes to show my new site image. Originaly the feed was using a generic Wordpress image for the podcast's page and for the podcast's image in the store. Ever since I have changed images by first changing the feed image, the generic Wordprss image still shows for the podcast's store image and the podcast's page image changed to a large white background with a chain having a broken link in the middle of it.
I assumed that this meant the url for the new image was corrupt or something was wrong w/ the XML code, so I imediately switched back to the previous Wordpress image & configuration. This did not fix the problem, so I went in and then changed it back to the new one and tested the url for the feed image tag and the itunes image tag. Both urls for both tags bring all browsers to the image at that location. I then went ahead & started checking the XML code against all the validators out there, and the feed's code was passing all of them with NO mention of any issues regarding the image tags (this includes validation tests against the original feed at Wordpress.com). I know the feed is still working in iTunes because iTunes shows changes to other components to the feed like episode descriptions, new episodes & etc..
I also know that the image is fine, because I attached it to the ID3 tag for the most recent episode, (19), and the coverflow, plus the podcast thumnail view both show the image perfectly.
I have also compared my tags w/ the tags of other podcasters I know whose images are working properly in iTunes.
I feel I have done everything in my power to verify that all of my settings are configured correctly at this point. Unless there is something I have missed that you can point me too, can you please take a look at your end to see if there is anything corrupted in iTunes regarding my podcast that is preventing image updates to occur according to specs?
Please help as soon as possible because this issue has been occuring for the past 4 days with no end in sight. As a result of this issue, people who are seeing my podcast's page are going to be under the impression that it is broken and no longer working for them to subscribe to.

Trancing the routes for DNS, the host and WebObjects server responds fine. But, the service package http://ax.phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStoreServices.woa/* is so much instable. Sometimes, this responds normally, but often it's not working well.
The problem was detected in Feb 4, but maybe its started in Feb 3.
Can anybody help me or can redirect me for the correct forum to discuss this issue?

Wordpress read-more-links out of order when hosting on Mini

I moved my Wordpress-based blog http://kennethlund.dk from a webhost to my Macmini to learn about hosting my own sites.
Everything seems fine at the first glance, except that alle links are broken :s
The linkstructure was working at my existing host and I haven't changed anything.
All links to backend works - it's "just" the blogposts themselves, that I cannot open.
I suppose this COULD be something about rewrite not working. Do I need to turn this on or is there any other advice for me?

PS CS2 Flash galleries now broken

I'm still using PS from CS2. After updating Flash plugins and probably javascipt for Mac, all my old Galleries created with PS CS2 are broken: they give a "need flash plugin" error. And I have the latest, or at least a very recent version, of the plugin. Both Safari and Firefox give the error. I'm not competent enough in javascript to puzzle out the routine for checking the flash version. According to the Adobe test page, I have flash version 10.0.something successfully installed.
Is there a way to update my galleries? Is there a wy to update the template my Photoshop is using to create galleries? Any advice would be appreciated.

OK, some googling did the trick. The old flashobject.js template's script doesn't parse version numbers comprising two digits. See http://thesaj.wordpress.com/2009/01/06/old-photoshop-galleries-breaking-with-flash-player- 10/ for a new flashobject.js template. Replace the old template in Adobe Photoshop CS2 > Presets > Web Photo Gallery > Flash - Gallery 1 and Flash - Gallery 2. also replace the flashobject.js in any web galleries online. Should then work as expected.

My wordpress site won't load anymore (safari 6 to blame?)

After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I just tried to do a post on my wordpress site last night. The post showed up on my computer, but didn't show up on anyone else's. Now today, I can't get my wordpress site to load at all on my computer - even with other browsers like firefox and chrome. The site still loads on other computer (without the new post though.)
Anyway, anyone else having wierd Wordpress problems after upgrading to Mountian Lion?
Any ideas how to get my site loading on my computer again? What could break it for all of my browsers? I'm pretty perplexed.

Getting iTunes to display old podcasts... WordPress/PodPress

I recently changed my iTunes feed when I switched to WordPress and PodPress 8.8. After some help from these boards I got it to work, but now it looks like it's broken again.

1. Anyone have any ideas why my iTunes isn't taking my feed?
2. How can I tell if iTunes is accepting/liking my feed?

1. I've tried to add additional (albeit older) podcasts to my feed, but

Obviously searching on the name of the Podcast takes you to a page including various items, including yours, from which you can reach the Store page: if you control-click on the podcast image you can copy the URL to the clipboard, and it's helpful to include this when posting here.
Subscribing to the podcast and then going to 'Podcasts' in the application shows the subscription: this is done directly from the feed, so if you have only just uploaded a new episode it will show in the subscription but not in the Store for a day or so. In the subscription, clicking on the 'i' at the right-hand end of the top line (the overall podcast, not the episodes) shows the feed URL (it's been known to be different from what people thought they were using, though apparently not in your case).
You can test a feed by going to the Advanced Menu and choosing 'Subscribe to Podcast'; again this does not involve the Store, but it's a useful first test of a feed before submitting it.
However, as we've seen, a feed which can be subscribed to doesn't always work on the Store page. I would certainly avoid php and redirects. I've seen a number of cases where they work OK when the URL is pasted into a browser, but the Store is unable to handle it. The golden rule is, use the actual URL for the feed (no Personal Domain or other redirects, and no php), and Summary and Description tags should be plain text - line returns are OK, but no HTML.
