The Mac uses Mac OS X and iDevices use iOS. These are two different operating systems and the apps must be written for each operating system specifically, even when the apps go by the same name, such as the iWork apps, they are two ifferent versions of the same app for the two different platforms.
So, as an example, Safari has been written for three different operating systems, Mac OS X, iOS and Windows. And the Safari apps, as similar as they are visually, are not interchangeable for the different platforms. -
I just bought a Mac Book Pro and the Appstore show one upgrade of iPhoto (9.2.1). I started a section with my Apple ID (the account that I have I use to iTunes) but when I try to update it says that there are upgrades available for other accounts and that I have to upgrade using the account that I used to buy iPhoto. What do I have to do to upgrade iPhoto?

Thank you very much for your answer! I have 2 Apple ID, and I have tried both of them and the problem continues. I founf several peolpe with the same problem in apple communities foruns and that really seems that there is some problem. I addded the links for 2 of those discussions.

As Terence said you're experiencing a kernel panic. Boot into your System install disk and launch Disk Utility from the Utilities menu in the first window after the language selection window. Repair the disk. If DU finds problems and runs repairs do it a second time and then reboot.

That is probably a lot of stuff you do not want on your iPhone. So this can be handled a few different was. For you current situation, you can delete the apps directly on your iPhone by holding on the app until it starts to jiggle and then tap on the X of all the apps that you do not want. The second thing you can do is before you sync with iTunes, look at the app section on your iPhone to know what gets transfer to it and you can deselect items that you do not want. Lastly, if you download content on your iPad and it is a universal app, you can actually download it directly to your iPhone by looking at your past purchases and download it directly from the App Store. There is nothing wrong with your Dell, it will work fine with any MacbookPro. I have been using Dell displays for over 12 years with many different Mac models. I have two 21" Ultra Sharp displays working side by side to design a Keynote presentation right now.
The issue your having is with the way Keynote takes control of the video output to both displays, it sends the presentation signal to one and the presenter display to the other, this is set up in;
Keynote preferences > Presenter display.
If you want to show a wesite or another app on either display, use application switcher:
press the the command key on the keyboard, then the tab key; a row of applications will show what applications are running, choose which one you want to show. Use command > tab to return to Keynote. -
Can't update Xcode – "You have updates available for other accounts" and other errors.
I have 2 Macs, a 2008 Mac Pro running 10.8.5 and a 2009 MacBook Pro running 10.9.0, soon to be downgraded to 10.8.5. I can't install the Xcode update on either Mac, and I can't update MacTracker on my Mac Pro, which suggests that no updates work at all.
When I try to update, it says "You have updates available for other accounts" and "Sign in to ________ to update applications for that account." I'm already signed into that account. I tried logging out, closing the App Store, and logging back in. Then I tried logging out of both the App Store and iTunes as per a fix I found online, and it gave me "Unknown error" once I tried to update.
Is there a fix for this or at least a regular .pkg I can just install? Honestly, it's easier to update stuff in Debian Linux than on OS X 10.8 and up now.Please try each of the following steps you haven't already taken, until the issue is resolved. After each step, relaunch the App Store and try again.
1. Follow the instructions in this Apple Support article.
2. If any App Store purchases were made under a different Apple ID, or if the bundled iLife applications were accepted under a different ID, sign in to the App Store with that ID to update.
3. Alternatively, delete the probem applications and re-download them with the ID you're using now. If you haven't already purchased them with that ID, you'll have to do that first, because purchases can't be transferred from one account to another.
4. Select the Purchased tab in the App Store window. If you see an item in the list marked "You have 3 apps to accept," click Accept.
5. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/adoption.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window may open with a file selected. If it does, delete the selected file. You may be prompted for your login password.
Then repeat step 4.
6. Select
Store ▹ View My Account
from the App Store menu bar, then select View hidden purchases. If you're trying to update any hidden purchases, unhide them.
7. Launch iTunes and select
Store ▹ Authorize This Computer
from the menu bar.
8. If you've moved any App Store apps out of the Applications folder, or into a subfolder, put them back. Never move or copy those applications. If you have backup copies of the apps on another volume, unmount it and try to update again.

It isn't the retail version, because that's 10.6.3.
Assuming it's the correct disc (i.e. the one that shipped with your Mac), you need to boot from it again.
OK the language page.
From the installer screen, ignore the continue button, go to the menu bar and choose Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
In DU, select your internal drive in the sidebar (the top item with the makers name and serial no.).
Run Repair Disk. If that comes up as disk OK, click the partition tab. Select the partiton from the drop-down above the graphic; 1 partiton is all you need.
Go to the options button and ensure that the partition scheme is GUID and the file system to Mac OS Extended (Journalled). Name the partiton (usually Macintosh HD), click Apply.
When the Macintosh HD volume appears below the drive name, quit DU and see if you can then install.
If the screen after the language screen doesn't show the menu bar, it may be necessary to use another Mac to do the job with the MB in Firewire Target Disc Mode. If it won't boot in TDM, or the MB doesn't have FireWire then it's getting very difficult. -
I have a mac book pro running Lion 10.7.4 and every time I use Google Earth The computer crashes by lowering a black curtain and then asking me to hold the power button down until it closes and press the power button again to restart it. Can I fix this? It bugs me when I'm looking at real estate.
I really don't have an answer for that one. I guess that while trying to get things working correctly, I would use the most basic monitor I had which in your case would be the Eizon using the Thunderbolt port and adaptor.
When you boot into Safe Mode the startup is quite slow, but you should get the Apple logo and then the spinning gear below it (release the SHIFT key when it appears.) Then after a little more time you should see a gray progress bar appear below the spinning gear. When that disappears the computer will startup to a login screen. -
Hi, I have a 3 year old Macbook Pro 13" and I accidentally cracked the outer screen of my mac book, however the LCD panel is fine and works well. Please advise what to do. I live in India and I have gone to authorised Apple technicians and they infomed me that I will have to replace the LCD panel as well even though it is not cracked, is this really true or can I just change the outer shell? Also they say that they cannot do it in India... can I do it myself at home?
Since it is 3 years old find a local repair shop that can replace the glass Only. you may have to send it out to a Non Local shop for that but there are some that specialize in doiing that on Mac notebooks.
Apple will ony replace the complete screen enclosure with all normal parts included, LCD, Camera, Aluminum housing and glass as one unit. Which is very expensive. Or you could just use it as a desktop system with external monitor and buy a new notebook. -
I have a Mac book pro on vesion 10.6.8 and want to access icloud as it works great on my iphone 4. Not sure best way to upgrade as some of the review of Lion on the appstore are awful. Any advice as I also have MIcrosoft word etc and don't want to have to purchase these again.

You can also do this:
Launch the programs you know and love on your Snow Leopard Mac.
Utilities --> Activity Monitor
Under the "Kind" tab it will identify the programs running PowerPC, Intel and Intel 64.
No PowerPC apps will run under Lion.
Don't worry about Apple's system stuff like Mail, iCal, Safari.
Don't worry about the system processes, like fontd and launchd, those will be replaced if you go to Lion.
Just look for the programs that you need. -

I am just like a beginner in both. I didnt have space in my storage device, so I just copied all my clips, thinking I can edit it latter, without recompressing or editing or whatever I should have done it at that point of time. Now I need to edit it and use it in my profession. I am very upset. Please help me in going step by step to get it in FCP X for editing. Also I would like to know, do I need to buy the Compressor 4 for any reason. I dont mind in buying, if you think it is going to be useful for some reason. Title basically explains everything. I contacted Bestbuy to see if they knew but all they said is they know they're going to offer their warranty which is almost $300 for 2 years. So, I was wondering if AppleCare+ was going to be available for the iPhone 5 at the price it was offered for the 4S? ($100 for lifetime) Or would it be more?
