Is shaking an iPad bad ?

Playing a game on my iPad and it tells me to shake the iPad, is this bad to do ?

As long as you don't shake it hard enough to dislodge all the electrons it'll be fine... Games, and some other apps, can make use of the inbuilt accelerometer to operate some functions in the app.

  • New ipad bad wifi connection?

Ive bought a new ipad today its gr8 apart from when i wish to connect to wifi
It shows that I have connected to my private network but then iam unable to access the internet is this something im doing wrong?

    Hi and welcome...
Not necessarily something you are doing wrong. Try restoring to default then restart your iPad.
Tap Settings / General / Reset / Reset Network Settings.
Now restart your iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.

  • IPad Laptop: Fine.  Laptop to iPad: Bad.  Why?

I have a question raised with Apple, but wondering if anyone else has this issue.
So, I'm on Windows 8.  If I delete a pic from my iPad Photo Stream, it disappears from the folder on Win 8.
If I delete a pic in the Photo Stream on Win 8, it remains on the iPad, and on Apple iCloud servers!
Has anyone come across this, and if so, did you resolve it?  And if so.... how?
    Thanks.

    Try the following:
    1. Turn router off for 30 seconds and on again
    2. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    3. Reset iPad; hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo

  • The icons on my iPad 2 keep shaking and then it reboots continuously - NOT CUSTOMISATION

This started on saturday night (it's now tuesday) and I don't know what to do!
I took it into the store and they said they couldn't help, but advised me to do a factory reset, so I did and if anything, it made it worse.
The icons on the home screen keep shaking and jerking around, and when they stop shaking, my ipad goes black, then the apple logo appears, then it goes black again, and this continues for hours. (It's been doing that since sunday night)
At the apple store, they said they could send it off to be repaired for £250! I might as well buy a new tablet! Besides all that, I've only had my iPad 2 for two years, and after spending £400 on a brand new one, I expected it to last longer.
    I'm really disappointed.
    Please help?

You will need to force the iPad into recover mode then restore as new. You may need to try this several times for it to "stick" so don't give up.
    Follw these instructions.

  • Can I use an iPad as a chartplotter?

Background - I'm in the backwaters of intercoastal waterways of British Columbia, Canada and there's no wifi or cell phone towers anywhere around.
The old fashion way before iPad was a usb gps connected to a pc laptop running a navigation program using charts stored on a cd.
Can I duplicate this with an iPad?

This is what I've found out. Please correct any errors.
To use the GPS function on the iPad, you will need an iPad 3G with Wi-Fi. This is the only model of iPad that uses an internal GPS receiver. This will allow you to determine your location without a cell or Wi-Fi signal.
If you do not have a 3G, then a 3rd party Made For iPad gps will work. I found 2 gps devices certified for the iPad:
    Bad-Elf gps accessory &
GNS 5870 MFI gps bluetooth receiver.
Not all apps work on either device.
Here is what Navionics (the leader in electronic charts) relied to my questions.

I'm having difficulty in finding out what ipad is required. (What I'm trying to say is that I'd like to use an ipad as a portable chartplotter.)
I'd like to use an ipad that is capable of capturing satellite signals while in remote locations without the use of wifi or cell phone.
Can you also tell me what 3rd party gps are compatible with your software & charts? How much memory for charts & application is required.

At this time there are no 3rd party GPS receivers that we have tested with our apps. This hardware may or may not be compatible with our app, but we cannot guarantee either way as they have not been tested by Navionics.
The Navionics Mobile app is generally around 100-200MBs, but can be as much as 525MB. Please make sure that you have enough space on your iPad before proceeding with the download.
Also, please be aware that the Navionics Mobile apps are created for recreational use only. For serious navigational purposes, we recommend using our Navionics Plug-And-Play cards for use on GPS chart plotters. This is because the internal GPS receivers on mobile devices are not as reliable as those found on a GPS chart plotter, as well as the fact that you will not be able to access all functions that are available on GPS units. (For instance, chart rotation or “course-up” is not available on the iPad app).
If you need any additional information, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Best regards,

  • When I accidentally delete something I'm writing (say, in an email), is there a way to recover it on the iPad one?

When I accidentally delete something I'm writing (say, in an email), is there a way to recover it on the iPad one?

If you catch it right away - and I mean right away - there is an Undo bottom on the keyboard. If you tap the ?123 button in the lower left corner, that will bring up the Undo button. Try that next time.
That has worked for me from time to time. And yes, shaking the iPad will bring up an Undo Typing box as well.

  • How To Play Music & Videos In Stereo?

I have a new iPad Retina 64GB and have loaded it with many apps and music. I'm using iTunes Match so all of my music is in iCloud and is recognized by all my devices just fine. The problem I have was discovered last night when I needed to listen to some music cuts with headphones (the first time using them with my iPad - the headphones work perfect with my older iPod Touch (1st Generation), as well as my Macbook Pro Retina). When I listened to a known STEREO song, there is no stereo -- only monophonic sound with this new iPad!!!
I used the same headphones plugged into my Macbook Pro and listened to the same song (via iCloud) and it is plays just fine -- IN FULL STEREO!
Any ideas on what is wrong - bad iPad, bad stereo plug on iPad, wrong setting in iPad, or whatever could solve this simple problem?
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
    Larry

I would suggest an experiment to eliminate one possible cause:
Like you, I use iTunes Match and appreciate its capabilities.  But I recommend turning iTunes Match off (only) on your iPad, and then doing a sync with iTunes on your computer that hopefully has all your music on it.  That would force the music to be explicitly loaded onto your iPad, and then see if the stereo appears.  I predict it will.
    Good luck.

  • ITunes 10.4.1 DOESN'T WORK!!

I had problems with 10.4.0.80 and had to revert back to 10.3.1 but I tried 10.4.1 anyway like an idiot.  Same problems as before - backup doesn't work, iTunes wouldn't recognize phone, blah blah blah.  Two more hours (so far) wasted on bad software.
I hope Tim Cook is watching!!  iPhone/iPad + bad iTunes = bad iPhone/iPad
In case anyone knows the voodoo needed to make this work, I'm running Vista 32 with iPhone 4 and iPad 2.

Maybe this discussion will help until Mr. Cook's team fixes ITunes 10.4.1

  • HT201263 How to access Recover Mode after selecting Update rather than Restore during reset?

Looked like I screwed things up on my iPad badly.  My iPad no longer recognized my passcode (I know it was right since I use my iPad many times daily) and became disabled.  I followed the instructions for the factory reset, however, I selected update rather than restore in hopes that it would purge the password and get me back in.  The result, my iPad is still disabled, holding the sleep/wake button no longer exposes the slide to power off the iPad, and holding down the home button does not get me back to recovery mode.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Hey eng513,
There is another method to getting your iPad back up from being disabled. If you have an iCloud account signed in, you can erase it from iCloud.com and then go through the setup steps to get you back up and running. Take a look at the article below to help you out.
Forgot passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled

  • Touchpad bug please help?

Okay so I'll be typing in an app.  Currently using Google voice, but also happens in notepad, safari.  Suddenly the app closes.  Or the paragraph I'm typing is deleted...or the app jumps to another app.
What is the magic swipe/key I'm touching that causes this?  I'm typing on the bottom of the screen and the back button is up top so no idea here.
    Undo/Redo doesn't do anything.
Shaking the ipad doesn't bring the text back either.
    Any help appreciated.
edit: I think I may have figured this out!

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • Folio Producer on web destroyed our folio

This is for me rather shocking experience. We needed to shuffle little bit with articles in one of our folio. So we tried to use webtools on digitalpublishing.acrobat.com, Folio Producer. We shuffled with articles and because we needed some placeholders for two future articles, i've just copied articles from some old folio on same account.
BTW, this is right moment to make a small note - after some half of hour of use it's PAIN to use it - with time it becomes EXTREMELY slow.
But... we can't download this folio anymore to our iPads. When we "Archived" existing folio on iPad, folio just disappeared, it's simply NOT VISIBLE on this account from any iPad. I can see it from web, i can see it from InDesign, but it's gone for iPad.
Sorry guys, but i expect such issues from beta software. Not from quite expensive solution which we need to use as a PRODUCTION TOOL!
I think that i can quote Steve Balmer here: "Developers, developers, developers!". That's what DPS needs.
    And QA of course.
Gosh, this makes me mad. Again.
    Martin

    I had a smimilar experience.
I don't know where it comes from, but suddenly after making some minor updates to "live" folios, they can't be downloaded anymore from the iPad.
bad thing is, that we were just in review (waiting an awful long week and another 48h staying in review state) and having been rejected for content that can't be downloaded anymore
I mean, come on guys. We need to get into newsstand. And please don't boast about newsstand support, if it is very limited and not even properly documented from Adobe.
Another sad day with Adobe Digital Publishing Suite. I remember the good days, during beta, when we had hope, that the service would improve. Since then it only went worse. Worst of all: It's too expensive right now, becaus eit worked in beta, when it was free. And it doesn't since we are paying for it :..(
