You can find contacts by searching by their name, Skype name, or e-mail address. Skype name or e-mail address would be the most simplest way to get the right account. So if you don't know that information you need to obtain that from your brother. You can also provide him with your information and he can send you a contact request instead. Skype to Skype audio/video calls are free.

I was trying to debug why one of the remote-services in our Flex application was failing randomly. What I found was interesting. Completely different AMF request packets were sent for same remote service call from Flex to PHP.

Also, following is the error message on Flex when the service fails:

We are using Swiz as the micro-architecture for Flex development and Zend AMF for remoting between Flex and PHP.
Any ideas what is wrong here, what is causing Flex to send different request packets for the same service & what I can do to fix it?

Skype Charges for Received Video Calls

Under Skype's current payment plan policy is there a charge to a Skype receiver of a video call?

Just wanted to post a more current reply. After spending some time today in online chat with VZ support, and having the rep tell me that incoming international calls ARE charged for roaming, and me persisting to get the correct answer ... she checked with global support and DID confirm Grothka's answer: that is, if the VZ customer is in the US and receives an international call, they are ONLY charged minutes; no additional fees.

Almost all S60 nokia's can make internet calls when using apps like fring or nimbuzz. It can be done over wi-fi or over 3G (if your network allows it).
The E series models, and most older FP1 models can directly connect to VoIP servers. Many newer FP2 and S60v5 models cannot (but can still use apps like fring).

Why does Skype charge for group video calls?

Yes, this is a rant.
Yes, I hold little hope of receiving a meaningful response.
These being said, I hope that if more people point out the absurdity of charging for a feature currently freely available from a major competitor (one would hope Goggle shows as such on Skype's radar?), who knows, Somebody at Microsoft/Skype will slap they forehead at the sudden realization that they are losing market share that will be very hard (if not impossible) to regain.
I can already hear the arguments against making this (and other features, such as US/Canada calls) free going on incessantly about lost revenue and the next quarter results - I've used to work for a behemoth and that's how they die: never considering loss of customer good will, bad reputation and the resulting inevitable mass migration to competitor's solution in response to the company's obvious ineptitude. It never seems to dawn on them that losing some revenue now means living to fight another day.
Oh well, the battle between the giants was interesting to watch - until I've realized that one of the giants is blind.
Oh, and BTW:
I had to write this message a second time - IE11 crashed when I tried to preview the first iteration. Microsoft FTW! (yes, that was sarcastic - I am now making a copy of the entire post before submitting, just in case)

Oh OK got it. You just have to open it with WinRar and extract all files. then you have to install iTunes. if it say this and this is not installed or you don't have it. You just have to find it and install it

How to know Skype number is it used to call from?

When someone calls my mobile phone from Skype, a random mobile phone appears as the caller ID. When he calls my house phone from a Skype, a random local phone number appears as the caller ID.
What is the logics of that? Is it possible to determine if some phone number belongs to Skype?

Good point! I just checked one of my contacts from whom I receive frequent calls, and who also has multiple numbers in their profile, and noted the same thing.
When someone calls your Skype Number, you would indeed not be able to determine if they are calling you via the Skype account, or via the Skype Number. This is by design and is normal, because the Skype Number simply provides a fixed (or, "land") line number for people to reach you, and you answer on Skype.
The only work-around would be to separate out all of the numbers.

Odd "private video message call" from a Bot

Sorry, reposting due to not knowing how to edit previous post. I got a "private video message" from what looks like this bot in the middle of the night. I did not answer, was scared. It should be on the bottom-right of the profile page of the user in question.
I hope this solves your issue of blocking a user who you have not added!

How can I make internet calls from OS X 10.5.8?

I want to make internet to landline calls with Mac OS X 10.5.8. Which applications will work with this operating system?
I was previously using Skype until their recent compulsory upgrade, which is not compatible with my computer . A friend suggested Viber, but that also seems to require a more advanced version of OS X than my MacBook will support.

How do I set a different caller ID for the iPhone Cellular Calls from my Mac?

This will get lengthy so bare with me. My wife and I both have an iPhone and we use the same iCloud account. I wanted to set up my Mac to handle my phone calls with the new feature on Yosemite so I went into Preferences on the FaceTime app on my Mac to turn on iPhone Cellular Calls. When I do so, it tells me that the calls will be made using my wifes caller ID and not mine. I know that I can click my phone number above that in the "You can be reached for FaceTime at:" section and it will give me the choice of using my phone number but I only want use my email for FaceTime on my Mac and when only my email is checked for where to be reached at, it doesn't give me an option of what phone number I want the Caller ID to be. If anyone understands that, please help me change the default Caller ID to my own and not my wife's!! Thanks!

Have you tried using the Ring/Silent switch on the upper left side? If it's set to 'orange', I think it only vibrates for almost everything, with a few exceptions.

SKYPE ABUSIVE CHARGES OF NON COMPLETED CALLS!

I like the idea of a class action against Skype for abusive charging of non completed calls.
I sometimes call the same number and it drops 2-3-4 times before it can connect and Sleaze Skype charges me CAD 0.096 for EVERY ONE of those dropped calls.
Can you imagine, if Skype has, as they claim millions of customers how many millions they collect on our back because their lousy system dropped the calls ??? Just think about it !!
Download and check your call summary and you wil be amazed to see how many "fixed charges" you paid while not connecting.
E-mail me if this has happened to you so we can build up a case.

I am glad to hear that U R an employee and not just "any moderator" but I still find it kind of invasive that "any skype employee" can look into my call log w/o my express request / permission...

Skype number not displaying correctly with Caller ID

Hello, I have had my Skype number for several years and it's been no problem for those with Caller ID to have my Skype number displayed when receiving a call from me. However, the past few months this has changed dramatically. Now, my Skype number is NEVER displayed when calling someone and in fact, most of the time it displays numbers or even names randomly which have zero relation to myself or my number. Other times, the users Caller ID will display "Skype User". Why has this suddenly happened and what can be done to ensure that it's corrected and working properly again?
My account is indeed configured to display my Skype number (as it has been for several years), but this has no longer has any bearing whatsoever on the number displayed when I call someone. I have found that some people are no longer accepting my calls since they have no idea that I am the one calling them.
This is happening when I call numbers in the U.S. and sometimes Canada and does not matter where my physical location is - if I am in the U.S., U.K., Hong Kong, Taiwan, etc, the result is always the same - my number is NOT displayed.
If anyone could offer some advice which would take care of this, I would be most appreciative. Thank you, Greg

But that same FAQ indicates that Caller ID is available for the U.S. And this is where I make the majority of my calls. However, as I mentioned in my original post, my Caller ID has NOT been displayed for several months. What is displayed are randomly changing phone numbers and names that have no bearing whatsoever with anything related to my actual Skype number or name. I've done my own testing when calling my home phone from Skype. I'll call multiple times in quick succession and I will get different results each and every time.
