I am able to Download the Solaris Cluster from the Oracle Site. But need to know whether we need any license to use it?

    I am trying to change the email address associated with my existing account to free up my university email address for use in obtaining Creative Cloud.  Every time I go to the account settings of my existing account (which currently uses my university email, as I set it up years ago and had no idea it'd eventually cause problems), I enter a different email to use for that account but I continuously receive an error message saying "account changes cannot be saved."  It makes me think that it's because the email isn't verified (funny, it actually is verified since it has been the alternate email on the old account for years), but when I click the "send verification email" nothing happens (that is, no email is sent to that other email address).
    Anyway, my university is now requiring that faculty create new accounts using our university email addresses in order to register/use Creative Cloud.  Am I able to delete my old account, or can anyone help me actually change the email address associated with my old account without getting a "changes can't be saved" error?

    It should be free under GPL (General Public license).Usually it will comes with your operating system distribution (eg:RHEL)
    If you download it from Oracle site, it should have the commercial license tied to it, and you need to pay for that if it is in use for production.

  • Any samples for using JMX for displaying cluster statistics 3.6 ?

    Hi,
    Our Coherence 3.6 cluster is configured in the WLS domain and controlled using WLS node manager. This is all working well. We have created a WLS console extension to show the actual live cluster topology (rather than the configured topology) so we can ensure all the domains are configured correctly and there are no nodes in the cluster that there should not be (we have many domains/environments).
    I can show basic cluster statistics and show the members etc using the CacheFactory. But for each cluster member I would like to show if it is storage enabled and free memory and other statistics. I was expecting to get that from the Member or Cluster objects returned from the CacheFactory methods but it seems not. It seems that JMX is the way to go. Does anyone have any sample JMX code they might share that would connect to the cluster and retrieve stats and info that is not available from the CacheFactory api ?.

    Hi Revanth,
    The issue seems to be with the JMX URL value defined in the 'server URL' property.
    Apparently I ran into the same issue as I was unable to access the Admin Server URL from the SMA.
    Changing the Host and Port value properly resolved the issue for me.

    I have been looking for guidance on the installation of SOA Suite 10.1.3.4.0 on a Solaris cluster, and have been unable to find any. Does anyone have any info on this task? Or as an alternate question, how different is the cluster setup on Solaris from Linux?

    There is no difference on installing a cluster on Solaris or Linux. The main difference are the required O/S packages. The you could follow my approach on installing a cluster:

    I am a complete dummie Solaris Cluster, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut... I need to create a cluster and install an application:
    I have two V440, with Solaris 10;
    I need to put the two machines in the cluster;
    I have CE0 of each of the machines plugged into the network;
    I have CE1 and CE2 of each machine connected together via a crossover cable;
    According to the documentation "Oracle Solaris Cluster HA for Alliance Access" there are prerequisites (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19680-01/html/821-1547/ciajejfa.html) as creating HAstoragePlus , and logical host resource group;
    Could anyone give me some tips on how to create this cluster and the prerequisites?

    To create a highly available logical IP address just do
    clrg create <name-for-resource-group>
    clrslh create -g <name-for-resource-group> <name-of-ip-address> # This IP address should be available in /etc/hosts on both cluster nodes.

    You need to use either Solaris Volume Manager, or Veritas Volume Manager. With clustering you need a disk manager that is cluster aware, iow, it needs to know that one disk can be accessed by more than one server at a time.
    Have a look at chapter 3 in the Cluster installation manual for the steps to use Solaris Volume Manager. It's iportant to use the /dev/did disk names

    There is one activity screen in the ic web(CRM 5.0). There is two button(Change, Save , Sendnotification) on that screen.
    Sendnotification: if i click this button then it will check whether there is any change done using  below logic and will send the noti..:
    DATA:lv_transaction   TYPE REF TO if_bol_transaction_context,
    lv_entity       TYPE REF TO cl_crm_bol_entity.
    lv_transaction = lv_btorder->get_transaction( ).
          IF lv_transaction->check_save_needed( ) EQ 'X'.
             then save the changes  and send notification
          ENDIF.
    Question:
    Now i clicked on the Change button and did some changes.Then saved.
    Then again i did some changes, now i clicked on the Sendnotification button.It sent an notification.
    Now i again clicked on the Sendnotification(this time i didnt do any changes), it sent the same notification again.
    So how to know that  actully changes done or not & how to write code if there is no changes?
    During debugging , i found that the method check_save_needed always returns 'X' as long as i am in the chage mode of that activity. As a result if i dont do any changes also in the activity and click the button , it sends the notification.
    please suggest how to restrict  using coding........

    First things first. I may not have great knowledge about Solaris clusters, so please be merciful :)
    Here it is what I have:
    - 2 x Netra T1 AC200 each with 1GB Ram, 2x18GB disks, 500 MHZ Sparc Cpu, 4 port ethernet card
    - 1 array netra d130 3x36 GB
    -- cable et all, switches , you name it
    So, I set up the OS, all ok. I set up the cluster, all SEEMS to be ok.
    But when I define my resources and stuff like that all goes fine, except when I try top bring the resource group on line.
    On another configuration I teste the shared logical hostname and works fine.

    Here it is what I see as my options:
    1 - reinstall Solaris OS, but not the Solaris Cluster 3.2, instead using Solaris Express 10/07 or 2/08. But will this combination work ? Or will it work only in the combination Solaris Cluster Express and Solaris Express Developer Edition ? If the later, which versions will work together ?
    2 - Beg for a Solaris Cluster 3.2 patch, although in my humble opinion, this should be free since it looks to me that once you write your own stuff, you run in the bug, and after all it is education

    If you want to use a quorum device - in contrast to a quorum server - then you'll need a LUN to configure your quorum device on.
    It does not matter whether this LUN will be used later as a zpool or as an SVM metaset.
    There is one exception, that should be mentioned in the docs. If the LUN used for the quorum device is later used as a disk for a zpool, and this disk gets a new EFI label, then, I think, the quorum information can get overwritten. So be careful in this specific situation and consult the docs before doing so.

    solaris has several issues with DISM, e.g.:
    Solaris 10 and Solaris 11 Shared Memory Locking May Fail (Doc ID 1590151.1)
    Sounds like Solaris Cluster  has a similar bug. A "workaround" is to reboot the (cluster) zone, that "fixes" the mlock error. This bug was introduced with updates in september, atleast to our environment (Solaris 11.1). Prior i did not have the issue and now i have to restart the entire zone, whenever i stop crs.
    With 11.2.0.3 the root.sh script can be rerun without prior cleaning up, so you should be able to continue installation at that point after the reboot. After the root.sh completes some configuration assistants need to be run, to complete the installation. You need to execute this manually as you wipe your oui session

  • HOWTO: Create 2-node Solaris Cluster 4.1/Solaris 11.1(x64) using VirtualBox

    I did this on VirtualBox 4.1 on Windows 7 and VirtualBox 4.2 on Linux.X64. Basic pre-requisites are : 40GB disk space, 8GB RAM, 64-bit guest capable VirtualBox.
    Please read all the descriptive messages/prompts shown by 'scinstall' and 'clsetup' before answering.
    0) Download from OTN
    - Solaris 11.1 Live Media for x86(~966 MB)
    - Complete Solaris 11.1 IPS Repository Image (total 7GB)
    - Oracle Solaris Cluster 4.1 IPS Repository image (~73MB)
    1) Run VirtualBox Console, create VM1 : 3GB RAM, 30GB HDD
    2) The new VM1 has 1 NIC, add 2 more NICs (total 3). Setting the NIC to any type should be okay, 'VirtualBox Host Only Adapter' worked fine for me.
    3) Start VM1, point the "Select start-up disk" to the Solaris 11.1 Live Media ISO.
    4) Select "Oracle Solaris 11.1" in the GRUB menu. Select Keyboard layout and Language.
    VM1 will boot and the Solaris 11.1 Live Desktop screen will appear.
    5) Click <Install Oracle Solaris> from the desktop, supply necessary inputs.
    Default Disk Discovery (iSCSI not needed) and Disk Selection are fine.
    Disable the "Support Registration" connection info
    6) The alternate user created during the install has root privileges (sudo). Set appropriate VM1 name
    7) When the VM has to be rebooted after the installation is complete, make sure the Solaris 11.1 Live ISO is ejected or else the VM will again boot from the Live CD.
    8) Repeat steps 1-6, create VM2 and install Solaris.
    9) FTP(secure) the Solaris 11.1 Repository IPS and Solaris Cluster 4.1 IPS onto both the VMs e.g under /home/user1/
    10) We need to setup both the packages: Solaris 11.1 Repository and Solaris Cluster 4.1
    11) All commands now to be run as root
    12) By default the 'solaris' repository is of type online (pkg.oracle.com), that needs to be updated to the local ISO we downloaded :-

    configured. The other 2 are for the cluster interconnect and will be automatically configured by scinstall. Execute the following commands :-

    The disks are attached to SATA ports 1 & 2 of each VM. On my VirtualBox on Linux, the controller type is "SATA", whereas on Windows it is "SATA Controller".
    The "--mtype shareable' parameter is important

    Mark both disks as shared :-

    can be used to create a UFS filesystem and mount it on all nodes.

  • Oracle ASM Configuration on Solaris Cluster - Oracle 11.2.0.3

    Hi,
    I want some clarifications!
    I need to set Active and Passive Cluster settup on Solaris 10 SPARC Operating System, the HA software is Solaris Cluster and Oracle 11.2.0.3.
    1) I understand "Single instance Oracle ASM is not supported with Oracle 11g release 2" so we need to go for Clustered ASM - is it required to use RAC framework in this case?
    2) When i use the RAC framework, do i need to have license for RAC?
    Am new to Oracle, any help is appreciated.
