Is someone trying to collect passwords
I accidently typed 198.162.1.1 instead of 192.168.1.1. In the past, I think I would just get an error message advising me that the address doesn't exist.
Tonight, a similar log-in screen popped up. I typed admin + my password and of course nothing happened. I then realized that I had typed the wrong IP address. After this I typed 192.168.1.1, but the same "fake" log-in screen popped up.
I went to a different PC that was not infected and changed my password right away.
Anyone else experience this? Is it a real threat or just some nuisance?
Well it may be someone collecting passwords. But then it could as well be just a normal networking device. If you have a public IP address range the router interface will be accessible from the internet unless you close it down. The .1.1 is a favorite address for routers in many subnets...
If you are worried contact the East Kootenay Community College which owns the IP address.
Enter the IP address at http://www.arin.net/whois/ and it shows you the contact information for the IP address.

If you have a passcode to the screen lock that you don't, restore the iPod from the computer to which the iPod is synced. For information and instructions, see:

If you are talking about your Apple ID password, make sure it IS your apple ID.
In the past 24 hours, I have received two emails "How to reset your Apple ID password". I had not requested any change and I finally realized someone else is trying to reset the password. I have had this Apple ID since 2009 so I am not using someone else's ID.
Again, if you are not receiving the email to reset make sure you have the right ID - it might be going to the email linked to the account, and it might not be yours. -

Apple emailed me and said someone tried to find my iphone, gave me a time date and model of iphone. How can I find out or trace who tried finding my phone?
The most anybody will be able to tell you is that it was somebody who knew (or guessed) the Apple ID and password you use for iCloud, so he/she appeared to *be* you when logged into Find my iPhone. (If you are using Family Sharing, it could be somebody else in your family group or somebody who knew or guessed their iCloud Apple ID and password.)

I have a network of 9 macs that connect via ethernet and a router. All of a sudden one of the macs cannot be connected to. It can connect to all others and the internet, but no one can connect to that one. I have appletalk active and file sharing on, but everytime someone tries to connect to it, it is not on the network. Additionally, the personal file sharing keeps turning off even though I have it locked. Any ideas?

Please help. I changed my apple id password and now cannot use facetime and my icloud continues to prompt me for my password and I continue to give it but, I repeatedly am prompted for the password unless I cancel the icloud. I have tried changing my password back to the password I had before and this did not work. I have tried to use another e-mail address for facetime and had verified that e-mail address and this did not work. I do not know how to fix this problem. I have thought about changing my apple id but am not sure how I would be able to carry over the same credit card number to the new apple ID. I loved my Mac book Pro because I could facetime my boyfriend while I am working away and now I cannot. I am starting to hate Mac.
The idea to jumpstart by change was not the smartest one, but gives you an opportunity to use that "temporary" account as permanent. You do not have a choice cause obviously despite you thinking that old account is no more -it does exist on Apple servers. And if you are unwilling to share your [email protected] with friend, just create one extra [email protected] for your friend. One suggestion - do not use gmail.

I have tried to log into my apple account so I can download my songs onto my iPhone. It keeps telling me my apple id is disabled. I've tried resetting my password but that did not work. How can I fix this?
After resetting your password you might then need to log out of your account on your device by phone on your id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores if it's on iOS 6) and then log back in so as to 'refresh' the account on it

I have an apple ID which I use to sign into icloud for my iPad and iPhone.But when I use the same ID for setting up iCloud on my Macbook it says INCORRECT ID or password, try again. I tried changing my passwords several times but it does not work for the macbook.

My iPhone 4 screen shattered so I had to buy a new one. I backed up my shattered iPhone to iTunes so that I could restore my new one. When I went to restore it, it said that I had an incorrect password although I know it was right. I tried changing the password and it still told me that I had an incorrect password. So now my new phone has lost all its pictures, its music, its apps.... is there anything I can do to get my phone to restore?? PLEASE HELP!
If you can't get the password correct, you CANNOT restore from that backup.
However, if you've been using your phone as recommended by Apple, there should be minimal data loss.
Your iTunes library is on your computer, so you can synch all your apps, music, movies, ringtones, etc, on to your new phone.
Similarly, contacts should be synched to Address Book, Outlook, or a cloud service for you to easily synch back to your new phone.
Pictures taken from your old phone and not synched to your computer are lost, but you would have been synching those photos to your computer frequently as recommended. Other photos that you synch TO your iPhone are still on your computer.
You won't be able to get text messages back. -
