Is someone trying to hack into my computer via the app store?

Apple alerted me that my ID and password have been hacked into by someone in the US downloading a free app - which arrived on my i-pad.
I've changed my password - is this sufficient - or should I change my Apple ID as well.
Since then - all my emails indicate the time as an hour behind the actual time - is this related - or just a mal-functioning coincidence?
Is it possible for someone to hack into my computer using my Apple details as a way in?
Any advice - gratefully received!

That certainly sounds like the symptoms of a hacked Apple ID. Note that you should not click on any of the links in the e-mail you received. Instead, go straight here:

Change your password, making sure to select a strong one that cannot be guessed. Then, I'd strongly encourage you to turn on two-factor authentication to prevent people from taking total control of your Apple ID:

Changing your Apple ID would mean losing all purchases you have made with your current Apple ID. That's not a solution to this problem, and will cause you other headaches.

Coincidence, most likely. I can't see any reasonable way for these things to be related.

If someone gets access to your iCloud account (which, for most people, is their Apple ID), they certainly may be able to hack your computer in a variety of ways. If you have turned on Back to My Mac, they can get access to your computer that way through your iCloud account. If you have turned on Find My Mac, they can locate, lock or even remotely erase your computer using your iCloud account. Both of these would be enabled - and can be disabled - in System Preferences -> iCloud.

You need to delete the trial & then reinstall from the boxed DVD or the Mac App Store. The files to delete are the iWork ’09 folder from the main HD > Applications; the iWork ’09 folder in HD > Library > Application Support & the individual iWork application plist files found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences for each user.
Yvan Koenig has written an AppleScript that removes the files. You can find it on his box.com account in for_iWork'09 > other_iWork'09 items > uninstall iWork '09.zip.

If you check for software updates using the App Store in OS X 10.8 and get "NSURLErrorDomain error -1100" the problem may be with your Software Update preferences. This is particularly likely if you were using a custom Apple Software Update server. To solve the problem, quit the App Store, move the following two files (if present) to the trash, restart, and only then rerun App Store updates:
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist.lockfile

I was recently trying to upgrade to mountain lion through the app store. I have unreliable Internet from a cable company whom I will not name, but we all know who they are. My Internet dropped while downloading the upgrade. Once I went through the notorious unplug the modem/router and plugged it back in to gain Internet connectivity again, I could not resume. No matter what I did, the app store kept displaying "an error occurred." I am hoping that those with the same issue read this first to save them hours of skimming through the Internet to find a solution. Here are the steps to take:
1. Make sure you have reestablished Internet connection
2. Chances are you got frustrated when you tried to resume/unpause the download and clicked the "X" to the left. If so, select the "Store" drop-down menu from the App Store and select "View My Account." There should be an option to unhide your purchase. You know what to do.
3. There is also an option to reset all warnings for buying and downloading under "View My Account." Do this, click "Done," sign out of the App Store and quit the App Store.
4. Open the Preferences in safari and select Privacy. Select "Remove All Website Data." Just do it.
5. Launch the app store and sign in.
6. Now, if you "Check for Unfinished Downloads" everything works peachy.
I hope this helps. Not much I can do for your Internet connection though.

With Mountain Lion Developer release, and most likely the finished release having all updates via the App store, how does ARD fit into the picture?

The following question is based on what I have seen in some early reports of the Developer version of Mountain Lion.
Since the Developer Release of Mountain Lion, and the final version also I expect, having all updates being installed via the App Store by the user, how is a administrator to keep hundreds of systems current with all updates? The App Store requires, at least in its current version, a user to log in with their Apple Account ID and password even to do no cost updates. In an Enterprise operation I expect a number, maybe the majority of users will just not bother to do the updates.
Is there some way to use ARD to handle keeping Mountain Lion systems fully updated from an ARD Admin system? Is there a backdoor for updating systems?

No one is going to be able to discuss how ARD might work with Mountain Lion since anyone running an ML system is under nondisclosure and cannot discuss it publicly. All anyone here can talk about is how ARD can (or cannot, as the case may be) be used to keep Lion systems updated.
At this point I don't see any easy option in ARD to run Mac App Store updates, but it might be possible to script that, though whether that could run in background, as OS updates can, or on a system without a user logged in I don't know. Someone else here may be able to offer insight. For enterprise-level management I think most people have more-or-less given up on ARD as their primary tool, though, and moved to one of the third-party solutions.

IPad is trying to download a friends updates from the App Store

I have an IPad which a friend has somehow linked to his IPhone updates.Now my IPad tells me there are updates to install from the Apps store and when I go into them it askes for his Apple ID password. Ho wdo I get rid of this!

The only way that I can imagine this occurring is if his iPhone had been synced to your computer at some point in time and he used his Apple ID and account to purchase his apps. Do you have his iPhone apps on your iPad? I think they would have to be there somewhere if the app store is telling you updates are available.
If that is the case you will have to delete the apps from your iTunes library on your computer and sync your iPad after you remove the apps. Launch iTunes, go to the library on the left side, click on Apps, then right click (control click in Windows?) on the app you want to delete and select delete. Then connect your iPad to your computer and sync. The iPad can only sync the content that is in the iTunes library so if the apps are gone, they will in effect be erased from your iPad when you sync again and this should resolve the problem.

I am trying to buy Logic Pro 9 from the app store, but every time I try I get an error

I just bought a brand new MacBook Pro 15" that runs OS X Lion and I am trying to download Logic Pro 9, but when I try to download it all I get is an error window that says "There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (100)" I have tried again later. And later again. Still the same thing. My payment does not get processed and the download never starts. I also have no firewalls up or anything else that should be getting in the way. Not really sure what to do and was wondering if anybody is having this problem.

I just recently did an update to my computer that the app store told me to update. And now my battery is draining and my computer is heating up and the fan is always on now. What do i do?

Just did an update that the app store told me i needed to do. The computer had to be restarted and everything im running verson 10.8.4 i believe it was a RAM update. What do i do? I feel like this is bad for my computer and i dont want it to overheat and what not.

I can acess the app store on my iPhone but when I click on the updates tab it says "cannot connect to the iTunes store" which is weird because I can still download apps and search them.... Can anyone suggest how I can fix this?

Try logging out of your account on the iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if it then works.
If that doesn't solve it then what has worked for some people is going into Settings > General > Date & Time and change the date to a few months (or maybe more) in the future and then re-trying

I have a mac book pro which is about 1year and 2months old and I recently purchased and dowloaded the new mac osx mountain lion using the app store. I followed every step and agreed to all the terms and conditions. However now i cannot access the app store and I cannot sign into game center.
Firstly, when i open the app store it says 'cannot connect to the app store' but somehow it can tell me that there is an update available. I have never had the problem before.
Secondly, with game center I can open it but when I type in my apple ID and click sign in nothing happens.
Help would be appreciated.

Try closing all open applications in multitasking and power cycling the device. Once this is done test the results. If the issue persists, I have included a couple troubleshooting articles that I would recommend going through.

If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.

Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
