Is Sony CX190 compatible?

I am considering buying a Sony HDR-CX190 video camera. Is it compatible with FCP X? Can I just import, or would I have to send the files through a converter? I'd rather not have to worry about convering the files so would be willing to hear suggestions for other low-cost video cameras. Thanks much!

The CX150 is on the approved camera list. I don't see why the CX190 wouldn't; it's essentially the same camera and shoots the same format.

  • Is a Sony CX190 Camcorder iMac compatible?

I have a 2 year old iMac running Mountain Lion.  It does not have Thunderbolt.  My daughter is into filmaking, and I would like to buy her a Sony CX190 HD Camcorder for Christmas.  I know the software supplied is Windows only, but the man in the shop seems to be saying that I cannot just transfer data via the storage card, but will hav eto connect via a HDMI lead.  Anyone know if this is true, and if so how do I do this with a HDMI connection on the iMac.  There do not seem to be any leads in the Apple store I could use.

If that is a Sony HDR-CX190 then the answer is yes.
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/cameras/en/index.html
It has a USB interface as well as a mini-HDMI port. If you choose to use HDMI you should buy this adapter:
Mini DisplayPort | Thunderbolt® to HDMI® Adapter w/ Audio Support
If you want to spend an additional $30 for a lower quality equivalent you can get the same thing from Apple
Moshi Mini DP to HDMI Adapter with Audio Support
That camera will work, but I recommend against buying anything that does not overtly indicate OS X support. That one does not. If a company chooses to ignore this segment of the market that's their problem. Don't make it yours.
Some people are partial to Sony; I prefer Panasonic products.

  • Recommend Sony camcorder compatible with FC.

Upgrading from Mini DV, someone recommended I consider the Sony CX series but I do not know what to consider upgrading from using Mini DV Tape Based Camcorders and Final Cut Express over the past 6 years
Considering - possible iMac upgrade, software upgrade (someone said my 06 Mac doesn't have enough memory for HD upgrade), compatible camcorder with FC and iMovie, any video software to convert footage to edit. Any advice appreciated

This will help with FCPX compatible cameras....

More important than RAM is the video card.....

If you get a compatible camera, you won't need software to convert footage... FC will do it for you.

I have recently bought a Sony Bloggie which I was assured would download footage to my iPad but when I plug it in it tells me the USB device needs more power. Is there a way round this? Thanks

I was told today by Sony that the Bloggie touch is not compatible with the Ipad. Some of the earlier models are.?? The engineers at Sony are working on a fix for this and are hoping a firmware update will do the trick. We'll be waiting!!

I recently bought the Xperia L but it did not come with a headset out of the box, I found this headset on the official Sony mobile site and was wondering if it is compatible with the Xperia L?
It is compatible with the Xperia Z according to the site so it should be with the L?

Yes, that will work with your phone. Xperia L uses the same standard on the 3.5mm as Xperia Z.

  • Are Sony Walkmans compatible with itunes?

I have recently turned to itunes, but I have a sony walkman player, are they compatible with itunes?

You can, however, use tracks you import into iTunes or purchase from the iTunes Store on your Walkman. You will have to use whatever method Sony provides for loading tracks onto the Walkman, and may have to convert the tracks to a format the Walkman can accept (tracks from the iTunes Store are 256 kbps AAC, which is the default setting for importing from CDs as well).
    Regards.

  • Newbie question:- Is my Sony camcorder compatible with iMovie?

Hi, I have been using Sony and Panasonic camcorder mini-DVs for some time and have been creating DVDs using a Sony notebook with very clear and crisp videos.
Recently, I used my new Macpro to try out iMovie and iDVD. While mini-DV tapes created using Panasonic gives the same satisfactory videos, those recorded using Sony is giving me dismal output with facial features quite blur even when rendering using Professional Quality. Can anyone advise?
I must confess I really like the iMovie software compared to the one on my Sony notebook! So I hope to make use of it.

That's odd since MiniDV tapes are digital and should be the same. I've used a $2000 Sony camcorder and $200 Canon and have not noticed any difference with my DVDs when the recording speeds are 1 hour per 60 minute tape, and the encoding process is the same.

  • Is Sony HDVFX7 compatible with FCP...Can it capture HDV footage?

I have been trying to capture video from the sony FX7 but FCP doesn,t seem to recognize the camera.

You will need FC 5.0.4 or better to have HDV support. Before connecting any firewire cables make sure your camera is setup to ouput HDV by turning it in VTR mode and find the Menu, Rec In/Out, ilink conv, and set to off. In FC use an HDV easy setup to match your camera and set your scratch disk. Shut down your computer connect the firewire cable to computer and camera then re-boot.
Open FC from the project you used to setup the HDV project and verify the easy HDV setup, turn on the camera in VTR mode, open log and capture and play the tape from within the deck controls, capture as needed.

    Hello Mzsumabuni,
    Welcome to the Sony Community.
I'm not aware of any methods or ways to connect your PlayStation to Sony party streaming.  PlayStation Support have their own separate forums and so are best qualified to address any issues or questions you may have on PlayStation products and peripherals and games - here is the link:

  • Sony DSR-250 -- Multipurpose Thoughts

I am considering this camera; SONY DSR-250 and need your advice.
My hope is to buy a camera to serve a multi-purpose role including:
    short films
corporate work -- commerials, seminars and speakers
    TV news
independent journalism -- news repprts, feature stories for websites
and also legal used such as depositions...
    My questions:
    1. Is this Sony mac-compatible?
    2. Is this camera a solid, multi-purpose camcorder that I can use for different needs?
    3. Strengths/weaknesses assessments
    4. This camera is in the $4k range, any others that I should consider to serve these needs in these $?
    Thank you.

It's an ok camera. for my money, I'd get a dvx 100 instead. Better optics. But the 250 will take large shell cassettes, up to 3 hrs recording time, and records in dvcam, better than dv.

  • Dvd players won't read iDVD 6 burned dvd...

My recent DVD of photos burned with iDVD 6 on 2 different DVD-R (Verbatim and Maxwell) is readable on Apple computers (tried on 3 different G4 powerbooks) but not readable in the severeal home dvd players I've tried (3 different makers: 3 year old Panasonic, 2 year old Samsung, 2 year old Sony, all compatible with DVD-R format). I will try as suggested in many forums to burn at slower speed. Any other suggestion on what is causing this?

    Hello,
I have the opposite problem. DVDs made with iDVD6 play fine on my Samsung combo DVD/VCR and my Sony Windows notebook -- but they DON'T PLAY BACK on the Apple iMac that burned them or on my iBook -- both the Apples return a message that the media cannot be read in this computer (great: it can be burned but not read!).
Did you find any answer? if so, I'd appreciate your sharing it.

  • I have a sony handy cam model HDR-HC1 and a mac pro running osx10.9.3, are they compatible? as far as downloading movies from my handy cam. thanks in advance

i have a sony handy cam model HDR-HC1 and a mac pro running osx10.9.3, are they compatible? as far as downloading movies from my handy cam. thanks in advance. If not, is there a different route i can take to get those recordings in to my mac pro?

See if the cam shows up under Devices in the Image Capture app.
Image Capture is located in your Applications folder.
Launch Image Capture then connect the camera.
The camera should show up under Devices top left side of the Image Capture window.
Now look at the bottom left side of the window. Click the: Connecting this (device) opens: pop up menu and select an application to import your photos.
You can also select a folder to import photos from the Import To: pop up menu.
Selet the photos you want to import then click Import or Import All on the right.
