Is sound supposed to come from both speakers?

I have a brand new MacBook Pro. All of the sound (music) is coming from the right internal speaker. It is balanced properly in the Audio prefs and the MIDI prefs...Headphones are balanced fine too. I cannot find info regarding "stereo" sound pertaining to the internal speakers... is this normal, or am I missing half of my music? At home I use a DAC, so this is only an issue on the road...

it's PRAM reset and extremely harmless. on of the things it will do is boot from your internal hard drive, so if you're using a different hard drive to run your os you'll have to revert back to that the way you did before. but I doubt that's your case. again, harmless but make sure you follow the instructions to the T and report back

Phone makes "morse code" sound when in use, not all the time but quite frequently. The sound does not come from the speakers, infact it comes from the comments inside the phone.

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar to have it evaluated by the techs there. This is not normal and is probably not something that a user can fix.

recently i have a very annoying problem anytime i plug in a headphone on the sound comes from both the laptop speakers and the headphones
I tried the following
1- Changed the driver tried both versions on the HP support
2- changed the headphones tried 3 of them and the same problem
3- tried the Microsoft HD Audio driver (no sound could comeout from the headphones)
4- tried disabling the communication device from the control panel while the speakers is on and vise versa
5- A system restore
still the same problem and i think it maybe an malfunction from the hardware or the headphones jack port on the laptop but how does the sound still come out from the headphones ?
I thought of buying a USB headphones but the laptop is no more than 3 months old so i think i still on warranty and such if it is a hardware problem , I am currently in Egypt bought the laptop from Egypt also

Take a look at this document, which provides troubleshooting steps that I hope, help resolve your issue. You are also in warranty, and are welcome to call and speak to an HP rep to help as well.
Since you are in Greece, look here for the number you need to call for tech support.

When I connect my iPhone 3GS to my PC, a bizarre sound comes from the speakers of the PC.

This is a strange problem. When I connect my iPhone 3GS to my PC, a bizarre sound comes from the speakers of the PC. The sound is constant and low but irritating.

Recently, I found with iPad Mini w/o Retina, iOS 7.0.4, the sound comes only from left side of my earphone when listening music, watching YouTube videos, even playing system sound. But the sound come from both sides when using FaceTime.
Earphone is not broken. Plug completely into the audio jack. This problem only shows up recently, worked fine weeks ago.

okay, try option-clicking on the speaker icon on the top of your screen. That should bring up a list of sound output options. including headphone. You could try messing around with Audio MIDI. It may be possible that the thing is still stuck inside the headphone jack. Careful use of a toothpick may get it unstuck. I dunno, I've never had a problem with the headphone jack. If all else fails, call Apple or take 'er in for an appointment

Check in System Preferences>Sound>Output that you have the Balance Slider in the center - not to the left or right. Also check the Guitar track balance knob - the white dot should be at the top.

If your MBair is a 2012 model, it has a Magsafe 2 power connection. The monitor probably has the old magsafe connection. If this is the case, you need this adapter.

It does not seem to be linked to a specific program or periferal use.
I would appreciate if someone can shed some light on this.

Run the Apple Hardware Test and swee if any issues are discovered. Also a SMC and PRAM resets may help.

Headphones plugged in, but sound is coming out from both headphones and speakers

My laptop has had this problem for quite some time now, it first materialized when I updated to Windows 8.1. I had recently upgraded to Windows 10, and the problem fixed itself. But when I used the laptop the next day, it reverted back to playing from both headphones and speakers, so it's not really a problem with the hardware. I've also restored the laptop multiple times (using restore point), and the problem gets fixed for a day, then comes back the next day. I've tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it, but no luck.
Laptop does not recognize the headphones even when they're plugged in.
Any other solutions?

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion 14-b017c Sleekbook and not playing sound correctly. Here is a document on troubleshooting sound.
Here is another step to try.
1. Right click speaker icon (right hand corner)
2. Select Playback devices
3. Right click Speakers IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio is your default.
4. Enable it and set as Default
5. Click Apply/Ok
Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues as headphones or speakers.
You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook.

Sound coming from both speakers and headphones at the same time in probook 4440s

I have a Probook 4440s with windows 8 pro(64 bit) with IDT high definition codec installed. Yesterday when i was playing some songs i noticed that the sound was coming from both headphones and speakers even when my headphones are plugeed in and my lappy was having no such problems a few hours earliers while i was watching a movie. Please help..

It may be because you have both the internal speakers and headphones enabled at the sametime on your laptop. This might just happen automatically when you plug your headphones in. You need to manage your audio devices on your laptop.
Go to Control Panel> Hardware and Sounds> Manage Audio Devices> Playback Tab (which should already be selected)
In the playback tab there should be a list of all the audio devices you are using on your computer. Right click on the one you don't want to use and click disable. This should stop the sound coming from that audio device.
Remember: You will need to enable that audio device if you want to listen to sound through it again. Your internal speakers won't work once you enable them again. This might also be the case with your headphones. You may also have to do this every time your plug in a device or once you restart your computer.
Another note: Sometimes disabled devices will not show up on the audio device list so once you disable a device it will dissappear. This is an easy fix too. Just right click on an audio device and make sure show disabled devices and show disconnected devices is checked.

Sound output: keeps changing from internal speakers to Apple TV

My iMac keeps changing the soudn output from internal speakers to Apple TV. Why. This makes it a pain. Eveytime I use the iMAc, I have to go into preferences>sound>output and switch to internal speakers. Any ideas how to stop this form happeneing?

If you use LogMeIn, it is their sound driver. I'm having identical problem and it started after using LogMeIn.
