Is SP7 install supposed to install iManager 2.7?

I installed SP7 on a SBS 6.5.1 server. When I restarted it, there was
still iManager 2.0.2 running. I had expected to see iManager 2.7
running. I thought I got iManager 2.7 out of SP7 at another site.
Is SP7 supposed to update iManager to 2.7?
If not do I need to install iManager & iPrint & things from the CDs
that I made from the SP7 ISO images?

  • MDM 7.1 SP7, Install Several Instances in one database?

    Hello,
we are investigating to install MDM 7.1 Sp7 with several instances to separate impact in different repositories, but with one database (oracle). Has someone done this kind of installations? Has it improved stability?
    Regards,
    Alexander Türk

    Hello,
This clearly says, it adds a new, but nothing of multiple instances.
For an MDM environment to work, we require three Servers, Master Data Server(MDS), Import Server(MDIS), Syndication Server(MDIS).
MDIS and MDSS run in conjunction with MDS.
This refers to the multiple instances, but in all it will an single installation across environment.
You will have the basic Development, Quality and production, each will have a different installation.
    an extract from help.sap.com site
Support for Installing and Running Multiple MDM Server Components on a Single Machine
Starting from MDM 7.1 SP06, you can install and run multiple MDM server components on one physical machine.
One advantage of installing multiple MDM server components on a single machine, as opposed to loading multiple MDM repositories on a single Master Data Server (MDS), is that parallel execution of imports/syndications to/from loaded MDM repositories is possible. Another advantage is that you can have two repositories for separate projects on two different MDM versions on the same machineu2014resulting in reduced TCO. (In previous releases you would be required to separate the repositories on two different MDM servers, and adhere to the recommendation that the Master Data Import Server (MDIS) and Master Data Syndicator Server (MDSS) be run on a separate machine from the Master Data Server (MDS)).
Each Master Data Import Server (MDIS) and Master Data Syndicator Server (MDSS) must be configured to work with one particular MDS only.
You can distribute the MDM server components according to the following hardware configuration options:
    ●      Multiple Master Data Servers on one machine with remote MDM Import/Syndication Servers on a second machine, and a DBMS on a third machine.
    ●      Multiple Master Data Servers and MDM Import/Syndication Servers on one machine with a remote DBMS on a separate machine.
    ●      Multiple Master Data Servers, MDM Import/Syndication Servers, and a DBMS all on one machine.
Test results show that hardware sizing parameters are almost identical for all the aforementioned configuration options; therefore the configuring option you choose should be based solely on your preferred hardware setup.

  • NW2004s SP7 install problem

    Hi,
When I try to install on Win XP SP2 Home edition, I get the following error:
    "ERROR 2006-07-24 17:58:09
MOS-01185  The subkey 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NPFMntor' does not exist on the 'localhost' host."
    1) NPFMntor.exe is a process belonging to the Norton Antivirus Internet security suite, and I don't understand why this message appears in the log. Any ideas?
    2) Do I need to use Win XP professional for the install, not the home edition of Win XP?
    Kind Regards,
    Tony Bateman.

    Hi,
you'll need at least XP Professional, as XP Home does not allow for different user groups than the predefined, and the installer creates additional groups, or fails, in case of XP Home

  • Ok to installing NW 7.1 Mobile on the same server as CRM 7.0?

    Hi,
On a physical server (HP-UX), we have CRM 7.0 (basis 7.01 SP7) installed already (development system). Is it possible to install NW 7.1 Mobile on the same server (as sandbox)? Is there any issues that you see this might cause?
We will install the SUP and Relay server on a separate Linux box.
    Thank you for any pointers,
    -Serine

It's not advisable to run separate installations of
ColdFusion 7 and ColdFusion 8 single server on the same machine the
re are several services that will try to use the same ports.
However, you can install ColdFusion Enterprise using the
multi-server configuration and then deploy the J2EE versions of
ColdFusion to JRun. You can change the JVM that each instance uses
(we recommend the latest 1.4 for CF7 and the latest 1.6 for CF8),
    and everything should run fine.
ColdFusion itself is essentially just a J2EE application, the
J2EE server itself is JRun 4. So the specific answer to your
question is "don't install 2 copies of JRun 4 to the same machine".
But yes, it's 100% possible, I'm running this configuration in my
    own development environment.

I have deployed few applications and they were running successfully.
From debugging point of view, i like to see the output from System.out.println .
Prior to SP7 there is a console which shows this output. But now the batch files only starts and stops the admin and site server services. Where to see for console output?
Is there command like tail.exe of Weblogic awailable for Sun Java System Web Server or any setting to be done in Admin?

It was working fine until SP7 installed on few weeks back. So can we have quick solution like any OSS note or any SPs to find the solution.
Extra information for this bug is following

  • Crystal 9 SP7 merge modules

    Post Author: paulhaines
    CA Forum: Older Products
Has anyone yet made Crystal 9 merge modules that included the SP7 update?  I see the last one posted in the downloads section is still prior to SP6.
We ran into an issue lately where the Crystal 9 viewer crashes after repeated attempts to the same report over and over.  One of our programmers installed the SP7 update on his PC and the issue was resolved.  However, when we package the last merge modules and deploy it to our users - they still get the problem.  If we force the SP7 install on their PC (which is only meant for a full install of CR9) and click past all of the errors on the backup -- it works!  The issue doesn't appear anymore.
I'm going a bit nuts trying to butcher the old merge modules to include the SP7 updated files, but I'm finding a futile effort.  Does Business Objects have SP7 merge modules that can be put in the download area?  Or can I get a list of all the files that should be included in each merge module and I'll build it myself.

    Hello,
It is unlikely that the CR9 merge modules are going to be updated any more.  SP7 for CR9 was released back in January 2006, and all patch support, etc. has expired for CR9.
The work around is going to be to install SP7 on your client machines.  While BOBJ never recommended installing full SPs on a deployment machine in this case you really don't have an option.

  • IManager iPrint snap-ins not available

Only thing listed under iPrint is Client Configuration - RBS claims iPrint is unavailable because:
"No pages run in the current environment or support the current device."
Removing and re-installing iPrint Management snap-ins for iManager does not solve problem.
Removing and re-installing iManager also does not work.
Attempted to uninstall and re-install iPrint, but selecting in YaST2 to do so marks other CRITICAL services (ie, eDirectory) for deletion. Unable to proceed.

Where do I send you a beer?
That was it. RBS was trying to push NetWare iPrint functions to the Linux iManager server. I added iPrint Management 2.7 from the available list of plug-ins not managed and it worked.

I wouldn't have expected either to work :-)
The problem is with RBS, which is stored in the directory. I think that
you probably have multiple RBS profiles defined, and for some reason the
iManager server cannot work out correctly which should be applied on the
server that you log into. I have seen RBS try to force the use of the
Netware iPrint plugins on a Linux box. I think you will need to look into
your RBS structure/scopes etc. I'm sorry, but my RBS knowledge is not up
    to that.

  • IManager Issues

    Hello,
Late last year I upgraded our main Netware 6.5 to SP8 (It was needed).
I never noticed but IManager stopped working after that. I need to load IPrint on the same server, and I noticed it did not have TomCat5 running. It appeared that TomCat 4 was running. I saw somewhere to use the latest IPrint/NDPS I needed TomCat5.
So I found a tid showing how to load IManager 2.7 and Tomcat5. Which I did last night. But IManager is still not working.
The server had IManager 2.02, which I uninstalled. Then I installed IManager 2.7 and Tomcat5.
I ran PKIDIAG and did not have any errors.
Where do I start trouble shooting?
    Thanks
    Phil J

After further review and some research I found what appears to be some errors in the SYS:\Apache2\conf\httpd.conf . But I am not sure what should be there..

    Include sys:/tomcat/4/conf/tomcatadmin-apache.conf
    Include sys:/tomcat/4/conf/tomcatmanager-apache.conf
    Include sys:/tomcat/4/conf/nps-Apache.conf
    include sys:\apache2\ifolder\server\httpd_ifolder_nw.conf

    include iprint/ipp.conf
    ##### End Novell iPrint configuration #####
    # NetWare iManager Config
    Include sys:/tomcat/5.0/conf/nps-Apache.conf
From what I am reading I should be using Tomcat 5.0. So should I change all of the Tomcat 4 references to Tomcat 5.0?
    And would this effect Ifolder?

  • BorderManager 3.9 & iManager 2.7.3 Problem

I originally posted this to the iManager forum; however, there have been no responses except one from a Novell Knowledge Partner suggesting that I post it to a BorderManager forum to see if anyone who frequents such forums may have an answer or suggestion.
    So, here it is:
I'm running iManager Workstation 2.7.3 from my personal laptop and two other test workstations. iManager works fine for the most part; however, under "Roles and Tasks," when I attempt to access certain BorderManager Access Rules screens, I get the following two error messages:
    (1) javax.servlet.jsp.jspException: File "/jsp/taglib/help.jsp" not found.
    (2) File "/debug.jsp" not found.
    Any ideas are appreciated.
Here are the specs for my setup:
    (1) Server running BorderManager:
    * NetWare 6.5 SP6. (I'm going to build and test an SP8 BorderManager server today to take the service pack question out of the equation.)
    * Tomcat 4.1.31.
    * BorderManager 3.9 SP2.
    * java.nlm: version 1.42.07 September 14, 2006.
    (2) Workstation:
    * Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3.
    * java version 1.6.0_14-b08.
    * iManager Workstation 2.7.3.
    Thanks much.

Hmmm. Thanks for the feedback. I'm keeping my eyes open for similar
    issues now.
    Craig,
I recently came across the following from your web site: "BorderManager 3.9 (public beta) Installation / Patch Sequence -- On OES NetWare (NetWare 6.5sp6): iManager note: If you have issues seeing the new Proxy Services and Access rules menu entries for BorderManager 3.9, you need to be sure that you a) have the BorderManager.npm module installed, b) you have role-based services installed, and c) you have installed the BorderManager module into Role Based Services 2. If something went wrong in the installation, it is possible you may have to run the FILLATR.NCF utility to set up the needed schema extensions for the new iManager options for Access Control and Proxy Services to work. Be aware the iManager 2.7 needs BorderManager plugins from BM39SP1 to work."
I can't say, though, if this is the root of the problems I experienced. I didn't mess with role-based services much during my testing. This is because I understood role-based services to be optional and my default user, admin, logged in to iManager with unrestriced access. I also used the current BorderManager plug-ins available from Novell's web site: NBM ACL Configuration (2.1.20080213), NBM Firewall Configuration (2.1.20080201), NBM Proxy Configuration (2.1.20080213), and NBM VPN Configuration (2.1.20080201).
I'll do more testing when I find the time; however, I work for a school district and classes begin next week, so we're in the middle of crunch time.

  • Problems to browse the tree

    Hello,
i just installed the Evaluation Copy eDirectory 8.8 on a server (SuSE 9.3)
in my testing environment (based on vmware). The NDS is up (i see activate
in ndstrace) and i can browse for the tree from a different SuSE 9.3 with
NCL 1.0, but if i try to browse for the context, then i get an error: No
Access for Tree "Treename" and when i try to browse for Servers, i only get
    an empty list.
When i try to login, with manually filled out context and/or Server, then i
    get the error message:
    Connection through Server not Possible:[TREENAME].
    Error:NWCCOpenConnByName:NWE - Server not found
(Had to translate this Message from German to english ;-) )
With iManager Mobile 2.5 i can login. I have a look to the [Public] Trustee
of the Tree and there is the Browse Right enabled. So i think that it
should be possible to browse for context and server, but my box did not do
    that.
Any Suggestions for me? Sorry for my bad Knowledge of eDirectory, but the
last time i had to do with eDirectory is sometime ago (Update CNE4 to
    CNE5 :-) )

OK, i tried this way, but it will also be the same.
After i try to setup eDir 8.8 i have switched back to eDir 8.7 with the
    latest Patch to 8.7.3.7.
I have setup one SLP DA with default settings, only edit the slp.conf to
told them to act as an DA. Then i have install eDir 8.7. Once finished and
start the NDS Demon, i tried to have a look if SLP found the service with
    slptool which is successfully.
After that, i have install a second server with eDir like above, but the SLP
Demon did not act as DA. I test successfully to find the ndap service with
slptool. Also i configure successfully the NDS with ndsconfig to add the
    new Server to my tree.
Then i install on a third Machine a client. I also configure there SLP and i
    found successfully the ndap.novell service.
So i install the Novell Client and fire up again the machine after
Installation was succesfull (including novfs). I configure the Client as
    follows:
    - SLP for Name Resolution
    - default for SCOPE (because i did not configure it in slp.conf, and the
standard Scope is default if unconfigured)
    - DA List with IP Address of DA was automatical read from slp.conf.
But if i try to login i also get the same Errors:
    - i can browse for the tree
    - i can´t browse for context (No ACCESS to Tree "TREENAME")
    - i get an empty list, if i browse for servers
    - if i try to login with manually inserted context and server, i get the
    Error Message:
    Connection through Server not Possible:[TREENAME].
    Error:NWCCOpenConnByName:NWE - Server not found
After that i installed Console ONE 1.3.6e and there i get an Error -748 time
out when i try to look into NDS.
Then i installed iManager Mobile, and i can login through iManager. It was
also possible to make some Operations on NDS like the creation of User, and
    Partitions.
So i tried also to login directly on the servers and workstation with the
ndslogin tool on the console, and it was also possible to login on each
    server and on the workstation.
So now i am very confused about this. I can login with iManager and
ndslogin, but can't login with Novell Client and Console ONE.
    Greetings

  • Tomcat begin event threw exception

    G'day
This is a freshly built SLES10sp3 OES2sp1 server.
    Everything works except for iManager/novell-tomcat5
In the catalina.out each time I try to start Tomcat I get
ERROR org.apache.commons.digester.Digester - Begin event threw exception
    etc......
I've only found one other reference to this kind of failure in Tomcat

I have reinstalled the iManager pattern then installed iManager and I
    have also reinstalled novell-web-config Novell-tomcat5 and mod_jk

I did checksum the new SLES10sp3 media and verified that media during

I followed your removal and re-install and Novell-tomcat5 started up fine.
    Thanks.

    G'day
This is a freshly built SLES10sp3 OES2sp1 server.
    Everything works except for iManager/novell-tomcat5
In the catalina.out each time I try to start Tomcat I get
ERROR org.apache.commons.digester.Digester - Begin event threw exception

I've only found one other reference to this kind of failure in Tomcat

I have reinstalled the iManager pattern then installed iManager and I
    have also reinstalled novell-web-config Novell-tomcat5 and mod_jk

I did checksum the new SLES10sp3 media and verified that media during

  • Can't change order of rules

    Running NW 6.5 SP7
    BM 3.9 SP1
    iManager 2.7.1
I'm trying to re-order rules in iManager. When I try and move a rule up or down, the rule in question will be bumped down one count, e.g. moving it from #5 to #3 would bump it to #6
Really don't feel like editing the XML file every time.
    Any ideas what's causing this?

No matter what way you try to move a rule, it simply moves down one
    position?
That's very odd, and it sounds to me like it would be an iManager issue,
though I've never heard of that one before.
Have you tried with another iManager?
Are you sure you are understanding how the procedure works? It's not like
    the old NWADMIN approach.
