Is spacebar considered to be a special character when creating a password?
Hi !
I would like to know if spacebar is a special character when it comes to creating a password.
I have complexity enabled but my system will no longer accept a PW using spaces as special characters. Did something change recently? It worked a little more than a month ago for my account.
A test example PW I've tried is
My name is Bill
If I add a number or punctuation to this phrase it works. It should have exceeded all my requirements as originally entered though.

How do I create a connection with a special character (!) in the password ?
Oracle 11.2.0.3 EE on Solaris
SQL*Developer 3.1.0.6 on Windows 7
Due to security requirements our passwords contain an exclamation mark (!) but I can't get SQL*Developer to recognize it.
I've tried to put it in quotes, escaping it and even swearing at it but to no avail.
I get the famous ORA-1017-Invalid username/password
It seems to be no trouble for TOAD!!
Many thanks!

I finally saw a error in the message tab at the bottom of the screen: error 108 o.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver Error while registering Oracle JDBC Diagnosability MBean.
According to Oracle Support Note:469494.1 I had a conflict with having two (2) versions of SQL*Developer on my laptop.
The first was downloaded and installed as a standalone product. This was followed up by installing the 11g Client which also contains a version of SQL*Developer, albeit a much older version. This caused a JDBC library conflict of some kind.
As per the note, since I only had one (1) Oracle Home, I renamed the %ORACLE_HOME%/jdbc/lib directory to lib$.
That seems to force the use of the newer jdbc library files and all seems to be good.
Turned out not to be anything related to the special characters in the password even though the popup message indicated that was the issue.
Thanks for all the help!!

Text Field in FB03 doc are correct but displays special character when TXT
Hi SAP experts,
Can anybody try to help with a very complex issue in FB03 documents?
In SAP the documents shows Line Item Text with a simple description, for example:
TEXT: VENDOR US#34 INVOICEHi SAP experts,
Can anybody try to help with a very complex issue in FB03 documents?
In SAP the documents shows Line Item Text with a simple description, for example:
LINE ITEM TEXT: VENDOR US#34 INVOICE
When the job scheduling team runs an interface that gathers all the FB03 documents to be sent to another legacy, it generates very big TXT files of accounting documents.
When you open the TXT file, the text :
VENDOR US#34 INVOICE
is transformed into :
VENDOR USÂ@34 INVOICE
Which means # is transformed into special characters making failure in the load in the Legacy.
This happens when text contains # - ´ ##
Can anybody shed any light as to why TXT transforms the original text into special characters?

How can I setup a macro that types a special character when I press a key on the keyboard?
I have an aplication where I am unable to insert a tilde (~) by pressing alt+Ñ. (I have a spanish keyboard) The only way this app lets my input a tilde, is by copying and pasting it in, which is extremely annoying and time consuming.
Is there any way I can setup a script in Automator, or by any other means, that will automatically insert a tilde whenever I press a single key, such as a Function key? Or maybe I can make it so that whenever I type 'tilde' it will replace that with ~ ? I already tried using a keyboard shortcut (below) but it did not work.Hello,
In order to achieve this, please use the Slideshow widget in which Thumbnails are not shown.
And enable to "Next" button in the widget. Now expand that Next button container to cover the target image area.
Now when you click on the image, it will click the Next button container and it will move to the next image.
Please have a look at the short video I just created which might be helpful : http://trainingwebcom.worldsecuresystems.com/SachinFTP/2013-07-23_2324.swf

Special character (Space) coming in excel output
Hi,
I am using rtf to develop a XML report. The output type is excel so I am using force Ltr property to allign few fields. But I am getting special character when I copy and paste a value of the O/P in the notepad. When I don use Force LTR the problem is not there but the allignment goes for a toss. So is there any way by whcih the issue can be resolved keeping the force LTR.?This seems to be a BUG, please share if there is any workaround for the above issue.
I have tried below approach in order to retain leading zeros.
Excel Output From BI Publisher or XML Publisher is Trimming Leading Zeros [ID 417811.1]

Encoding-Special Character-poi
HI
I am trying to read data from xls file using POI api's for some special character when trying to read Im not getiing them read or uploded into database properly. However the same data when uploaded from txt file using a text parser is being read properly.
Can anyone tell me where to set the encoding of the data read from xls to iso-8859-1 in
POI api's .
One more thing do we set or get encoding for cell or workbook.
Thanks in advance
Birendar S WaldiyaWhen you use an UDF and you have programmed a Sax parser, then make sure, that the parser works with the correct encoding. So when the result of the webservice is ISO-8859-1, then assign this to the parser.
In principle the encoding should be part of XML header. Make sure that the encoding of the response is the same as declared in XML header. -
External Table - Issues With Special Character.
I have an external table that reads from a fixed length file. The file is expected to contain special characters. In my case the word containing special character is "Göteborg". Because "ö" is a special character, looks like Oracle is considering it as 2 bytes. That causes the trouble. The subsequent fields in the files get shifted by 1 byte thereby messing up the data. Has anyone faced the issue before. So far we have tried the following solution:
Changed the value of NLS_LANG to AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1
Tried Setting the Database Character set to UTF-8
Tried changing the NLS_LENGTH_SYMMANTIC to CHAR instead of BYTE using ALTER SYSTEM
Tried changing the External table characterset to: AL32UTF8
Tried changing the External table characterset to: UTF-8
Nothing works. Other details include:
• File is UTF-8 encoded
• Operating System : RHEL
• Database: Oracle 11gR2
Any thing else that I might be missing? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I have a no code sandbox solution, in a content by search web part, I want to return pages from the library except the page I am visiting.
I have 2 pages:
Page A, the title is: Page title without special character
Page B, the title is: Page title with special character "a b c d ..."
And then I use Title<>{Page.Title} in the query text of the CSWP.
While I visit Page A, the CSWP returns Page B, it works as expected.
But while I visit Page B, the CSWP returns nothing, expected result should be Page A. I just consider, whether the special characters in the Title of Page B breaks the query text.
I can not find similar topics in the forum, Does anyone have idea?
Many thanks!Thank you for your feedback, Daniel.
I have some updates, and found the root cause: if the field value contains special characters, the CSWP will not render the double quotation marks around the field value.
View the page html source, and then find the text "QueryModification", you will see what happen:
Query Text Input: Title<>{Page.Title}
1. While the page title is "Test Page 1" (without special character), the rendered query text is
Title<>\"Test Page 1\". It works as expected.
2. While the page title is "Test-Page-1" (with special character "-", of cause we have more special characters on production), the rendered query text is
Title<>Test-Page-1. The double quotation marks are not rendered by the CSWP, so the query text are broken. It does not work as expected.
If I make the query text as Title<>"{Page.Title}"
1. While the page title is "Test Page 1", the rendered query text is
Title<>\"\"Test Page 1\"\". It does NOT work since the
quotes are duplicated (no sure why CSWP duplicates the quota mark),
2. While the page title is "Test-Page-1", the rendered query text is
Title<>\"Test-Page-1\". Quotes are correct, but it does NOT work as expected still.
The expected rendered query text (view from the html source) should be
Title<>\"Test\\\-Page\\\-1\". (Here is test url: <a href="http://server/_api/search/query?querytext='Title<>"Test%5c%5c%5c-Page%5c%5c%5c-1"'&rowlimit=10">http://server/_api/search/query?querytext='Title<>"Test%5c%5c%5c-Page%5c%5c%5c-1"'&rowlimit=10)
From the above information, I can say the CSWP not handle the special character correctly ("\" is not inserted before any special charactor).
Is there any setting in CSWP can be used to resolve above problem? -
Replacing a special character in a string with another string
Hi
I need to replace a special character in a string with another string.
Say there is a string - "abc's def's are alphabets"
and i need to replace all the ' (apostrophe) with &apos& ..which should look like as below
"abc&apos&s def&apos&s are alphabets" .
Kindly let me know how this requirement can be met.

Syntax Forms
Pattern-based replacement
1. REPLACE [{FIRST OCCURRENCE}|{ALL OCCURRENCES} OF]
pattern
IN [section_of] dobj WITH new
[IN {BYTE|CHARACTER} MODE]
[{RESPECTING|IGNORING} CASE]
[REPLACEMENT COUNT rcnt]
{ {[REPLACEMENT OFFSET roff]
[REPLACEMENT LENGTH rlen]}
| [RESULTS result_tab|result_wa] }.
Position-based replacement
2. REPLACE SECTION [OFFSET off] [LENGTH len] OF dobj WITH new
[IN {BYTE|CHARACTER} MODE].
Effect
This statement replaces characters or bytes of the variable dobj by characters or bytes of the data object new. Here, position-based and pattern-based replacement are possible.
When the replacement is executed, an interim result without a length limit is implicitly generated and the interim result is transferred to the data object dobj. If the length of the interim result is longer than the length of dobj, the data is cut off on the right in the case of data objects of fixed length. If the length of the interim result is shorter than the length of dobj, data objects of fixed length are filled to the right with blanks or hexadecimal zeroes. Data objects of variable length are adjusted. If data is cut off to the right when the interim result is assigned, sy-subrc is set to 2.
In the case of character string processing, the closing spaces are taken into account for data objects dobj of fixed length; they are not taken into account in the case of new.
System fields
sy-subrc Meaning
0 The specified section or subsequence was replaced by the content of new and the result is available in full in dobj.
2 The specified section or subsequence was replaced in dobj by the contents of new and the result of the replacement was cut off to the right.
4 The subsequence in sub_string was not found in dobj in the pattern-based search.
8 The data objects sub_string and new contain double-byte characters that cannot be interpreted.
Note
These forms of the statement REPLACE replace the following obsolete form:
REPLACE sub_string WITH
Syntax
REPLACE sub_string WITH new INTO dobj
[IN {BYTE|CHARACTER} MODE]
[LENGTH len].
Extras:
1. ... IN {BYTE|CHARACTER} MODE
2. ... LENGTH len
Effect
This statement searches through a byte string or character string dobj for the subsequence specified in sub_string and replaces the first byte or character string in dobj that matches sub_string with the contents of the data object new.
The memory areas of sub_string and new must not overlap, otherwise the result is undefined. If sub_string is an empty string, the point before the first character or byte of the search area is found and the content of new is inserted before the first character.
During character string processing, the closing blank is considered for data objects dobj, sub_string and new of type c, d, n or t.
System Fields
sy-subrc Meaning
0 The subsequence in sub_string was replaced in the target field dobj with the content of new.
4 The subsequence in sub_string could not be replaced in the target field dobj with the contents of new.
Note
This variant of the statement REPLACE will be replaced, beginning with Release 6.10, with a new variant.
Addition 1
... IN {BYTE|CHARACTER} MODE
Effect
The optional addition IN {BYTE|CHARACTER} MODE determines whether byte or character string processing will be executed. If the addition is not specified, character string processing is executed. Depending on the processing type, the data objects sub_string, new, and dobj must be byte or character type.
Addition 2
... LENGTH len
Effect
If the addition LENGTH is not specified, all the data objects involved are evaluated in their entire length. If the addition LENGTH is specified, only the first len bytes or characters of sub_string are used for the search. For len, a data object of the type i is expected.
If the length of the interim result is longer than the length of dobj, data objects of fixed length will be cut off to the right. If the length of the interim result is shorter than the length of dobj, data objects of fixed length are filled to the right with blanks or with hexadecimal 0. Data objects of variable length are adapted.
Example
After the replacements, text1 contains the complete content "I should know that you know", while text2 has the cut-off content "I should know that".
DATA: text1 TYPE string VALUE 'I know you know',
text2(18) TYPE c LENGTH 18 VALUE 'I know you know',
sub_string TYPE string VALUE 'know',
new TYPE string VALUE 'should know that'.
REPLACE sub_string WITH new INTO text1.
REPLACE sub_string WITH new INTO text2. -
Error while releasing transport request - Special character "_" in generic
Hi all,
we're receiving the error Special character "_" in generic key when releasing a best practice transport.
Note 1304725 describes my error, but the solution cannot be implemented. The reason for this is that we do not have an individual entry for eacht yb_PS,..,
but we have only one entry where field BWERT has a wildcard '*' as entry.
Does anyone has some idea how to solve this ?
kind regards !Hello Bjorn,
How did you get this solved?
I'm having nearly the same issue:
A custom-table with a total key lenght of about 365 characters. As soon as I enter a special character (_) in the key field just before the position 120, the message tk287 rejects the entry. Entering the special character in a key field at about key position
