Is support for iMovie '08 still available?

Budget crunches where I teach have kept us from upgrading past iMovie '08. I relied on the Apple tutorials, but although the page is still there (http://www.apple.com/findouthow/movies/imovie08.html), the tutorials are not clickable. Has Apple really ditched its loyal but cash-poor education customers?

Answered my own question! Turns out Google Chrome does not play well with Apple's interface. Pages work fine in Firefox and Safari.

Is the Flex Component Kit for Flash Professional still available for download somewhere?
We are currently trying to get some old stuff done in Flash to port over to flex and convert a MovieClip made in Flash to an SWC/Flex component.
The link stated here at the bottom Flex Component Kit for Flash Professional (Adobe - Flex Downloads) does not work.

There isn't. But the CS3 kit works for CS4 too.

  • In support forum, signed in,where do I link to questions I've asked? Years back, could get RSS feed for question. Still available?

Where can I link to my questions from my account? Searching for username gives no results. Some years back, you could subscribe to an RSS feed for a question, yours or others. Is that gone, if so, why? How do you save the question, without saving the text of your question in a document, and copying and pasting it into search? FF version 19.0.2.
    Thanks.

The My Contributions link only appears if you are looking at a page of questions people have posted. It's a filter that doesn't apply to other pages, so I guess it's bit of a secret.

  • AVCHD support for iMovie yet?

I posted this in an old thread but not sure if anyone is looking there anymore so have re-done it here.
ok, now it's mid March. Any more news on whether there will be a software update that will let iMovie support AVCHD?
I've got footage here I can do nothing with.
I can't believe the Sony HDR-SR1 doesn't have a firewire port and only comes with Windoze software. I know the Mac market is small but surely there's still a huge number of people who bought the cam and now can't edit their footage?!
Sony, Apple, get it sorted! grrr.
PPC G5 Dual 1.8   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2 GB Ram ATI Radeon X800 XT

This hard drive camera records using MPEG-2. That is the same as most all of the new DVD cameras.
This format is for playback and is not intended to be used as an editing format.
You will need to convert that format into a DV format that imovie can use.
MPEG Streamclip http://www.alfanet.it/squared5/mpegstreamclip.html is free and Apple's QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
is about $20.00. They are the tools that you need to download to convert these files.
Once you do that...these are the steps I once copied from a DCR-SR100 user...(I have not done this myself, but I assume it is similar)
To transfer the data to the Mac:
1- Plug the USB cable, once detected , press HDD on the touch screen panel
2- Go to Finder (on the Mac) then open the videos folder /MP_ROOT/100PNV01/M2U0001.MPG for example
3- Drag the .MPG file to the mac
4- Start Streamclip (see message further up the discussion)
Export using for example .DV format, readable by iMovie.
5-Import the new file in imovie

  • Toast Platinum 8 No Support for iMovie "08

I just bought Toast 8 and when trying to preview, or import any projects I did in iMovie 08, I see "unsupported format".
I can however preview/import all older iMovie HD projects, all .mov files, all QT Movies.
Why does Toast only support importing of the iMovie 06?
I've just spent 2 weeks building projects to send for Xmas and now I can't even use the new Toast.
    Am I completely missing something?
    Confused and frustrated,
    Deb

iMovie 08 is different from iMovie 06 in several ways.
For one thing, iMovie 08 brings in your footage as an Event in the original format (unless the original format is compressed, in which case it is brought in as AIC). An iMovie 08 project holds pointers to the EVENT. The project does not get "rendered" into its final output format until you publish it or share it.
So in your case, I would recommend the following: Either share your project to iTunes, or to the Media Browser, or export to Quicktime.
Once you have done this, the resulting movie can be used by Toast.

  • IPhone store credit for earlier buyers --still available?

    Hi all,
First post here. I'm one of the earlier iPhone buyers this summer, and paid the whopping 600 bucks (that said, I'm happy with the phone). I remember Jobs issuing a store credit of 100 dollars and had been planning to use it. However, an Apple store employee told me today that it "expired, like, six weeks ago." ...Is this true? I have not heard of an expiration date. Though, I don't see where I can generate a coupon on the website. May anybody help guide me there? Thanks much! A.

    Hello,
I also have a question regarding the $100 Iphone rebate.
I had made my online submission for the rebate in September 2007 and received an "Apple Store credit access code". Now I want to use this code purchase the Leopard software. However, it seems like the code I received on my Iphone is not sufficient. I received a six digit code while the required information is a credit number and a pin. Does anyone know how to get the credit number and the pin by using the six digit access code I have.

  • Is Xcode 3.2(i think) for a ppc still available

I have a old ibook g4 (ppc) with osx 10.4.11 on, and i would really like to get in to the world of programing ..... so i figured this would be the best place to start. but i cannot afford to get a new intel based mac because in only 15, so is it possible to get iOS SDK 4.0.1 to work on a power pc or can someone tell me where to find xcode for a power pc ..... i don't care if i cannot publish my apps i just want to give it a go. cheers now ryan.

I'm actually in the same boat as 1gryan. I was recently given an old G5 PPC with Leopard from a friend. I was wondering if I could use it to develop iPhone games? I read that it's possible to install the SDK using some program called Pacifist or something. But that seemed to be the SDK for iOS 2.0. Sounds dated. Any ideas?

  • I'm loading up an old Mac Powerbook G4 and want to put Firefox on it. Can't find an archived version for this OS (using Tiger 10.4.1) - is a version of firefox for this Mac still available?

I just need a link to a download of Firefox to fit on this Mac Powerbook G4. I couldn't find any archived and the new Firefox 4 won't work on this Mac.

Yup, your question and Diane's answer helped me also. Tho' I had had problems before getting into the iTunes store I always managed to find a way. Today they had me blocked cold with the "Update to 10" advert no matter what I did. Other questioners are being told, incorrectly as it turns out, that they have to update their OS to accomodate iTunes 10 and upgrade to iTunes 10. I did the download which did not take up much more room on my crowded old hard drive and now I'm back in business.

  • Support for 6130

I am in the process of renewing Oracle “Support for Systems”. I have three items that according to:
Oracle Lifetime Support Policy: Oracle Hardware and Operating Systems (February, 2012) [http://www.oracle.com/us/support/library/lifetime-support-hardware-os-337182.pdf]
Sustaining support is “Not Available” and for each of these Premier Support ends before the end of this year.
    The items are:
    1. SE6130
    2. CSM100
    3. SF V20z
When I asked my Oracle Support Services person to remove these items as Oracle will not support them for the duration of the renewal period, she responded that Oracle had recently dropped the “end date” and is offering support indefinitely. I, of course, requested supporting documentation – she did not have any handy and is “looking” for something that can be shared with the customer.
Anyone have any details on hardware support beyond the dates in the above policy?
How/where can I “get the facts” on this issue?
If my employer renews this contract, will Oracle honor it even after Premier Support ends?
    Thanks,
    GlenG

    Sw,
At this point I take it that hardware that is not listed is supported.
Take a look at http://www.oracle.com/us/support/library/hardware-systems-support-policies-069182.pdf Near the bottom of page 5 it reads:
"Right to End of Service Life
It may become necessary (i) as a part of Oracle’s product lifecycle or (ii) if a vendor retires support for its product or the relationship with the vendor is terminated, to announce an End of Service Life date for a hardware system and, therefore, Oracle reserves that right. Oracle will use commercially reasonable efforts to provide twelve (12) months advance notice of End of Service Life. End of Service Life information is available on My Oracle Support. End of Service Life information is subject to change."
I "think" the link I posted is the "End of Service Life information is available on My Oracle Support". It's kind of a trick to find it from the MOS but it can be done.
Near the top of that same page (5) it reads:
"When offered, Oracle Premier Support for Systems will be available for a minimum of five years from the last ship date of the hardware system."
I think the second document you list is useful for determining the "minimum of five years from the last ship date".
As I understand it Oracle is expected to stop selling the 6000 series storage arrays sometime soon. I would guess that most/all of them will get just the "5 years" of support but it looks like servers may get some years beyond the 5 years.
    I'm not a lawyer, just a customer ...
    have a good day,
    GlenG

  • Sun Ray Software Support for OpenSolaris

Hello. I'd like to know, when the SRSS support for OpenSolaris will be available. There is not enough fresh desktop software for Solaris 10 (even blastwave's gnome and kde are too old). Nowadays we have two quite old Solaris 10 terminal servers and we'd like to move them to our new IBM blades. As I understand there are two choices: use Linux and fresh soft or Solaris 10 and old soft. We'd like to use Solaris 11, but SRSS doesn't support it. It seems that we need to switch to Linux. Could we hope that OpenSolaris support will appear in SRSS in a half a year?

It's hard to see how there could ever be formal support for SRSS on any operating system that is as volatile as OpenSolaris. (I'm assuming you mean the distribution named OpenSolaris, originally Project Indiana. If you mean any arbitrary distribution derived from the OpenSolaris source base then that's even less likely.) I can imagine that SRSS might get repackaged or even relicensed in order to make it easier for people to run it on OpenSolaris, but I can't see Sun signing up to provide the traditional multi-year patch-based support program that SRSS has on its current platforms.
Nevada would be a more plausible candidate for some sort of support commitment. Even there it wouldn't be the traditional model, because Nevada is an unreleased snapshot of Solaris.next in the process of being created and it doesn't have the stability guarantees that a finished Solaris release has. Lots of people inside Sun, and quite a few outside Sun, run SRSS on Nevada. According to hearsay that combinatin has been pretty dependable but that's not a good enough foundation for the kind of guarantee that the formal Sun support model offers.
If I was looking for a shinier newer desktop for my Sun Rays I'd run Nevada. I'd pick a release, test it as hard as I could, then stick with it for at least a few months before doing a Live Upgrade to a later release. And I'd keep an S10 machine (or boot environment) around so that if I encounter problems on the Nevada systems I can try to reproduce it on S10, so that I could open support calls against the S10 system. It's not bulletproof -- Nevada may have problems that don't show up on S10 -- but it's at least some sort of safety net. I'd also be sure to subscribe to the sunray-users mailing list at filibeto.org in the hope that that would get me advance warning of Nevada issues, and maybe help with workarounds for issues if any crop up.

  • Is Leopard still available?

I want to download Leopard for my Macbook, but all I see is a placeholder for Snow Leopard. Can I still download Leopard somewhere?

Just to complete the circle regarding your question:
The install disk for Leopard is still available at retail outlets. I know Amazon.com had them when I checked recently. ($99)
Additionally, for some it may be worth considering the Mac Box Set which was announced by Apple last January. It too is still available from retailers - currently at substantial discount. The Mac Box Set includes the 10.5 install disk plus iLife 09 and iWork 09 - original retail was $169 but I've seen prices as low as $119 (plus tax & shipping).
I noticed that Amazon sold out of Mac Box Set as soon as they announced their discount price of $133. I interpret this to mean that Mac owners are moving to prepare for Snow Leopard by installing 10.5 - and that means the install disk(s) may get harder to find as we approach the September release of 10.6.
Also, it would seem wise to install 10.5 "very soon" since there are only about 8 weeks before 10.6 arrives - the GUI and features of both is supposed to be similar and it takes time to get acquainted with each new major point release.

I'm running LR 4.4.  Just picked up a Sony RX100 M3 cam. It's RAW files are not supported within my version. Is there a free update still available for my version or do I need to purchase an upgrade to LR 5?

Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
The Sony RX100 III was first supported in Lightroom 5.5.
There will be no updates for older versions.
    So your choices:
    Upgrade to Lightroom 5, or
Download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all Raw files from the RX100 III to DNG format then edit the DNGs in Lightroom 4.4
