Is Sync always "symetric"?

In other words, is it possible to share only passwords on one computer while sharing passwords and bookmarks on the other sync'd machines? On a related note, can computer become the "master" that "pushes out" its settings to the others?

I'm afraid you're asking in the wrong forum. iSync has nothing to do with syncing keychains or syncing anything between two or more Macs.
You're referring to MobileMe Sync so you'd be better off posting in one of the relevant MobileMe forums.

Every time I try to add add'l pix, it has to remove all existing and re-sync (always use same computer)

Each time I want to add more pictures to my library, it deletes all existing and re-loads (during syncing). I always use the same computer, never plugged my ipad into any other computer. I also get error messages sometimes when I am trying to download new songs (via computer) and it has given me an error message saying that the computer is not the 'designated' computer (but it is and always has been.).

Holy Smoke!!! ...and it was JUST that easy.

Your CC client (mac) get's stuck syncing (always sync icon but nothing syncing)? Temp solution!

I've been having some troubles lately with my CC client on Mac (using Yosemite + Macbook Pro 15 Retina), all under latest versions.
So, suddenly one day I was working and I figured out that my CC taskbar icon displayed always the blue arrows from syncing... I did looked into it and it didn't said "syncing X of X files..." but just "syncing" and nothing happened on both local or website cloud folders... I was starting to be angry when I saw it never ended for few days, and I thought it may be also consuming resources as it seems to be sending/receiving data constantly, but it's not doing anything really, new files won't sync by just placing them at the folder... it got completely cracked.
After looking into few posts, and having a depth look into requirements and file limits and overall, saw my files weren't the issue as they're well named and all of them under the file size limit, because I use Extract a lot and it has a layer limit as well...
Those steps helped solving the issue:
- Do a backup of your most recent files (web or local, in my case was local folder, so I just copied content in another folder outside CC folder).
- Once done, open CC client, go to the settings menu, and choose "preferences".
- Go to "files" tab and deactivate file syncing. Icon will stop displaying the blue arrows.
- Now go to your CC local folder and remove everything inside, same on website and important, remove all files definitely. Otherwise they will end up in your "Archived" folder.
- Once everything removed from both local and app cloud (and insist, definitely!, you should see nothing on any category on the website), activate syncing under "files" tab again.
- Nothing should happen as there are no files to sync on both ways (Local - Cloud), that's fine.
- Now, copy again all your content from your backup folder to your CC folder.
- Blue arrows will appear again, but you can see now it's really syncing files and not just doing anything as before. Let it upload everything again (may take it's time depending on the whole size).
- After every file is synced back again, you should see all files on both local and browser again and it should sync properly again, so it should stop once a file has been uploaded/replaced.
Keep in mind there's an issue on this solution, if you had created public links before, you should create them again as we removed everything completely before. It's a mess, but it's worth it rather than having your app not syncing at all.

If it's the last sentence that you have a problem with, it seems to me that you missed the smiley at the end. Your post was very long and confusing. Sync always fails on Aurora on Android, but set up works fine

I have had Aurora on my desktop for a long time, with Sync set up and working.
I recently got a new phone and decided to install Firefox for Android. I first installed Firefox Beta, but then decided to switch to Aurora (to match my desktop), after removing the beta and restarting the phone.
I am able to set up Sync successfully, but it never manages to actually perform an actual sync operation. It ''always'' says 'Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly'. My desktop Aurora is unaffected.
Additionally, when I check my Sync account on the management site (account.services.mozilla.com), some of the options are broken: Clear your Sync data and Request a quota increase give me dinosaur-treadmill-escape errors with IDs like 7269f5afb481c69cfd5b3d66fc623401

I only have one copy of Firefox installed, Aurora.
I originally installed Beta, but removed it completely before installing Aurora. Sync failed with the Beta, which was part of the reason for switching to Aurora match my desktop set up (in case that helped).
I've set up and removed Sync accounts, and updated Aurora several times - but with no change in Sync's failures.
Today, I removed Aurora again, restarted the phone and reinstalled it. Set up Sync again. It *still* fails. Sync sets up fine, but the actual sync operation never successfully completes.

File sync always delayed

Hi, I have a 2TB My Cloud device and various Android devices running the My Cloud App. I have the app set to auto-sync every 120mins however when accessed via the app my files are always older versions, often by a couple of months. The time stamp suggests sync has occured but when I open the file it is clearly an older version. No other error messages or obvious issues. Any ideas? ThanksStuart

If you still have a copy of iMovie HD 6 I suggest you use that to add the music to the slideshow. Create the slideshow without music, import it into iMovie HD 6, and add your audio tracks where you can trim, fade in/out, and have precise placement.

Restarts every 33minutes , speed fine, sync always...

I'm not at all happy
HH5 on a nice short clean lean. Syncs every time at 79.xx/19.xx Mbps
yesterday, it started a continuous scyle of restarts every 30-35 minutes, the restarts take a few minutes to do so the end result is about 30 minutes of working connection then everything drops again.
After my previous encounters with the call centre I'm not going to even bother ringing them

Sync always resyncs same songs

I use a 4g iPod Touch with 5.1 software, and everytime I sync it, the same 24 songs (all from the same artist) are always resynced, even if I sync it seconds later without playing any of the songs on either device. I tried deleting the songs off my iPod and reinstating them, but the problem persisted. Any ideas on what would cause this bizzare problem?

I have quite a few iPods and only one of my 7th generation video iPods exhibits this behavior. The other 7th and my 5th behave. My issue is the same as the above people and the issue has gone on since 2007 is what I can tell. I have 176 songs that resynch every *other* time. If I resynch a couple of times in short intervals then it only resynchs the 176 songs on the first time.
It is annoying, but I won't switch to anything because my car and home are all wired to these guys for audio. Help!

Sync always fails on one computer

Sync fails 100% of the time on my Windows 7 SP1 laptop. Can anyone help me get it to work?
I have tried resetting my sync info, changing my key, uninstalling/reinstalling Firefox, and nothing helps. Sync works on my WinXP machine and on Firefox Home on my iPhone 3G with iOS 4.2.1.
I am currently on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0.1.

Checking back in a week after my original post... I see 8 others have the same problem. Do any of you have ''any'' clue at all what the problem is?

Sync always fails to connect to server with no reason

On two of my computers (both Macs running 10.6.7, one a MacBook Air and one an older iMac), Sync fails, saying "failed to connect to server"
When I try again (and again, and again...) it results in the same message. It has synced successfully in the past, but has not in more than a week.
I can't figure out how to get it to sync or even how to get more information about the issue.
Any help, ideas or suggestions - including questions clarifying or detailing the issue - are welcome.

If Oracle reports error about Net8 configuration, that means -
you're trying to use "thick" JDBC driver, though usual way
is to use "thin" driver instead. You have to make corrections
in your connect url like:
"jdbc:oracle:thin:@<host>:<port>:<sid>"

Blackberry Media Sync always crashes

My 8310 is running the most current Blackberry software.
I am on the most current version of Desktop Manager.
I downloaded and installed Blackberry Media Sync.
Application Event Log shows a successful install.
Every time I select Blackberry Media Sync from Desktop Manager, it fails with "an application error has occurred. would you like to inform MS, etc..."
Here's what the Application Event Log error entry shows.
Faulting application blackberry music sync.exe, version 1.1.0.24, stamp 49411411, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.5512, stamp 4802a12c, debug? 0, fault address 0x00012aeb.
Any ideas?

Same problem with my Bold 9700

Using wifi sync always opens iTunes when leaving standby

I've successfully setup sync over wifi, but am finding one aspect a bit annoying.
If my phone is charging and connected to the wireless, and my computer has gone into standby, when I wake the computer up, the first thing that happens is iTunes opens and tries to sync with my phone. I assume the same thing would happen coming out of hibernate or when turning the computer on.
I would either like to turn off the "automatic" aspect of syncing (so that I have to initiate a sync either from the phone or from iTunes) or make it so it only automatically syncs if iTunes is already open or is opened by my manually. Basically, I don't want iTunes opening unless I tell it to.
But, no matter how I adjust my settings, only one of two things happens: (1) it behaves the way I described above, or (2) wifi syncing is completely disabled, meaning I can only sync by connecting over a wire.
Any suggestions?

I had done all of it but I did restart the PC and the IPad just to make sure I had not missed anything. ITunes simply does not launch when the IPad is connected to power. The Sync Now remains greyed out if ITunes is not running. I know ITunes can see the IPad because when I launch it, it does come up with the IPad icon on the left menu. The IPad also shows the correct computer name to connect to. Everything works fine but it requires I manually launch ITunes.
I know the Apple instructions indicate this is necessary but I have seen postings here and else where where people claim it will launch automatically and that they can initiate ITunes launch and sync wirelessly without being plugged in. I was hoping to see if others are having this problem or if Apple knows of a bug in how it works. Thanks for your help, perhaps someone knows how to fix this.
If I could somehow start ITunes automatically that would also help. I usually do all my syncs, backups, etc at night. If I could plug in the IPad and then have ITunes launch itself some time at night, it would probably sync and in the morning I would be good to go.

Sync always sees calendar entries as "modified"

I have two computers that use dot-Mac to keep calendars (and everything else) in sync. For the past year or so, the two computers have been swapping turns seeing all recent calendar entries as "modified" when they sync with dot-Mac. This is hard to explain clearly, but I'll give it a shot.. One is a Mac Mini which is on all the time, and the other is a Macbook Pro (this also happened with my previous powerbook) which is on sometimes, and sleeping other times.
The issue goes like this:
1) Mac Mini syncs its calendar entries with dot-Mac. All is good.
2) If the MBP is turned on, it tries to sync and sees a large percentage of modified calendar entries; it asks for confirmation before completing the sync.
3) Without having touched any calendar entries on the MBP, the next time the Mini goes to sync it sees the same large number of modified entries and asks for confirmation before completing the sync.
If the MBP is left asleep, then when the Mini syncs it doesn't see any modifications and all is well. Likewise, if I turn off the Mini and ask the MBP to sync a few times, it sees no new modifications.
Both machines are fully up to date (as far as Software Update tells me).
I've tried doing things like completely blanking a machine and priming it with data from dot-Mac, and overwriting the dot-Mac database with the data from one machine or the other. Nothing I've though of so far has worked to clear this up.
Is anyone else seeing anything like this? Anyone have any suggestions?
