Is Sync of entire catallog needed to share an album

I am a desktop photoshop elements user for many years.  I just tried for the first time to upload a small album of photos from a recent event to photoshop.com.    When I complete the Share steps for the album, it appears to be trying to backup my entire catalog (25.5 gb) to photoshop.com, where I only have 2gb of space available.
Is a complete catalog backup needed before I can share a small album on photshop.com?
Thanks,
Skip

you can use shared photostream albums. May need to update to ios 6. Other people can share their albums with you and whoever they want. basically works the way you want, just other people have to get involved. But with app they would have to get involved as well. Will they?

In other words, no. You don't need another iTunes Library for your new iPod
Another iTunes Library, that's only if someone elses music is mixed in with yours and you want to create another Windows user account with their music in it.
The iTunes Library is the master vault containing all your content, from there you create playlists or smart playlists specially tailored for the smaller iPod's storage requirements.
For instance if the iPod can hold only 2,000 songs, then you create a smart playlist based upon those rules/limitation. Plus what type of music you like.
You have a incredible degree of control with smart playlists, they update automatically so you only set the conditions for what goes into them. Including content from other created playlists and smart playlists.
Then, when you hook up the smaller iPod, it has it's own sync options, "all of your music and playlists" or "only select playlists"  So you use the second option to select just the smart playlist you tailored for the new iPod.
When you hook up the iPod Classic, only it's sync options are used, not the new iPod ones.
I hope I explained it better this time.

  • Why do two iPods need to share the same library? Is there any way I can change it?

I owe one iPod and brought another today, and I just set up the other one. They're both the same model - iPod touch 8GB - and I've set the second one up. I've had the first one for some time, about an year, and I only bought another for a family member. I was wondering why do we need to share the same library and how can we change it. Help would be welcomed since we really like different kind of genres and we disagree on them, so we really really want to change this. I can't even say how much we need to change the setting. Thank you!

Sherlocked, There are a few ways you can solve that problem.
If you do want to share the same library, use the capabililty to "Sync Selected Playlists," so that each iPod will only get the music that its owner wants.
Alternatively, you can set up two separate libraries.  This is easiest if you use two different Windows user IDs on the computer.  Then each iPod owner can sync to his own library.

  • Help! why can't i sync my entire photo album onto my phone?

I used to sync my entire photos in iphoto onto my iphone 3. Now that i have changed to iphone 4, it can only sync some of my photos.
IT says, ' It says: "Some of your photos, including the photo “DSC04441.JPG”, were not copied to the iPhone “adeleheng’s iPhone” because they cannot be displayed on your iPhone.''

I had this same problem and was able to resolve it using the following steps.  I don't know if you need to do all of them, but this is what I did that works.  I have Windows 7 (64 bit) and an iPhone 4.  I hope that these work for you!
    (1) Disconnent iPhone from computer
    (2) In the Sync options in iTunes uncheck sync photos
    (3) Close iTunes
    (4) Go to your file manager (for Windows it is Windows Explorer) and go to all of the folders where you have tried to sync photos from.  There will be iPhone (or i something) Cache.  Delete these folders.  All of them that you can find.
    (5) Re-launch iTunes and connect your iPhone
    (6) In iTunes go to the Sync options and reselect photos (or the specific folders)
    (7) Click "Apply"
    (8) When it asks if you want to remove all of the photos that are currently on your phone (it won't touch your camera roll) say yes
    (9) Resync and all photos should be there

I need to share one of my calendars with a co-worker.  There is no publish option.

Only 'On My Mac' calendars can be published to a web page, but calendars listed under your MobileMe login name for syncing can be shared privately (editable if required) with other MobileMe subscribers, or publicly (non-editable) for general access using a CalDAV client such as iCal or Google Calendar.

  • Everytime I sync, my entire library erases... HELP!

Everytime I purchase something new from the itunes store and go to add it to my itouch, it only adds the new item, then erases my entire library. I recently purchased a tv show and when I went to sync my Itouch, I got a notice saying it would erase everything else to add this one show. I get this message everytime I use itunes. How can I add new music and shows without having to re-sync my entire library everytime????
    PLEASE HELP!!!

You are using iTunes to place your songs on your iPod, yes?
You can have your library of music on any drive you wish. You just need to point iTunes to that new location in the Preferences.

  • 160 GB IPod will not sync my entire library

I own a 160 GB IPod Classic and it's been acting fine up until a few weeks ago. My total music/video library is 6621 songs, 32 music videos, 2 TV Shows, 14 movies which brings it as overall total of 6669 items in my library. I attempted to sync my IPod with newer songs that I recently purchased from Itunes and it would not sync, it actually told me that it did not recognize my IPod.
So, I ejected my IPod and reset the IPod. The music on it was totally erased and my IPod was empty. I then restarted my computer. I plugged it back up using a different USB port to resync. Once it got up to 4,170 or 30 GB of my library, it froze. I had to manually eject it. I did the Restore option on my IPod putting newer version software on it and it's still acting buggy.
My husband has an 80 GB IPod Classic and his syncs my entire library just fine without any problem. I can no longer listen to my IPod because it will not sync to my current library. It's no longer under product warranty because I purchased it back in 2009 so I just need to know if this can be resolved w/o me having to have it repaired at a high cost.
    Please HELP ME

The most likely problem is a damaged source file, but you could try this technique for populating the iPod in stages.
    *Break up large transfers*
In iTunes select the menu item *File... New Smart Playlist*. Change the first drop-down box to Playlist, the next to is and the next to Music. Tick against *Limit to*, type in say 10, then change the drop-down to GB, and set the last drop-down to artist. When you click OK you can enter a name for the playlist, e.g. Transfer. Now sync this playlist to your iPod rather than your entire library. When the sync is complete modify the rule ( *File... Edit playlist* ) to increase the size by your chosen amount, then sync and repeat. You can experiment with different size increments, if it doesn't work just choose something a bit smaller until it works each time. Before long you should have all your music on your iPod. Once that's done you can move on to other media such as podcasts, videos, photos, playlists etc.

Try removing and then reinstalling the Apple software using these instructions.
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
The above containes a link for XP. Also. make sure you install the correct Apple software, It comes in 32 and 64 bit and you need the one that is the same as the computer OS

I have forgotten my password for iPod Touch 4G and it is now disabled. I tried connecting to iTunes but i haven't synced before and i need to enter the password before i can back it up so i can restore it. I don't want to lose pictures so please HELP!

    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased. That is how it works
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

My assistant and I are using two Lightrooms (i.e. two serial numbers) and need to share between our two computers. I provide originals to her onto a flash drive. She tags them and returns them to me. I then copy the photos from her flash drive onto my computer and load them in my LR. The photos appear but witthout any editing or tagging. We need to be able to have her working on the photos on her computer with her copy of LR and me on my computer with my version of LR being able to access what is already tagged and given back to me. This seems hard. We need advice on if it is at all possible to have two computers simultaneously working on LR . I bought her her own version because I was told at the time of purchasing that that was the only way to share. Please advise urgently! Thanks.

Sounds like your assistant isn't instructing Lightroom to write the tagging and editing to the files themselves, so wehn the files return to you, they don't have editing and tagging information. She need to select the photos in Lightroom and then Ctrl-S (Cmd-S on Mac). Or alternatively turn on the option to autmoatically write this information to the files.
If you are using RAW photos, then this information will be written to a sidecar XMP file, and your assistant must provide you with the sidecar file. If these photos are not RAW photos, then the information is written directly into the photo file itself.
Lightroom wasn't designed to be a multi-user program, and so it is truly not possible to have two people working on the same catalog at once. The way you are doing things, as modified above, is probably the way to go.
As an alternative, you can transfer (portions of) catalogs as well as photos back and forth and then all of these issues disappear, but a catalog might be rather large for a flash drive (or maybe not, it depends)

  • My boss needs to share his calendar with me. How can we do it without buying more hardware?

So my boss has tons of mac stuff, iPhone, macbook, iPad, etc and he has dozens of calendars all synchronized between them with iCloud. He needs to share them with me.
I signed up for an iCloud account, but it says:
"To sign in with this account, use it to set up iCloud on a device."
"To set up iCloud, go to iOS 5 Settings or OS X Lion System Preferences"
D'oh! I don't have an OSX or iOS 5 device, just an iOS 4 iTouch!  Is there a way for my boss to share his apple iCloud calendar with me on my PC (Windows 7) or my iTouch?
I usually use Google Calendar, and it's so easy to share with anybody, I expected mac to be even easier. Shouldn't a cloud based service have cloud based sharing, e.g. log onto a website and see the calendar?

You either have an incredibly complex computer setup or I think you are confusing terminology here.  If you have iTunes set to share your library with others in your iTunes preferences then other computers in the area will see it as an item when they are running their iTunes and have it set to check for shared libraries.  Your husband is probably seeing this when running iTunes on his computer.  You can disable this sharing on your computer and/or he can set his not to pick up shared libraries.
By the way, an iTunes account is something you log into when you want to buy something from Apple.  On your computer it is simply your iTunes collection or your iTunes application.  So you need to turn off sharing in your iTunes application preferences.
Your husband is seeing "his" iTunes collection when running iTunes, but it is possible he doesn't have anything in it if it is a brand new computer.

  • Need To Share XP Virtual machine on Macbook Pro in Fusion

I have an XP Virtual machine that I need to share on our Macbook Pro. The problem is that even if I create it in shared folders, I can't share it with anyone but the user who created it. I've discovered that when I check the permssions, there is a "ghost" user called "Staff" and I can't change any of the permissions for "Staff".
I would appreciate any assistance that anyone can provide. As I'm in the early stages of building the VM, I can delete and recreate if necessary.

    Vincentjuhhh wrote:
How much RAM do I need to run a virtual machine and also have a fast macbook pro that opens applications in 1 second?
That's like asking how many horsepower you need to go from 0-60 in under 6 seconds.  If the vehicle you're driving (the virtual machine) is a Mack Truck pulling 15 Tons of steel, you need quite a few more horses than if you're talking about a F1 race car with a carbon fiber body.
This isn't a question that can be answered based on the information you've provided.
Reduce the resources allocated to the VM and see if performance of your Mac apps improves to an acceptable level.
Given the price of RAM these days, there's virtually no reason not to increase the amount of RAM you have to the maximum your computer will support.

All the info you do with your image files is stored in the Lightroom Catalog file. The Catalog file cannot be located on a network it must have a physical connection to the computer.
While the Catalog is in use a LOCK file will be temporarily placed alongside which prevents its use by any other device.
