Is that possible InDesign CS4

Hi all,
Is that possible when export indesign cs4 files in word format (only export text, graphic) as it is as same in indesign cs4 page layout (page to page) in word document.
thank you for any suggestion/script

snegig

No. Careful reading of how the export to Word works should tell you that. You don't export pages, you export a single continuous story.
Besides, expecting the very same layout, page by page, is extremely optimistic at any rate. InDesign's formatting is a lot different from that of Word.

  • Can I repair the ntdll.dll fault that prevents InDesign CS4 from opening in Windows 7?

I am running Windows 7, all updates installed, and CS4, updated to 6.0.6.622. This problem does not affect any other app in CS4. Starting yesterday, InDesign would crash as soon as I opened a document. Then it would crash before I could open a document. Now it crashes once the small pink splash screen displays. The Windows detail is this:
The same behavior occurs with with my machine in Safe mode.
I have not added any fonts.
I attempted the manual "trash preferences" procedure found on this site.
I attempted the "default printer" solution.
I already rolled back my system to October 13 (my earliest possible restore point) and then reinstalled InDesign, then when the problem persisted installed the 6.0.6 patch again. So rolling back from the update is not a solution. Would uninstalling inDesign before reinstalling be required?
This department (3 users) got new laptops witn Windows 7 and CS4 in January, and I am the only one experiencing this. I know I am current on all updates, but I can't speak for everyone else. Perhaps I am too up-to-date.
My IT dept thinks the standard solution of re-imaging the hard drive is required, but that takes a day and then another two to reinstall/re-register/reconfigure all my apps. I have work to do!
I sure hope someone else has solved this already; I have spent a lot of time searching for a clue. Thanks all, in advance.

I just tried the Recovery Folder solution, where you delete the contents of the folder. This sounded promising, because the first time ID crashed, a document was open. When I launched ID again, the doc was recovered. I closed it without saving changes, after which ID crashed. After that point, ID never got beyond the splash screen. There were two items in the folder (see screenshot), but alas, no joy.
Thanks Peter for the cleanup - I had not spent any time reading the forum how-to (and I write user docs).

  • [InDesign CS4] - Spell() function does not get called in CHLinguistic Sample

    Hi,
I am investigating CHLinguistic Sample plug-in on Windows InDesign CS4. I noted that in InDesign CS4 a new function is added FindError.
I always get call to function FindError() but I don't get calls to other functions like Spell(), IsCorrectGrammer().
Has Adobe changed something in InDesign CS4.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi Marko,
I have SDK Build Verison 352 September 2008. With this SDK it has CHLinguistic sample. It has the following info in readme file under Known Issues -
The CHLinguistic sample does not dynamically redraw misspelled
words after adding them to the user dictionary.
I have the old SDK. You have SDK Build Version 352 October 2008, so you must be correct.
I will download the latest SDK and post my results on the forum.

  • Upgrade from InDesign Mac to InDesign CS4 Windows, Is this possible?

Hi all, I have Indesign CS2 Mac, now I am switching to Windows platform and i want to upgrade to Indesign CS4 Window. Is this possible from my copy and  serial number of InDesign CS2 Mac.

    MWHebert wrote:
You had better hurry, as when CS5 comes out (sometime in April or early May) there is a very short grace period to do this. I found out the hard way and was too late and had no other choice than to pay to get CS4.
It's not certain when InDesign CS5 might be released, until Adobe makes a formal announcement. You might want to discuss with an Adobe customer service SUPERVISOR whether you can make the cross-grade after CS5 is formally announced (not released, just announced), and also ask the SUPERVISOR whether your purchase of the cross-grade after the announcement will qualify for a free upgrade to CS5.
Sometimes policies change, but, I believe that there's a period after announcement of a new release, before it's shipping, that by purchasing the outgoing release, you get a free upgrade to the announced release. I think there's a charge for a boxed product, but not for the downloaded product.
I'm suggesting SUPERVISOR, because information of this kind often isn't made completely clear to regular customer-support folks. If a supervisor can't give you certain info, ask for the supervisor's MANAGER. Get the name of the person who gives you the info, so you have someone to work with if a problem arises.
Buying an expiring product in the brief period between announcement of the next release and its actual shipping date, usually results in such a free upgrade. It's important for you to get accurate information about whether upgrading a product in this period works the same way..

  • Is it possible to have Indesign CS4 and CS5.5 both installed on the same Mac? 10.6.8

We have a bunch of recent Intel macs at our corporation.  Currently they should all have 10.6.8.  They were all imaged from a base image that has Adobe CS4 embedded in it.
We are now using a packaging software part of the JAMF Casper suite and AAMIE to push CS5.5 to the end users.
The problem is that we want to keep CS4 on the end user's computers in case of issues.  That way the end users can try Indesign 5.5 and see if it does everything they need to do and still have Indesign for backwards compatiblity.
So we created a CS5.5 install package using the AAMIE tool which works fine.  We then use Casper to spam the package out to a Mac.
The issue that arises is that a few Plugin errors occur during the lauch of Indesign CS5.5 such as:
Adobe inDesign does not recognize InCopy Bridge UI.InDesignPlugin as a valid plug-in.
Adobe InDesign does not recognize InCopyExport.InDesignPlugin as a valid plug-in.
Adobe InDesign does not recognize InCopyExportUI.InDesignPlugin as a valid plug-in.
Adobe InDesign does not recognize InCopyImport.InDesignPlugin as a valid plug-in.
There was one more plugin error that occured before the first one but I forgot to write it down.
If we click okay to them, the application launches okay but when you quit and relaunch it, you still get one of the errors.
Is this because both applications are installed at the same time?
Is it offically okay as per Adobe to have Indesign CS4 and CS5.5 installed on the same Macintosh?
What else should we be considering what to do?

Well currently, I'm just testing this issue.  I just installed the trial version of  Adobe CS4 suite on my mac and then deployed the CS5.5 package on top off it  The resulting errors that I listed above are the same ones that occur when the end user has a licensed volume license install of CS4 and CS5.5.
So I'm still back to square 1 where when I deploy cs5.5 on an  end user's mac, they get those plugin errors when they launch Indesign CS5.5.
I am not sure about the licensing restrictions, I asked my Director and he is going to check with our VAR.

  • Linking to a folder in InDesign - is that possible?

I need to link to a folder in InDesign - is that possible? I can only find options to link to files. It would be cool if it was also possible to have the folder open up.
(the case in question is a link to a folder containing photos - I do not want to link to any specific photo, but the whole folder, so the user can choose which photo to open up.)

I have a menu in my InDesign document (that will later be a PDF) with the text “A photos” and “B photos”. Clicking on eg. “A photos” should open op a folder containing all my A photos. I do not want to specify any particular photo, but the user should be able to be directed to the folder and choose which photo to open.
I hope this explanation is sufficient.

  • Opening InDesign 2.0 document in InDesign CS4 - is it possible?

Someone sent me an InDesign 2.0 document and I cannot open it using InDesign CS4, which is the version I have. The error message I get reads: "Cannot open [filename]. The document was edited by a pre-release version of InDesign."
Is there any way to open these documents?
    Thank you.

    No.
This is not a Version 2/Version 6 (your version) issue. The user had a prerelease version of InDesign which saved in a format incompatible with the release version, as a form of copy protection for beta users. If the person providing the file was a legitimate user of the prerelease version of InDesign 2, then they might be able to contact Adobe to solve this problem, but I highly doubt it.
Anyone who would have been a legitimate user of a prerelease version of InDesign is not likely to never have upgraded in over six years. The supplier of the file is likely a severe cheapskate using a bootleg copy.
Your best option may be to ask for a PDF and a packaged copy (with all linked files), then use that as a template to recreate the file.

  • Missing fonts in InDesign CS4 - even when 'open' in Suitcase Fusion 3

Hi all, I'm running InDesign CS4 on a Intel Mac Pro (tower), about 4 years old, running OSX Snow Leopard (all updates applied).
Using Suitcase Fusion V3 for font management.
I have a document that previously had no font issues at all.  Now when I open it InDesign throws up a 'Missing font' error.
I have the correct fonts installed and 'open' in Suitcase Fusion.
The font is available in Simpletext and Pages, but not InDesign and Illustrator.
The troublesome font was OK the other day and has been since it was installed.
I've not changed anything that I'm aware of... but now InDesign won't 'see' the font.
In the 'Find Font' dialogue box the 'Path' says it's 'Unkown or missing'.
InDesign can see the other weights in the font family (bold, italic etc) but not regular.  And yet the entire font family is in the same folder on my hard drive.
I've tried deleting all the' Adobe.lst' files.  No Joy.
I've run Font Doctor on the whole font family, its says it's OK.
    I've tried re-installing the font from a back-up.  Nada.
If anyone has any suggestions..... feel free to let rip!
As ever, I await your expertise and unstinting knowledge in these matters   And, needless to say, I'll be mighty appreciative for it!
    RP

Hi Bob, strangely... I've put the troublesome font, Dax (T1) Regular, in the Applications/Adobe InDesign CS4/Fonts folder and it seems to be working.
Never had to do that before.
Would be great to get back to 'normal'.  If possible.
Although I have many duplicates spread across back-up drives and collected artwork folders, I've also tried to eliminate any duplicate 'open' versions.  But the above solution is the only one that works at the moment.
    RP
p.s. I also tried removing any AdobeFNT**.lst files, (where ** is a number) before the above work around.  That didn't work either.

  • How I fixed the missing shortcuts in InDesign CS4

Today, I got hit by the 'missing shortcut' syndrome on my Windows install of InDesign CS4 - all menu items were totally void of any shortcut. Even cut, copy, paste had no more shortcut keys - Ctrl-X, Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V didn't do a thing.
I tried fixing it via the Edit - Keyboard Shortcuts... menu, but there I could not even see a set name, and there was nothing I could do.
Ok, tried resetting the preferences - no joy.
Ok, tried wiping the 'Version 6.0' folders from the hidden folders where preferences were stored - no joy.
I got out some diagnostic tools, and noticed InDesign was trying (and failing) to access a folder called
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS4\Presets\InDesign Shortcut Sets\en_US
I checked it out - I did not have a folder called en_US in
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS4\Presets\InDesign Shortcut Sets
but I did have a folder called en_GB
    Hmmm....
I opened an Explorer window into the InDesign Shortcut Sets folder, and I made a copy of the folder en_GB and renamed it to en_US.
Relaunch InDesign and bingo - all is well!
Looks like InDesign is getting confused between British and US English - probably it got installed as British English, then decided it rather be US English. Why that'd be - no idea.
So, here's what you can try if your shortcut keys suddenly disappear on you:
    1) Navigate to the Adobe InDesign CS4 folder
    2) Go into the Presets folder
    3) Go into the InDesign Shortcut Sets folder
    4) If you see a folder called 'en_GB', but no folder called 'en_US', make a copy of the en_GB and rename the copy to en_US. Possibly the reverse could also happen - you see en_US, you might want to try and copy it to en_GB.
    Hope that helps!
    Cheers,
    Kris

    Thanks for responding.
I had all the Symptoms you list and Kris's solution sorted them out. (It's well worth keeping a backup of those folders.)
However, I found I still had problems that may or may not be related (sorry if this is off topic). Most notably "Registration…",  "Deactivate…" and "Updates…"  buttons greyed out in InDesign, Photoshop etc. and from Task Manager I noticed that the processes would not stop when you quit these programs. Also Distiller refused to start.
After wasting further time I made a few complaints and was finally allocated a tech person in Adobe support who was actually very helpful. By remote control he deleted the hidden file adobe_00080000_tsf data from the hidden folder C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet. We then started InDesign and I had to enter my Serial No. and register again.
This pretty well fixed the other problems above for a day or two then I started getting "Unable to find "Adobe PDF" resource files." This was fixed by another helpful tech person in Adobe support who, by remote control had a poke around in the <C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe \Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\AMT> folder and surprisingly everything started to work properly again. I don't think he even moved or deleted anything but the whole suite has been trouble free for over a week now.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Using CS2 script in Indesign CS4

    Hello,
I am very sorry if this point has been already treated but I have not yet found the solution.
I have Applescripts running on CS2, and I would like that these scripts could work either under CS2 and CS4 without any change
I know there is a possibility of choosing the version but I can't find the code corresponding to applescript.
Anymore I would be happy to find the applescript reference for Indesign CS4
    Thank you for your help

  • InDesign CS4 - Index no longer lists entries

First off, it's been a while since I've posted here! I feel all giddy =)
Second, thanks for taking time to look at this one....
I'm on XP using InDesign CS4. We've created and updated many book files over the years starting with CS1 and have not run into this situation before. I'm hoping someone out there can help shed some light as to why, if not a fix. This particular project is a chapter based book file that was originally made several years earlier using InDesign CS1. There are 11 chapters, plus Table of Contents, Index, and technical matter up front. Since the original production, information has changed so we have set out to make an update.
    Updates included:
    - Figure edits/addition (all externally linked to .AI files)
    - Layout changes (i.e., page shifts due to additional graphics, some text content added, some removed, but nothing heavy)
    - Conversion from CS1 to CS4
    - Chapter Title updates (we are not using any scripts that name internal content based on file name)
    - Chapter sequence has changed so that old Chapter 5 is now new Chapter 1 and all following chapters shifted up by one. This literally changed all file names of the individual InD chapter files used to comprise the book document.
    OK!
Old Chapter 5 is now new Chapter 1 and required reinsertion into the book document. This was the same for most of the other chapters as well. Upon all updates, the page numbering, sequences, etc., all checked out. I updated the ToC withgout issue. I then attempted to update the Index. This is when I noticed that the "Update Index" option was greyed out (Windows/Type & Tables/Index Shift+F8). Odd, but Ok, so I tried to generate a new index. No luck there either as it only created a empty text field with the title "Index" but with no entries. I then checked the Index Preview list and noticed that all but perhaps 5% of my entries were missing.
So this is where I am. Yes, content was edited, but not to the extent that would have deleted so many indexed entries throughout the book. Has anyone had experience with index errors during conversion from CS1 to a newer version? Or perhaps by renaming and reinserting chapter files into the master book document? I always assumed that the Index entries were held within the chapter file they were created in, until running the book-based Index generation. Perhaps I'm wrong. Could renaming/reimporting chapters have wiped my entries?
I do have the old Index.ind file with all old entries as well as several prints for reference should I need to comb the ENTIRE book replacing each Index entry. I hope that is not my only option! I hope hoping that one of you might offer some sound advice that I'm overlooking here before I head down that road. Please help me, Obi-won. You're my only hope. Any takers?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. It's much appreciated!
    - Noel.

Please forgive my weird sense of humor, but, it looks like you've found a perfect way to delete 95% of your index markers in a book.
Seriously, I'm not certain how this could happen, but I do have a couple of ideas on how to troubleshoot that I learned from some years as a trainer and tech-support guy.
    * Go back to the beginning of your process. Open a copy of an old file in CS1, if you still have it, and if it runs on a workstation that's compatible with it. Generate an index; the original index markers should work. If you don't have CS1, open a copy in whatever release you used to convert your old files, and generate an index. Compare the two indexes, if you have been able to make one for the file with CS1. If no CS1, compare the index entries in the newer version's index with the complete CS1 index. If any original-index entries from the test file aren't present in the newer-version index, here's where things went bad. If nothing's lost, this likely isn't the trouble spot.
What could go bad here? The obvious suspect is the conversion from CS1 to CS4. I can't remember how CS1 worked. If it had an export-to-inx, and you opened that inx file in CS4, and the CS4 file is missing index markers, try opening a copy of the CS1 file directly in CS4. Or, if you opened the CS1 file directly in CS4 and lost index markers, try exporting from CS1 to inx and opening that file. If both methods lose index markers, then this is the problem spot; perhaps someone has a suggestion to fix this problem.
    * If the file conversion doesn't lose index markers, then the book feature is the next place to look. Create a new book in CS4 and add the files in the old order and generate an index. Compare it to the original. No loss, then push it harder, and rearrange the order of documents in the book, and regenerate the index. If this fails, generate a brand-new index. If both index generation approaches fail, then you've found the problem. Perhaps someone can suggest a fix.
    * If all's OK so far, try more stuff, like rearranging chapter files, generating the index.
    * If rearranging files works, test each succeeding step in the process until you find the failure.
    * If you can't find a fix for the problem you uncover as the cause, one possible help in re-marking content for a new CS4 index would be to export the original book file set from CS1 to PDF with index entries set to create hyperlinks. Then work through that PDF index by clicking the page references to find their sources, and create new markers in the new files.

  • How to import images from web via CSV in Indesign CS4?

    Hi,
I am using Indesign CS4 and i want to import pictures from my homepage.
I have a CSV export from a database with products and the url to the
product picture. I want to import the information for the products and
the picture via data merge. I added the @ in the name of the column
where the url to the pictures is. Everything works perfect when I use
a lokal path, but I need to get the pictures from the website.
Is it possible to import pictures from a website via CSV data merge?
What steps are needed for that?
Would be great if you could help me.
    Best Regards.

thank you all for your answers, that was what i thought.
yes, it starts with http://domainnaime.... it's from an extern webspace
then i will backup all pictures and put them in the local network and try over ip-address if that also won't work then I'll copy then locally
altough, it would be great if it works via ip-address
