Is that true, use 16 Ggo RAM on mac mini mid 2011?

is that true, to use 16 Ggo RAM on mac mini mid 2011?

macsales.com (other world computing) is a good source for quality RAM and says "yes": http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/mac-mini/
crucial.com is another trusted source of RAM.
Be sure you get the correct RAM as advised by the website and do not try faster RAM.

  • 8 GB RAM for Mac Mini Mid-2011?

I am looking for the correct version to install in my Mac Mini 2011. I found http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-PC3-10600-SODIMM-204-Pin-CT2C4G3S1339M/dp/B008LTBI T4/ is that the correct version that is compatable with my device?

FWIW I will only buy RAM straight from Crucial or OWC.

  • HT204144 I am on mac mini (mid 2011) and iphone 6 and trying to use airdrop but it is not working.

I followed all instructions but under mac finder, air drop is simply blank. I have set-up everyone on airdrop on iphone 6 in control center. Am I missing something. I am also on same network.

    I read this paragraph:
In order to transfer files between a Mac and and an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, your iOS device needs iOS 7 or later installed and your Mac needs to be a 2012 or later model. To transfer files between two Mac computers, you need one of the Mac models listed below and OS X Lion or later.
MacBook Pro (Late 2008 or newer)*
MacBook Air (Late 2010 or newer)
    MacBook (Late 2008 or newer)*
    iMac (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Mini (Mid 2010 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2009 with AirPort Extreme card, or Mid 2010)
*The MacBook Pro (17-Inch Late 2008) and the white MacBook (Late 2008) do not support AirDrop.
    --end--
So I am using mac mini mid 2011 and according to this line, I may not use it and need mac 2012, right? but why air drop is showing here on my mac mini is due to fact that transfer between 2 mac computers is possible if one is even of less than 2012 make.
I think I am clear now. Thank you and see if you have any thought on this?

  • Mac Mini Mid 2011 Ram Upgrade to Clock 1600mhz...?

I intend to upgrade the Memory on my Mac Mini Mid 2011 to 8gb. Question here is its currently running Two 1gb Chips at 1333mhz and I was wondering if I could get Two 4gb Chips at 1600mhz and have them mounted...?
Is that possible or will I have to stick to a 1333mhz Module...?

Stick with the recommended RAM for the computer.......
.....make sure your mini will not go past 8GB.....

  • Mac Mini (mid 2011) ram slot has failed: Any others experiencing?

This seems similar to this problem, mentioned in a number of threads covering MacBooks, best described here: MacBook Pro loses access to 1 memory slot upon shutdown or reboot in OS X 10.8.1
I'm having the same issue with a Mid-2011 Mac Mini (purchased June 2013).  As in that linked tread, overheating after OS upgrade (in my case , Mavericks) seems to be related.  I had constant crashes at sleep beginning about three weeks ago, and three tones at boot.  For about two weeks I could get it to reboot by unplugging and giving it some time. Until today. Cleaned. Tested both chips in both possible slots, but will always get three tones when either chip is in top slot, fine when that slot is empty. Hardware test appears to just ignore an empty slot, so really not helpful (and won't boot with filled slot).
It appears the only real fix is a new logic board, which appears is almost as expensive as buying a new machine.
I'm not going to get into "loosening screws" as suggested in linked discussion, but that may work for a powerbook.
It does sounds like heat related warping. I saw early heating problems with this after 10.9.5 upgrade.  Ended up building a special vertical stand (Mini's venting is rather poor) and installed "Temperature Monitor" by Marcel Bresink Software, which I recommend, and uninstalled some things (including killing a Mac update process that was running constantly) .  This got the heat under control, but it looks like the damage was done. Now I'm running on one 8gb memory chip, which dramatically shortens the life of the machine.  It won't be a candidate for a Yosemite upgrade coming shortly.
Must say I'm pretty disappointed in "Apple quality". Had similar experience (repeated shorts of logic board, replaced 3 times) with a MacBook c.1997, when Apple Co. was looking like it might not survive, and lots of folks were having such problems.  But at least then they would repair it for free. Given the premium price (without premium quality), I think this will be my last Mac, after having started with a Plus in the 1980s.

Mac Mini mid 2011, installed 2x 4GB memory when first got this machine, has worked well till this year 2015 when it slowed way down and I found memory slot #2 was not working.  I swapped the cards and also reinstalled the original mac memory, still only half of the memory is detected in one slot.  It is always the same slot, not dependent on the memory card.  A mac mini which never gets moved.  Mar. 2, 2015

I would opt for one 8 GB stick so you would have 10 GB. total. This says really no practical advantage in dual channel memory

  • Mac mini mid 2011 and logic pro 9 in 64-bit?

    Hi,
I have a mac mini mid 2011 with a 2.7HGz intel core i7 processor and 8 GB of RAM. I have been using Logic Pro 9 in 32-bit mode and tried switching to 64-bit mode. I unchecked the "open in 32-bit mode" in the "get inf" section, but logic still opens in 32-bit mode.
My question is: Can my computer run Logic Pro 9 in 64-bit mode???
    Thankyou!

    Hi there jdtay2,
It looks like your model of Mac Mini does have a 64-bit processor according to the article "How to tell if your Intel-based Mac has a 32-bit or 64-bit processor"
    Processor Name
    32- or 64-bit
    Intel Core Solo
    32 bit
    Intel Core Duo
    32 bit
    Intel Core 2 Duo
    64 bit
    Intel Quad-Core Xeon
    64 bit
    Dual-Core Intel Xeon
    64 bit
    Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    64 bit
    Core i3
    64 bit
    Core i5
    64 bit
    Core i7
    64 bit
As far as opening Logic Pro in 64-bit mode, you will first want to make sure that you have the most updated version, as 64-bit support was added in the v9.1 update. The article below has more information about Logic Pro and 64-bit mode.

  • Mac mini (Mid 2011) inexplicably running slow, especially videos, despite what I think is sufficient memory.

I have a Mac mini (Mid 2011). It has become slow in some ways even though I have 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory and almost 250GB of free storage. I recently installed Yosemite 10.10.1 (14B25) but I had noticed the slow down prior to that. Notably, videos no longer run smoothly. Instead, there are brief pauses in playback. I initially thought it was a problem with streaming videos but then found the same problem playing TV shows and movies downloaded from the iTunes store.
There are now also lags for starting up certain programs and many programs seems sluggish once open. Not sure what could have caused the slow down since I don't even use the computer at issue very much and haven't recently installed any new software. No programs launch with log-in and all notifications are turned off. Any ideas? If there's a problem specifically related to video, I'd be interested in hearing that too. I use a Samsung monitor but it and everything else about my computer used to work perfectly and videos ran smoothly until fairly recently.

  • Mac Mini (Mid-2011 Core i7) Slow after Yosemite Upgrade

I've searched the other "slow after Yosemite upgrade" threads but those seem to relate to Core Duo 2 machines with less RAM.  I have a Core i7 MM w/ 8GB of RAM, after the Yosemite upgrade it constantly lags, I can barely type on it these days because the text lags so badly.  It's unusable to say the least.  Is there anything I can do to speed it up?  There must be a reason why the performance is so bad.

  • Windows 8 Release Preview on Mac Mini mid 2011

I was wondering if its possible to install Windows 8 Release Preview on a Mac Mini mid 2011 via Bootcamp (Mainly for gaming purposes)

I've finally got it installed on my HP Touchsmart 610-1000t (or whatever the number is).....
    Apparently it's a graphics card/driver issue.
I downloaded the enterprise final release and it did the same thing to me (black screen etc etc).
In the end, I highly doubt some of these models are compatible with windows 8 if the final release is giving me the same problem.  The only difference is- now the sleep button worked, so I fiddled around with it until I got it fully installed (user created).  After doing so, I booted into Safe mode and disabled the graphics driver/restarted and it booted up fine/works fine.  Every now and then it crashes on IE10.  I wasn't able to test the touch capabilities during the releases between developer and final, so it wasn't until now I can finally test the functionarlity of ALL the gesture functionality.  I can say, the combination of the touch screen desktop and short cut keys makes everything so much quicker and easier.  I perfer windows 8 over windows 7 on my touchscreen, finally the touchscreen experience is much better! Of course I still use my keyboard and mouse.  The touch pinning/swiping is awesome.  I can't say the same for normal desktops in a corporate environment (without touchscreens).....I can say however- windows 8 tablets would be really nice in place of my Ipad or my laptop that I carry around from meeting to meeting, thus the reason I'm waiting for the Surface!  CItrix and apps can only take you so far.

  • I have a mac mini mid 2011, this device have; 2,3GHz and 2 Gb Memmory.I want to upgrade the memory and i need the list of supported memory modules

i have a mac mini mid 2011, this device have; 2,3GHz and 2 Gb Memmory.I want to upgrade the memory and i need the list of supported memory modules. i am from turkey.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The Mid 2011 Mac mini supports 8 GB of memory officially, but you can install up to 16 GB of RAM, so you can use 2, 4 and 8 GB modules. You can buy more RAM from OWC or Crucial.
If you are looking for memory at a local shop, make sure you buy 1333 MHz DDR3 memory. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4432?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

  • Mac Mini mid 2011 Mini Dvi to VGA problems

I have a mac mini mid 2011 and I have to connected to a display in work.  The display only has a VGA entrance, so i bought a mini dvi to vga adapter from my local mac store, but when i connected to the display everything looks odd, the whole display has an odd purple look, I have tried to use a different VGA cable but keep having the same problem, I even tried a different display with the same results, anybody knows why this happens and how to fix it?

    Your welcome!
On your end before returning the Adapter,
try > Resetting the System Management Controller
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
    3. Wait fifteen seconds.
    4. Attach the computer's power cord.
    5. Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
and > About NVRAM and PRAM
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    3. Turn on the computer.
    4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    6. Release the keys.
then if that doesn't help, return the adapter and explain the problem to the Apple tech person at the store.

  • Mac Mini (Mid 2011) display artifacts HDMI to DVI at native res

    Hello,
I recently changed monitor configurations and in the process moved my Mac Mini (Mid 2011) to a HP LP2065 monitor.  The connection is made through the stock supplised HDMI to DVI adapter.   The monitor and the DVI cable work successfully with other machines.
What occurs is only certain colors, usually black,  result in the display being red and/or sparkling and/or static (like TV static) when the monitor is set at its native resolution of 1600x1200.
If I bump the resolution down to 1280x1024, or lower,  the black color returns and I see no display glitches.   If I bring the resolution back up to 1600x1200,  the display artifacts return.
A few google searches suggest I use a DisplayPort to DVI adapter instead as some monitors are "finicky".   Does anyone agree with that?  It seems peculiar to me -- why would a digital signal have analog-looking glitches?
Any ideas welcome.. thanks for reading

Your monitor has a native pixel resolution of 1920x1200.  There is no point in trying for 1080-p or -i.
I run two 1920x1200 monitors via HDMI (with passive cable adapters where necessary) and I use these choices:
...and they are both pixel-sharp, filling the screen, and yet menu bars totally visible!

According to the copy&paste from wikipedia, HDMI should support higher resolution than 1920x1200. So the question is, does it aupport that on the mid 2011 mac mini. It says in the specifications
"Mac mini is designed to work with HDMI devices that comply with versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.2a, 1.3, 1.3a, and 1.4 of the HDMI specification."
That should mean it should be able to support it, but I don't know : <
