Is the 1.8" HDD really suited for a computer?

I remember reading somewhere a while back that ipod drives really couldn't be used as main computer hard drives because the daily activity would burn out the mechanism. Can this drive really take the punishment of computer users?

Notebook drives - 2.5" and 1.8" aren't really designed for heavy use. There's a reason why you're not going to find "enterprise" grade notebook drives. Their small size basically dictates the use of smaller, less robust components, not to mention the amount of heat that is generated from such a small device.
That being said, the MBA isn't supposed to be a "primary" computer system for moderate to heavy users. As one of Anandtech's reviews pointed out:
"...most of the people considering the Air aren't looking at it as a second notebook or a third system, they are looking at it as their primary notebook (and will be left sorely disappointed or frustrated after a while). "

    The answers are in the details, and you have not given us enough details to help you.
    Right now I am guessing at what you seek. Are you trying to use your HP Touch Screen to do your
    Premiere Elements importing, editing, and exporting and the Touch Screen movements are not working
    to do what you want to do in Premiere Elements?
    Have you configured the HP computer Touch Screen? Using the Touch Screen, what cannot you do
    that you can do with the mouse?
    HP Support document - HP Support Center
    If I am guessing correctly here, does the mouse work instead of the Touch Screen to allow you to
    work in the program.
    I suspect that Premiere Elements does not support Touch Screen and you will end up using a mouse, but I would need to do more homework on
    that.
    This is not Adobe. Rather user to user. If you are dealing with the current version, 13, you might want to contact
    Adobe about the matter. More on that later, once you confirm the above or let me know that I have completely
    misinterpreted your question/concern.

    You know, this is just a thought.  I'm not sure the differences between the iq526 and iq770, but as I was looking around I found this article.  I don't know if it'll help, but you might want to take a look.  Evidently someone figured out how to use the HP touchsmart as an external monitor for his Dell laptop.

  • What does iTunes FORCE YOU to download the last version of their software to use their store? The new program is too much for my computer!

    This totally *****...iTunes 10 is too much of a memory hog for my POS computer. I have to turn off all other apps just to use it and even then it still runs SLOW. I think iTunes = Extorition. Why force us to use it? They just want to track your personal data. That's pretty evil. The best iTunes version for my computer was iTunes 7. But it won't let me use store on iTunes 7. F@#$*%s!
    Instead of making the program more streamlined, they make the next version LARGER FILE SIZE and more of a memory hog.
    Apple should be making each successive version a SMALL FILE SIZE and less of a drain on memory.

    The problem is a lot of PC's are sold cheap with 5 year old processors and graphic cards in them.
    Windows doesn't defrag on the fly, you have to run anti-virus all the time. The PC vendor installs all their "crapware" on the machine too.
    Also most PC's don't come with hardly any RAM neither, most people don't know computer specs, don't know how to look up their prospetive machine on the internet and see if they are getting their money's worth.
    Microsoft is a enemy too, they allow "toolbars" Acive X and purposely bloat their operating system so it forces you to buy a new one.
    At least with iTunes you have a choice to buy your music ANYWHERE, you could have kept on using iTunes 7, just you would have had to buy your music via cd's or another website like Amazon etc.
    Microsoft has really bloated down the last few updates of Windows, I replaced all the old Dells with 512MB of RAM and 16 year old single core Cellerons with copies of Linux Like XP so the seniors at a local center can still get on the internet if they need too.
    Still even with that the last few updates of Linux have been a bit rough for those old machines, but for the net that's good enough.
    LOL!
    (Although I don't know if the OP will be in the mood to "get it.")

  • Where can i get  the demo version of BPA Suite for linux?

    Hi guys,
    The article "Oracle Suite Instalation and Administration Guide" suggests use the installer called install_bpa<version>.<build number>.sh, but I can not find it for download.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey everyone,
    Does anyone have any more info about this? I'm also looking for this. Section 2.2 (page 7) of the BPA installation guide is the location that says you can install BPA on Linux, but I am unable to find the .sh to begin.

  • HELP: Adobe suites for multi computer for business

    Hi
    I need help!
    The business I work for has Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium and Adobe Creative Suite 6 Production Premium.
    We currently have theses suites on a number of computers (5 or 6 roughly?) and only 2 computers have a full version of these suites.
    We are needing to have a full version on more then 2 computers.
    What are my options?
    How would I provide a different seriel number?
    Can I change settings to allow the programs to be used in more then 2 computers?
    Please email me on: [email protected]
    Appreciate a response ASAP
    Regards,

  • Is oracle 10g really oriented for grid computing?

    Hello all,
    Microsoft's article "http://www.microsoft.com/sql/prodinfo/compare/oracle/mythandreality.mspx" reads as follows:
    "Oracle's purported Grid enablement in 10g is based on its Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) technology that is no more than a local cluster. RAC is a local cluster of computers with no geographic distribution capabilities. This marketing campaign relabeled existing features to exploit current industry trends. "
    is microsoft article right? why o why not is oracle grid is a local cluster instead of grid computing oriented?
    Thanks in advance.

    The distance limitations are not due to the RAC product itself but rather network technology limitations.. Unable to deliver data between sites at a very high speed.
    I think Oracle is the only product available in the market today that can provide a close to Grid solution. Its also important to note that Grid computing in general is not ready because there are no set standards for heterogeneous systems to communicate with each other.. for example we cannot have Windows and Linux as a clustered configuration. While these limitations do affect the overall Grid strategy, there is definitely a grid within the Oracle paradigm. meaning an Oracle Grid does exist.

  • Can I only use the itunes ID for the music and my other id for my computer and Iphone

    Can I just use one Itunes id for Match and another Id for my apps on my phone and my Mac?

    If I'm understanding your question correctly, no. iTunes Match is tied to an Apple ID and regional store. Once you sign into an Apple ID on a device and use iTunes Match it is not possible to switch between Apple IDs for 90 days. You will not be able to regularly update your apps.

  • White background or Black background suited for long term watching ?

    Hello,
      I saw many desktop themes with white or light grey background a few years ago, but now, many of them turn into black background with white or blue or cyan or others color of fonts.
      As a programmer, I am just curious about the theme: which type is suited for long term use of computer?
      I have tried both, and found grey background is easy to read because it is similiar to read on paper, but it looks like a lighting-bulb!; black background with blue font is cool, along with less luminosity, seems free my eyes.
      But another problem is the color choosing. With light grey background, it seems any color is right. But with black background, colors should be carefully selected, since some colors are not suit black background at all.
      Grayscale is another one. With light grey  background, I can easily tune my font in grayscale, like Japanese cartoon paper (I like it very much!), gracifully to distinct keywords. But with black background, it is ugly to use grayscale to distinct keywords.
      How about your ideas?

    I commented out the external logo calls (since the new logo area fits really nicely with this style), The sections I commented out can probably be removed safely, and I made the textbox post area more readable.  Now I love the new webpage layout!
    Here's the dark home page style I'm using, also based on Hrwa's archlinx homepage userstyle, but I havent made too many changes there, other than the package search box needed a little tweeking.   I havent really checked the other pages, I do know the wiki pages have some issues with this style, if anyone else wants to help out

  • Which is the lattest version of firefox available for win7?what are firefox aurora and firefox beta?

    I just downloaded firefox aroura i.e, firefox 16 but when I tried to use it, it opens up a firefox 14 window that is the earlier browser I have!!

    The latest release of Firefox for Win7 is 14.0.1
    You may either be using a shortcut that is pointing to the Firefox 14.0.1 install or Firefox 14.0.1 was still running when you tried to start the Aurora build. The Betas are kind of close to that of the Release Candidates of before Firefox 4.0.
    aurora: This is a new channel which has been introduced with the rapid-release scheme since Firefox 5.0; these builds reflect changes which also went into beta for the next release, thus making them available immediately, or which were deemed unsuitable for beta but safe for the following release (and, in general don't contain any string changes).
    nightly: The nightly channel allows you to update to every nightly test build that is produced with latest code from mozilla-central. Which Fx 17.0a1 is currently on.
    The Aurora and Nightly channels only get updates whenever there are checkins to the channel which is usually daily, especially with Nightly. These channels are not really meant to be used with one build for several weeks like a release build.
    There are for main channels
    Release = 14.0.1
    Beta = 15.0b5
    Aurora = 16.0a2
    Nightly = 17.0a1
    esr = extended-support releases, currently is 10.0.6esr
    default = used by third-party or builds you built yourself for example.
    The Aurora is not really meant for regular Firefox users as they should keep it as a separate install form 14.0.1 and use a separate Profile from 14.0.1. Also note that early next week the versions on the channels with move/merge to next channel as Firefox 15.0 will be out on Tuesday if all goes well. If you do test the Aurora builds, there will likely be no updates sent for a few days next week as the Aurora channel can sometimes be unstable for a while due to the common dash of dumping checkins on it at last minute.
