Is the 10.7.2 fixed battery drain problem ?

there is no information anywhere and I wonder if this problem is fixed ?

I wonder what percentage of users has that problem? Maybe I need to retest that one Unibody MacBook battery again with Snow Leopard, we always got poor life with Windows on it.
I will double check also the new 2011 MBP, unfortunately, we have no reference to what is a good battery life on that one. It is a new system. It definitely had no effect on our old white MB.
(Now I am having serious battery life problem with my 2010 Touch could that be an OS?)

  • Help / FYI - MicroSD card the source of a constant battery drain in BB10

I'm not sure if this is a 'Z10' specific issue as I don't have a Q10 but I've been trying to track down the source of a constant battery drain on my Z10, in my case, it is having a microSD card inserted.
    Some more info:
    - Model: STL100-3
    - OS version: 10.1.0.2354 (current version of OS but the constant battery drain has existed on all other versions I have tried).
    - Carrier: Virgin Mobile Canada
    - MicroSD card: Sandisk Ultra 64GB
Essentially, BatteryGuru has always shown a constant 0.4 watt drain on my Z10 which means my Z10, even if I am not using it at all, will at most last about 12 hours.
I narrowed it down to the microSD card after doing the following:
    - eliminating the mobile network as the source by removing the SIM card and turning off mobile connections.
    - eliminating EAS accounts as the source by removing all 4 of my email accounts on the phone
    - deleting essentially all my apps (even with no third party apps installed except batteryguru and no customized accounts like Box, the 0.4 watt drain still persisted).
I then thought it might be the encryption setting but encryption is turned off on my phone (for the phone and the media card).
I also thought it might be the amount of files I had on my SD card (20GB's of music, 10GB ov videos, 5 GB's of photos), but even with the card reformated and empty the 0.4 watt drain continues.
But if I remove the microSD card, the battery drain stops with BatteryGuru reading 0.0 watt drain (saying it will give me 112 hours on battery).  Even after re-adding my email accounts and leaving wifi on (but not the mobile network), my battery drain is still 0.0 watts.
Since I have always had a 0.4 watt drain on my Z10's (I'm on my fourth right now), I know it isn't unique to this phone and I've been on at least three different OS's so it's not unique to the OS.  The only constant I guess is that it has been a SanDisk 64GB card.
I'll have to see if I can buy/borrow another microSD card to see if it happens with another size capacity but hopefully this can be fixed in a future update??
    Regards.

    Hello
I have the same issue with the same card: a SanDisk Ultra 64 GB - also same measurements using Battery Guru. I changed to a 32GB Transcend Micro SDHC class 10 and the battery drain is much less but still existing.
I checked the SD type number, found Transcend SD cards on the Transcend website especially recommended for mobile phones and ordered yesterday a 32GB and 64GB.
As I am on vacation I will not be able to test the cards for battery drain in near future but it is very interesting that I had the same issue with SanDisk SD on Blackbery Torch/OS7.
As far as I know these issues are caused by SD cards not entering certain idle modes when unused.

Interesting about the cards not entering idle mode.  I'm trying to find another card to try.  The SanDisk Ultra 64GB is technically for mobile phones but if it doesn't work right, well... it doesn't work right.
This has been posted on CrackBerry to and it seems others have had the same problem though a couple of people pointed out they have not had that problem (one of those stated he was using a Q10 though and not the Z10).

  • Does 4.2 fix 4.1s battery drain problem?

    or make it worse?

Neither. 4.1 does not have a battery drain problem, your iPhone has a battery drain problem. You need to fix the problem at its root. Every version has caused problems for some people, and it isn't a problem in the release, it is a problem with something getting corrupted during the update process. Here's the evidence:

How to fix iPhone 5's crapy battery drain problem

It's not that bad bro. Just turn LTE off when not needed. Turn notifications, push, spotlight search, wifi, etc off if you don't feel the need of them. The big drain is from LTE so I guess if you turn it off the battery wont drain that fast.

  • Fix battery discharge problem?

I have been working with this for 2 weeks w/o success.
Lawrence Finch and others have helped.
First, I tried the battery recalibration and it seemed to work.
I could pass the " battery drain test".
    That didn't last.
Now, when I redid the drain test, neither the usage time nor
standby time changed in 5 minutes - that's weird.
Next, I'll try Scotty's suggestions about Background ap refresh.
Following a suggestion, I upgraded this week to iOS 8.1
    Alas, that failed, too.
After upgrading to 8.1, the problem remains.
After recharging my phone, I use for one or two calls, one or two messages.
    Otherwise, it has been sitting.
During the first upgrade to 8.0.2 some weeks ago,
I added a pass code and downloaded NUMBERS, an app I use heavily on my Mac.
Could either of those be the problem?
I've searched the on-line manual for how to delete NUMBERS to no avail.
I just redid the"battery drain test" suggested weeks ago: noted standby and usage times, pushed the standby
button to put it to sleep, came back 7 mintues later. Result: no change in either standby or usage times.
Previously, I did get a result indicating a battery drain problem.
The battery is dead in 24 hours.
Should I give up and head for the Apple Store?
    I'm really getting frustrated.
Thanks so much for your patience,
Thanks in advance for your help.
Many thanks for your previous responses and suggestions!!

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

I have personally seen the problem and corrected it on numerous models now including the 4S, 4, 3GS and iPad 2s.  Corrupt system level settings created by an iOS 5 bug in the original release that caused battery recalibration issues, etc.  Just installing the update does not fix the issue in most cases (sometime it initially can be worse).  You need to clear out those settings and recalibate the battery.  For those still having the "standby battery drain" issue follow the procedure below in order.  It does fix the problem in most cases.
Go through these steps to address the battery after updating to iOS 5.0.1:
    1. Reset all settings (settings app-> general-> reset)
    2. Go through initial setup steps (lang, wifi, siri, enable location, etc) and choose setup as new phone (don't worry your apps, data, contacts, mail will still be there). At this point, Do NOT restore from iCloud or iTunes (It can copy back corrupt settings)
    3. Turn off system location services timezone and iAd
    4. Fully discharge battery  (till it shuts off with the spinning wheel)
    5. Fully recharge battery (overnight if possible)
In my experience this improves the standby battery drain issue significantly in most cases.  It reduces drain from 2-4% or more per hr to 0.5% or less. It has worked for many, many users now... not all, but most. If it does not work after a few try's you may have a real battery or hardware issue and should contact Apple.  Good Luck!

  • Has ios 4.3.2 solved the quick battery drain problem?

My 3rd generation ipod touch lasted for days on a battery charge using ios 3.1.3 form A;pril 2010 until July 2010.  After upgrading to ios 4.0 and other "updates" through 4.3.1 the battery does not last overnight when the touch is turned OFF or sleeping.  Apple has not responded to my eleven requests for help and the 'Genius?' offered no solutions except to turn off WI-FI, locations and other functions that I spent $300. to use.  The touch is now out of warranty, so IT IS TIME FOR APPLE TO RELEASE A SOFTWARE FIX FOR THE QUICK BATTERY DRAINS CAUSED BY IOS 4.xx.x.

Not for me.  I upgraded to iOS 4.3.2 on my iPod Touch G3 and everything worked OK, apps and all.  Then the next morning it was completely dead after putting it in standby with a full battery the night before.
I am VERY FRUSTRATED at what 4.2.x has done to the battery life on my iPod Touch.  I use it every day and until I got 4.2.0 I could count on it being there when I needed it.  Now I feel lucky that it even turns on.
I can NO LONGER recommend Apple phones or Touch to my family/friends until this is fixed!
    APPLE, PLEASE FIGURE THIS OUT!

  • Has anyone else noticed that the new update makes your battery drain more quickly?

Ever since the 6.1 update my battery dies as fast as my android did!  :/ usually I can go all day, not since the update. Any thoughts?

Some likely have... this is an issue reported after every iOS upate.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide typically resolves the issue.

  • Iphone 3GS 3.1.2 Battery drain problem

    Hi,
Recently i have purchased Iphone 3gs with software 3.1.2. I'm facing a serious problem of battery drain. Without doing anything, the battery drains so fast. Is there is any way to over come this problem?

Here's what I do that usually keeps battery life accurate. Drain the battery till it's dead, charge up full and do a hard reset while it's still plugged in and it usually works. If this fixes it just keep killing the battery and charging it full. If it acts up repeat steps above. Mine works almost everytime when it starts acting up. I was just trying things and this worked. Hope this helps

  • IPhone 4S battery drain problem with iOS 7.0.4

I have a had the iPhone 4 for a year and a half...The battery was working just fine with the iOS 6 but when updating to iOS 7..Things got a bit ridiculous, battery drains 4% in 10 minutes without WiFi. With Wifi it drains about 8% in 10 minutes with only one application used which is Safari. I usually turn off the WiFi and shutting all the applications of before putting on Standby to help in battery time efficiency. I reset all my settings as most of the tutorials say. I don't use GPS and closed most of the notification center applications that I don't use. Battery only lasts like 3 or 4 hours of continuous work with WiFi and low brightness..I'm seeking some help from Apple Technical support WHOM I tried to contact but with no answer.

  • Battery drain problem - question if auto lock is problem

Just upgraded from iPad2 to Retina iPad. Went smoothly with cloud backup and download but experiencing sever battery drain. Went to use it 2 days ago after limited use prior evening (taking minutes in Evernote for 2 hr meeting) and had shut off. Restarted and had 2% battery and totally useless. Recharged overnight to 100% but had no demands yesterday. That evening opened up and found I had 21% remaining.
Did battery problem search at this site, made some adjustments, and recharged to 100% for this AM. Two primary adjustments were stopping Bluetooth and Autolock changed from never (iPad2 setting) to 10 minutes and wondering if the autolock feature is the problem as discussed in the next paragraph. Others I didn't change, gmail set to fetch/manual and Cloud is push. WiFi on and disabling like suggested in some threads would be a royal PITA having to turn it back on every time and counter to the Apple vision of useability. App Store is set to advise of updates. Each of those were like on the iPad2 where had no battery problem, except I didn't activate cloud until just prior to the upgrade. IOS on both machines fully upgraded to IOS 6.01.
Interesting discovery this AM. While I set the Auto-Lock to 10 minutes last evening, the the iPad Cover lock/unlock is set "ON". It appears that the 10 minute Auto Lock is working, however, the automatic lock/unlock is not which would explain the battery drain when set autolock was set to never. This AM as I opened it, had to manually unlock it as opposed to having the cover unlock it for me. As I close the cover and peek under the edge can still see the iPad  illuminated until the 10 minutes kicks in...then manually unlock it again. The cover I am using is the heavy duty RooCase with magnetic clip and had no problem when using it with the iPad2. (Great case by the way!) Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • Duplicated battery drain problems...need help testing.

I purchased an 80g classic about two weeks ago. The last 3 mornings I woke to find the battery completely dead. Last night I listened to a song or 2 and then pressed the stop button to turn it off. After reading other post I decided to put my ear to the back of the iPod and sure enough the hard drive was throttling at what sounded like full speed. This got the best of me so I spent about an hour messing around and this is what was noticed.
When launching music from Cover Flow, the hard drive throttles fast the whole time while music is playing causing the battery to drain in a short time. If you launch your music from albums or by artist you will hear the hard drive throttle for about 6 to 8 seconds then go silent. This is the way it should operate.
Next problem was the battery draining overnight while turned off. This was found simply by launching again from Cover Flow. Launch an album then turn off after song starts. You will notice that the hard drive continues to run very fast until the battery is completely drained. If you go back into menus before shutting down it will turn off properly. Again this does not occur when launching by albums or artists.
Cover flow = battery drain and this should have been found buy Apple before releasing to the public. It would be nice if someone from Apple would comment.
I have version 1.0.2 loaded and can’t go back to test version 1.0.1. What I am trying to figure out is this hardware or software. My guess is software but if I can’t get a good feeling about this soon the iPod is getting returned.
Can anyone help in testing this out, launch from Cover Flow and put your ear to the back of your iPod…listen for about 15 seconds, does the hard drive continue to turn fast? When turning off in Cover Flow, does the hard drive stay on?
Please post results and software version, thanks.

I have a Classic 160. With 1.0.1 I had few issues. I was mostly happy, but nervous about all the issues I read in these postings. Only problems I noticed with 1.0.1 were Cover Flow was a bit slow and high rez photos would not show up in manual mode. (But there's no excuse for that is there?) Syncing and battery life were fine. Then I installed 1.0.2. Cover flow works nice and smooth, but I too woke up to a completely drained battery even though I shut the unit down. With 1.0.1 battery seemed to last forever. Now the hard drive stays on after shutting off unit. I found the only way to turn it off is by rebooting the Classic - holding down menu and centre button. For $399 Canadian dollars I am very very disgusted with Apple. Why should a consumer have to constantly check the internet for discussions and updates? And the biggest joke of all is the Apple website offers NO ADVICE, but lets their consumers do all the problem solving for them. Amazing attitude. What's wrong with being upfront and honest that the new iPods have issues? What about the person who can't surf the web all the time for answers? Their Apple iPod purchase becomes a paperweight. My 2 gig keychain MP3 player worked better than this junk. I wish I never bought the thing. For a company like Apple to let the consumer figure out the issues is just not right. Where is firmware 1.0.3????

  • Quick Fix BATTERY DRAIN - (until the update of course)

I have recently been having problems with my battery on my iPhone 4S like everyone else has. So I decided that I would go to my local Apple store and see what was wrong. They had done a diagnostic test on it and said that my software was corrupted. They told me that to fix this problem I need to sync the iPhone to iTunes and restore and set up as a new iPhone. He emailed me this link showing me step by step on how to fix the problem with out losing anything on my phone. So I tried it out and IT'S FINALLY FIXED! My battery goes down at least one percent every 2/3 hours, giving me that 200 hour stand by time.
    INSTRUCTIONS:
    http://listentotristan.blogspot.com/2011/10/iphone-4s-batterygate-fix.html

One thing that drastically helped me was to shut down all the apps that you are not using.  When you press the 'Home" button and open up different apps, that previously run app does NOT automatically shut down.  It stays running in the background.  To see what apps you have running, simply 'double-tap' on your "Home" button and you will see a 'task manager bar' pop up.  You can scroll through it and even use it to bounce back into an already running app.  To shut down apps that you arent using, simply press and hold on any app that you see in the task manager pop-up (below all the other apps).  You will see 'minus' signs appear next to them.  Tapping this minus will not delete the app, but will just shut it down or quit the app.  It seems that the processor still dedicates power to every app open, even with the screen locked, so periodically just managing your apps and shutting down apps that are not being used will drastically increase battery life.  (You can also power off and power on as well...this will shut down everything too).    Think of it like your computer.....you have 10 programs running in the background and your bound to have performance issues.  I hope this helps....It deffinitely did for me.
