Is the 16 gig really worth $100 more?

I just sold my Ipod 5th generation on ebay. I got $175 for it. (I sold it with a external screen also)
I was going to buy the $199 Ipod touch which would cost me $25. Then I was thinking about going from 30 gig to 8 gig and realized that really does not hold a lot. For $100 more is the 16 gig worth it?
Do many of you have the 8 and are you happy with it or do you wish you had more space?

I have the 32GB iPod touch, and it still has 12.4GB left after putting a bunch of stuff on it(But I only have 824 songs, unlike most people). The good thing about all the space is that I don't have to sync it until an update comes out or I want an app that is over 10MB. An ever since the 2.0 update, my iPod touch has been really slow to update. So It's good to have ALL of your iTunes media on your iPod. Also, if your computer crashes, you can use a third-party program to take the content from your iPod touch and put it on a new computer.
So... You have a backup of your iTunes media, AND you hardly ever have to sync you iPod.
At least get the 16GB, but you might wanna go ahead and get the 32GB.

  • Is The iPhone 5 Really Worth It?

Hopefully I do not get bombarded by hardcore Apple fans but is the iPhone 5 really worth it. I used to have the iPhone 4S, but upgraded it to a Samsung Galaxy S3 and here is what I think of the iPhone 5. With phones like the Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3, and the Nokia Lumia 920, I find it hard for the iPhone to win but some people are just brainwashed in Apple's company. The phone is like a iPod Touch 5G but the difference is that you can talk and text but with apps like Free SMS, in theory the only difference is the talk. iMean it is the same thing every year of realease, new hardware and design and new look, but the same interface. Personally I think that the 2 Samsungs and the Nokia are better phones but because of the people who don't realise Apple's products are the same every year one will sell more but it is not about how much it sells, it is about the overall phone. They even rip us off by changing the slot smaller so we have to pay EXTRA to get a converter or get a new dock. Anyway, any thoughts on this?

That's why there is choice in the marketplace - you buy whatever suits your needs/preferences best.
If you want to waste time learning where everything is in constantly changing interfaces every year, then that's your choice.
Many people like familiarity, and don't have time or inclination to re-learn how to use a phone every few months.
it is the same thing every year of realease, new hardware and design and new look
Huh? Either it is the same, or it is new - it can't be both.

  • Is the apple router really worth it?

it is time to upgrade my router. I have an older linksys 802llb. Originally I had my heart set on going all apple but at almost $200 vs about $50 for a non apple version I am wondering if it makes a difference and if the apple router is worth the more $$$ and why.

    Yes.
    or
    No.
Depends on your personal needs and perspectives.
Personally I love the style and ease of configuration of the Apple base stations.
However non-Apple routers are relatively easy to configure as well.
Printing and sharing hard drives certainly adds value to the 802.11n Airport Extreme, whilst AirTunes is a nice feature on the Airport Express.
In the end only you can decide.
Question, did you buy the cheapest computer you could buy, or were there other factors which influenced your purchasing decision?

  • Is The Iphone 5 really worth the upgrade?

Im wondering if I should buy the IPhone 5 now or wait for the IPhone 6 (Set to come out in Sept.- Nov.)
I mean... there is alo of people who say the 5 is noth worth it...

No one here knows when the next iPhone will be released or what features it will have.
Only you can determine if you need a new phone now or if your current phone will continue to do the job until such time as another iPhone is released. And, only you can decided if the features of the iPhone 5 will meet your needs. There will always be a better, faster, more capable device released not too long after you buy what ever high tech device you buy be it computers, tablets, phones, cameras.
If you need a new phone now and the iPhone 5 meets your needs, there is no reason to think it will not continue to meet those needs even after the release of the next phone.

  • Is the iPod Touch really worth it ?

I currently have the 30 Gb iPod and I am happy with it - no complaints.
I was thinking for Christmas to treat myself to the 8 or 16 Gig iPod Touch.
I wanted opinions / views of whether people thought that purchasing the NEW iPod Touch was worth it? Perhaps those of you who have it find alot of bugs or issues with it.
Comments / opinions / suggestions are much appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Ty

I would say if you can afford it and are willing to spend the money then without a doubt yes!
I recently went back to my 30GB iPod Video after a couple of weeks on my iTouch and I couldn't believe at just how slow and cumbersome the old one was. Don't be too put off by the 16GB size of the Touch, sure we would all like more, but for me 16GB is plenty at the moment. I have 15 albums with over 350 songs and that only takes up 1.8GB.
Because the memory is Flash, there is no waiting for the HDD to boot up (because there isnt one) which results in instant playing.
The iTouch isnt without its faults, but its miles better than the classic.

  • Is the iPhone 4 really worth the cash?

When you compare to similar phones which have flash, proper bluetooth, and memory cards? What does the iPhone have that these phones don't?

It's personal preference and up to the end user. Some aren't happy Apple doesn't include a "FEED" panel or Widgets. Apple makes their iPhone/iPad with quality in mind:
    * SSD drive up to 16GB/32GB versus 2GB internal and transferring to MicroSD your movies and a few other things. Android is still on 1.5, 1.6, 2.0, and 2.1 on most phones and doesn't have App Storage limiting your choices in games, music, movies, etc.
    * Flash runs up RAM and power making the iPhone useless quicker than not having it at all.
    * HTML5 is still in the process of being added to some sites. Sites that do have it open QuickTime and YouTube then resume back on Safari. Whereas other sites close your Safari and open QuickTime and YouTube.
    * Bluetooth quality on some phones aren't that perfect. True Apple is taking their time and avoiding BT 3.0, but they're focused on quality. There have been reports of 3.0 not working properly. It would be nice to have forward/back/etc on the headsets, but you can double tap home on the lock screen to do this too.

  • Is iPhone 3G REALLY worth it?

I currently have t-mobile and also do not have service where i live, which is the main reason i want to switch services. My contract ends in December, when ill be able to get any other service i want if i choose. These past few weeks, I've taken a special liking to the iPhone. Now, i was wondering peoples opinions on it that have the phone and i want to know if you guys think the 3G is REALLY worth spending basically 300 dollars on it in December, because ill have to pay for the phone, activation fee, plan, etc.(I'm a teenager so i kind of need unlimited text and a good minute plan, so id be looking at a 90 dollar plan now. Do you guys think the 3G is really worth paying 90 bucks every month along with the 200 for the phone?

The iPhone is definitely worth the money and I don't think you'll be disapointed with it one bit. I don't use mine for business, but I do have it set up to get my email, the google maps come in handy for road trips or whatever. I have been wanting one since the original iPhone came out and was finally able to get one after the release of the 3g. Really the only thing that I did not like was that you can't forward text messages, but so what. Overall it is a great phone that comes in really handy for whatever you need it for. My plan consists of 450 minutes, 5000 night and weekends, unlimited data and 1500 texts for about $90 a month and thats only a little more than I was paying for service at my last provider and with no data. I recomend, as others have on this post, to go to the apple store and play around with one to get a feel for it's features and texting to see if it's for you....if your concerned about the battery, don't be, unless your on it constantly. I have mine playing music throughout the day at work while texting every now and then, when I get home i'll browse around on the internet for a bit and maybe play a game or two for a little bit and have not had the battery die on me once....just make sure you plug it in every night so it's charged and ready to go in the morning.

It appears the 15" 2.2 ghz isn't worth spending $400 more for, but you get the 1GB Radeon 6750M that has four times the VRAM than the 15" 2.0Ghz model and about 167% more performance. High settings on all current games with over 50 fps.
If your not into 3D gaming or just light weight, then the 2.0 Ghz (last years performance) will suffice on low-medium settings at about 30 fps.
The 13" is rather poor as it has integrated graphics. 30 fps on only some games.
The high res screen is a excellent choice and the anti-glare is great for viewing just about anywhere.
No messy films to replace at $30-$40 a pop.
A lot of people bring the glossy screens back once they hear about the anti-glare.
    http://www.pcpro.co.uk/blogs/2011/05/23/glossy-vs-matte-screens-why-the-pc-indus trys-out-of-touch/
    Here's my 17"
In my opinion the extra $400 for another 2-3 years of use out of the computer is worth it.
Quad cores are more than enough for most uses for most people for many years, it's just a slow card is going to make the machine feel slow in rendering graphics in the future.

  • Why do i have to pay $100 more than a new customer for the new 3gs

im 1 yr in to a 2 yr contract on my iphone 3g. when i go to preorder my new 3gs phone the price is $100 more than a new customer. this isnt really a question but a complaint that im afraid niether apple nor att will give a hoot about. how bout some love for customer loyalty?

This has nothing to do with customer loyalty and has everything to do with subsidized phones. You must fulfill your existing contract requirement for an existing subsidized phone before you are eligible for upgrade or the fully subsidized price with a new phone. The same applies with every carrier in regards to subsidized phones. The has been standard policy with every carrier in the U.S. in regards to subsidized phones for the last 10 years plus.

  • Is it really worth to update to 2.2 or wait till the bugs(if any) are fixed???

There are many of us here, still a bit confused after reading many threads, to install the new Froyo update, when available.
Is it really worth this update to 2.2 or wait a few weeks for the bugs(if any) are fixed???

    Ranked in order of annoyance:
    1. Takes longer to charge I would say almost double
    2. Battery life is worse with use, standby seems to be the same. WiFi radio definitely uses way more than it used to. I used to leave it on and always leave it off unless needed.
    3. Scrolling on flash sites very slow.
    4. We already had flash "lite", flash 10.1 does not seem to be any better at all.
    5. Crammed more bloat ware onto the device.
    Pros: (no order)
Device is faster just a tad, but not enough to justify the loss of battery
    Flash light app is good
HD recording seems about the same as my other 720 so its just nice to have it
App to SD is not really a benefit with Incredible because we have so much app RAM on the device anyway
    Auto update from Market
    Chrome to phone is great!
Wireless N is good but really no benefit due to battery use
    New voice search/integration
    That's my 2 cents

Nothing works anymore. £500 plus worth of music apps and hardware not functioning, Apps that I have paid for disappearing from the store after a reset. is it really worth investing any more time or money into this product? what a joke it is becoming. This is worse than windows vista.
Can anyone from Apple help me with this? thought not. You don't allow reverting back to earlier io versions for some strange reason. Have you forgot that we are the customer?

Sorry, Apple does not support downgrading.
As to apps disappearing, it's not uncommon for apps to be removed from the app store. I have a couple of games that I play that are no longer available.
Did you install 8 'over the air'? If so, research into doing a restore. Use a computer to back up your device and then reinstall iOS8 via a computer, and then restore your data from the backup. Sometimes a clean install clears away glitches caused by over the air installs.
If you just wish to express your frustration to apple, on the lower right corner of this page is a 'contact us' link. Send them feedback and let them know.

The system doesn’t recognize or capitalize the word (I) or the first word of every sentence. Another really annoying thing about the integrated mail on your Mac computers is the fact that the system learns the word as you type it more and more instead of highlighting it as incorrectly is this is a word that’s being misspelled. Can Apple fix this bug to make it user friendly as if you were using Office or a Word Document?

    You hit the target CT.
It’s only fair that if Apple is going to integrate Mail into Mac PCs, it would be nice if the system does it for you like Office or perhaps Outlook. I just don’t to use Outlook although I have it installed and ready to use, but instead use Mail which comes with Mac OS already.
I hope to make some sense here.

Read all the hype, but is Lion really worth getting unless you need to link up several devices??  e.g. is it worthwhile for a standalone iMac??

There's a million places on the 'net where you can find opinons on that (have a look here, for example http://applehelpwriter.com/2011/08/01/os-x-lion-10-7-%E2%80%94-the-jurys-verdict / ) and at least several long running threads on this forum too dealing with various opinions.
As for me, I've reverted to Snow Leopard.

OK, well i have herd both good and bad things on the arch linux x86_64. i just want to know is it really worth it if your computer can run it? or will other software come up todate with it, its actually pretty said though, that 64 bit os's has been out for some time now, and we still dont got wine, firefox, and simple thing like adobe fully working? should i go down to 32?

64bit firefox works fine. 32bit wine and flash both work fine on 64bit installs, the bin32 packages are in AUR. Pretty much any apps that don't have native 64bit versions have bin32 packages in AUR.
Adobe flash actually does have a 64bit build but adobe neglected to update it this past release cycle and the version thats availible has known and actively exploited security vulnerabilities. This is why its reccomended to use the bin32 version.
That said the only time youll probably ever notice a performance difference between 32bit and 64bit is with CPU intensive aplications, such as video encoding.
EDIT: Also you should search the forums before making posts. This topic gets brought up like once a day.

  • Are the CD based learning courses provided by sun really worth it?

    Hi everyone,
Just wanted to know whether the following course was worth pursuing and whether or not it gives you hands on training? (setting you tasks to do after each step etc)
    http://uk.sun.com/training/catalog/courses/CDJ-275-SE6.xml
My main concern was, I didnt want to sign up to something that just chucks theory after theory at you, was hoping more for a bit of theory, a few excercises so you are confident to start creating projects after your course.
I'm hoping someone has some experience in the following course and could give a good insight?
    Thanks

The course is good, but it's not a confidence builder. Get a personal attitude coach for that.
It will teach you skills, but no language course will teach you how to run an entire project. Take project management training, architecture training, and design training for that.
