Is the 17 inch better than the 15 inch mac book pro?
Which one is better to get and use? 15 or 17 inch?
I have both. One is not necessarily better than the other, really depends on what you plan on using the computer for. Even though the 17" is classified as a portable computer, IMO it's not very portable at all. Go to a store, view handle each for yourself. The 17" is quite large, mine sits on a desk as a desktop replacement. In terms of performance, equipped the same(processor, RAM & GPU), there is only about a 3% performance gain with the 17". Not enough to write home about. The big advantage of the 17" is screen real estate. But, if you want portability, get the 15".

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

well, it IS smaller! I find the Mini's screen easier for my old eyes to read. I have NO personal experience (other than holding and playing with a Nano in the store) with a Nano, as I'm waiting for Apple to improve scratch resistance before I buy one. IF they don't, I won't. Other than a minor problem of distortion when using the bass boost EQ on a Mini, I'm not aware of any pervasive issues with them. My wife's works like a charm. I'm a 40GB iPod owner myself. It works great, also. having said that, I'd still like a Nano IF APPLE TOUGHENS UP THE CASE.

My extreme seems to have better range also, although my extreme and express are located in different parts of my home. The extreme has an extra antenna, which aside from allowing a faster throughput speed, helps with range as well.

I have already looked at other threads in this forum, so 'I venture forth' to ask my question here:
I have a 44 minute carefully edited iMovie with several chapter markers. I dimly recollect that when you 'dump' the entire movie into iDVD (my version is 7.1) it should detect the markers and create buttons to link to specific scenes. Well, the 'dumping' process obviously doesn't work.
How do you get iDVD to recognize the markers and ceate buttons to link?
I can create with iDVD a DVD that will play the movie in its entirety. This is not suitable for my purposes. I need access via a menu to specific scenes.

I had to re-install the HD on my Mac Book Pro. I used a Time Machine back-up for all the apps and files. Most were restored, However, I cannot unlock a number of them. I tried changing the permissions using Get info but it is not working. I am using the latest version of Moutain Lion OSX.

How do I find the model number to my 15" Mac Book Pro?
I have a 15" Mac Book Pro (the one with the keyboard that matches the outer uni-body and track-pad). I am having difficulty in finding the actual model number that is associated with this machine ( as it is second hand). I found the serial number and all the other essential specifications to wit I would have interest for scheduled up-keep. The model number, however, escapes me? Could someone shed some light on this? Apologies in advance for appearing thick headed on the matter. I'm sure it is right in front of me.

I have Mac Book Pro ( bought November 2010) that I want to migrate all of the data and applications from, over to a new Mac Book Air? It was suggested that I use the Migration Tool as it is supposed to make an exact clone of the Mac Book Pro machine and put it on the Mac Boor Air. Can that really work if you are going from one platform to another?
I was also told I could restore the data from my time capsule to the MacBook Air.
I'm looking for the easiest method that will leave me with as little to do as possible to get up an running on the Mac Book Air afterwards. I'm not a real strong user and don't want to have to reconfigure applications to make them work.

Connecting your MacBook Pro and your MacBook Air will be the fastest way, but you have to spend money on cables and adapters (also, your MacBook Pro doesn't support Thunderbolt).
As you have a Time Capsule, one thing you can do is to start your MacBook Pro and make a Time Machine backup. Then, turn on your MacBook Air and set it up. Setup Assistant will ask you to restore a backup, so select the option to restore the backup from the Time Capsule and be patient. This can take a lot of time if you have to migrate a lot of files -
