Is the 1GB Crucial BallistiX PC4000 memory compatible with the K8N SLI Plat?

I know its listed as compatible on Crucials website, but does anyone here have this combo running, and if yes, at what settings?
And another question: Does the 1.1 version of the board still have the Sound Blaster Live onboard soundcard? Because on MSI's german website its listed with the realtec AC-97 onboard sound. Obviously the text is in german but the specs are "international", there you can see the onboard sound specs.

Edit: Oh, and is the Diamond worth the extra money? I mean I dont care about this "special service" or whatever its called, Im talking about features and performance compared to the Platinum.

Is the Hiper Type- R 580 modular PSU compatible with MSI K8N SLI Platinum?

Hey guys, i just recently bought a Hiper Type R 580w PSU after my old PSU went bad.
I installed the new PSU a few hours ago and came across a problem, nothing shows up on screen.
When i turn on the computer, the green light is constantly on including my dvd/rw light.
I double checked everything were connected properly and everything seemed to be connected properly.
The cpu's fan are running properly including the graphics cards and the case's fan but i can't pinpoint whats causing the the green activity light to light constantly including the dvd/rw.
I also tried resetting CMOS but it didn't fix the problem.
So now i'm starting to wonder if it's to do with compatibility issues between the Hiper Type R PSU and my K8N SLI Platinum motherboard.
So i just wanted to know if the Hiper Type R 580 PSU is compatible with the K8N SLI platinum?
I would grately appreciate any assistance.

The Hiper Type- R 580 does NOT have a -5V supply line

Can I use my old speaker system with MSI K8N SLI Diamond. My speaker system is Creative Inspire 5.1 5500D Digital with decoder. Now 5.1 sound doesn't work properly. When I try look movie with PowerDVD6, center speaker is dead and no speech on movie. On PowerDVD6, SPDIF output is selected and tried also 6.1 channel options but no, speech will not play at center speaker. Some games too 5.1 surround doesn't work. I have connected my speaker system on motherboard coaxial SPDIF to speaker systems Decoder coaxial SPDIF, and speakers on that decoder. Do I have to buy new analog speaker system to get 5.1 surround working? If I connect my speaker system directly on MB analog outputs, sound balance in very bad, rear and front speaker is good but center speaker crackling and speech at center speaker sound like volume level is much too high.

DDR 500 memory compatible with MSI K8N Neo4 Platninum?

I have a MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum PCB version 1 (S939/Nvidia NForce 4 Ultra), running the latest BIOS version. I wondered if DDR 500/PC4000 memory would work at DDR500 speeds? I note that the MSI webpage for this mobo only mentions DDR400 and in the manual, the BIOS description under "Advanced Chipset Features" - "Memclock Index Value (MHz)" says the maximum speed is 200MHz. However, when I go to this setting in my own BIOS, I can set it to 250MHz. I assume that this should give me DDR500? Would altering this "Memclock Index Value" above 200 MHz cause any other problems with FSB, CPU, HT, PCIe, PCI speeds etc. or is it completely independent? Does anyone have any recommendations of what sticks would work best (I was thinking 2 * 1024 Mb of Corsair XMS or OCZ XTC). Now that DDR2 is standard and DDR prices are creeping up, there doesn't seem to be much difference in price between DDR 400 and DDR 500 memory. Evern if my mobo can't support it, is there any merit in buying DDR 500 memory and running it at DDR 400 or intermediate speeds?

The x2 4800 would run 10x250=2500mhz.
With ddr500 it's beautifull,since you can use the cas latencies which are suited for the memory.
I have to lower my timings a bit to run them at 500mhz.Not much though,but I don't know what the long term prospect is for my memory if I maintain that for long periods of time.
As for running games,I found lower cas timings make my games run smoother opposed to the slightly higher ddr clock with slower timings.
But as mentioned,set cpu vcore 1 step higher in bios,leave the memory at auto,set cpu fsb or HTT at 250mhz,and use the default multiplier of 10 or also leave on auto.'The memory runs in spec and you wont damage it,only the cpu's get another 100mhz and should be a little bit more spicey while temps shouldn't go much higher as it is now.
The sticks should fit physically and I ran mine once at 266mhz stable,and they are just pc3200@200mhz

According to the Lion webpage, you would need to add more RAM to your computer and check to make sure you have about 7GB of free hard drive space.

I gotta give a shout out for the Corsair Value Select series also. I ran it for years in cheap systems I built for friends without any problems at all. Newegg has it pretty cheap (under $100 bucks).

Unidentified 10-12Pins inside the K8N Neo2 Plat

Hi guys,
I've just finished setting up my K8N Neo2 Plat into the case with the jumpers and cables etc. And there's sometihng interesting I discovered.
There is a set of jumpers or Pins, just above the JDB1 [D-Bracket pins] that seems to be unused and un-labelled in the Instruction manual.
The PCB has it labelled as JPC1 with a small arrow pointing downwards.
I searched thru the manual, and no sign of what it's used for.
Anyone else noticed this when they installed their board jumpers and pins?

LOL..you can pm to syar as he has the modded bios for 1C as i'm using his bios as nice and easy. But like what qyx say corecentre messing all you setting including the bios and stay away any DOT, C&Q if you're ocing your system. Better used manual way to set it in the bios. GD luck.

Better HSF for the K8N Neo Plat?

I have been looking at a few HSF's for about a month now, and I'm still not sure if I will buy it now or not but I will sooner or later, but these are the two that I have seen suggested the most, and seem to be the best (that don't sound like a vacuum):
Zalman 7000-CU= $38.50
or
Thermalright XP-90= $39.99
and keep in mind that the XP-90 doesn't come with a fan so that will be an extra $5.
So which one should I get?

Just note that you will have to remove the backplate from the Neo motherboard but if you use a plastic spatula and hair dryer it comes off very easily. Just keep firm but not hard pressure lift on the plate while using hair dryer. I was a little heavy handed and it made a sickening sound when it came off. Nothing bad to board as it was only the sticky stuff letting go.
Again, great HSF especially if you use Artic Silver5 with it. I connected mine to existing motherboard connection and used the included speed controller to slow down my 120mm input fan a little.

Just a question bout the k8n neo plat

You know that the memory controller is built into the CPU, so is it the processor that determins weather the skt 754 is dual channel? So if AMD were to release a dual channel proc, would it work on this motherboard?

No it wont and will not be made dual memory channel for 754 .
Thats one of the reasons for that 939 has increased from 754 to 939 pins (added connections to external memory sockets and internal cpu lanes)
A DDR has 184pins and add this second ddr channel to 754 and you get 938 .
(i don't know where the last pin comes in)

I'm in the process of sending my board in for RMA and I need some help finding the Serial number for my board.
Anybody know where the serial for this board is located?
On the box, or stuck onto the motherboard?
Most of you who has RMA'd the board would know where i can find it.

yup, I found it on the box, but didn't know whether it was the serial or not.
But i've taken the m/b out of the case, and saw a sticker on the back of the board.
Which has identical numbers to the ones on the box :-)

Most F3/NF4 MoBos supports X2 dual core processors with later bios updates.
MS-7125 / 1.C bios will offically support a X2 dual core processor.

I am not good at RAM setting but the 'Timings Table' shows there is XMP-1600 profile available so I believe it would be enough to turn on that memory profile in BIOS.
