Is the 3.5 headset jack for handsfree & headphones

Samsung Galaxy Note II - Sorry, but here is a really clueless question.  Is the 3.5 headset jack used for both hands-free connections and earphones for MP3?
Thanks,
Ed

I asked because I don't know for sure.  I'll contact Samsung Monday.

  • Video out headset jack

Does the video nano headset jack support video (composite) out like the ipod video does (or at least did)?
((Where you can plug a composite (red, white, yellow) to 3.5mm (four contact jack) cord from the TV to the iPod to play the video on the TV))

Big update on this. It would appear I was WRONG above, although that is because Apple is extremely poor at documentation. I love most of the Apple products and they seems like a great hardware and software company, but I have long maintained that Apple has got to be the leader in poor/misleading/missing/bad documentation and help files.
This is disappointing and it looks like the old AV cable can only be used with the Classic *in conjunction* with the doc station. See this article...
    iPod: TV out support
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300233
No longer can you use it straight out of the headphone jack. The Feature Guide lists the old style AV cable but then totally misses including a note about needing the dock for that to work. Which would mislead most reasonable people into assuming the Classic works the same as the 5th Gen with TV Out available on the headphone jack.
On a side note, the Feature guide also states the Classic works with Panther (OS 10.3.9) but I already saw a post by someone who bought one, plugged it into their 10.3.9 Mac and immediately got a pop up stating they needed 10.4 to use that iPod. Again, another serious oversight.
Makes you wonder if the Feature guide was largely written before the Classic was finalized and some specs changes, like the minimum Mac OS required.
It is a shame Apple is so poor with documentation. Sorry that I misled you on this, after being led down that path by Apple.

  • Alsa/pulseaudio - keep the same master volume for speaker&headphones

    Hello,
    I have laptop Asus N550JV.
I installed alsa ant pulseaudio (alsa-utils and pulseaudio, nothing else, no pulseaudio-alsa plugin, because I noticed that it causes me more problems rather than reduces them.
the problem is that I want to keep Master audio channel untouched. If I listen through speaker, I could set master volume to 50%, then I can plug in headphones, set volume to 100%, then I can unplug headphones, the sound will play still at 100% THROUGH SPEAKER for about 0.5 sec. and after 0.5sec it will set back to 50% as I set when I was listening through speakers.
My question is, how can I fix this problem. I see that there are 2 ways to fix this:
    1. make a lag time (delay) to switch from headphones to speakers.
    2. keep the same master audio volume for both headphones and speakers.
Any ideas? I think the second solution would be easier to make, but I dunno how

    Hi,
I am having the same problem with the ringer volume automatically being reset to some other volume. In my case the ringer volume slider under "Settings" + "Sounds" seems to be tied to the iPod speaker volume.
For example, I go in to "Settings" + "Sounds" and I set the ringer volume to maximum, I return to the home screen and then back to settings to make sure the volume is still the same (and it is), and then I go to iPod and play a track via the built-in speakers (i.e., no headphones). If I happen to change the iPod speaker volume and then stop playback and return to "Settings" + "Sounds" from the home screen I find that the ringer volume has been reset to whatever volume level I had previously set the iPod speaker volume.
I had assumed that these two volume settings were independent . Certainly, changing the ringer volume does NOT affect the iPod speaker volume, but setting the iPod speaker volume DOES affect the ringer volume.
Hopefully this is corrected in the first firmware update.
    I have an iPhone 3G.

  • On My iphone 4s i cant hear the audio when i plug in my headphones

Ever since i got my iPhone 4s every time i plug my headphones into my phone and try to listen to music or a youtube video i can barely hear the sound at all even if the volume is all the way up. I don't know what to do. The same thing happened with the other i phone 4s i had before this. Can someone please tell me how to fix it.

    Hi Liz1106,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If the audio volume is very low when using a headset, make sure you've tried all the steps from this article:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
    No sound through stereo headset
Inspect the headset jack for debris and clean if necessary.
Connect the headset and make sure the connector is pushed in all the way.
Check the volume setting. Adjust the volume by pressing the volume up and down button on the left side of the iPhone.
If you are trying to listen to music and cannot hear any audio, make sure that the music on iPhone is not paused. Try squeezing the headset microphone to resume playback. Additionally, from the Home screen you can choose iPod > Now Playing, then tap Play.
Make sure the latest version of iTunes is installed on the computer that you are syncing the iPhone with (songs purchased from the iTunes Store using earlier versions of iTunes won't play).
Try another Apple headset (some third-party headsets require an adapter to be used with original iPhone).
Try a different song or video.
Check to see if the iPhone alert sounds or other iPhone sound effects exhibit the same audio issues.
Disconnect the headset from the iPhone and see if sound comes from the built-in speaker.
If sound doesn't come from the built-in speaker either, this article can help:
iPhone: No sound or distorted sound from speaker

    All the best,

  • Does the headset jack must be closed for being able to be used underwater?

For what I know, for Xperia Z3 could be used while underwater, all the ports must be closed firmly. Is it include the headset jack? Because I didn't have the closure cap during purchasing it.Or I have to buy the closure cap separately?

    As Phy said.
Z1 , Z Ultra, Z2, Z3, Z1/Z3 Compact. All phones have exposed headset jack that is waterproof without any need for cover.
However it would be good move to let the jack dry completely before using headphones.

  • I,m looking for handsfree for iphone 4s, which one is the best for it

i,m looking for handsfree for iphone 4s, which one is the best for it

I really like the Plantronics Voyager Pro bluetooth headset.  I have tried a lot of the ones on the market and the Plantronics one that I now use has - a long battery life, excellent sound quality and very low background noise. I occasionally use it when in a vehicle (although I do try to avoid doing this) and people on the other end of the line don't even realise that I am in a car.

  • HT4241 The headset jack does not function at all.

I have a MBP 13" running os x lion 10.7.4. The headset jack does not function at all. I can hear crackling in the headphones but not acual sound. I have attempted the the PRAM reset but I guess my timing is off because I keep running into the boot menu. I have a pair of Dre. Pro's that I am using and work fine on everything else I own. Thanks for the help

    Hi y,
There is a switch inside the audio jack that may be stuck. Try gently inserting an audio plug, gently wiggling it, and then removing the audio plug.

  • G780 and Combo Jack for Headsets

I currently own a G780 with two separate jacks for the headphones and microphone, but own a headset designed for a combo jack. Is there any way to edit the settings to allow one jack to function for them both? Alternatively are there any adaptors that can split the headset's connector? I seem to only be able to find splitters for the opposite of what I need.

    hi AdroxNight,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I belive there will be no setting or options to do what you need.
As an alternative you can get these splitters
    http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Uldum-mobile-phone-headphones-computer-splitter-two-3-5mm-jack-to-one...
This splits your combojack Headphone to two male connector for mic and Sound.
    Hope this helps
    Cheers!

First we need to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info (and then System Report if you’re running 10.7 Lion). When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 model 6,1 and Mid 2010 model 7,1 White Unibody have a Mini DisplayPort. The Early 2006 model 1,1 through Early 2008 model 4,1s plus the Early and Mid 2009 model 5,2s have Mini-DVI ports. Each would take a different adapter to connect with the TV.

  • How can I remove the background sound from the headphone jack for my MacBoo

for my MacBook Air problem adding music intensifier (Panasonic ST-HT1000) to give it an unpleasant sound background that sounds like a whiz, it's not so loud, but it is an unpleasant .. after a short time can get used to, but the fizz does not pass, however, believe that it is a big problem.
Further I notice that when MacBookAir disconnected from the charger, it remains quieter sound.
At first thought that the headphone jack (3.5 mm Headphone:
Connection: 1/8-Inch Jack) or wiere have problem, but tried 3 different cables, but that does change enything, the problem remains.
When I added iPhonu3GS playing - the background sound were not, then everything is OK!
How can I remove the background sound from the headphone jack for my MacBook Air 13?

There is no way to bring that up unless you have it typed in a document. You can use My Support Profile to find a list of serial numbers that have been purchased or registered with your Apple ID.

What is the little hole next to the headphone jack for? Not the SIM card eject on the side. The similar hole near the headphone jack.

The hole on the top is your noise cancellation for phone calls and application VOIPs. It may also be used on other kinds of apps such as memos and video recordings.
