Is the 7600GT Diamond Plus really HDCP ?

Rumors says that the card is NOT HDCP Compliant, could someone clarify this please ?

Let me quote so you won't have to actually read their page at MSI. LOL
"Geforce 7600GT Chipset Features
• HDMI - High Definition Multimedia Interface Support
HDMI is a new interface standard for PCs, displays and consumer electronics devices that supports standard, enhanced and high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. It enables your PC to transmit all HDTV standards that combine HDCP-protected video at resolutions up to 1080p and 8-channel digital audio with 5 Gbps of bandwidth provided."

  • 2 'problems' with the K8N Diamond Plus

    Hi there.
I just bought a K8N Diamond Plus and I'm having some troubles installing my system in conjunction to my Decklink Extreme PCI-E ( http://www.decklink.com/products/sd/ ).
    Here's my configuration:
    MSI K8N Diamond Plus
    AMD64 X2 4400+
    ROSEWILL 6600GT PCI-E VGA
    Decklink Extreme PCI-E
    2GB  RAM ( 2 x 1gb) Kingston
    OCZ-520 12U Modstream Power Supply
    plus 6 HD's (7200rpm) and 1 DVD-+RW
The problem is, when I try to initialize the system with the Decklink, which it's a PCI-E 1x, it just don't boot. Neither putting the Decklink on the 1x, nor in the 4x slot and nor in the 16x.
The Decklink is working just fine in another system and doesn't seem to be a problem with this card.
I wondered if there's any limitation in the K8N Diamond Plus with working with the ROSEWILL 6600GT PCI-E VGA plus the Decklink.
    =======================
The other thig is that when I take off the Decklink, the system boots normaly but a message appears while booting: "Not enough space to copy PCI option ROM 00:13:00".
And I don't have a clue about what's going on.
    =======================
Please enlighten me with this questions if possible.
    Thank you very much.
    Greets.
    Igor Bineli

Remove the battery away for 10 minutes, clear CMOS, start the system to load setup/optimized defauts in bios setup. After that, disable all onboard items in bios setup that you won't to use.  Save and exit.
Plug ROSEWILL 6600GT PCI-E VGA card,  and start your system to check if there is the error message. If there is, borrow another brand VGA card to do a test.
Besides, update your MB bios and driver version to the latest one.

Hi there. Does anybody know phisical dementions of the NX7600GT Diamond Plus and NX7600GS-MTD256E? I'am starting to build my HTPC and have concerns how long those cards are and if they will fit in my Zalman 160 case? Thank you in advance for respond.

    Funbringer,
    Here is the NX7600GS-MTD256E.

  • Water cooling and the K8N Diamond Plus...

I have a water cooled DFI mobo atm and I want to change it to the K8N Diamond Plus and I noticed that the board has a heat pipe on the northchip and on some other component. My question is this; I want to put a water block on the northchip but I don't know if I can. Can I safely remove the heat pipe setup to put a water block on the north chip and if I do what about the other component that the heatpipe was covering? I hope I wasn't to confusing in the explanation.

    Hello !!
You will need two Waterblocks, one for the north- second one for the southbridge.
There should be no Problems mounting the blocks if the mounting holes fit the mainboard.
You can easily remove the Heatpipe. You have to squeeze those nipples togehter tha are on the backside of the board. You can do it manually but you can also use a cylindric tool to squeeze them together. I cut a plastic pen i the half, and pushed it on those mounting latches carefully.
          ___|\        half pen
    latch___          <----
              |/      ___________
After this procedure the Heatpipe is only held from the thermal grease on the chipset.

  • 7600GT Diamond plus

I am interested to buy the above product. But i notice the card does not have HDCP. Does that mean it cant play hdcp media. is it hdcp done can be supported through software??

From what I understand this particular 7600GT card is HDCP compliant, whereas the older 7600GT cards from MSI(pre "diamond plus") are not.  I'm guessing thats why they made this nearly identical card to the older versions.  I'm not 100% sure though.
Oh...I'll add my own questions too about the card as I'm somewhat interested in it:
Does it have full TV out functionality?  (Do ALL the TV out ports work?  i.e. composite / s-video / component y-pr-pb)
Does the default MSI driver work for all of the above?
Does it pass the Windows logo testing when you attempt to load a driver?
If you hook multiple TVs up to the card do the signals bleed into eachother?
Can you play a DVD on your TV with this card?
Just to check because ive had all of the above issues with my last two nvidia 7-series cards.
    One more...
How does it compare to the 7900gt (my current vga) in terms of overall performance and compatibility?
Basically would this only be a slight, unnoticable "downgrade", so to say, for my games and movies?
    thanks for any info
    ~Mike~

  • Where are the K8N Diamond Plus Boards

I ordered my board from Tiger Last week.  Was told they on back orderd...
Went to newegg.com  .... out of stock.
Checked about 3 other places I go and they are out of stock.  I want a retail box for the MSI Warrantee and all the extras they give you with the board.
Is there a problem with production??

Those are not OEM....no way....as MSI doesn't make Diamond Plus OEM boards.....
However, MSI does warrant those boards in full if you can show a proof-of-purchase.
    These are NOT OEM.
Anyway, if you don't need the cables and stuff, it's a good deal.
OEM boards have different numbers and BIOS, they are not the same.
If what you said is true, and if I could "buy" the plate for the back of the computer I would do it.

  • 7600GT Diamond Plus / NX7300GS-MD256EH, and the analog audio ?

Ok, I know that HDMI is meant for video AND digital audio, but I'm a little perplexed.
If I hook up the HDMI from both the mentioned VGA, and the MB has only optical out, there's no way to get the audio out..., if I use a DVI > HDMI adapter I can use the analog stereo out, but as soon as I pop out the cable from the DVI adapter and plug it in the HDMI out of the VGA, the audio is excluded from the line out...
So I MUST have an MB with coaxial spdif ?
Dunno if this is MB related, an Intel DG965WH, that has only the optical spdif.
    waiting for the light...

the sad thing with the xfi is that you can hear what its trying to do but the pops and other noises you get spoil it way too much. on creatives forum there have been many posts on suggested solutions none have worked on my diamond motherboard+ the promiss of a driver fix. latest diddnt fix it.creative now say the blame is on the n force 4  motherboards though many users of other motherboards are saying they also have the same problems.not to sure what nvidia have to say but i dont hold much hope in creative fixing it. new motherboard bios   might thuough.i have to say i think they are best avoided unless you can borrow  one and check it works ok in your pc. ps my xfi isnt sharing any irqs but i still have sound issues.

  • Looking to Purchase the KN8 Diamond Plus

Wife is being generous this year and allowing me to have our tax refund to build a budge machine which will be mostly geared towards gaming. One question I have about the above Mobo is on newegg is states it has 2x16 PCIE whereas the MSI site lists it as 1x16. Which is correct? The system I have configured and am looking at purchasing is with the following hardware
    KN8 Diamond +
    AMD Athlon 62 3700+ SanDiego
    2 each MSI NX7800GT-VT2D256E cards
    OCZ Titanium 2GB (2x1GB) DDR SDRAM 400 3-2-3-5
and finally 2 SATA 2 Drives. Right now looking at Seagate but am open to suggestions. The rest of the hardware will come from a previous machine. I have the Thermaltake 560 W w/Active PFC at present and can upgrade this if it needs to be.
    Thanks for any help/suggestions

As for the PCI-E they are both 16X on the Plus, not that it matters since there is more bandwidth then any current Vid Card can use, so there is little difference in performance.
    No doubt.
Single card AGP bus isn't that close to being saturated either. No matter what the card companies would have you think.
Must not be that close - because speculation is high that Nvidia is supposedly going to release a 7800 series card for AGP sometime in February....
Whether or not this actually happens & just how much they "cripple" it like the AGP version of the 6800GS remains to be seen.

    That's correct :-) I think it's 1.2 but not sure

  • NX7600GT Diamond Plus Questions

    Hey Everyone,
My questions today are about the  NX7600GT Diamond Plus video card. I am thinking about building a Home Theater PC and I was looking at the MSI 7600GT Diamond Plus card, because of the HDMI port.  Does this port besides carrying video carry sound as well? if so what kind is it, 2 CH, Digital, etc.? If it doesn't any recommends on cards that will carry very good sound quality out?  Also, are there any benefits to having two of these cards instead of one, other then having two 7600 GTs for playing games?  Finally, if I play a DVD on my computer(which is encrypted) and run the HDMI cable from the card to a DVD player/recorder, will I be able to record the movie or will copyright bs problems occur?  Sry for all the noob questions, but I am new to the HTPC arena.
    Thanks

    Hello
I currently own this card and might be able to answer your questions.
This card will send digital S/PDIF sound through the hdmi port if your motherboard or sound card has spdif cababilities.  This can be done one of two ways.  Option A:  If you have an internal header off of your mobo/soundcard you can use the supplied internal spdif cable.  Option B:  If you don't have an internal header (I don't and use this method) you can use the supplied RCA pass-through cable conecting the RCA end to your spdif out and the other end to the VGA.  Aside from being able to SLI them and increase the performance of some programs there is no advantage to having two as you will only be able to use the ports on one.
I'm not entirely sure about being able to copy a movie.  I wasn't aware that there were any DVD recorders with HDMI inputs on the market.  If you have a standard definition DVD (not Blue-ray or HD-DVD) you probably shouldn't run into any copyright problems.  However I've found that many DVDs will refuse to play on my computer if a TV out port is activated, you may or may not run into this with the HDMI port.  This isn't card specific, from talking with tech support this is apparently present on all nvidia 7-series cards.
Overall I was really impressed with how this card handled the digital sound, but was not impressed with the quality of the HDMI video signal.  The signal was being overscanned, and looked horrible in comparison to the analogue signal from my card.  This is really no surprise considering this is the first ever HDMI card.  Theres always going to be bugs at first.  If you're planning on building an HTPC I would suggest using the plain old RGB (15 pin analogue) if your HDTV has the input (most do).  You won't run into any DRM restrictions using this method and the quality difference (versus DVI) is hardly, if at all, noticable on today's HDTVs and projectors.

  • NX7600GT Diamond Plus and fan speed with Dual Core Center

I just got a NX 7600GT Diamond Plus for my HTPC. I noted that Riva Tuner and other utilities are not able to control the fan speed of the video card. The only way one can control the fan speed is via Dual Core Center and 3D Core Cell. The problem is that the default setting for fan speed on Dual Core Center is too high and clearly audible. How can I get Dual Core Center to start with user defined presets during windows start-up/boot-up ?
What I want to do is to put the fan into 'SILENT' mode automatically during Dual Core Center start-up. Any ideas / suggestions ?

Quote from: BOSSKILLER on 17-January-07, 00:44:11
well no need to edit manually, MSI provided everythink in easy way from core center.
select advanced mode, create your custom profile pickup your desired settings,(setup maximum FAN RPM via buttons) and save it to custom profile.
suggest you to read help section from program.
So the custom profile is automatically loaded every time DualCoreCenter starts up ? Maybe there is something wrong with my install of DCC, I cannot get it to load custom profiles automatically upon startup. I can save the changes to say "User Profile 1" but the profile active on startup always is the "default" profile ...

  • K8N Diamond Plus & Asus EN7800GT Dual ?

    Howdy!
Bought one of the Asus Dual 7800GT graphics cards (two GPUs on one board) and was using it with the Asus SLIx16 mobo, the A8N32-Sli.  Problem with using that motherboard is that the card only worked properly on the bottom PCIe socket (furthest from the CPU) - when using it in the top PCIe socket, only one of the two GPUs registered in Device Manager.
I figured I'd switch over to the K8N Diamond Plus and see if that works better (I'm only considering SLIx16 mobos, as my plan is to get another of these cards later on and experiment with Quad GPUs, hence the need for the extra PCI lanes) - has anyone tried this motherboard with the Asus card?

Quote from: pibrahim on 25-January-06, 21:46:50
That's very odd, that MSI boards work so differently from Asus.
Problem is that the dual-GPU card won't work properly in the top slot and I really needed it to be in the bottom.  Not sure what exactly I can do about that now...
Toms hardware did a review on this.
The card shows up in the primary slot as 1 gpu, then you add a second card it shows up as a 3 gpu system.  THe first card says 1 gpu, but operates as a two gpu.
Look up the card on new egg, there is a link to the reviews of it some where in there.
