Is the apstore the only way to download facetime for my MacPro?

I don't have snow leopard...though it seems as though apple is forcing my hand going forward with Facetime and Lion being sold through apstore. Is there another way?

I disagree. It is still forcing me to upgrade twice. I upgraded from jaguar to tiger and skipped panther because there was enough of a reason at that point to convince me that checking all of the 3rd party conflicts and making sure everything was compatible, etc was worth it. I didn't update to snow leopard because I didn't see a good enough reason to do so when everything is working fine now...
While I know technology must move fast and upgrades are a inevitable, I am really getting peaved by the arrogance that apple exudes lately. Their quickness to discard PCI ports on desktops, firewire from laptops (briefly) to discontinuing hard copies of software operating systems... they can make transitions a little less painful on people and phase things out instead of completely alienating their existing customer base.
Sorry for the ranting.

Hi! So I haven't used iTunes in a few months but I just got an iTunes gift card and want to make a purchase. iTunes redeemed it just fine but now that I want to make a purchase I am having problems. I can't remember my security question answers and iTunes is requesting them. I have two other verified emails but the are NOT rescue emails. I can't contact iTunes over the phone because my phone lines are out and are going to be out for a long time. The only way I can contact them is by email. How can I do this? Reminders are not appearing in Mail - and its the only way to set labels for flags.

Every place I look for information about how to set the labels for flags in Mountain Lion Mail shows that they're editable once you click "show" next to "REMINDERS" in the sidebar. However, my sidebar has no "REMINDERS" heading, and there seems to be no preference or option anywhere related to this. I upgraded from Snow Leopard today; I had reminders showing (as "To Do's"). I really really want to change the labels on the flags because they're useless otherwise.
Am I the only one with this problem?

Flags and reminders are no longer coupled in Mountain Lion. So I'll try to explain how to see your flagged messages.
You can see a sidebar in Mail that looks like this. Yours may not display the "Flagged" row yet. I'll explain that in a minute, If you don't see this sidebar, make it visible by clicking that arrow on top that would say "Show" if the sidebar were invisible (it says "Hide" here):
You can flag a message by clicking the "Flag Selected Message" in your favorites bar, which should appear just above the screenshot. Once you have at least one flagged message, the "Flagged" row shown above will appear.

Is this really the only way to download a CD to iTunes? It's way too slow...

Hi, I have tons of CDs I want to upload into iTunes using my new Dell computer. I just inserted my first CD. It has 11 songs and says it will take 39.8 minutes and is taking as long to download each song as it does to listen to it. This is not going to be possible to do with hundreds of CDs I have. Should I go back to using my Microsoft Media Player? That takes just a few seconds to download on. I don't understand why iTunes takes for eternity....been over 20 minutes barely through the first half of the fist CD...will take years at this pace. Thoughts??? Did you go through this too? I already give up after midway through my first CD, can't use itunes if it's going to take this long to transfer my music onto it...

I have ios 5.1.1. When I sync to iTunes, my purchased apps no longer work. They blink but do not open. The only way I have been able to solve this, is as follows: I delete one of the apps and then re-download and install it. Then, all my apps work.

I agree it was not all communicated real well, but in your case it will work out. You missed the program where you could have upgraded 100 tracks for 30 cents each (=$30) but now you can do it via Match (=$25). It works pretty simply, per this document:

You need to delete the original DRM song from your library first. Doing this enables you to download the song again in the iTunes Plus format from iTunes in the Cloud.

Click Music.
Locate the artist of the song you want to upgrade.
Click the iCloud Download icon next to the song you want to upgrade.
Just don't forget to put the Plus files on your hard drive -- properly backed up of course -- and to cancel the Match subscription before the second year rolls around!

You can create an install disc but you would have to download Mountain Lion to do so..

If using a Mac, use Migration Assistant to move your iTunes library from old computer to new. Afterwards you can sync from your new computer to your iPod.

When I thing of the Thousands of dollars I have spent to get a 2000 song library and how Applle keeps screwing Windows users (no back-up of songs) I just think what a fool I was.

I did think about that and if I have to I will do that, however there are about 50 songs. I have closed and reopened iTunes several times and I am sure that I have the latest version. It fails right away but I can click on the cloud download icon and download the song that it failed on ... therefore it is not that song "or any one song" causing the issue. Any ideas?

TV shows will only appear in the cloud if you are in a country where they can be re-downloaded from the store (you can't add them yourself), in which case they will appear in the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app for re-downloading. But they will only appear there if you are in a country where they can be re-downloaded, and then only as long as the TV company leaves them in the store (content providers occasionally remove their items).

Have you checked to see if the deleted file is still in the recycle bin. If so you can restore it and add it back into the library. If it is on an iPod or iOS device it could be transferred back to your library. As Steve says audiobooks from the iTunes store are currently supplied on a one time only basis, unlike most other purchases. Hopefully the position with audiobooks will change too over time. In the meantime you could Contact Support and explain the circumstances surrounding your error. They may be able to grant an exception and resupply your missing audiobook.

I realise you can you can delete them on your ipod slowly as you have to click on each one, and you can restore your ipod, but surely there is a way to get around this?

I'm going to assume the consolidating files does not work due to hard drive space limitations.
Since you're moving to Windows 7, have you tried using the Windows files and settings transfer utility? That will move everything for you to the same location on the new computer, it also allows some control over what actually gets moved.
Alternatively, if you know the location of all of the media, it can be manually moved by copying it from the old computer to the new computer in the same location.
Also, using the Apple article on moving the library, take a slight twist on what it says. Move the iTunes library to the external drive, update the settings in iTunes to reflect the library being on the external drive, then consolodate it.
The options are endless for moving the library... it simply takes a little effort to make it happen and possibly a twist on existing "standard" methods depending on your unique situation.

Hello cor-el, thanks for your reply. I changed my settings for downloads to desktop and it has appeared on there. When I double click I am asked which program I want to open file. I click firefox and another box "opening install" says I have chosen to open the file which is an application and do I want to save it. This is the only real option so I press save file. I get a box saying this is an executable file which may contain viruses - do you want to run. I press ok and the final box showing C drive file name and desktop appears stating application not found.
This happens the same whenever I try to install.
To my untrained eye the application is not being recognised as an application and I cannot work out how to get it to do that.
My plugin is still showing as out of date.
Is there anything you could suggest. Thanks for your time.
