Is the audio sync bug (related to custom clip speeds) still present in iMovie 11?

Is the audio sync bug (related to custom clip speeds) still present in iMovie 11? I encountered it in 09 and was wondering if it was fixed in the latest version.

I haven't encoutered since iMovie '09.
You can always call Applecare as ask if there have been reports to engineering.

  • WHEN WILL THE MUSIC SYNCING BUG IN IOS7 BE FIXED?

WILL AN **APPLE REP** PLEASE REPLY ??
My library randomly skips songs after upgrading to IOS7.3.  This is probably not related to Mavericks, as Windows users are complaining about the same issue. I have tried ALL of the suggested fixes, wasting many hours of time needlessly dealing with this issue. The music syncing bug with IOS7 is completely unacceptable.
I have unsynced, re-synced, made a playlist with all of my tracks, done a full restore, and transferred purchases.  After it seemingly copies all of my songs over, it still skips random tracks when I shuffle my songs.  I then connect to iTunes, go to devices->transfer purchases, it copies the songs that were skipped, and then other songs skip.
THIS IS SOMETHING WHICH USED TO WORK AND NOW IS BROKEN.
There have been threads on this issue since at least October.  Why has this not been addressed ? Music playback is a core feature of IOS devices.  I have spent quite a bit of money actually buying music from Apple on my phone, and  cannot listen to it.  Is this just a ploy to force everyone to pay for iTunes Match (which would probably not work anyway?) I have been an Apple user for over 20 years, and this is really disconcerting.  I hate to say it, but if Steve Jobs were still around, heads would have rolled over this issue by this point.  All the pretty icons and UI tweaks in the world are less important than actual working functionality. What has become of AAPL ?

No, this is a user-to-user forum. If you want to speak to Apple Technical Support folks, you'll either need to make an appointment at the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or call them directly. Use the Contact Us link at the bottom right of every page.

If you think getting your web pages to appear OK in all the major browsers is tricky then dealing with email clients is way worse. There are so many of them.
If you want to bulk email yourself, there are apps for it and their templates will work in most cases...

This one will create the form, database and send out the emails...

The alternative is to use a marketing service if your business can justify the cost. Their templates are tested in all the common email clients...

  • Why is the audio option not showing on merge clips?

On Adobe Premiere Pro CC (up to date, running OSX 10.8.5), when I select an audio clip and a .mov clip and attempt to use the audio sync seen in several tutorials, that option is not available. I only see in points, out points, time code and clip marker for syncronize points. Are there only certain file types that can be synced this way or is there a setting I'm missing?

    Hello
I have the exact same question. Can anyone out there advise please? Does merge only work linking certain types of audio files to mov files?

  • I want to clip an voiceover audio track to seperate the audio into two tracks. How do I do that in iMovie 09?

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to take one voiceover audio track and seperate into two tracks so I can have a timed pause in between the two tracks. In HD I could clip the audio tracks and move them. What can I do in iMovie 09?
    Thank you

I would duplicate the project. Then delete everything except the portion with the VoiceOver.
Then Share/Export Using QuickTime as Sound to AIFF. Then edit it in GarageBand.

  • Adobe premiere elements 10 audio sync bug (mpeg2)

    Hi
Right im trying out diffrent video editing software and reviewing them. There is an annoying bug or flaw when it comes to importing mpeg2 files. The audio track becomes delayed about 1 sek after a while, its synced in the beginning and the get out of sync at the end of the clip. I tried the same mpeg2-files on other video editors including: Pinnacle studio, Vegas, Corel Studio, Cyberlink Powerdirector and the audio is perfectly synced all the way.
So, obviously its a problem/bug related to Adobe. I remember I had similar problems with Premiere pro and compressed videos, audio tracks dissapearing etc.
Im gonna try the trial for Premiere Pro to see if it has the same problem as elements.
Besides this, I kind of liked the interface and workflow in the program. So its bad that it cant handle a common compressed format such as mpeg2 that all other popular editors out there can.
    Kind Regards,
    Jonas

Well, with licensed modules, like CODEC's, and plug-ins, it is often just an "activation" issue. Rather than for the NLE company, whether CyberLink, Magix, Adobe, et al, to just give the fee to the licensing agent (say MPEG-LA) for every copy of the program, whether trial, or full-price, they limit the trial versions, and then with their full-paid version, the user will activate that module, and this normally happens transparently. When the module gets activated, the licensing organization gets notice, and then back-charges the NLE software company.
This sort of thing was carried to the extreme with the Pinnacle Studio programs, where "samples" of every conceivable module was included in the program. However, those were just previews, and could not be used, until the user contacted Pinnacle, and then bought an unlock code for each module (often sold in packages). The program cost around US $ 100, but to unlock all modules, it would cost about US $ 500 additional. As there was nothing but unlock keys, the user had to guard those well - no discs, or media. Also, Pinnacle did a fair job of keeping records of users' keys, though some did get lost over time. Also, keys did not always work version to version, so an upgrade could render key purchases useless.
With the DD 5.1 SS Minnetonka Audio SurCode plug-in for PrPro, things are slightly different. Adobe includes a limited version of that encoder plug-in - the user gets three trials of it. To activate the plug-in, beyond those three uses, the user must buy the key from Minnetonka, and it's now about US $ 300. Most of that cost goes to Dolby Labs, and in this case, Minnetonka just sort of is the "banker," sending the $ to Dolby, when they SELL that plug-in key.
Different companies handle "trials" differently. Some, like the Minnetonka SurCode, give limited, unencumbered uses. Some limit by time, and give unencumbered use, during that time. Some use a watermark, or similar, until the user buys it, and then the watermarks are uncoupled. Some just limit the features in the trial, and those limitations are lifted, when one buys. There are pluses and minuses to each scheme. However, each is designed to let a user try something, and no royalties are paid, until they buy it.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

    Codec : icod
I generally defer to folks like QuickTimeKirk on these sorts of matters, but I think that's the source of the problem. That's the Apple Intermediate Codec, an editing codec used on Macs:

... and it won't display on a PC:

Can the provider of the file re-export it using a different video codec for you?

Open the movie in the QuickTime Player and Select Export -> Sound to AIFF.
Drop the exported AIFF file into iTunes.
Make sure the iTunes CD Import Settings in Prefs is set to the MP3 encoder.
Right-Click on the AIFF file in the iTunes Library display and select Create MP3 Version.

  • IMovie 11 export audio sync bug - URGENT

I've read up the other threads, I've tried detaching audio, I've tried 'Optimizing' all my clips, and nothing works. My imported MP4s are simple and undemanding, my cutaways equally simple, I've done NO speed changing, and still the audio and video sync drifts out, to the extent that the last half of my 10 minute video is unwatchable 8-(
And, to PROVE it's a bug in the latest iMovie 11 update, I went back and re-exported a project from just before Christmas. And THAT now exports with sync issues too, whereas at the time it was 100% perfect.
Is there a way to roll back iMovie 11 to before the update? I do have a Time Machine backup of my Mac....
Either way, Apple PLEASE pull your finger out - this is a CRITICAL bug as far as I'm concerned.
    Steve

I am not sure you guys are quite understanding my imovie concept. Sure you do not need to change the speed settings for you're movie, but it's the easiest way to convert the clips to be fully compatible with the project. Just try converting the clips (double clicking each clip and clicking on convert) and tell me if that does not work for you. Trust me. Try it before you leave a comment saying that you dont need speed changes....
I don't see any convert option. When I double click the clip, the inspector HUD pops up. It has 3 tabs, "Clip", "Video", "Audio". None of them have an option to convert. Do I have to enable some advanced feature for this?
Furthermore, other folks have suggested a File->Optimize->Full.
For the videos that I am working on, both the Full and Large options are grayed out -- I can't click on either.
I tried for some recent iPhone videos and I could "Optimize" them, but like I said, my problem of out-of-sync is with some old videos.

  • 32bit floating point is the audio sync problem

    Hi,
just thought I post this solution.
We are working on a HD project (1h), ProRes422(HQ) setting, 48kHz. The footage was shot with EX-3.
When we got the sound back from the mix (WAV, 48kHz) is showed up in the finder as correct duration, but once placed into the timeline is shrunk and ended up too short (about 3sec) and hence the sync was lost.
Next step was getting a AIFF bounced out from the Sound Guys, but same problem.
Changing to other sequence settings didn't help. We tried Sony EX, uncompressed etc. Also looked at all render settings but our system is MacPro with 10GB Ram, so speak isn't the issue.
I then ended up importing it into Soundtrack Pro and output another AIFF 2ith 32bit floating point - problem solved. No its on duration and in Sync.
    Cheers Alex

I'll run through it again along the lines you suggest. Hardware should be good enough. 15" Retina, i7, 16GB RAM, discrete graphics, etc, but I like the idea of copying the card completely. The drive I use is a G-RAID Thunderbolt striped as a 0, so yes, it's an external. Optimized media as Apple Prores 422 behaves just the same. When you view the waveform and the picture, single-framing through the clip, you see and hear they are not in sync.
Thanks, Ben. I'll report back. If your friend's works, it may be the camera. I have a case number with Panasonic in case that's possible, and I'll try an import into Premiere CC, though I don't use that personally.
(The DVX100 Audio Sync Tool was a thing, but it was a long time ago in a galaxy buried underneath our own. It came as an optional install on the DVD for FCP 4 for sure, but I may have used it with 3.0.)

  • Trying to send the audio of a example.dv video clip as .mp3 through mail.

I imported a video clip and I need to send just the audio as an .mp3 through an email. The video file is a ( .dv ) How do I do this? Need a quick reply too.
    joshua

    Hi Jomala,
open iMovie, create a New Project. In File menu, choose "Import" and select your .dv file. It will appear in iMovie as a clip. Put your clip in the iMovie timeline.
In iMovie, Advanced menu, choose "Extract Audio".
Close iMovie and save your project.
Now, if you look in the "Media" folder of this new project folder created by iMovie, you' ll find a AIFF file (I think it's named "voice 01").
Open iTunes and in iTunes preference, Advanced, set "Importing" to mp3 encoder.
Drag your AIFF file into iTunes, select it and choose "Convert selection to mp3" in the Advanced menu of iTunes. It creates a new mp3 version of the sound file that you can drag and drop on your desktop then send by email.

The project label now carries signal with yellow triangled exclamation “i tunes out of date”.
To solve the sync problem I’m following advice and detaching sound from all of the 100 or so short clips.  This operation has been stalled by the spinning ball. Shut down restart has not helped.
The Project is mounted from Iomega and superspeed ext hd connected to imovie09 on macosx 10.5.8.
What to do to resume repairs to the audio sync problem and so successfully share for youtube upload?

I too have the same problem.  The audio drop out of sync in about 5 sec in not uncommon for the audio to be 30+ sec behind video.  Apple needs to fix this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   its a joke,  my iphone is all messed up after the last update as well.  at one time not to long ago apple products and software were top rated, not so much any more, more and more problems are showing up and apple is unwilling or unalbe to fix the many issues.  Apple needs to fix the audio sync problem, it not the computer hardware or other software it ITUNES!!!!,  there is no workaround other then hitting pause and hitting pause and hitting pause to temp fix the problem.

  • Panasonic DVX-100 audio sync tool not showing up in the tools menu

Using FCP 7 in new Mac Pro with a clean install. I following the directions for copying the DVX-100 audio sync file into the proper folder /Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro System Support/Plugins/
The directions say the Offset Audio Sync command should now appear in the Tools menu. It does not.
I have tried trashing preferences - reinstall the Audio Sync Tool - but it still does not show up.
I use the Panasonic Camera and with my earlier editions of FCP I had no problem installing and using
    the Audio Sync file.
Anyone have the same problem or know a solution?
    Thanks

I am not sure what's happening with IE9 (no live site) but I had real problems viewing your code in Live View - until I removed the HTML comment marked below. Basically your site was viewable in Design View but as soon a I hit Live view, it disappeared - much like IE9. See if removing the comment solves your issue.

  • Exported Final Cut XML from Imovie09 causes loss of Audio Sync

I have recently upgraded to ILife09 and tried a process that always worked in ILife08 but now get Audio Sync problems.
I have created an Imovie project that is 2hours and 50 mins long and wanted to export it to Final Cut Express as XML. This used to work 100% with Imovie08. However, with this latest version of Imovie, when exported to Final Cut Express, the first 45 mins of the XML movie is well out of sync (Audio / Visual).
    Has anyone experienced this?

    Hi Roberic,
there is a bug in iMovie '09 that causes loss of audio sync when you use custom slow/fast motion. This has been experienced by many users. See for example this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9152271
I don't know if this applies to exports to .xml but it could well be that your problem lies here. There are some workarounds, being the easiest one to only use what the slow motion slider snaps to instead of entering custom speed percentages.
