Is the batery of 12" g4 iBook ever under warranty?

My daughter's iBook purchased last October developed a non-charging issue. First it would charge part way and then none. The Genius's first replaced the power cord, then the power adapter, and finally the motherboard. Now after being at Apple for 2 weeks, she is told that it is the battery and the battery is not under warranty. Should not the battery be the first suspect. And did the battery die in Apple's caring hands? And now thay say it isn't under warranty.
Eight months old and less than 100 hours running on the battery alone!?
What gives?

I did not know that batteries weren't under warranty, but they should be. Apple had a battery exchange program a while back for certain laptops. Judging by the time of your purchase, I don't think yours would fall into this category. I bought mine last August and thankfully no issues yet. I did purchase a new battery from eBay just to have as a backup. It only cost me $40. I hope everthing works out for your daughter.   • My WIFI keeps on disconnecting and even after reporting and suggestion by support the phone hasnt been replaced or repaired under warranty

    I think I have had enough. So its been a long time back and forth between me and you. Since I am not getting any solution and same thing you guys are providing me again and again.
    I want to take a step back and list down a few things which have happened so far :-  
    I started chatting with the apple support on this issue starting September - please refer back to your chats on this Serial Number.
    I have factory reset my phone like 20 times since then as each time they asked me to follow few steps which made me loose my data as your icloud doesn't work properly as stated by your customer care support people itself that sometimes the back up doesn't happen so please take back up at your laptop too.
    Send phone diagnostics by clicking on a link.
    reset your WIFI settings
    Call apple support after 24 hours of observation.
    Next day when same issue occurs then extreme Apology.
    Take Back up on computer and Icloud both and contact apple support once its done
    Call apple support again.
    Factory Reset by erase all contents and setting options. Once one call back again.
    wait and analyse for a whole day after setting up apple ID and data.
    Wifi Issue stil exists.
    Call apple support again
    Between all this I had to explain the issue each time to a new representative. This above process I have gone through at least 7-8 times. Please go and refer your call notes.
    So finally i got to know after escalating it several times and one of your supervisors told me that the issue is a hardware issue and it can only be replaced as they have tried it all.
    Supervisor assured me that he has recommended it to be replaced in notes and asked me to visit a center.
    I called in local distributor and set up an appointment, unfortunately couldnt make it. So call them to reschedule as I am working women so i dont have all the time in life to keep interacting with associate after associate so thought of walking in to an apple store near by and lodge a complaint. The supervisor updated me that I have warranty left and it will be replaced without any cost and also if i report and issue in warranty and if apple is not able to resolve it so the warranty stands true until its completely resolved after customer's consent.
    I went in to give my phone to the tech support and they kept it for analysis and came back saying the issue doesnt exist. I was getting a disconnection in my WIFI every now and then. My Data plan was always used and i fortunately have a proof of that.
    Customer rep told me talk to apple support and if they say we will replace it. One more place added where customer has to go.
    Now and back to square one - They say phone is damaged - we cant replace it. First of all the phone is not damaged and you guys are just finding reasons to not replace a faulty phone.
    It randomly disconnects and its listed as a known issue on your website too. had this not been listed i would have never thought its the phone. Then I started to observe that its the phone that makes a disconnection and not the WIFI connections as it was everywhere home, office and at friends place.
    Best i can do is call you guys when this happens if you guys promise me that the tech employee of apple can come to whatever location i suggest at that point and do not be surprised if the phone behaves normal when the person arrives as its random.
    Now you want pictures of my phone and you want to analyse further.

    After making an appointment and waiting over a week I was a few minutes late for my appointment I was told by apple I would have to make a new appointment. The shop was Chatswood in Sydney and the manager Mathew was very pathetic. I travelled 1 hour each way and was treated very poorly I must comment and say this was my first Apple devices and I will never understand how come people are buying these devices. The apps seem really good if only the hardware and the support could match. I really wish this manager all his best to Matthew in his next position somewhere else he obviously should not be in the position of managing an Apple store.

    Hey Arthurjm, you never really stated that you have a problem, assuming your headphones / earbuds stopped working one or both sides not producing sound, if it is determined by Apple that the reason they stopped working is due to a defect in manufacturing and not from abusive usage-- miss handling, something you have done-- and you are within the 1 year from purchase date, then yes Apple will replace your Apple headphones / earbuds free of charge. Seeing as you are in Indonesia with no local Apple store and it is 4 May and your warranty runs out 11 May-- Good luck, because time it not on your side. Try Illaass' link or at least contact Apple online or by phone and get a repair ticket started you may be able to beat the cut off date on your warranty. If the headphones / earbuds have to be in Apples hands before the warranty runs out, you may be out of luck. Hope this helps. Good luck, Cheers.

    Apple does not offer any sort of ibooks/epub reader for OSX , but there are 3rd party apps available and even freeware to import/export from pdf into epub,mobi,kindle and vice versa ( google "calibre" +"epub" ) . I personally love this Mac app called "BookReader" ( MacAppStore ) , which resembles the iOS ibook experience to the best in my oppinion . If Apple would have had such a tool it would most certainly be of this sort  :

    I quite often want to read books that are not available in the UK iBookstore. These books are almost always available from another UK publisher in ePub format, but with Adobe DRM. So I now use another ebook reader app that supports Adobe DRM.
    The other library is now bigger than the one in iBooks and I have transferred all my non-DRM ebooks and .pdfs into it too. I keep iBooks going for my iBookstore purchases, but I mostly use the new reader. This is a shame. I found iBooks and the iBookstore really easy to use, and the integration with my Apple ID and backup on sync really convenient.
    Will iBooks ever support Adobe DRM so that I can go back to keeping everything in iBooks?

    I am an avid reader of ibooks on my iPad 2 and iPhone 4. I also have a macbook pro and would love to have my books be readable on my laptop. This is especially important because of the release of textbooks and interactivce content within iBooks. It seems to me that there would be a huge market for college/high school students who would buy more text books through iBooks if there was support on their laptops. Any help would be appreciated.     Hi,
    Yes you are miss understanding the problem.  To clarify. The problem is not how to delete the book from a device, it is how to delete the puchase (i.e. the history).  You can hide it in your account settings, but you cannot delete it. So if you buy something on a shared account (i.e. a family account like mine), your children can see and download any of your puchases - forever.
    Some will say it's for your protection.  A bit like the shop looking after your receipt, so that you cannot lose it.
    However, I thought that as part of the data protection act, you could ask for this information kept about you to be deleted, but this doesn't apply to Apple purchases.  Believe me I've tried.

  • So earlier today I updated to the newest version of itunes and ever since I've been having problems syncing devices. I have plugged my iphone in and it will say its sync in the menu list on the left side of itunes but isn't working

    I downloaded the newest version of itunes and ever since I've been having problems. When I connect my iphone to itunes, it will say its synced up, however when i'm trying to add music its just not allowing it to happen.
    Also when I try to restore the Iphone or check for updates, It says connect via USB to check for updates or restore. The same with attemting to sync apps
    I've reinstalled itunes several times and removed and reinstalled my portable devices. And still nothing. When I first plug the iphone in, it will to that auto play Windows 7 does and allows pictures to be saved onto the PC.
    It seems like the syncing is working with some things and now others. Any idea's would be delightful??

    I feel its more of my sync drivers for itunes/iphone not working if that makes sense. Its not my itunes that stops responding, its more of that if the phone syncs up it fails to anything further.
    I've tried sync another iphone to the same itunes and windows autoplayer will allow the photos sorted on the iphone to be saved to the laptop but itunes won't even recongise the device is plugged in.

    That's correct. You will need to open the PDF in Safari first, then tap Open in "iBooks" (or "Open in ..." to send to other available apps). If the tool bar for this isn't readily visible, tap anywhere on the document to display it.

    There are button limits in the DVD spec (not just Encore).
    DVD, 4:3 menu = 36 buttons

    The new iTunes 11 is confusing me. I also have a new ipad mini with ios6 on it. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to transfer the .pdf files in my iTunes library on my PC to the ipad mini. When it syncs, ibooks does not transfer the files.

    Thanks for letting those who come here for help know that my navigation instructions are wrong on a PC with iTunes 11. The issue though is computer independent and relates to iTunes 11.  When the device and iTunes quit syncing back and forth, there is potential for data loss. When trying to manually update, the iTunes library wants to replace the contents of the device with the library.  That is not a problem if the content is complete.  I had a situation where multiple pdf documents were added to iBooks from sources other than iTunes and were failing to sync back to iTunes.  I had a choice, let iTunes replace the contents of my device and lose my pdf's or figure out a way to get my documents off the device and add them back.  I chose the later, emailing them from iBooks to my computer.  I then synced my iTunes library to the device replacing its contents.  I added back my pdf's by dropping them into iTunes and synced.  I have not experienced the problem since. My device and iTunes are now syncing with each other properly, including wirelessly.
