Is the cloud for me?

I currently have master collection 5.5...upgrading with a perpetual license would be cheaper in the long run for me...With the clear exception of the current offer you have but after the current offer expires I just simply don't see the point in getting the cloud.
I see you have a couple of more apps which I may not even use and I already have a typekit account.  Story plus...barely used it in the past.
With this in mind, besides the additional services and software applications, why would the cloud be good for me?

I have to admit I didn't pay a lot of attention to the specifics, but the list was over a dozen long, so it covered at least 3/4 of the apps I have installed. The point isn't so much related to fixes, although they will be part of it, but to the fact that it's possible (both technically and in some areas legally) to push out new features and major revisions without waiting for the next "regular" release. Consider that there are something like 20 product teams working on Creative Suite applications. A major release can include only those things that every team can complete by the shut-off date when the products have to go to manufacturing. Some part of the Photoshop team might have a major new feature that they need an extra month for, let's say, but release dates have to be set, venues booked, tours planned, marketing materials made ready, video tutorials prepped... A product launch is like a full scale military campaign. It involves thousands of people in dozens of countries. Everything has to dovetail.
The Creative Cloud has the potential to free the individual teams from these constraints to some degree, so that when a feature that customers really need is ready, it can be pushed out immediately. We win, the Adobe folks win, and our clients win if we can do things for them that would have been infeasible or involve some new demand (think iPad and ePublishing) that nobody saw coming 6 months earlier. One thing that's important to keep in mind is that we're not talking about a faceless corporation. These are real people who are as passionate about their work as you and I are about ours. They want to make their applications better. They get excited about new ways they can help us get our jobs done. You only have to spend an hour or two talking with some product manager or engineering lead to know how enthusiastic they are, and how much they care about what they do.
I don't have a crystal ball to know exactly how it will all work, and I'm willing to bet that there are folks at Adobe wondering about it too. This is a radical move, and all that server infrastructure and code didn't come cheap, I'll bet. In some ways it has to be a bit of an educated gamble. My opinion is it's the right move, because it gives them the ability to be fluid with releases and application management, but ask me in a year, and I can answer better. One thing is for sure, the price of entry has just dropped dramatically, and that will bring its own changes that we have no way of foreseeing.

Are these purchased songs from iTunes?  If so they do not count against your cloud storage.

The only way the backup from ilcoud has been transferred to a new apple device would be if YOU restored the new device with the mentioned backup. There is nothing 'safe' about you deleting this backup if in fact you have not restored the new device with this backup.
    Good luck Friend.

  • So am I to understand that all of my historical purchases through the iTunes store will now be available to me via the cloud for use on all of my devices...?

I have been reading and re-reading about air play and iTunes in the cloud for some time and I am eagerly awaiting its full functionality.  What I am not seeing which does bum me out a little is the aspect of all of my historical purchases from the iTunes store.  I have made many music purchases from a computer long ago gone and not to be found.  I want to know if all of those purchases will once again be available to me via the cloud.  I would venture to say that Apple knows all of my buying history with great detail.  I know I am to be held responsible for not making complete back ups of everything I ever bought through them I have lost a chunck of music and video over time.  Will these purchases going back many years of iTunes shopping be returned to me via a cloud service...?  I know for me, that will make jumping in to any pay for use fee a lot more palatable if I can restore my old purchases like some long lost present now found again behind the couch...

  • Can calendar entries from an iPhone be pushed up to the cloud for iPad and computer updating? My phone only seems to be receiving updates from the cloud, but not able to send them.

Under Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars, What do you have set for the Default Calendar? Personal?
If you don't have it set to a Cloud Calendar it will only create the entry locally.   You would need to select the iCloud Calendar specifically when creating the Calendar entry to have it sync.
Otherwise set your default calendar to be the iCloud Calendar so all entries are created there by default. And as such get synced to other devices.

  • Is there any way to see what I have stored in the Cloud for iTunes?

I am looking to find if some TV shows I bought are in my Cloud. They are in my libarry currently, but I want to make sure that if my computer ever crashes and loses data, that they won't be lost. I am looking for a way to see all the content that is in the Cloud for iTunes, but I have only find the webpage that shows contacts, notes, ect. Anyone know if this is possible? Thanks.

No, Apple very rarely make advance announcements of bug fixes.
You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
Ctrl-B to turn on the menu bar.
Ctrl-S to turn on the sidebar.
Ctrl-/ to turn on the status bar.
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library for the old search behavior.
Alternatively you roll back to iTunes 10.7. If so, first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and supporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.
You might also want to use iTunes Feedback.

    Hello ggjsa,
Congratulations on your new laptop!  I understand that you have copied your old iTunes Library to your new computer, but you are still not seeing the music.  I recommend reviewing Part 5 in the section titled "External drive" in the following article:
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4527
If you are still having trouble transferring the library using this method, you may want to try using the Home Sharing method in the article.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

  • How do I distribute the apps I buy on the cloud for other users.

How do I distribute the apps I buy on the cloud for other users?

    Hi mlabomb1,
You will not be able to distribute the apps, if you have bought Creative cloud on 1 e-mail address then the owner of that ID will be able to use all the apps on his machine.
If you want 4-5 users to use different application then have them buy separate Creative cloud on their respective Adobe ID's. If they have already bought it then ask them to sign in to https://creative.adobe.com/products and start downloading apps.
    Thanks!

  • Songs I purchased on my iPhone not showing up in the cloud for download to my computer.

I purchased songs on my iPhone yesterday, and last night on my Notebook computer I was able to download the songs from the cloud with no problems.  But today, on my Desktop computer, the songs do not even show that they are available in the cloud.  All 3 devices (iPhone, Notebook, and desktop) are authorized to the same account in the cloud and have the latest updates for itunes.  Under my account information, the songs show in my purchase history, they just are not in the cloud.
Other songs I purchase last night on the notebook computer showed in the cloud and I was able to download them to both the iPhone and the Desktop.  But the songs purchased on the iPhone were not available to the Desktop.
Is there a limit to the number of devices a song can be downloaded to if purchased on the iPhone?  or is there a problem with these songs that Apple needs to fix for me?

Sounds like you're using iTunes Match. Is there a cloud icon next to the name of the song?  If yes you need not worry, those songs aren't actually on your device it just means you can download them to it.

  • My iTunes Library is giving me duplicate songs. One has an exclamation point in the cloud and the other has the arrow in the cloud for download. Some songs don't have anything which means they play fine. It's burned CD's and purchases from Itunes.

All CD's that I burned for my library have an iCloud icon with an explanation point next to the song. If I right click it prompts me that 'This Item was not added to the iCloud because an error occurred. Some of my purchases have no cloud icon next to them at all and they play fine. Numerous purchases have 2 of the same songs listed..one has the cloud with the explanation point and the other has the cloud with a down arrow for downloading from the cloud. What I am having to do is delete the ones with the explanation point and then download the one with the arrow. It's taking forever. Then I still have to go back and re-burn my CD's and then back them up in iTunes Match. Any ideas of what's going on? and how to get this all done faster? Getting really frustrated!
    Thanks

i noticed this as a bug in iTunes. make sure the correct file is selected in the preferences menus. It does not have to be the default location directiory as Vazandrew stated. your iTunes music library can be anywhere you want it. i have mine on an external cuz i'm a dj and have over 80,000 songs.
once you select/verify the location of your music library, simply drag the folder into the left panel in iTunes from a finder window. iTunes does not automatically add the items like it use to for some reason.

  • Is there a way that I can delete songs off my computer but they will still stay in the cloud for my iPad and iPhone?

My family has two computers, two iPads, and an iPhone.  My wife has different tastes in music than I do and purchases wayyyyy too much music that I consider "noise".  Additionally, she has well over 400 playlists.  I don't want to have to see all the playlists on my computer but occasionally she will create one for me on her computer.  I thought the iCloud was going to be the answer to our problems.
But now, every playlist on her computer shows up on mine, and every song on her computer shows up on mine.  Is there a way I can delete some of the songs from my computer (and some of the playlists) without it removing the songs/playlists from the cloud?
Thanks in advance for any answers.

Sir Churchill, I tried deleting one of the playlists from my computer (Playlist 130).  The next day I checked my wife's computer and noticed that Playlist 130 was now missing from her computer as well.  Is there a way that I can delete a playlist from my computer without it disappearing from hers as well?

  • I want to solely use the cloud for music & media...

I noticed that many of my songs and movies are being stored both on my hard-drives AND in the cloud via iTunes Match. I realize that each file in the Match cloud has to reside either on a computer or via an iTunes Store purchase, but I have many files that are on ALL of my computers drives.  Should I divide the files across my various drives and computers? Is there an option for storing EVERYTHING in the cloud? Even with external hard-drives I am still running out of start-up disk space!
Before I go on a deleting spree -- I ask the conventional wisdom for some tips & advice...

The device that AT&T has provided to you may....or may not....be able to be configured to allow your Time Capsule to function as the "main" router on the network.
Even if it can....AT&T will likely not support this type of configuration
Check with AT&T first to see if this is possible....and also whether they will support this type of configuration in the event of Internet connection difficulties.
If the AT&T device that you have cannot be configured to allow the Time Capsule to function as the main router, AT&T may have a simple modem that could be used for this purpose. That's another question for AT&T.

  • I have used a Seagate external hard drive for my Mac desktop. It is malfunctioning. Can I disconnect and depend on iCloud to keep my documents, music, and photos backed up safe and secure? I use the Cloud for phone, pad and desktop.

Can I expect iCloud to safely back up and secure my documents, music and pictures? I am using Cloud on phone, pad, and desktop. Have depended on external hard drive in the past. It is malfunctioning. Will the Cloud replace it for storage and safety?

Time Machine in itself, without an external drive may well be good for instances where you accidentally delete documents that you later require. However in the event of a hard drive failure, if Time Machine backup is kept on the same drive as the original items, it will not be much use to you.
In my opinion, it is vitally important that you have an external drive for backup, whether you use Time Machine or a another backup solution is entirely up to you.
My situation is slightly unusual, I have four hard drives in my computer and multiple arrays of hard drive enclosures with multiple hard drives within them (in total I have 40 TB of storage). As a result of this I tend to employ more than one backup procedure, I use Time Machine to backup some items and a utility called tri-backup to backup other items. I also keep two backups of everything.
Time Machine is free, it's included with your operating system, I wonder if you mean time capsule.
