the functionality of both idoc and bapi are same.
the main difference in BAPI is it is used for Third party application like JAVA, VB etc.
and IDOC is used transfer data from the SAP to sap or non-sap system.

I have 2 WD external HD for back up. One is hooked up to the Time Machine and the other is used to store all my large photo files. The time machine excludes the second one. I need to back this up as well . How do I reformat it so it will ?

I just purchased 2 WD TB external hard drives. I have one formatted to be used with the time machine and it is working well. the other that i am using to store large files is excluded from the time machine. I can't click on it and add as per instructions. It won't allow me to. I need to back t his up as well. Ive backed up this one so I am able to reformat it but it doesn't recognize the drive unless it is formatted in FAT which is what WD advices it be formatted in. It should be in Mac extended journaling but I can't get it to mount in that. Help?

In addition, TM will not backup drives partitioned in FAT as the OP stated his 2nd EHD is formatted. My recommendation to the OP is to reformat the 2nd EHD to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and then include it in his TM backups. Of course in order to do this the OP must first move the data on the FAT partitioned drive to his internal HD and then once the EHD is re-partitioned correctly he can move it back.
In addition as Pondini mentioned the 2nd EHD must be directly connected to the iMac rather than be a network drive, TM is NOT, repeat NOT a network backup solution with the single caveat of using a Time Capsule backup.

Generate a file with the data entered through segments through we19 ,and use the same file for processing through we16.
when i am trying to do this syst complaing about
Partner Profile not available, and some times

I am trying to do Unicode conversion of ERP 2005 SR3 on Oracle/WS2003
The preparation steps are OK
When I execute the last Phase using Sapinst : "database instance export",
it finishes within one minute with the message "Database instance export has been completed succesfully"
but without exporting data.
I have follow up Unicode Conversion Guide and System Copy Guide System Copy for SAP Systems Based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 ABAP+Java.
What could be wrong here?

Need to find the backend system used by HCM P&F

we have a dedicated e-Recruiting system installed separately from ERP (HR).
we are using MSS iview "create requisition request" (this is used in the eRecruiting process).
I need to find (and confirm) that this process is using the correct backend SAP system.
where in the HCM process and forms is the backend system specified?

but I was not able to find the e-Recruiting system defined in there.

Hello Tiberiu,
the HCM P&F scenario does not need to identify a HR Core backend system. It is already processed there. The complete MSS requisition request process is running on the system which has PA, OM and so on installed. Once the process is done the requisition is created on the e-recruiting system via a RFC call. The RFC is also used to populate the dropdowns in the adobe form.
So the HCM P&F scenario needs to know where to find the E-Recruiting system. This is defined in T77S0 under ERMSS LOGSY. This can be either maintained via SM30 or in IMG under path Integration with Other mySAP.com Components -> Business Packages / Functional Packages -> Manager Self-Service (mySAP ERP) -> Recruitment -> Assign E-Recruiting System Name on the HR server.

To reinstall the whole system using the recovry cd

Product: Notebook Toshiba tecra A4.
As the system files were corrupted i tried to recover the whole system. After inserting the recovery cd and copying the files i removed the cd and restart the computer. It comes up to the field where i have to give the computer a name. At this moment it freezes. No reaction at all. I reaptedly tried and waited each time up to 20 to 30 minutes. there is no responce at all. how can i fix this proble?

It is very strange because units and recovery procedure are tested before the units are delivered. If you didn?t change Hardware configuration and you se it without any external devices you should clarify this with your local dealer or with Toshiba authorized service partner directly. Call them and explain the situation.
I don?t know how old your unit is but if there is some serious problem the valid warranty will cover the repair costs.
Sorry pam but I am really out of idea.

Submitting the value of an item with session state

I've a Master / Detail Form on different pages, like master report page no.19, master form page no. 20 and detail form page no. 21. I've created this form using Form, master detail form wizard. I've set deptid as a primary key in master, and foreign key in details table. In page 21, i've set the source for deptid, source used : Always, replacing any existing value in session state, source type : Item (application or page item name), source value : P20_DEPTID. While executing the form deptid is showing the value, but, while submitting of the form, it's not saving in the table. What will be the problem??

OK.
Go to the pagedefintion in page 20, click on the wordt report (of your master form).
You will get a new screen.
Click on the pencil-icon of your column.
Again a new screen.
Select the six tab (it's called LINK).
Enter item-name and value something like :p21_dept_id and #DEPT_ID#
where P21_dept_id is the item of the form for the dept_id

How do I install the operating system on a store bought hard drive?

I purchased a hard drive from best buy to replace the one that died on my hp G60-501. When I try to run the system install disk, it runs through the entire thing (around 1.5 hours). When it finally finishes, it says that it needs to be reinstalled. I have done this several times but to no avail. I was told that the drive needs to be tatooed for HP. WHat does this mean? How do I do it? Is it something that I can do on my own?

There should be no need to tattoo anything. What type of system install disk are you using? Is it the one you made when the computer was new using the DVD burner? I am suspecting a problem with the recovery disk. What brand of hard drive is it? We can get you a utility disk for the drive and I suggest wiping it clean and starting over. You should be able to order an HP recovery disk or just use a retail or OEM Windows disk.

Identifying the target system using FM extraction in a Generic Datasource

Hi all,
We are using a Generic datasource using FM for extraction from R/3 system to BW system. This Function module picks data from a Z table! After each successful delta extraction from the table, a flag field is set to identify whether the data is pulled or not.
We are about to use BO data services which is connected to the R/3 system to fetch data. For capturing delta records after the BW run has happened, the table can be added a new flag field to pull delta for Data services.
Is there any way to identify which target system's extraction is running particularly in the function module (for e.g., if BW extraction is triggered or BODS extraction is triggered) so as to set the respective target flag in the Z table?

The calling program of your FM should have a local variable I_RLOGSYS which is populated with the BW server ID.
If you don't know how to access a variable in a program that is in call stack using field symbols, search SDN.
I haven't tested this, so you may have to explore a little.

You cannot send ack messages to a JMS queue as ACK messages have no payload.
You have to tranform the ack message to a real message, this can be done with BPM.
