Is the "Import" function temporary?

I think I may have lost several hours of footage.
First of all, in haste in buying a camera for my son's birth two years ago, I picked up a Sony AVC-HD SR-5 and later found out that it was not the best choice for iMovie. Long story short...
I've since filled up the camera's hard disk and have been slowly importing footage into iMovie successfully to regain some more space, but so far I've only saved for YouTube output -- and nothing yet for long-term DVD use/storage.
Well, I was importing several segments of footage the other day but didn't create a Project with it nor backed it up to my hard disk. I only created 1 project of many that were imported, but I closed iMovie and when I opened it again just today to import some more footage, I found that what I'd previously imported a couple of days ago and had also DELETED FROM MY SONY CAMERA, was no longer there.
Please tell me I didn't lose that footage?

iM08 & 09 import movies into the "Events" folder under the "Movies" folder. And Projects get stored under the "Projects" folder within "Movies".
So, open up your explorer, er, I mean Finder and see if the Events folder has a directory for the clips you imported. So, if you still find the clips there, then you're good - you have the source files that you can use within iM.
An alternate way to import AVCHD clips from the cam is to use the archive function. With this, you get to specify where the archive is to be stored. If you used this option, then check if that specific folder exists wherever you specified it. You can then use iM to import (and convert HD media to AIC) the clips from that archive.
And here's another bug I encounter occasionally with iM09. Sometimes, the Events browser goes BLANK within iM! Workaround I found (after wiping the sweat off my brow), is to eject the external drives, and re-start them so iM can automatically detect events on the ext drives.

I tried using the import function but it didn't work.

It usually works better if you export the Favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • The wizard hijacked my importing function!

    I have CS3 and Vista.
Today I happened to attach my laptop to my scanner after Photoshop was already running. Maybe this made the difference.
When I used the "import" function to scan and photo, a new "wizard" appeared. There were two screens (I think) before I got to the usual scanning/importing screen.
There was a box to check so that the image would open in Photoshop. This did not happen. Instead, the photo was saved as a .bmp file in a "destination folder."
Where did this stupid wizard come from, and why doesn't it want to open my photo in Photoshop once I've scanned it? How do I tell it NOT to put the photo in a folder? HOW DO I GET RID OF IT????

take a screen shot of it so we can see. maybe someone's seen it. it's probably either a windows thing or something to do with your camera. if it is a photoshop thing someone here will recognize it and be able to tell you how to turn it off.

  • Import function in Premier 6 won't work; crashes 90 percent of the program. How to fix?

I was working on a project in Premiere Pro 6. I had imported about 200 files and almost completed the project. I tried to import another file and the import function would not work. In addition, it disabled about 90 percent of the program. Menu selections had turned grey. I closed the project and program and restarted, opening a much smaller project. Worked OK until I tried to import. The import wouldn't work, and the program was disabled. This is not a case of actually selecting a file to import. The function crashes before you have a chance to actually select a file. On deadline, please help.

  • LR 1.2 Import Function - Shows Previously Imported Directories

I have 40,000 pictures I am trying to import into lightroom. I have 1500 left to go. The process I used has been:
    1. File:Import Photos from Disk
    2. I then select the main directory that has every photo I have taken or scanned. The directory structure is MAIN DIRECTORY/YEAR/EVENT.
LR scans all directories and runs its' comparison.
    3. The "problem with Importing Files" dialog box appears to let me know the following photos will not be imported because they already exist in catalog.
    a. Best I can tell it generally gets most of the files that have already been imported correct.
    5. I select IMPORT and I then get the dialog box import photos.
    a. It shows I have 44 folders left to import.
    b. At least 20 of them (I am guestimating) have already been imported.
    c. When I select a directory, for example. /Thanksgiving 2003, those photos appear correctly in the preview section.
    d. I know these have been imported already and are in my catalog. For giggles, I enter my keywords 2003,Thanksgiving and select IMPORT.
    e. I am using "IMPORT FILES AT THEIR CURRENT LOCATION", BTW.
    6. Sure enough, the dialog box appears:
    a. Import Results | Some import operations were not performed | The files already exist in the catalog (21).
    6. I want to NOT view those 20 directories whenever I run the IMPORT function.
    a. Also, there are a few directies that had 100 photos imported. The IMPORT CATALOG COMPARISON shows that there is 1 photo in a directory that hasn't been imported. Of course, it has, because when I try to import the one remainind item, is clearly shows as IN LIBRARY.
HERE IS THE IMPORTANT ISSUES, most of the directories are correctly being imported and then removed from the initial scan. I had hundreds of directories that are disappearing from the catalog comparison correctly. It is just these 20 or so that will not go away.
Needless to say, I would like to run import and have NO FILES or DIRECTORIES to import when I am completed this project.

Jao, as a general rule I always want to see exported jpegs or tiffs in LR library. My ideal is to not have to use the file browser in Windows to manage files. I want to know if I have jpeg or tiff versions of a raw file. Otherwise I might end up creating identical jpegs, when I receive a request for a particular file. Since my jpegs are created from raw files adjusted in LR's develop module, I have been considering deleting the jpegs after sending them to the client who requested them, that way I don't waste hard drive space on files that I can easily recreate. Even in this case, I would like to see them in LR, so that I can delete them after sending them to the client.
I create tiffs for two purposes. One is to edit in PS, which automatically gets recognized by LR. But some times I create tiffs that are used in assembling an HDR file. I want to see these in LR, otherwise I need to open the Windows file browser and navigate to the folder to see the tiffs.
I prefer to work in a single program so in general I would like LR to be able to recognize other file types such as Acrobat or InDesign files. The more the better as far as I am concerned. LR could have a preference that would allow turning off the display of other file types, so users who don't want this will not see them.

  • Import function is blocked. Can this be changed with a security setting?

I want to import bookmarks that I saved from old computer. When I go to File in the menu bar, the import is blocked (shaded white). How can I activate the import function?

Do you have an HTML or JSON backup from that old computer?
    See:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Backing_up_and_restoring_bookmarks_-_Firefox
Make sure that the backup file with the bookmarks has the correct file extension: .html for a HTML backup and .json for a JSON backup.<br />
You can check that via the right-click context menu of that file and open the Properties.<br />
If you are not sure about the file type then you can open the file in Firefox via "File > Open File"<br />
A JSON backup will show as one long text line without line breaks and a HTML backup as a web page with clickable links.
A JSON backup starts with: <nowiki>{"title":"","id":1,"dateAdded":</nowiki>
An HTML backup starts with: <nowiki><!DOCTYPE NETSCAPE-Bookmark-file-1></nowiki>
You may need to add quotes ("bookmarks.xxxx") around the name to rename the file to the correct file extension.

  • Missing Thumbnails in Organizer Importing Function

I recently upgraded my my operating system from Windows XP to Vista.  When I used the import function in Elements Organizer (with XP) I could preview the thumbnails and select the desired images on the camera or compact flash card.  Now that I have moved to Vista the thumbnail preview or selection is no longer visible or accessable.
I have been through the software options, search engines and this forum but have seen nothing about this problem.  I do sometimes have a perchance to miss the obvious and apologize if this is the case.  Any help is appreciated.
    OS Windows Vista 64 bit
    Photoshop elements 9
    8Gb RAM

Possibly due to display or dpi settings in the Windows control panel being below 96 dpi or 100% especially if you have a short screen e.g. laptop or notebook.
A work around is to import everything from the card into a folder on the hard drive. Then use File à Get Photos
It’s then possible to select and deselect from the Organizer import dialog.

  • GTS tables relations and important function modules

    Hi Friends,
I am totally new for the developments in GTS.  Wanted some help on the  tables for master data, transactional data in GTS.
Also what are the important function modules used in GTS.
Anybody can give me some inputs on the above..?
    regards
    Nalin

Well, passing a table thru the interface with no type is easy, just don't assign a structure when defining the interface.  It will then take its structure by what is being passed to it.
So if you would pass an internal table to it with the structure like so.
Data: begin of itab occurs 0,
          line(1000) type c,
          end  of itab.
Then that is the structure inside the function module.
Did this answer your question?   Please explain further if not.

  • Importing functions and settings

Maybe and probably quite basic. After reading various topics and help files could not find specific answers.
I was wondering when using Itunes import function to your library, is the only way from CD??
I connected my shuffle and Itunes finds by IPOD and I have over 500 songs located in my music folder on WindowsXP. I thought that I could use Itunes import function by browsing to this folder and then selecting all songs, but it does not recognize them.
I then went to I believe copy files or folders to add to library from Itunes (Sorry not in front of my system right now) and selected around 100 songs or so and they copied over fine to ITunes library. I then went to playlist and all music was present. I set the preferences in Itunes / advanced settings/import/ on cd insert import songs/ CD is mounted to desktop………as Itunes is already opened and it will not automatically use the import function.
From there I was able to download to shuffle. I guess my question is.... is this the only way? other then having the CD browsing to it and then do a manual copy to library and or playlist??

Still a little confused, when you select import
function from Itunes from either CD, HDD or
    folder...
Okay, I'm confused. You can only "Import" from an audio CD. You cannot import from HDD or folder. That doesn't make any sense.
..why is the content not automatically
    imported to your Itunes library?
You mean "Added" to your iTunes Llibrary, and actually it is added to the Library, so again, not sure what it is that you're asking here.
If it creates a pointer as the above post suggest, I
(interpret this as a shortcut or file created) on
your system, that yet another import step is required
    too the Itunes library.
No, the pointers I was talking about are not shortcuts or files created on your machine. They are more like entries in a database. The iTunes Library is a database containing these pointers that I'm talking about. If you are looking at the iTunes window, every row in the table is one of these "pointers". When you see a track listed in iTunes, then it's in the iTunes Library, and the track listing is the pointer I'm talking about.
You have song files on the hard drive, and then you have the iTunes Library, which is a database that holds information about those song files (including the location of each of these files, which is a "pointer" to the file).
In "importing", a file is made on the machine by copying the data off an audio CD, and then an entry is added to the iTunes Library/Database with the location of that new file that you created. This is one step.
In "adding", you already have the music files on the hard drive, all you're doing is creating that entry in the iTunes Library/Database. See?
If your questions were more clear then I might be able to give you better answers, but I'm really uncertain as to what it is that you're confused about. What are you trying to do? What is the goal? What actions are you actually taking and what are the results of those actions? What do you expect the results to be? What do you want the results to be?

  • Sql developer import function

Hi I need to import multiple records (5000) in a table . I am using sql developer 1.5.1 but import function is not working properly. please suggest the steps .
    thanks
    Ruchi

I would say that the import function in Sql Developer is still evolving...
So far I have tried it in 1.5.1 (where it mostly does NOT work, especially with Excel files), with 1.5.3 (where I think works the best) and with 1.5.4 where new import requirements make it unnecessarily hard to work with.
What I mean by that, is that although in 1.5.3 you can match your CSV text columns to existing Table columns, in 1.5.4 you immediately get an error and the import aborts if the CSV text columns do not match in number and name the existing table column. I would like to have the option to match the columns myself, since I do not always have the luxury of importing all the columns with the names provided in the CSV file.

  • Import Function problem Lightroom 5

I'm testing Lightroom 5 and it seems to be great, but the import function seems to be stupid! Even when I make a new folder in lightroom it doesn't import there, it makes a new folder in Lightroom using where the photos used to be! I've lost some now because of that! That's really annoying! Or is there something I don't understand?

    Hi,
    here are the screen captures:

  • Import function

    Hi,
I want to know if there is any plan to improve the import function for flash pro CC. It was much better before(CS), I had more control over what to import and how. Right now I have just a few options and none of them are useful. To make it work I have to change the original PSD files which is something I don't want to do. a lot of people is complaining about this but looks like no ones care. Thanks.

    Not exactly all.
XI supports WSDL in document-style. Other styles are internally converted but ideally should be converted to document format beforehand
