Is the Install Maverick Icon supposed to be showing in Applications

I have installed Maverick, but is the "Install Maverick" icon still supposed to be showing in my applications.  It also does not show as "installed" in the App Store.
Is this normal?
Thanks

It's hidden. To unhide it open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt paste the folloing command line:
chflags nohidden ~/Library
Press RETURN.

Update2: There is something very wrong with wireless on mountain lion recovery. I don't know what the problem is, but this link may explain:
    http://osxdaily.com/2012/08/10/os-x-mountain-lion-10-8-1-beta-released-for-dev-t esting-may-include-wi-fi-fix/
Wireless recovery would start out with over 25 hours estimated and kept on failing. It turns out to be a two step process of downloading a few Mbytes then a 4Gbyte .dmg file, but I couldn't even download the Mbyte file. I bought the thunderbolt to gigabit ethernet adapter, plugged it in, restarted recovery and download of a little more than 4Gbytes took less than an hour. My limiting factor was probably comcast home internet rate of 12Mbps. The wi-fi wireless connection should be able to do over 100Mbps, so wireless shouldn't be much slower than wired, except wi-fi wireless is broken. Now that ML is installed and updated, wi-fi seems fine now, as I am using it right now, but I haven't tried downloading a big file yet.
Don't use wi-fi wireless for Mountain Lion recovery.

  • When running the install program it says-Not a valid win32 application

My pc is a couple years old, finally got it up and running. After downloading the setup program and trying to run it, I get the "not a valid win32 application" message. I'm just not pc literate to know what that means. Please help.

Have you had a look at this troubleshooting page? iTunes: Windows reports that iTunesSetup.exe is not a "valid Win32 application"

  • Even though it used to, the installed DownloadHelper add-on no longer shows in the toolbar at the top. How can I fix this?

This add-on shows up in the list of Add-Ons, but does not show up in the toolbar, nor does it activate for potential downloads as it did before.

Thanks very much, Cor-el. That worked perfectly!

  • ATV 3 doesn't work after installing Mavericks

I connect all my wireless devices including ATV3, MBPR 13 haswell, and iPhone 5s using my 2010 imac internet sharing. Before installing the Mavericks, I was able to use AirVideo and Airplay using ATV3. However, upon the install, none of my devices are showing the airplay icon!(They are all connected to the same network name ) Can someone give me suggestions?

First of all, thank you for responding my questions. Let me clearify my issue. Not only is the "Airvideo" app not working, but all my devices (iphone, ipad and MBPR) are missing the airplay icon. Before the mavericks, I was able to do mirroring and airplay without a problem. Also, it seems like imac doesn't show MBPR even though I turned on the file sharing. I am thinking about buying a new router to see if it fixes the problem, but it's fraustrating because it has been working fine until recently. Thank you.

  • After installing Mavericks I can't change or delete anything from my Applications folder

Just like said above after I installed Mavericks I cant change anything from my applications folder without typing in my password..... This wasnt like this before and its realling getting annoying... Move anything to trash make a folder move apps between folders etc....

Looks like we can't move them any more. The best solution seems to be to create aliases of the apps in a new Applications folder with the organization we prefer, and substitute this folder with the System Applications folder in the dock.
I've done it, and it's a good hack. Look like changing location of the Apps was causing trouble down the road for updates, etc. As for requesting the password with every move, my computer was asking me for it even before Mavericks; it's just control to ensure you don't make changes the Admin would not approve. I don't know if you can get rid of it in previous OS versions.

Go to the link below.Enter your Product Number as listed on Service Tag attached to bottom of notebook (may be under battery). You can also get the Product Number by pressing Fn + Esc key. After entering PN, click Next ,then choose Software & Drivers. On the next page use the dropdown to select your OS (probably Windows 7 64bit). A list will populate with drivers. Download & Intall the latest Audio driver. Restart the laptop and check results.

  • Pdf icon preview randomly not showing on desktop

I have no idea why this has been happening, but for some reason, the pdf preview icon on my desktop shows the preview of some pdf's in the icon, and at random, only shows the generic icon on others. Quick Look works fine.
This phenomenon is constantly changing among pdf files every time I reboot my computer. Any help would be very much appreciated!

I have this problem in the stacks. One time it displays the icon right and some minutes later wrong. It's very annoying.

I tried holding the on/off switch down to make it shut down, but when I turned it back on again, the same thing happened and none of the keys etc makes any difference.
    HELP!!!! Please.

No, what you're experiencing is not normal.
Try booting whilst holding down the Shift key - this will allow you to boot into Safe Mode, disabling third-party kernel extensions, etc. Your Mac will be slow to boot and will operate sluggishly. That's normal. If you can get in using Safe Mode then you have some start-up item that doesn't play well with Mavericks.

Okay so I asked someone from apple and they said that the software update icon is gone but its functions have been merged with the app store icon on the settings menu. Crisis averted haha!

I also forgot to note that this problem also persists with the new iBooks application. I cannot get past the 'Get Started' screen or access the iBooks Store. Again, all top bar menus are unresponsive.

  • Keep getting error when trying to instal Mavericks at the stage when computer is supposed to restart?

Have tried to instal mavericks on a 2011 mac mini serveral times and keep getting a error when it gets to the reboot stage. Help needed thanks!

Have you tried un-installing, then going to Apple Downloads (http://support.apple.com/downloads/) for download /installation of QT 7.6.2?
Also - it wouldn't hurt to repair permissions before & after installation.

    Hi,
What version of the OS did you upgrade from ?
Anything before OS X 10.8.2 may have an issue if the Logic/Mother board has been replaced and the Serial Number not "flashed" back to it.
In the Apple Icon menu use the About this Mac item.
In the new panel click twice on the line that tells you the current OS level
It will change to the Build number (and alternative count to the OS versions) and then the Serial Number.
If it is missing you need to get it replaced.
(It is supposed to be done on Repair or Refurbishment).
An Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider as the best choices.
There are apps you can download (They are Mac Model specific) but needs careful typing as it is a once only trip.

What does the message say, exactly?
    Try this:
From the Finder's Go menu, choose Computer:
Double-click your hard disk icon. It is usually named "Macintosh HD":
    Look for this folder:
If it appears in that window, drag it to the Trash.

  • Installed Mavericks and now the contact app no longer allows addressed to be copied, dragged or any mode of movement to the email.

I installed Mavericks this morning.  When using email within Mac I use the contact list and double click on a
list.  Today, I can no longer use that.  The addresses do not move.  I tried the icon on the task bar.
    That is essentially the same.
What good is the address book if it will not allow the addresses to be accessed.  Other than typing
the first letter of each person I am mailing to.  That's just ridiculous.
Also when I go on the internet, I lose one quarter of the page to needless book marks, or reading lest or shared links.
They used to be on the task bar, out of sight.  Now I have to have one big blob removed from my viewing screen.
All this after 5 minutes of Mavericks.  I am thinking of going back to Moutain Lion if I can.

I am frustrated by the same problem. I have been using OSx since the beginning. And, all that time, through every interation, by double-clicking on an entry in the Address panel, I was able to bring up a new mail compose window and have the address entered in the To: line.
No more. In Mavericks a new compose window does indeed come up when an address is double-clicked, but the adress does not get entered on the "To" line. I have to click the "To" button (on the address panel), an extra operation.
If someone knows how to restore the original sleek functionality of having the address moved, please tell me.
