DCGOO is correct, but you are wrong..
The OP was asking for opinions Mr. Know It All. I never said that is was or was not definitively scratch proof
The glass tech incorporated in iPad and iPad 2 screen is gorilla strong. People are having really hard time trying to scrach the thing unless you try rubbing it hard with sand or diamond. Read this:
Having a really hard time scratching the glass and being "scratch proof" are two different things Mr Know It All.
http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-2-forum/21326-ipad-2-does-scratch-easily.html
I didn't see anything in the article saying that the glass is totally "scratch proof".
You are better off without the protector cover for the screen. I've learned the hard way. Like what DCGOO said, you may want to worry about protecting the back side of the device. iPod Touch 4 was stupidly delicate on backside. iPad 2 is better but still, can easily be scratched, which is why I got the iPad case instead. This is peace of mind. ZAGG is overpriced unnecessary junk.
One last time Mr. Know It All ... the OP asked if the glass is "scratch proof" then asked for our opinions on protectors.
Edited by the experienced user.
That doesn't mean you are the definitive expert. I'm not and do not claim to be.

My Ipad 3 is the same, it must be a design fault cuz I dropped a pound coin on my ipad screen and it shattered and every other week there's a new dent or scratch, though I wouldn't say I'm overly rough with it. I use it a lot, like most do, so accidents will happen and Apple hav to allow for that. I deffently wouldn't say that they are worth the money for the amount of trouble they cause, they r great devices, just far too delicate and expensive!

I already have multiple devices and by far I like my iPad the most over laptops and the iPad. That including checking out my friends MacBook Air.
The difference for me is the touch interface on the screen itself for things that do not require a lot of typing. For me, the iPad is more "magical" than anything else I've used.
Again, I do appreciate your answers but you don't know my situation. Not everything is as it is perceived without knowing me and what I have to go through.

  • How to airplay the iPad's screen to Apple TV?

I am using the 1st Generation of iPad. And I have an Apple TV. I can only stream Videos, Photos or Music to the Apple TV only! What should I do to airplay the iPad's screen to Apple TV?
    Thanks a lot!

You are talking about mirroring, which was a feature that became available with the pad 2.  The faster processor makes this possible, and is not available for the pad 1.

  • Does anyone have a problem with the ipad air screen?

I bought an ipad air last week and the left edge of the screen was darker than the other side. It was obvious so I just returned it and bought a new one since the store didn't have the same style in storage. I bought another one from another retailer, and just found the same problem, but not as serious as the former one. So I just took it back to the store the next day and exchange another one. Unfortunately, the third one had the same problem at the up-left corner of the screen. I admit that I am picky, but I think I pay this amount of money so I deserve perfect screen. If the brightness of the two sides is different, I dont think it is a product of good quality.
Just want know if anyone else have the same problem with me. Or you just can bear the small diffrence of display.  BTW, in China, it is reported spreadly that the ipad air screen has a problem. They even generalize the serial number for problematic ipad air.

Yep.   Many quality control problems.   The new mini has fewer issues.   No problems with older models.
Steve Jobs, where are you when we need you!

  • Compared to the ipad 2 how big is the ipad minis screen?

compared to the ipad 2 how big is the ipad minis screen?

It is absolutely not half the size. It's the same resolution as the iPad 2 with a screen size of 7.9 inches across the diagonal versus the 9.7 inches of the bigger iPad.

  • What is the best way to clean the iPad mini screen?

What is the best way, recommended by Apple to clean the Ipad Mini screen (ie: type of paper or cloth and what solution) ?

It's a damp soft cloth. Like a microfiber cloth you'd see for eyeglass cleaning. Damp, not wet, and just water, no chemicals.
Unless your screen is really grungy, simply wiping away the fingerprints should help.

  • Is the iPad Air screen less sensitive to touch?

I just got an iPad Air, and notice that it's less sensitive to touch (as compared to my iPad 2 and iPhone 5, both running iOS 7).
I am used to touching the screen ever, ever so gently (just brushing against it with my fingertip), in order to scroll pages etc. This no-longer works with the iPad Air. I need to have more of my finger in contact with the screen in order for it to register a touch.
At first I thought it was because of the protective film that they put on when I bought the iPad, but I asked them to remove it, and it was still the same. (Also, I have a screen protector on my iPhone, and it's no less sensitive to touch as a result.)
I went back to the store and tried another iPad Air, and it was exactly the same as my one: less sensitive. The store employees concurred: it's a significant difference.
Do they have a bad batch at this store, or is the iPad Air screen just "different"?

I wanted to buy an ipad air to replace my ipad 2 but the one I wanted was (luckily) sold out.
Yesterday I tested the air from a collegue and I noticed the screen was SUBSTANTIALLY less sensitive than the screen of my ipad 2 when using my stylus.
I use Stylus R US especially for I annotate and with the air this did not work well at all... Half of the time there was no contact registered so underying certain parts of the text was a disaster...
Just working with the finger all whent OK... Just fear that another app I use a lot (notes +) will have same problem.
On the Ipad 4 also retina all goes *** smooth as on my ipad 2...
Is this a fault of a specific ipad air series? Or is this normal?? If it is I think this is truelly a huge flaw and I cannot see how not manny people using the ipad for notetaking etc did not notice this...

  • Replacing a cracked ipad 2 screen with the ipad 3 screen

I have an ipad 2 in for screen replacement. I have a couple ipad 3 screens on hand. Are there any differences in the two screen sizes, to where the ipad 3 screen will not fit the ipad 2? The screen specs look the same for both of them.
    Thanks

Thanks. Although the retina display most likely is in the LCD which is a seperate part. The outer glass is the digitizer, which merely gives you the touch function. I wouldn't think the digitizer has any effect on the retina display.
I'm curious if the glass (digitizer) is the same size on both the ipad 2 and ipad 3. Guess I can lay the ipad 3 screen on the ipad 2 and see if there is any difference in the size.
    Thanks,
    Wade

  • Why is there a horizontal line a quarter inch above the Home button on the iPad main screen all of a sudden?

Why is there a horizontal line a quarter inch above the Home button on the iPad main screen all of a sudden? Does that mean the screen itself is problematic?

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
If that doesn't help I suspect there is a hardware problem with the iPad. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • Will the back of the ipad 2 get scratches?

I'm hoping to get the ipad 2 and obviously the smart cover. However I know that the back still isn't protected.  It probably will eventually get scratches but just so I know; will the ipad 2 get scratches?

Unless you keep it in a sleeve at all times, yes, yes it will. A friend of mine has an original iPad for which she never bought a case, preferring to keep it in her purse: the back is noticeably scratched just from incidental contact with keys, her phone, etc.
There are snap-on, one-piece cases being released now for the iPad 2, though, that only cover the back and don't interfere with the Smart Cover. I use one and like it. Some of the brands offering cases of this type include Incipio, Marware, and SwitchEasy.

I upgraded my Ipad at Apple store but nothing happened. Anyone knows how can I resolve it, please ?

    1. first try to reboot your ipad
if that don't work then try downloading another app don't matter which one
and if it fix your problem you can just delete it afterwards

  • Is the touch screen scratch proof

I have noticed a very small scratch on the touch screen of my iPad.  Is there any way this can be removed?  Is this covered by any guarantee?

The screen is not scratch proof. It is not advertisied as such and it is not guaranteed to be scratch proof. There have been some a few discussions about this matter on the ASC site.
I don't see how you could prove that you did not cause the scratch unless you had opened the iPad at the Apple Store in front of an Apple rep so - IMO it would not be covered under the warranty. The warranty does not cover accidental damage or misuse.
