The old Camera Connection Kit also works and I use it on my iPad 4, however, to use this your will need the Lightning to 30 pin adaptor.

I don't think you can connect a printer since you won't have the printer drivers. I use FingerPrint from collobos.com to print to my non-AirPrint printers.

  • HT4101 I have a NIKON COOLPIX P500 but am unable to download photos through the IPad camera connection kit. I have tried to use the Sandisk card also - no result. Any suggestions? The Ipad does not "see" the card or camera?

I have a Nikon Coolpix P500 but am unable to download photos from it to my iPad2 via the iPad Camera Connection kit. The iPad does not see either the Sandisk 8GB card or the Nikon camera. I have turned the camera on, but it seems that the camera just want to recharge its battery through the iPad as the iPad states that the devices draws too much power?? Anybodu solved this problem yet? Advise please?

One thing to check is the format that the camera is saving pics to the card in. Many are selectable and, in most cases, if PTP is one of the options then you need to have that one selected for the files to be visible to iOS and the CCK (connection kit).
Another thing which sometimes comes up, especially with older cameras and therefore probably not with yours, is the filenaming conventions used by the camera. iOS is quite strict about what it expects to see and if files are being stored with unsupported name formats then they simply won't be seen at all.

  • (makeshift) case for the iPad Camera Connection Kit?

Has anyone found anything that would make a good case for the iPad Camera Connection Kit? i'm afraid I will lose mine if i don't put it in something, but i do want to keep it small

Go to the dollar store & get a cheap cell phone case. You might be able to get a case large enough that will also store the USB cable.

  • IPad camera connection kit compatibility with SD cards

    Hi there,
I am really hoping that someone can help me out, I am going mad!
I am gong on holiday for 5 weeks and want to be able to get photos from my camera to iPad while away.
So I bought the Apple iPad camera connection kit. There was nothing that mentioned that it is not compatible with certain SD cards, so it seemed ideal.
I don't have a fancy camera, just a simple Sony Cybeshot, the card I have is 'SanDisk memory stick pro duo 2 gb magic gate'. The card is slightly smaller than the slot on the apple card reader but seems to fit into it fairly well. However, when I plug it in nothing happens, not even an error message- this lead me to believe that it was a fault with the equipment...or am I wrong- could it be that the card is not compatible??
I have tried everything, changing the format on the card via the camera, taking cover off iPad to ensure connection is solid and turning iPad on and off again.
The other thing is that my camera does not seem to have anything to attach a USB cable to.
PLEASE help me, before iPad AND connector go out of the window!!
    Spec-
    iPad 2 64 GB
SanDisk Memory Stick Pro Duo 2GB magicGate
    Camera Sony Cybershot
    Version 4.3.5 (8L1)
    Thank you

An SD card is a Secure Digital type memory card.  SD stands for Secure Digital, not Sandisk. A memory stick pro duo 2 gb magic gate
is a Memory Stick Pro duo type of card.
They are different types of cards. the Camera connection kits only works with the Secure Digital type.

  • Will the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit work with my iPhone 4s (7.0.4)?

It tells you that it is only compatible with ipad

  • Ipad Camera connection kit problem with SD card

I have a gen3 ipad and have the camera connection kit which consists of 2 connectors. 1 is usb and the other is SD card. The usb when hooked to camera works just fine but the SD adater does not see any sd card I put in.

The SD reader will only see photos on the card if they are formatted in a specific manner. A top level folder named DCIM and all files need to have a 8 character name.
Have you tried to take photos on the card then try to read them with the CCK?

  • Is there some way to make the iPad Camera Connection Kit work on the iPod touch?

I bought the Camera Connection Kit because a tech said it would work with my iPod Touch, but I get the message that the iPod does not support that connection. I would really like itt to work because I have used an older iPod to back up photos while on vacation. I would simply connect the camera up to the iPod and it would download all the photos from the camera. It was an excellent way not to have to buy lots of SD cards. This kit has a slot for an SD card and I could copy directly from that. So if anyone out there knows how I could make it work, I'd appreciate your input.

Is your MacBook Pro new?  Did it come with Lion preinstalled?  If not do you have the iDVD application in the Applications folder?
If not I suggest you purchase a copy of the iLife 11 disk from Amazon.com or eBay.com or other 3rd party supplier.  Apple does not sell iDVD any more and those items are getting harder to get.
Once you obtain iDVD go to iPhoto and bring up the slideshow.  Then use the Share ➙ iDVD menu option. That will send the slideshow to iDVD from which you can burn a video DVD disk.
I suggest you follow this workflow while working in iDVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Is there a limit on the size of SDHC card that can be read with the iPad camera connectioin kit?

Is there a limit on the size of SDHC card that can be read with the iPad camera connection kit?

I've successfully connected 32 gig SDHC and CF cards so if there is an upper limit, it's at least 32 gig.
I know SDXC will not work.
With the cards that don't work, have they been formatted correctly? the camera connection kit will only read cards holding images. (Well, it'll only see the images) And those images have to have a file name of exactly 8 characters (DSC_2342 for example) and they  have to be in a folder named DCIM.
    Anything else it wont' read.
I put a photo on there called 'Christmas' and the connection kit won't see it. I put a photo on there in the DCIM folder named XMAS2342 it'll see that.
So it's possible that those cards weren't read because they weren't speaking the right language.

  • Why can I not load pictures from a micro SD 64gb using scan disk adapter plugged into an Apple iPad camera connection kit.  I have the iPhoto app but pictures not being seen on iPad.  So incredibly frustrating.  Apple please fix this.

Do you have a smaller capacity micro SD card to try? I seem to remember from past posts that users were having problems with cards larger than 32GB, however, Apple's page doesn't mention this.

  • IPad camera connection kit is working on ios 6.1.3 or no?

    Hello everyone,
I'm trying to find an answer to this question
Is iPad camera connection kit working on the new update iOS 6.1.3?
I need to know this kinda urgent now, because my iPad has been acting really weird, but I hadn't update yet, because I'm scared my camera connection kit won't work anymore, and I need it alot because I work with cameras.
Anyone who already update and the camera connection kit still working? Please
I have an iPad 2 currently iOS 6
    Have a great day!

Works on my iPad 2 also. I transfer pics/videos using an SDHC card and also using a USB flash drive.
To use a flash drive, Plug the  flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)
