Is the iPhone 4s a Quad Band phone?

Is the iPhone 4S a quad band phone? Is the iPhone 4 a quad band phone?

Hello nileswimmer,
If I understand correctly you want to know if the iPhone 4s can use 4 cellular bands with a GSM network. According to the following artcle, yes it does:
Apple - iPhone - iPhone 4s Technical Specifications
World phone
UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); CDMA EV-DO Rev. A (800, 1900 MHz)3
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Regards,
Sterling

I have just purchased the iPhone 5s and my previous phone was backed up on iCloud. However when I restored this on my new phone my photos are still being restored after 4 days. Shows the amount there but no pictures? Is there anything I can do to get them back as my other phone has now been cleared. On my iCloud storage it still shows that my previous phone had all the info still?? I'm confused!

Many users have lost photos while preforming a restore from backup or upgrading the iOS.   Recall, only photos in the camera roll are backed up to iCloud.  There is a way to turn backups for camera roll on/off, perhaps these users had camera roll turned off.
    See:
Settings>icloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage,  tap the device's name and on the next screen, be sure Camera Roll is turned on.
    IMPORTANT...
Photos should be regularly synced to a computer (like you store photos from a digital camera) using either USB via iTunes (on a mac use iPhoto or Aperture to move them to an album) or using photo stream.  If using Photo stream, but sure to move the received photos to a permanent album.  If you have been doing that, then you can sync those photos back to your device.
Or, you can find other apps in the app store that send camera roll photos to a service like Dropbox.
If you haven't been saving photos except relying on iCloud to store them in a backup, then that is risky, as many users have discovered.  I'm afraid I have no advice in this case - there is no "cure".

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • How Can I choose Iphone 5s models that work with LTE in Brazil. The Iphone needs to Support Band 7. If I buy the wrong model can apple change it ?

I am planning to buy an Iphone 5s in October, but I have to make sure that the model will work with the LTE services we have in Brazil. I know that Apple made 2 Models that support Band 7. See Below.
    Model A1457*: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20)
    Model A1530*: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); FDD-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20); TD-LTE (Bands 38, 39, 40)
How can I make sure I will buy the correct model through the internet ? Can Apple change the Iphone In case they send the model that does not support LTE services in Brazil ?
    Thanks,

Have you personally tried those models with Brazilian LTE networks? Do they work? If so, fine.  If not, then besides that, there is the problem of the warranty which is not international. The user will have to return the phone back to the country of purchase for both warranty and out of warranty service. So what might seem cheaper at first glance might not be in the end.
Anyways, it your money and the OP's should he want to go ahead with your recommendation.

  • Why not more quad band phones? Please!

Does anyone know why Nokia doesn't make more quad band handsets?
I live in the Caribbean where Cable and Wireless operates on a pretty useless 850/1800/1900 frequency, so the best suited phones for where I live are really the less feature rich handsets from the United States. (Unless I want to switch networks where I don't get as many privileges.) But I get most of my phones from the UK (cos they're almost always better!) And its a myth that having a tri-band handset will keep you covered. The truth is that you will only get about 70-80% coverage if your handset is relying on the 1900 band, (depending on the network in a country, of course.)
But the choices of quad band handsets from Nokia is really small, like 6270 or N80, but I'd love to have a 6233 be quad band for example.
Does anyone know, is it possible to turn a 900/1800/1900 handset into an 850/1800/1900 one? Is this something a technician could do for you?

An island called Saint Lucia, in the Caribbean, where many of us love Nokia phones (^_^) but are condemned to operate them on an 850/1800/1900 network, if we are brave enough to dare, or unwilling to do the unthinkable and, *shudder*, buy a Motorolla. (Ok, there is a 900/1800/1900 network, but *everyone* I call is on the bad/hopeless 850 one, and you just would not believe how expensive it is to call cross network. Besides, I travel to the UK several times a year, have a contract with voda and get upgraded regularly, and I naturally prefer European handsets cos I have more variety!) ^_~
Please come visit, bearing many feature rich quad band two to three megapixel with flash series 40 high resolution video Nokia phones that aren't necessarily symbian or 3G.
We shall worship you, oh great and mighty Nokia God!!!
    (^_^)

  • Playing the iPhone/Morphwiz with my band!

    Hey guys, how are you?
I play keyboard in a band called VRA!. The ideia behind the project is to collaborate online to record good music with good people. It's really fun and the feedback has been great!
In our latest video, we covered Dream Theater's "Constant Motion" and I also used a cool app called Morphwiz (created by DT's keyboardist, available to iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad) to play some sections of the song. Here's the result:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wwqp4FkNtlc
Hope you enjoy it!! All the best! Grin

    (3) Apple didn`t include video support because of the quality of the 2 MP camera, they are known as being the best in video and photography, so enabling video would result in a poor quality, Apple`s approach on this was all or nothing.
    (9) It supports loads of attachments such as PDF, DOC, images, that can be saved to the phone, or attached right after making them from the Camera Roll, and actually it supports push email, via the "Mobile Me" service from Apple (.Mac). This requires a anual payment, but it`s not that expensive, considering that you can use it with PC`s, Macs, and your phone.
    (10) The iPhones keyboard is the best I`ve ever used, i takes about a week to write fast, and about 2 to be a pro, and I mean really fast :))
PS: What`s your current phone ?

  • Is the iphone 5 a quad core or dual core?

The subject line says it all.  Anyone know the answer yet?  If it's a dual core how is it better than the A5X in the iPad 3?

    Confirmed: http://crave.cnet.co.uk/mobiles/iphone-5-what-we-didnt-get-50009172/
Also the quote Apple gave about the iPhone 5 being the slimmest smartphone is incorrect:

how do I remove the iphone finder from off my home screen?

Hold an icon until they all wiggle, the tap the "x" in the corner
The app has nothing to do with tracking the iphone on which it is installed.  It only allows you to find your other devices from your iphone.

  • Is the iPhone 3G S a better phone?

Has anyone heard if the new iPhone 3G S has a different/better cellular radio? Can we expect it to get better phone reception than its predecessors?

I mostly really depends on your carrier not the phone itself. If you have ATT like I do, then no your service will not get any better unfortunately.

  • The iPhone- Not a corporate friendly phone???

I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you work in an evironment where the Treo's and the Crackberry rules, will this phone have issues adapting to the system?
My friend and I had this conversation over the weekend and he brought up the fact that with the e-mail, PIM (personal information management), and some security issues that the phone will have problem intergrating in a business environment.
FYI, he is a banker who travels a third of a year and I'm in the medical field where beepers are still in fashion....go figure
      Mac OS X (10.4.10)

It depends upon the software your company uses. Mail is easy, as long as you don't demand push. IMAP is supported by just about all mail servers. Some companies apparently don't turn it on, but that's not iPhone's fault. If your mail system supports server-side rules, you can get something like push by generating SMS messages for key email. I wouldn't do it for all email, as the cost of SMS would be unreasonable, but if there is certain mail you want to be alerted by, you can set up a rule to forward that mail to your phone by SMS. This assumes a mail system with a competent rule processor, but that shouldn't be unusual.
Calendar is harder. If your software works with iSync, you're in luck. There's third party (Snerdware) software to sync to Exchange. You can also sync via Entourage. But multiple layers of syncing create lots of opportunities for problems. I'm at a university. We use Sun's JES calendar. One-way sync (from JES to iCal) is quite reliable. So I have my events on my iPhone. To add an event I use a web application that is designed for a small screen, and optimized for iPhone

  • Unlocking the iPhone 4S - Please, a REAL answer from someone official?

I've searched everywhere for this; I've read the other posts with the link to the "unlock confirmation" that's really from the "Droid" page; I've contacted customer service three times . . . each time as I was about to pull the trigger on purchasing a new phone.
I don't know how monitored this community might be but PLEASE, if someone from Verizon's reading this, we need something in writing.
I was about to order the 32GB Black iPhone 4S but suddenly got concerned that I couldn't find ANY official information about unlocking the SIM for travel.  I had seen the "unlock after 60 days" quotes in ALL the magazines and online sites, but found nothing on verizon.
So, I contacted customer service, via chat, where I was told that:
Karen: Verizon does not unlock the sim.
Karen: No you cannot swap out the sim.
Karen: I was told Verizon does not unlock no phones/
      followed by
Karen: Would you mind holding for a moment while I check that information?
stu: Again, just to clarify, 'cause it's sort of a strange policy, Verizon will never unlock an iPhone?
Karen: No they told me no.
That seemed to end Verizon for me as an option. I'm heading for a month in Europe in June and on a month long trip, with the need/desire for lots of local calls, it's not economically feasible to use the roaming plans.
Then I searched for the press quote again . .finding:
“It is our standard unlock policy for all Global Phones. You have to have been a customer for 60 days and in good standing (meaning your bill is current) and the phone you want to unlock must be on our network at the time of the request. You call Verizon Wireless before you leave the country and we unlock the SIM. We will honor one unlock every 10 months.” — Brenda Raney, Verizon Wireless Public Relations
So, I thought I'd go back to customer service where this time . . .
Michael: Yes you can get it unlocked just as the message you sent me said.
Michael: The bill would have to current for at least the 60 days before we could unlock it though.
stu: Really? You sure? I keep getting conflicting answers. That would be great!
    Michael: I am positive.
All right! Goodbye ATT . . hello Verizon.
So, a little later in the evening, I'm filling up the shopping cart with the phone and the calling plan and the data plan and . . .wait a minute . . pit of my stomach time.  I STILL haven't seen anything official about this policy. Nothing in writing . . anywhere.  The first rep could be right . . . leaving the cart behind, I decide to check one more time:
Josh B: The 4S is global capable.
Josh B: You will have to pay the global roaming rates however.
stu: Right, but the quote above says that, if I keep my account in good standing for more than 60 days, I can get the SIM unlocked.
Josh B: No, it won't be unlocked.
He then sent me to the customer agreement, which has nothing about this.  A little bit further down . .
Josh B: Anything that involves unlocking and/or rooting, is a violation of contract and can be penalized with an Early Termination fee.
stu: Right, if the customer does it. However, what I was told earlier today, and it's the same thing that the Verizon Wireless Public Relations person said to the press a few weeks ago, was that VERIZON would unlock the SIM after 60 days, as long as the account was in good standing. Is this not true?
Josh B: It was in a magazine correct?
stu: It was in Macworld and PCMag and everywhere else on the web. The quote was:
stu: “It is our standard unlock policy for all Global Phones.
Josh B: So how can you be sure that it was actually one of our PR's? Don't trust anything that isn't on our direct website, or directly at a store location or coming from a Customer Service rep over the phone.
So, now what do I do?
I would like to buy an iPhone.  Verizon is the only one with a policy, at least in press-release form, of unlocking the iPhone eventually. However, I keep getting different answers and I don't want to be locked into a 2  year contract without getting some sort of official confirmation that the policy is 60 days.
Can anyone actually show something, in an official Verizon location, that clearly states the policy?
    stu
Note:  I edited this because of some different information about ATT.  A couple of reps said that ATT would unlock the phone. One said after 4-6 months, the other said after 90 days. When I asked if the policy was written down, she sent me a link which she was then surprised to see contained the following:
    http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB82027#fbid=5OBPuSVI7XK
What is the unlock code for my iPhone?
iPhone cannot be unlocked, even if you are out of contract. If you are traveling internationally, iPhone is a quad-band phone and will work in many countries across the globe. Stay connected while traveling to over 215 countries, plus get discounted rates in over 80 of those countries when you sign up for AT&T World Traveler
    And this:
    http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=55002#fbid=5OBPuSVI7XK
What is the unlock code for my phone?
Note: If your phone is an iPhone, the following information does not apply. Please see What is the unlock code for my iPhone? for more information.
Wireless phones purchased from AT&T generally come with locked SIMs, which potentially makes them incompatible with wireless service from non-AT&T providers.
To use an AT&T phone on another wireless network, you must unlock its SIM using an Unlock Code.
AT&T will provide the Unlock Code for phones on wireless plans if:
Your wireless service has been active for 90 days or longer
Your account is current and in good standing
Your phone is not sold exclusively by us
Your phone's Unlock Code is available from the Manufacturer
AT&T will provide the Unlock Code for AT&T branded phones on Prepaid plans to customers who have either been on AT&T service for 6 months or longer, or provide a receipt or other proof of purchase.
AT&T cannot provide Unlock Codes for iPhones and other non-eligible devices.

So, I'm sitting in the office and my boss forwards me an email. (I've been doing research on the iPhone for both of us.)  It seems that last night he wrote to Brenda Raney, the Executive Director of Corporate Communications, to ask her about her quote and the iPhone.  She just replied to his email, which is really amazing.  She's already getting one new customer, he's on the site right now buying his first iPhone, and I plan on getting one later tonight. (I do have to actually do some work around here. I put that in 'cause I know he's going to read this.)
Here's her letter followed by the reference quote:
I apologize for the inconvenience and the misinformation you received.  I have forwarded your email for training purposes so the next time you or anyone else calls, they get better information about our Global SIM unlock policy.  The quote you included in your email from me is accurate; we will unlock the SIM for global use as long as the criteria are met. The policy isn’t on our website primarily because CDMA technology doesn’t typically use SIM cards and with the introduction of 4G LTE devices which do use SIM cards (that can’t be unlocked), we felt we would confuse customers.
When you travel internationally, you need to call Verizon Wireless before you leave the country and request to have international calling added to your account profile and if you want the SIM unlocked, you can request that option at the same time.  Even if you choose to not unlock the SIM, you need to call before you leave the country and add the international calling feature to your phone (there is no charge because this just provides the capability, not a plan).  For global data, you will need to add a data plan.  Keep in mind, that if you choose to purchase a local SIM while out of the country, the SIM brings with it a different phone number so those using your Verizon Wireless number will not be able to reach you directly unless you give them the new phone number.
Here is the link to our Global Services: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/explore/?page=why-verizon&section=international-services#international-services
Again, please my apologies for the confusion.

With ios 7 and the iPhone can someone use their phone while also using a text to speech app, such as Speak It or Assistive Chat? These apps are used by people who have difficulty with speech production.
    Thank you.

My iPhone 5 wouldn't start after I turned it off a few minutes after writing this. It went into recovery mode and I had no choice but to connect to iTunes on PC and restore.
I restored to factory setting first, just to validate my phone was okay. For a second consecutive iOS update, the  iPhone 5 did not update smoothly while connected to PC and iTunes - I had to retry two times before the progress bar for the update showed. (The exact same problem with the restart occured when I updated to 7.0.4.)
The good news is that I was ultimately able to restore the iPhone 5 to factory settings while running iOS 7.0.6. I did have a backup from about a month ago lying around and was able to successfully restore with that as well, so the damage done is almost negligible since I had my contacts, notes, mail, etc. backed up to iCloud.
Once I completed both restores, the sync with iTunes worked fine.
