Is the iphone 5 4G compatible?

i bought my Iphone from a catalogue and it stated 4G compatible, ive been told by 02 that this is not the case and the 5 only have 3G network...is this true anyone?

The tech specs for the iPhone 5 GSM model are: http://support.apple.com/kb/SP655 so if that is the model you have it is necessary to find a carrier that supports the same LTE bands.  You can get the tech specs for your model, if different, by typing iPhone Axxxx in the main search field at the upper right of the Apple site selection bar.  Then see what the frequency coverage is for your model so you know what to match up.

If the backup is corrupt, there is nothing that can be done.
For what reason did you choose to not copy the pictures off the device to a computer prior to attemping an update or whatever caused the need to restore?  iPhones are not intended as sole storage of any media.

    Hey guys,
This is the problem. My father just got an iPhone 5. He has a Macbook Pro 2009 with OS X 10.5.8.  The iPhone is not compatible with this version since the iTunes is an older version as well. At our local Apple store in my home country, they told him he needs to upgrade (which I agree of) but that the memory of this computer is not enough to hold the newer OS.
Please help, he does not really agree with buying a new computer just because of the versions.
Thank you, I appreciate your help.

This is what I have. Thank you so much rdr4lfe.

  • Is the iphone 3 case compatible with the ipod touch 4

i used to have an iphone 3, but it broke, ive got a new phone since, and thinkin of gettin the new ipod touch, and i wondered if the case from my old iphone would fit the new ipod touch??

I am pretty sure the case dimension are different. You can check using the case dimension for the various iDevices in the following. A quick look shows to me that the iPod will be a little loose in the iPhone case.

  • Is the iPhone 5 compatible with Mac OS X 10.5.8?

I have a MacBook with Leopard 10.5.8, wondering if the iPhone 5 is compatible to sync with itunes10.6.8, because I tried to open .dmg 10.7 itunes says I need os 10.6 or higher to open the file , whats the deal, because it would suck to get my iphone 5 on release day and not be able to sync my media.

I haven't investgated, nor have an iPhone, but I doubt it, Apple likes to leave old things behind.
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...
    http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/
It's been pulled from the online store, so you have to call Apple to buy it, last I heard, but quick, call before it's gone!
    Call Apple 1-800-MY-APPLE
You have to get 10.6.8 first to go even higher to 10.7 or 10.8

  • Is the iPhone 3G S BC 1.1 compatible??

Does anyone know if the iPhone 3GS is compatible with BC 1.1 as i have a utility on my computer which allows me to charge my iPhone 3x quicker, via the USB port, but it must support BC 1.1.

The iPhone accepts a charge at it's own rate. So you cannot force charge an iPhone. For example if you use an iPad charger to charge a iPhone 3GS it may charge a few minutes faster, because this charger provides amperage twice needed, but it will still take full time of 2 hours time or whatever is necessary, because iPhone draws power at it's own rate.

  • Does the iPhone 5 support Sprint's 4G Wimaxx?

this is the answer i got from an Apple Support representative before he disappeared without saying anything:
    Now Chatting with Kaeleb
Hi, welcome to the US Apple Online Store.  How are you?
does the iphone 5 work on sprints 4g wimaxx and 4g lte?
Yes it sure does, the iPhone is designed to run Sprints network wherever you have it available.
i was told by a sprint representative that the iphone 5 is only capable of supporting their 3G or 4G LTE and doesn't supoort their 4G wimaxx
    Then that information is correct
Our iPhone is designed to run whatever network the carrier allows for, if they have features not offered specifically they would be the ones with that information. The network information comes from the carrier.
yes but is the phone capable of it? it either has the antenna to connect to it or not
All iPhones have antennas to connect to a cellular network, the type of network it connects to is determined by the service provider, in your case Sprint.
I haven't heard from you for a few moments. Would you like to continue chatting?
your not giving me useful answers
I am giving you accurate information
Wether its useful or not, the information your looking for comes from Sprint.
there are specific antennas and frequencies that must be used depending on what you're trying to connect to
And since you have already discussed this with them, I have no idea why you are here asking us about something Sprint has already clarified for you.
your the company that designs and manufactures thephone
Your not getting it. As you said, we make the phone.
    With an Antenna
The type of network* is determined by the service provider.
because prior to ever speaking with sprint one of your apple representatives gave me information contradicting that
4G, 4GLTE etc, all made up by the carriers to determine their networks.
what im asking is: is the iphone 5 made to be compatible with 4g wimaxx
whether or not sprint allows it to be
I get what your asking but your not quite understanding the answer. The iPhone is made compatible to connect to cellular network. Apple does not have information regarding which network types it will connect to, its designed to work on a GSM or CDMA network, the network strength which is 4G etc, is determined by the carrier. Here at Apple we have nothing to do with that.
We don't make iPhones designed specifically for 4G, 4G LTE, 4g wimaxx or any other network. Its made to run on a GSM or CDMA type network.
you manufacture 3 different iPhone that have specific antennas radio frquencies based on which carrier its going to be activated on
From the your carrier determines the compatibility.
    Thats not true
We manufacture 2 types as I told you
    GSM and CDMA
Sprint and Verizon are both CDMA
a verizon iphone cant be used on sprints network and vice versa because the use different frequencies
    both cdma but different
like the differnence between wimaxx and lte
Not true, its because the phones are locked to the carriers services. It has nothing to do with Antennas, I am not sure where you are getting your information but if you can show me on our website where it says anything about 3 different Antennas then I would understand where you are coming from.
Let me get you the number to our technical support team so that we can find a resolution to this issue. 800-APL-CARE(800-275-2273)
    one moment and i will
I am a sales chat and here to assist customers with the online store, I am not going to be able to leave this chat open for you to contact technical support.
    i already spoke to them
Ok great, do you have any online sales questions I can answer for you?
they weren't able to give me an answer and aid to look online
I find that hard to believe, this team knows for a fact and are the experts they would never direct anyone to go online for that information. You may have spoke with customer service. You need to call technical support from the number I just have you.
    well they did
    GSM model A1428*: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 2, 4, 5, 17) CDMA model A1429*: CDMA EV-DO Rev. A and Rev. B (800, 1900, 2100 MHz); UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5, 13, 25) GSM model A1429*: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5)
This is a final warning to stop this type of response. If this conversation is not kept on a professional level, this chat will end.
    thats from your site
you asked me to show you thats what i did
You can call technical support but I need to assist customers with their purchases today.
i have been nothing but professional
    i am a customer
i own a macbook air and mac mini
as well as 4th gen ipod touch and an old iphone 3gs
Great, this is a sales chat.
and this is how youre going to treat me?
I have helped you to the best of my ability, your in the wrong department
All I am doing is getting you to the correct team, because obviously you have not been given the information your looking for.
well you helped me as much as your so called technical support that youre trying to refer me to. even though i already stated they werent able to help me
I guarantee you didn't speak with the technical support team. There is no way they would send a customer online to seek that information, they are well aware that the online store chat is for online sales assistance. I am not going to continue to argue with you. This chat is not going anywhere with this back and forth. If you want assistance you will call our technical support team.
    800-APL-CARE (800-275-2273)
thats who i spoke to at 10:03
put me on hold several times and said he was unsure and for me to look online
    in your chat community
Then I would suggest calling back because for whatever reason the agent you spoke with the last time must not have been an Apple trained technicians, as they get this question plenty and know the answer.
Thank you for choosing the Apple Store. If you have any additional questions, please chat us again.
You are currently not in a chat

All the information you need is right here: http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html
Notice there is no mention of WiMax.
It doesn't really matter anyway as Sprint is rolling their WiMax network down for use by MVNOs. Actual Sprint customers will not have access to WiMax at all. It was a failed experiment.

  • IPhone no longer compatible with iPhone dock after 2.1

I have an iPhone dock attached to my PC for power, with an audio out to a stereo system. Before the update I would pop it in the dock and use the remote to control music. Neat. After the 2.1 update, when I put the iPhone in the dock I get the alert saying that the iPhone is not compatible with the equipment and asking if I want to switch it to airplane mode as a consequence. The remote only controls volume now, not play/pause, skip or menu. So, of what benefit is it for the iPhone now not to be compatible with the iPhone dock? Or am I the only one experiencing this problem?

Which iPhone dock are you referring to?
If you mean the iPhone dock that came with the original iPhone then it is not made for the iPhone 3G as the phone does not fit. There is no other iPhone dock other than the dock that Apple are now selling here :-

This dock does provide the functions to which you refer.

Yes, the iPhone 5 is compatible with the latest version of iOS.

  • How do I transfer a phonebook from the iPhone to another device?

I have a new Panasonic phone system at home that provides a bluetooth link. It allows for the transfer of phonebooks from a linked cell phone selectively if the phone supports PBAP (phone book access profile). The phone system instructions refer the user to the cellphone instructions as to how to copy the phonebook. (The system does not have the capacity to store all of the entries in my iPhone phonebook, so I need to be able to transfer them by Group or otherwise selectively.) Does the iPhone support PBAP? If so, how do you select and copy Groups or individual entries?

The following is an edited compilation of two responses from Panasonic tech support:
Based on the information you have provided, we regret to inform you that iPhone does not support PBAP (PhoneBook Access Profile) for bluetooth connection. It not possible to transfer selected numbers from your cellphone to the Panasonic phone system.
The iPhone 4 is compatible for phonebook transfer. However, the iPhone 4 does not have the feature of selecting items in the phonebook. This is a feature limitation on theiPhone 4 but other compatible cellular phones can transfer phonebook items manually.
I infer that the iPhone supports PBAP, but not its component that allows for selective transfers. Thanks again for suggestions.

  • When will the iphone be available for Verizon?

I know the iphone only currently works with At&t but does anyone know when it will be available for use on Verizon?

Then what was Job's announcement about a month ago that he was going to make it available for other networks in February?
Sorry but you misunderstood this announcement that you are referring to since it means nothing of the kind.
What Apple is releasing in February for the iPhone is an iPhone SDK which is short for Software Developers Kit for 3rd party software development for the iPhone.
This has nothing to do with the iPhone being available on other networks which can't occur for the next 5 years which is the length of Apple's contract with AT&T to be the exclusive provider for the iPhone in the U.S. Regardless, the iPhone is a GSM phone which means it can be used on GSM networks only. Not only is AT&T the largest network provider in the U.S. by the number of subscribers, they are the largest GSM network provider in the U.S. GSM networks dominate the overall worldwide market by a significant margin and even if Apple made the iPhone available for other network, the only other major GSM network provider in the U.S. is T-Mobile.
Verizon, Sprint and Alltel have a CDMA network and the iPhone is not compatible with such networks. This would require Apple producing a CDMA iPhone in addition to the current GSM iPhone which I don't believe is likely even after Apple's 5 year contract with AT&T expires.

  • Why doesn't T-Mobile have the iPhone?

I want an iPhone, but T-Mobile dosen't carry it. Why is this? Will they ever?

Why don't they have it? T-Mobile's CEO has publicly stated that it's because they use a non-standard frequency range for their 3G network in the US. The iPhone is not compatible with the T-Mobile 3G network in the US. Until and unless they change their network or Apple decides to use a different chipset in the iPhone (Apple has given no indication they intend to do this), the iPhone will never come to their network in the US.

  • Is anyone else disapointed about IOS6 on the iphone 4

i have an iphone 4 and until ios6 i was a proud owner of this phone and only after i updated to ios6 did i realise about 90% of the great new features were for the 4s or later and im very disapointed about it. now i have no youtube app and nothing to really do on it and its lame and disapointing. any ideas on why apple says the iphone 4 is compatible with a software that doesnt do much for the user if they cant go and buy a new phone?
