Is the iphone 5 worth buying?

i have heard mixed reviews and i am very warry of the ios 6 because i heard it still crashes a lot, is it worth the 200 bucks?

Surely the IOS software is better than the competition. The best part you don't need a virus-scanner app.

Don't be offended but posts like yours are now met with extreme skepticism here. We regulars are tired of posts that seem on the surface to be designed to start arguments or flame wars. • IPhone 6 - worth buying in North America to use in the UK??

    Hi there,
I live in the UK, but thinking about buying an unlocked iPhone 6 in an Apple Store when I'm in Canada next week. I've seen a lot of discussions around compatibility and antenna issues for 4G when using a phone bought in North America in Europe, but many people say it shouldn't be an issue at all. I'm using Giffgaff, which is part of O2's network.
Can anyone give a clear answer to whether there will be any issues with using the iPhone 6 in the UK??
Thanks so much for your help.
    NJ

if you buy an unlocked iPhone in Canada it should work with a supported carrier in the UK - whether LTE works will depend on the LTE frequencies used by carriers in the UK and whether those frequencies are in the Canadian iPhone
you must buy it unlocked - i dont know if they sell carrier subsidized phones in Canada but if you were to buy one of those it would be locked to the Canadian carrier and phone calls made in the UK would be charged at roaming rates
One important thing to be aware of is the iPhone warranty is no international - its only valid in the country where the iPhone was purchased ( the EU is considered 1 country for warranty purposes) - so if you needed a repair you would have to take or send the Iphone back to Canada - also Apple will only return the repaired iPhone to a Canadian address

  • Should I buy the iphone 4s or Buy the iphone 5 they have the same features basically the iphone 4s just cost less

They will have the same features once the iphone 5 comes out they will both have ios 6 , passbook, panerama mode, ect. The iphone 4s just cost less. im not worried so much about the screen size i just want to know some opinions. And what color is good for a guy to get?

    That is your decision.
The 5 has a faster processor, more RAM, and a larger screen.  The biggest difference is LTE.
Buy whatever fits your budget and needs.
Personally I just got a 32GB 4S on closeout from AT&T for $199... to me it was worth saving $100 over a similar iPhone 5.
Color is your choice, again my personal opinion is white electronics are hideous.  Many will disagree with me on that, but I cannot help that they have bad tastes.

  • How to repair the iPhone 5 which buy from New York but now I am in HK

How to repair the iphone 5 which I buy in  New York
but I am now in Hong Kong
I cannot but a air-ticket to New yor for repair
can I repair in Hong Kong
    Charles
    <Personal Information Removed by Host>

Probably not because the iPhone warranty is NOT international, but is country specific, so if you purchased it in the US, then it will have to go back to the US for repair.
You can try and take it into a store in Hong Kong and see if they will help you, but if it is a US phone, then they have every right to refuse due to warranty cover and they also have different models if your phone needs replacing and they won't be able to give you the same model if the phone came to from the US and this is why warranty cover for the iPhone is country specific and NOT international.
You can try, but you might be out of luck and if so, then there is nothing you can do except send the phone to any relatives that you have living in the US and see if they will take it to an Apple store in the US to get it repaired for you.  Otherwise you'll have to get it repaired on your next trip to the US.
This is exactly why you should have thought very long and hard before purchasing a US iPhone and having exactly this situation where you can get nothing done about repairing the phone due to country specific warranty.
The only other thing that you can do of course, is to buy a new iPhone from Hong Kong and then you will have no problem with warranty cover.

  • Is the iPhone 4 worth getting?or not?....

I have heard that the iPhone 4 is awefull. And that you cannot get signal anywhere because of the metal band around it.is this true?and should i get the iphone 4?

Here is my take on it: I have a 3Gs and I am very happy with it, especially now that it runs iOS4 very smoothly. Now don't get me wrong I would love to buy the iPhone 4, saw it today and held it in my hands, it is very nice and I hear great things about it. But the only difference to my 3Gs running iOS4 would be two cams and a little extra speed. The video conferencing is nice but first you have to find someone else who has the iPhone 4 and than you both have to be on a Wifi, not very convenient. I am sure this will be upgraded down the road so you can conference over the AT&T network. But it is what it is for now. When I bought my 3Gs I bought it mainly for the video feature which I used a lot for about 2 weeks than I got bored.
So I think upgrading from 3G or below is a great idea, iPhone 4 seems to be a another great iPhone but I will skip this year and wait for the next one.

  • Is the Iphone really worth getting

I know posting this question on the apple section of the Verizon forum might not be the greatest place, but I really want to know if its worth getting. I have to figure you guys will be biased, so I was hoping you can give me a legitimate wow reason as to what makes the iphone better than similar droid phones.
Personally I have never been a big apple user. I have never had an iphone, or Ipad. I have had an ipod for a couple years now and I will say I have nothing but good things to say about it. However I have looked and played around with many of my friends Iphones and personally I cannot see what makes it so special. Granted I understand its like ground zero for smart phones, but today it seems no different than any other smart phone out there. Also, I feel I am somewhat biased against the Iphone because I feel Siri is the beginning of Skynet.
Jokes aside I am considering the switch, so please tell me what makes this phone so special. Thank you for your help.

    Hello Gerio,
It really depends upon the features you want, and what you need the phone to do. I am getting older and can't afford an assistant to help with my memory. Siri is the next best thing. Secondly, I am really intrigued with the advanced abilities of this phone. If I weren't married to a terminally wife, I would not have a landline. She has dementia and cannot learn new things so the "cell phone' is too much for her. Secondly, her emergency medical is attached to the normal landline 911 system. I have had an I phone in the past and was extremely happy with its performance, as well as its environmental footprint. I get so upset when I hear people say that "Apple" is owner of everything, lenux is free and will always be free, and android is based on lenux. Google is propriatory on the android and no one is complaining about that. You even have to have an google based email address for some of the features to work.
Get what you feel you need. Do some research online and make an informed decision.
Take care and as long as you make an informed choice you should be happy with whatever you choose...
I just bought an Iphone 5 btw

  • Iphone 4 worth buying after iphone 5 launch

I would like to know if the iphone 4 is a capable and current smartphone for todays demand ?
The iPhone 4S is being sold on the apple store for 599 euros and the iPhone 4 for 399 euros.
Because my dad and I were wondering if the iphone 4 is still worth the apple bang.
Also I want most of the ios 6 features on the iphone 4 and as always its going to require jailbreaking it.
The bottom line is if its possible to get most / all ios 6 features on iphone 4 through cydia and get them to work well on the A4 cpu ?

Not sure tried but would let me, only way I could see is by using third party programs although these can invalidate the warranty.
I rang apple and have received a new handset, they were of the opinion that new firmware can bring hidden Hardware issues to light hence cause the problem.  So if in warranty give them a call

  • Is the Iphone 4 worth upgrading to?

I have a 3gs and my contract is going to expire in a short period of time. AT+T is offering me a IP4 upgrade at the discount. I keep hearing in the news about an antenna problem and read here about a sensor problem.
Should I bother switching to the 4?
I understand that with the proper case the antenna problem solves itself but this sensor thing worries me. Is this happening to all 4's or just a few? and is apple working on a fix for it?
Any help would be great I Still have a few weeks to make up my mind.
    randym2010

There isn't any need for a case other than to protect your iPhone from damage. The so called "antenna issue" is a non-issue that has been blown way out of proportion due to users who either received a defective iPhone that should be swapped or don't understand how cellphones work on cellular networks. I have no issue with my iPhone 4 and my friends, family and colleagues have also confirmed they have no issues. Like any cellphone if you were to hold it outside and the signal bars dropped from 5 to none then your phone is defective and should be repaired or swapped. If you experience issues indoors with reception that isn't an issue with the iPhone and is an issue with the signal gain you're getting from your local carrier tower. I have used the iPhone 4 both with and with out a case and it performs the same. Outdoors I get 4-5 bars holding the iPhone and indoors 3 to 4 bars depending on where I am and how much physical obstruction is between me and the local tower. Anyone that lives in an already poor reception area should get a GSM signal booster for indoor use to improve their reception and not blame Apple for their reception which is due to living/working in heavily concrete buildings or using the iPhone in fringe areas of their carrier network.

  • If i buy an iphone in USA and don't buy a contract, could i use it in Denmark then and buy a contract their and still have no problems with the iPhone.

If i buy an iphone in USA and don't buy a contract, could i use it in Denmark then and buy a contract their and still have no problems with the iPhone.

If you buy an Unlocked iPhone from the US, you can use that phone on any carrier that supports that particular phone (either GSM or CDMA). So yes, this is possible. But if anything happens to the phone that requires Apple's help, you will have to ship it back to US for that service.

  • Is the iPhone for me?

Hi, I currently have service with Verizon and will be studying abroad next year for about 4 months in Europe (Vicenza, Italy and traveling to other countries). Since Verizon has expensive international plans and does not use SIM cards I feel like the only option is to buy a SIM phone and get service from the iPhone service provider in Europe.
Does AT&T have good (affordable) international plans, and if not will signing onto a European iPhone Service provider be a good alternative option?

Unfortunately, the iPhone that you buy here in the US is locked to ATT specifically. Likewise, the iPhones bought overseas are carrier locked to wherever they are bought. At this time, you cannot switch the SIM card to an international one in the US iPhone. Some things to think about.

  • Why Doesn't O2 give us the Iphone services as promised?

O2 promise the services when they took on the Iphone. But i can't get Edge ANYWHERE. Google locate me never works. But i have read that it does with other networks. It's very disappointing. Anyone else think this or is it just me?

    Tamara wrote:
If you're not using O2, why are you complaining about it?
I expect that he is basing his opinion on not being able to receive Edge on his current 02 phone, and hence wondering whether he will be able to access it on the iPhone, when he buys it, if it is available solely on the iPhone 02 tariff, but not on the standard 02 tariffs. The answer in both cases is no: if he can't get Edge on his current phone, he won't be able to get it on the iPhone either.
If I'm correct, then all that can be done is to contact 02 to see when Edge will be available in his area, and wait until then to buy the iPhone.

  • The Iphone available in france on appel store?

    Hello,
(I'm sorry, I don't speak english very well, because I'm french)
According Appel, the Iphone would only be available in France on November 29. But visiting the site, we saw the french could buy from this page:
    http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/francestore.woa/wa/RSLID?nnmm=browse&mco =19C88A20&node=home/shopipod/family/ipodtouch
While here : http://www.apple.com/fr/iphone/ the iphone pull through, will be available on Nov. 29, so i don't understand ^^
    Can you help me?
    My other questions :
It is really the iphone by apple ?
The iphone is translated into french?
The iphone can it be activated?
My sim card "buygues" (= french mobile) can it be used?
    Thanks a lot,

No, the iPhone is not yet available for purchase at the apple store in France. It won't be available until 6:00 on November 29th through Apple France.
You can not use the US iPhone in France with any SIM card, it is locked to ATT in the US.
You will not be able to use your buygues SIM car in the iPhone unless you buy the French unlocked iPhone. You will either need to pay the standard cost and activate with Orange, or you will need to buy the unlocked French phone (expected to be in the couple-thousand Euro range) and then use your card. You will be better off just getting a standard Orange iPhone when available.
But there are no French-approved iPhones currently for sale through Apple Store or Orange until the 29th.

  • When will the iPhone 5S be available SIM-Free in the US?

I recently have taken a liking to the iPhone, since all my life I have used Nokia phones and naturally one is excited about getting their first iPhone. However, I travel to Europe every year for an extended period of time and I usually require to switch SIM cards which makes Nokia phones efficient. I was expecting for the iPhone 5S to be released SIM-Free like its counterpart the 5C, but that was not the case.
I would really like to know a close estimate or any estimate in the matter of when to expect the unlocked iPhone 5S to be available to the public via the Apple Store? I heard the predecessor received an unlocked version past November 2012 despite being released on September 2012. If this is the case, I might just buy the iPhone 5C or the iPhone 5, or buy it from another country.
Thanks for anyone who can answer this question

Contract Free means you don't need to start a new plan.  You know,  "Contract FREE", as in NO CONTRACT.
It just happens to come packaged with an unactivated T-Mobile sim but that's it.
You can take the T-Mobile Sim out and place the one you want in it.
As far as getting locked to the first carrier I think that's not the case, otherwise ther disclaimer:
When you travel internationally, you can use a nano-SIM card for iPhone 5s from a local GSM carrier
    Would be entirely innaccurate.

  • Questions about the iPhone 5 Lightning Cable?

Ok, so the new iPhone comes with a "Lightning" USB connecter thing. So, why do they sell Lightning to 30 pin adapter? What does this do? Can lightning charge on the newest MacBook Air with USB 3.0? Any idea how long it will take to charge through this? So, if it comes with Lightning to USB, that should charge the iPhone 5 with the USB power adapter it comes with right? I know this is a lot, but what I'm mainly confused with is what the Lightning to 30 pin does, and if the iPhone 5 will charge with the accessories that come with the iPhone when you buy it. Thanks!

The lightning to 30 pin adapter allows you to still use all the old sound docks, third party charges and so on with your new iphone 5.
I am happy that apple came out with the adapter. I just wish it wasn't so expensive. $29 for the adapter is a bit much. Especially since it does not support video out.
