Is the iPhone screen contrast adjustable?
Is the iPhone screen contrast adjustable? I'm not talking about brightness. My screen shows shadowy horizontal (in portrait mode) stripes. I can still read the screen, but it is generally washed out, with the prominent stripes. Playing with the brightness doesn't help much.
I opted to send mine (well my wifes) in, in the past.
Call 1-800-MY-IPHONE
Tell them the problem.
They will ship you a box (prepaid to send back) with all the materials needed to ship back.
You will be told to take the SIM card out (they will even send paperclip to help). Then pack up (they even send tape) and send back.
You can put your SIM into any other phone that uses SIM cards and use it while yours is getting fixed/replaced.
Once they get it, it is like a 1 day turn around. Ship, repair/replace, ship back took me just 3 days. Your experience may vary.
Be sure to really explain the issue. I would even include a note in the box back explaining it in case the service notes the tech writes are not clear enough.

I have no idea what may have caused your MacBook to stop working, but from your description it kind of sounds like it may have started before you ran Software Update and installed the new Apps. Just the general slow feeling and bugginess is what tips me off. You said that you weren't sure if you had closed all open windows, that doesn't matter if the computer restarts itself. It automatically closes all other open applications when restarting.
As to your data being retrievable, if when you take it in they do a fresh install of the OS, then no, it will not be unless you want to pay several thousand dollars to a software retrieval company.
I am glad to hear that you have taken into the Apple Store to get it fixed, and that you have all of your purchased music backed up to your iPod. You should be able to just transfer it all back to iTunes once you get your computer back should it be necessary.
As a side note, the proper place for this topic would probably in the MacBook forums, not iTunes since there is no evidence that iTunes started the issue. -

Try to Restore on different computer with current iTunes. If still problem after Restore, then make Genius reservation or set up service and take or send to Apple for resolution.

If you mean the apps on your homescreen I dont believe there is a way to make them bigger. As far as my experience goes in apple products I have not seem a way to enlarge the icons on your iphone screen.. I hope this help and best of luck.

I'm having exact same problem. I was installing the latest ios7 update (to fix some Facetime bug that I don't have) and this happened. I noticed in some other posts on similar problem to hold down the sleep and on buttons at the same time and tried that. No change. Then I plugged it into my laptop and it said it was in recovery mode. I'm now in the process of restoring the software.

After I upgraded my iPhone4 to iOS 5.0.1, the iPhone screen was locked and it has shown a picture which requested me to connect my iPhone to iTunes. My iPhone can do nothing now.

Can you check on the hardware of your pc if by any chance is the USB being detected; like it will appear and then diss connect from the pc, just to check and make sure that something is changing, of nothing occurs I will doubt on the cable, you can get one and then return it if it's not the case.
If it is detected then did you backup the iPhone? If so you may need to rollback the change.

Situation: the iphone is on standby, no message arrived , no popup, but the login switches on after some seconds the screens becomes black again. This happens again and agian. The iphone has no jailbraek, this also happens when the flight modus is active, no wlan no network is running.
This situaiton cost a lot of standby time, because the light consumes the power.
What is the reason for this, and second how to stop this?
