Is the IPOD Menu's Really Customizable?

I recently purchased a Video IPOD of size 80 GB. I have a doubt regarding its MENU ORGANIZING and customizing for arranging the MP3 songs inside the IPOD device.
How will i include the menu categories like "AlbumArtist", "Grouping" along with the default categories like Alubum, Artist, Genre etc into my IPOD device.
Cause basically i want to include few of the available 28 items (Columns choice) which i am seeing from the Itunes menu View -> View Options to add it to my Ipod device.
Is it really possible?. Or am i expecting something which is technically not Possible at all?
Please mail me to [email protected]

Sorry Jeff,
Please dont mistake me. It dosn't mean that i am not fully satisfied with your answer, may be i felt i should reframe my question in much better way so that it really tweaks others too. Especially IPOD RnD Techical team. I am a strong beliver when it comes to usereasyness and userfriendlyness apple's products always stands ahead of others here i felt if this functionality is also embedded it will be very usefull for end users like me.
Also as a Software Engineer my curiosity level was very much in understanding and i felt it should be very much feasible/posssible cause if they are able to show such Tags like "Album Artist" and "Grouping" in their Itunes -> GetInfo functionlity. I thought there should be options too for including these Tags and play around to include these functionlities in IPOD device too.
Thats why still i kept this Discussion open. If possible let apple Technical Team consider this request and in their future editions of IPOD they can think of include such functionlitys for the end users. So that the Grouping and organizing the menu structure wont be looking much clutured for the end user if he has more Mp3 files in his device.
Anyway thanks a lot for answering.

  • Can the iPod menu be turned on?

Can the menu that appears when an iPod is connected be turned on, without the iPod connected?
I would love to be able to set up my sync stuff before the iPod is connected.
    Thx,
    Scott

I don't think the iPod menu can be turned on with the iPod connected, but I did get a little bit of that desired functionality with the method below. Specifically, if there are songs I want to put on my iPod, then this method allows me to designate those songs to go onto my iPod at the next sync... It's something, but clearly not everything, because new playlists or new podcasts can't be set to automatically sync.
First, this only works if you are using the iPod in "semi-automatic" sync mode, where only certain playlists are synchronized. What I did was create a a specific playlist for each iPod - I have a 60 gig and a 4 gig nano. Then, I set up each ipod to sync with its corresponding playlist. So when I rip a new CD, I can immediately drop all those new songs onto one (or both) playlist, and then at the next sync, those songs will go onto that iPod.
Like I said, it's only a partial solution. If I create a whole new playlist, I can't designate that sync with a given iPod until that iPod is connected.
    Maybe this sort-of partly helps?

    Hey,
Make sure the Usb and Phone Connector are fully pushed in.
If that doesnt work try another Usb Port as it may be faulty.

  • Skins for the ipod menu

why does the iphone, ipod touch and some others have different backgrounds or skins for thier menus but the ipod nano does not,i have some friends who are really wantin skins for theirs, ask apple why we dont have them for our apps.

I just received a skin from Decal Girl. It covers the front and back, no sides, no screen, optional click wheel and button parts. It's pretty cheap ($7), and you can get a separate screen cover. I guess it's okay. The problem that others have mentioned, that I also noticed, is that the screen protector has a bit of a grayish haze and what appears to be like the 'noize' you get when you take digital photos in a dark place. So screen quality goes down a bit, which is a shame. If you are into design skins, though, the front and back pieces (that go over the white/black) may be worth it.

  • ITunes won't show info on the iPod menu.

All the buttons, pulldowns, playlists, and menus are blank. The iPod will sync, but I cannot see any of the options to adjust how it syncs.  I beleive it is a 3rd Gen Nano.

I have since uninstalled iTunes, deleted every Apple program from my computer and reinstalled iTunes.  I am still not seeing the words on the screen.
Could this be from having a 3rd gen iPod with the newest iTunes software.

  • Viewing the Ipods menu through your TV

I have an older 20gig Ipod without the Video option. I was wondering with the new ipods when you hookup your ipod to the TV, do you see the same display that is on the Ipods screen (mirrored). So if people are going through songs will they see that on the screen or does it only work when you play a video.

No. Only the movie shows on the TV.
    No menus.

  • On connecting my ipod to the usb port in my car, the ipod menu is inaccessible

please help me to access the menu.

    Hello shashankj3,
Have you tried *resetting* your iPod classic with it still connected to the USB port in you car?  To do this, press and hold the *Select* (Center) and *Menu* buttons together until the Apple logo appears.  Don't be afraid to try this more than once if necessary.
If no luck there, try a different cable as well as contacting the manufacturer of your car to see if there is anything they can suggest as well.

  • Game doesn't fit the screen, iPod menu sideways

I have a 4th generation iPod Nano. The problem here comes from the game Brain Challenge.
This is probably a very confusing and complicated explanation of the problem, so I've provided photos of the problem at the bottom of this post.
When I start Brain Challenge the game video is not aligned with the screen so that part of the game is cut off when I play. The game should be displayed on the screen horizontally (with the ipod held horizontally - as in Klondike), however my problem is that Brain Challenge is displayed with a vertical orientation (with the ipod held vertically), meaning the right-hand side of the Brain Challenge interface is cut off by the edge of the screen and there is a large black area at the bottom of the screen (see photo #1).
To make matters worse, when I exit Brain Challenge the orientation of all the ipod menus are askew as well (photo #2). With the ipod held vertically, the ipod menus are now displayed sideways, with anything at the "bottom" of the menu being cut off by the edge of the screen, and a large empty black space at the bottom of the screen. I have found that the only way to correct this and reorient the ipod menu display is to go to Cover View (even resetting the ipod does not resolve it). When I exit Cover View everything is back to normal.
While I have been able to fix the display of the ipod menus when this happens, the problem I described above reoccurs each time I attempt to play Brain Challenge. Maybe the game thinks I have a 3rd generation Nano?
I have uninstalled the game from my ipod and reinstalled it with no better luck. The only other software I have added to my ipod is Ms. Pac-man.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

I would do a Restore in iTunes to erase the iPod and initialize its software. Then re-sync your iTunes library as desired, including adding that game. See if it plays better.
If not, and you don't have any similar problems when you play any other games (or at any other time when using the iPod), you should report the problem about that game through the iTunes Store. You can do so using iTunes by selecting the iTunes Store in the sidebar, then clicking on your iTunes Store user ID at the upper right corner. This will give you your account summary view. Click on +Purchase History+. From there, you can find the specific purchase that has this game and +Report a Problem+ to explain the issues. If desired, you can request a refund, because the game does not work as expected.
After doing the Restore, if you notice other similar issues (not just a problem in that game), you may want to have the iPod looked at under the one-year warranty.

  • Why can't I open iPod icon in the iTunes menu?

I'm a new iPod user. I can download files and create playlists with no problem. When I click on a playlist icon in iTunes, I get a summary of all the songs within that playlist.
However when I click on the iPod device icon in iTunes, nothing happens. I don't get any summary, music or any new iPod tabs in the main window. The only thing that appears is the iPod software user agreement, which only shows as a partial screen. The right side of the user agreeement does not appear. I don't know if this is causing the iPod device not to open when the icon is selected.
Cannot locate an answer to this problem anywhere.

Perfect solution. The resolution was not letting me get past the user agreement and into the iPod settings.
Really appreciate your taking time to respond. Thank you!

  • Can't play iPhone songs/podcasts in the car via iPod Menu?

    Greetings,
I have an iPhone 5 iOS version 8.1. The iPod menu in the car (2009/'10 Altima) recognizes my iPhone and displays the songs and podcasts well. But when i click on a file i want to play, it cant play it and i have to do it manually from my iPhone. This is frustrating. This problem happened since i updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 8.1. It was all good in iOS 8.0.2. I hope Apple notices this problem and includes the fix in the next update. Am i the only one who has this problem?

Never mind. It somehow fixed by itself.

  • Movies and TV Shows Missing form iPod menu -- what's up with that?

I purchased my fist movie and TV episode last night to see how well I will like them on my iPod classic. I am connecting to the most up to date version of iTunes on my IBM/Win XP computer.
I watched the episode (Journeyman's first episode -- missed it on Monday...it's not bad) and was pleased. Then watched Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy -- also enjoyable even at the small size (especially the opening sequence which emulates "home movie" style in a very small frame).
Near the end of the movie, my iPod battery was giving up the ghost, so I paused the movie and plugged in. After waiting out the "Do not disconnect..." syncing process the main menu finally appeared on the iPod -- but the Movie and TV Shows selections were conspicuously missing from the menu! I have not seen my Movie/TV episode since.
They are in the iTunes library, obviously, but they simply never show up in the iPod menu. So far I have sync'd a number of times -- the sync settings were originally set by default to sync all songs, podcasts, TV Shows, Movies, Songs, etc... I tried "tweaking" these but to no avail. All syncs result in no Movie or TV Shows on the iPod menu.
Most recently I tried deleting all material from the iPod and then re-syncing all material back to the iPod (no help) and lastly I tried resetting to factory default settings (which originally seemed to work just fine) still to no avail.
When I select Settings >> Main Menu ... from the iPod main menu, the configuration screen also does not contain options for Movies or TV Shows.
It all makes me say "Hmmmm...." and leaves me reluctant to waste money on video media (though thank god my Tiki TV podcasts are still coming through just fine ... no Lala? I don't think so!). Nope, check that! video podcasts are not coming through either. GEEZE!
Has anyone experienced this before? Again, I've updated all iPod and iTunes software. Nothing "funky" seemed to happen to cause the problem, other than it conincided with plugging my iPod in (which kicks off the blasted sync process -- geeze these settings are a pain...I'd prefer the blasted thing to just sync on demand) >:-( Any help/suggestions would be most appreciated. Without a solution, I'll never be able to keep up with Journeyman!
    Thanks
    NK

I can't remember exactly what I did. I do know that when I started it up, I couldn't find the Setup Assistant on the hard drive,
No, once a user has been created, you can't run Setup Assistant  (without erasing and reinstalling).
What do you recommend for fixing this?
    Here's what's happened:
When you first start up a Mac and create the first user account, OSX assigns it UID (User ID) #501.  The next one gets #502, etc.  Those UIDs (not the user name) are what control permission to files.
You can see those numbers via System Prefs > Users & Groups;  click the padlock and enter your Admin password, then select an account and right-click it, and select Advanced Options.  Do not change anything on that window.
So . . . assume your old iMac had a user 501 with the data you want; it's identified that way on the backups.
When the Apple Store started up your new Mac, and created their account, it became #501.
When you used Migration Assistant to transfer the 501 account from the iMac's backups, OSX copied everything there "as is" except it had to change the 501 to 502.
The new 502 account has all the right permissions to things now in it's home folder, but the backups belong to user 501.
Have you added much to the Mac since you did the migration?  Have you done any new backups?  If not, while it's a bit of a hassle, one fix would be to create yet another user account temporarily.  Make it an Admin account.  Log on to it and delete all the other accounts.  Then migrate the accounts from your backups; this time there won't be a conflict, so OSX won't have to change the UUID(s).
But if you have done new backups, this won't work, since Migration Assistant automatically uses the most recent backup.  There's a way around that, but it's a bit (or more) tedious.
    Clear as mud?

  • Turning the iPod Mini OFF

Using the click wheel, I can pause easily but turning the iPod off is really difficult. I don't know whether I'm holding the Pause button down too long, not long enough or if there's an easier way.
It seems when I turn my iPod off the battery lasts longer than when I pause it and it falls into a deep sleep.
What can I do to make it easier to turn my iPod off?

    Hi Sparklefufu;
I was having problems shutting down my iPod Mini. Then it got itself into a state where it needed to be reset it. I wasn't able to get reset to work. I brought to the Apple store and they reset it. They then asked me to reset it. It appears I was applying too much pressure. When I applied only enough pressure to make the switch click it worked. Now the shut down is working for me every time.
