Is the iPod useful for music producers with 24bit 48K playback?

I'm a music producer and thinking about one of these but I want to put my 48K 24bit mixes in and play them back uncompressed.
Will iPod be able to accomplish this and what native roadblocks or cumbersome software functionality should I expect for my type of application?
Is this only an mp3 device?

Thanks for the clarification.
Too bad about that. Seems like a pro iPod would be a pretty nice product.
We need to listen to mixes in this format, deliver them in original form to mastering and even assemble/select mixes from a list for a rough compilation. Maybe have an A/B comparison ability where we play two mixes that are launched simultaneously in play, allowing us to switch back and forth would also help evaluation. Perfect sync would not be necessary if it's close btw.
Other software like a simple assembly program similar to Jam would be nice to have although not nearly as sophisticated.
Also pro editing so we can try out cuts and have a rough edit list of where the cuts were made for later for mastering would also be cool. Not sure what the iPod is capable of really but if it's a scaled down OSX engine, why not?
Although aac makes the listening side of it this reasonable, the storage and delivery side is apparently insufficient. Can the HD in the iPod store mixes as just data files for retrieval? This would at least help that end.
I would not expect laptop capability yet but these are a few ideas that could make iPod a really nice production tool because of it's weight and size. Certainly this is better than carrying a computer, disk set or drive around.
To be able to constantly maintain the production aspect of our work would really be great while traveling or out and about and would be the main goal.
Love to hear from others like me here on this thread.
Thanks
